Weight takes a bit of getting used to, but that presumably shows it’s strong. Cuts branches well and extension is very useful. Seems just takes a bit of getting used to from the usual electric ones. Cuts better than electric ones. Doesn’t take too long to charge battery.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat reach and light enough to use at full extension. Cuts through bushes easily and the ability to use it at multiple angles is really useful. The battery lasts long enough for me to use this and the pole saw in one sitting.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersVery easy to use and not the heavy. Very sharp blades made light work of my conifers. Ten feet up a ladder with the tool at full length and one handed i was still able to prune and the weight was not excessive. I did take plenty of breaks because it does have some weight but manageable. The telescopic handle allows you to cover more ground when working and it is use able at all lengths. I tried another brand that claimed it was telescopic but, it was a split shaft and extension piece. I am very pleased with my purchase and I would buy it again and recommend to others

Easy to use; some upper body strength required as it is quite weighty. Good results obtained on 2 metre high beech and ivy hedges. Overall far more creative control than petrol, or electric, “normal” hedge trimmer.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a great trimmer. I trimmed a massively overgrown 40 foot evergreen hedge with it on one charge. For thicker branches I had to use a pruner which is expected. People always tend to knock battery powered tools but I had no problems at all. The extra reach it gives you is also a plus. Filled x4 1 ton bags with trimmingsagain, on one charge.

Very pleased with this pole hedge trimmer. It is very well made and so very useful. It is just the job for cutting the sides of tall hedges and across the tops. It makes the job so much easier, with less stretching and climbing ladders. It is not as powerful as a standard corded Bosch hedge trimmer that I also use, but using the two together is ideal.

Easy to setup. Moderately noisy but not too bad. Quite heavy but as expected for a long pole. The strap is useful for support but sometimes have to unclip it. Battery lasted at least 45 mins.

Does the job it’s designed to do but takes a bit of practice, as others have said it can be a bit unwieldy and heavy, it’s just the nature of the device. I bought this and took up the Bosch promotion of a free battery as I already have other items with the same battery so could use it with those, the free battery took several weeks to arrive but is a 3 amp version so great offer.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThe hedge trimmer is a little top heavy, but you would need to spend a lot more to avoid this. Such a shame that bosch didn’t make a family design where the same pole could be used as hedge trimmer or chainsaw – they have two very similar devices for the two jobs.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersMy hedges are beech and privet 8-9 ft tall and 4-5 ft wide. This is heavier than my defunct G-tech machine. However, to cut the sides, I raise it up and let gravity do the work. Cutting the tops is great – stand on my trusty Henchman ladder, extend the shaft and I can reach all the way across. Shoulder strap is invaluable but unlike some reviewers I wouldn’t thank you for a D handle. My wife can’t use it because it’s so heavy. I am delighted with it. 72 yrs old, one heart attack, one pacemaker followed by open-heart surgery, and taking 7 pills/day . Once I’ve finished the hedges, I’m offering to cut the grandkids hair!

Ironically, I only bought this product after being frustrated at the cost of replacing a Bosch strimmer battery that failed after 1 year. Wanted to buy a product that has the same battery!

Turns out to be one of the best purchases I ever made. Last year, I spent more than the cost of this item in professional hedge cutting, only because I couldn’t reach up my 5m hedge.
I was amazed that with a stretch, I could reach right to the top and it is so incredibly fast & powerful that I will likely never again use my mains powered cutter.

Hint: look after the battery, don’t leave it in the shed keep it under your pillow at night as I suspect it was cold/dampness that may have killed my battery previously.

      Freakin Awesome!

This Black Shoulder Strap was absolutely Smashing Delicious and amazing because my Black Shoulder Strap holds my Lightwriter SL50 very well this morning at our house because we got to swap from my Green Shoulder Strap and throughout the swapping my Shoulder Strap progress we got to take our Green Shoulder Strap from my Lightwriter SL50’s rings and then after that we put our Green Shoulder Strap on the Blue Keyring holder next to me and then afterwards we got to put my Black Shoulder Strap onto my Lightwriter SL50’s rings and guess what my Black Shoulder Strap works a treat now with my Lightwriter SL50 and I am so happy that my Black Shoulder Strap can hold my talker very well this morning which is a brucie bonus for me and it is my fully fledged Black Shoulder Strap and I giving my Black Shoulder Strap 10 out of 10 because my Black Shoulder Strap haven’t got any complaints and problems what’s so ever so that’s good news.

My Black Shoulder Strap holds my Lightwriter SL50 very well this morning and it is my main strap now

I found the telescopic hedge trimmer extremely easy to use and was perfect for trimming a tall hedge without having to climb a ladder. I have a number of Bosch 18v power tools and they all share the same battery, i have not had any issues with this range of tools and the 18v battery has very impressive battery life.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThe weight was the biggest negative factor but also the provided strap broke on the metal in use causing a jar to my wife’s shoulder and arm. Bosch did replace the strap quickly so that was no issue but really it was inadequate for the weight of the machine with batteries attached for use. Can only think the advertised lightweight was without battery?

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersTook a while for item to be delivered (approx’ 1 mth) and item appeared to have been previously opened and taped up again which was disappointing. However item does not appear damaged nor to have been used. Everything is working so far and does the job I purchased it for. It is top heavy, especially when extended fully, but I expected this so am not too bothered by the weight and was able to manage it fine ( btw I am 67yrs & 5ft 7ins). Can’t comment on battery length as yet but was still charged after some 40 mins of use. Deducted star because this was not brand new but, as stated, appears to be a re-packaged return.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWhilst I am very impressed with the overall product I have to warn that it is a heavy I struggled to lift it using both hands and feel would prove problematic to most ladies or the elderly.
That being said the actual cutter is very well made as you would expect from this maker & goes together easily providing useful high with variable angles for cutting hedges without having to use steps.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt’s a bit unwieldy but I guess that’s the nature of the beast. It is front heavy which is to be expected when the motor is mounted by the head, so it is tiring to use. It is OK for light use. I successfully trimmed a conifer hedge and a few light bushes but it struggled with the laurel hedge, for which I had to resort to the bigger mains powered hedge trimmer I have.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThese trimmers work well on small to medium thickness stems (privet and hawthorn hedges, few millimetre thicknesses), and definitely give a lot of reach. The blade drive is a bit ‘tinny’ sounding but at least while sharp the cutters do a decent job and the battery seems to last well enough; they aren’t going to get through finger thick growths the way my mains powered hedge cutters do. With the motor on the far end, the weight is noticeable especially with any kind of extension. Finding a decent way to support or counterbalance the end is sometimes a bit tricky and the strap does not connect any higher than the handles. If you have grip or strength issues in the arms, these could be a challenge but I’m ok working an hour with these as a mid-50s desk-worker with moderately weedy arms if that’s any guide. A spare battery is very helpful (I have a Bosch drill with the 18V system so just interchange with those batteries).

I bought this to try and trim my 8′ yew hedge, which was getting out of control and being a lady of a certain age I don’t feel comfortable on steps anymore. I found it heavier and more unwieldy than expected and you definitely need to use the provided harness. It’s not as powerful as an corded trimmer but it does the job. Because of the angle it’s difficult to guage what’s being cut on top. I could only use it for a few minutes at a time but perseverance won out and while not perfect the hedge does look tidier. I found it easier to use on other smaller bushes, when it wasn’t extended. All in all it’s a useful addition to my garden tools and does away with cords but not as powerful as expected and has problems cutting through anything thicker than a cigarette.

Bought this to replace a budget extendable cordless hedge trimmer that I bought from Amazon a few years back, and which gave up the ghost when I caught the blades on barbed wire.

The old machine had a longer blade, and that difference in blade length was the immediately obvious disadvantage with this Bosch, although self evidently its a shortcoming which can be mitigated by extending the pole. However, most disappointing of all is that the cutting power doesn’t seem to be as significant as that of the tool it replaced. Still, being a Bosch it feels substantial, it charges fairly rapidly and will no doubt last for years if looked after.

Edit: used it again today and I would agree with other reviewers that it’s underpowered. My previous hedge trimmer was a rather clattery affair, but it rarely failed to cut. This Bosch doesn’t so much “clatter” as “mutter gently”, and during use I constantly feel as if its struggling and on the point of jamming.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI have a corded normal hedge trimmer and doing the hedges which are over 2m high and 1m deep in some place has been back braking and sometimes dangerous work that took up to 3hrs. Charged this new battery extended trimmer up in 30 minutes and spent two hours from front to back pulling the hedges right back after crazy growth recently. It cuts through thick branches but does need a few moments to get through. It’s heavy enough on your arms after a while but the strap really helps. Recommend spending few minutes working out how to leverage the strap for each new cutting angle you will use. Also found it really handy to change the head angle plenty as I was able to cut all of the top and back side of hedges really well by changing it. I knew one of these would make life much easier and save all the bee stings I usually get whilst at the top of my ladder trying to reach tricky spots. No cable means you can walk around and check your work often without having to move cables that get tangled in the hedge. Extremely happy with what I read before buying to actual result using it. Highly recommend for those with tall or wide hedges that grow fast. It’s hard work so do expect to need good upper body strength to use.

      Worth every penny!

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersThe product seems well built, the cordless works well, the battery power lasts and does everything the manufacturer’s claim so I have given it 4 stars. However the product is of limited use. Some of my comments
probably apply to most long handled hedge trimmers. I bought it to cut a 5 meter high hedge. Standing on the lower rungs of a step ladder and with the blades pointing straight up I can just about reach the top but it becomes tiring after a short while. The hedge had a year’s growth and it cut this with no difficulty however if there was 2 years or more growth then I think it would struggle. When I adjusted the head to 90 degrees to cut the top of the hedge I lost about 2 feet in length so had to go further up the step ladder and the trimmer felt a lot heavier and difficult to use . As the hedge was wider than the trimmer blades I had to get my extension ladder out and cut the top with extending hand shears; whilst I was up the ladder I might just as well cut the hedge with my normal hedge trimmer! It becomes particularly useful where I could not use the extension ladder for example cutting the hedge immediately behind a shed. It is therefore not a complete solution to cutting a high hedge but a “useful additional tool to have in the toolbox” . It is also good for cutting stand alone trees/bushes up to about 2.5 metres such as Leylandi and Laurel; also Ivy, Honeysuckle growing up walls as I do not have to get the ladder out..

Golden Review Award: 81 From Our UsersWe have a garden that is not large, but it does have a smallish tree and loads of tall shrubs, Photinia etc. For the last few years we have paid a couple of chaps to come in at autumn and give everything a haircut. However, that was a fairly expensive exercise, (although they did make a good job of it). We were musing about buying some hedge trimmers, but short of tottering around on a ladder (holding a whirring dangerously sharp instrument) there is no way that we could possibly reach the top of our shrubs, tree etc. Then I chanced upon the concept of pole trimmers, which we had not heard of before (I lead a sheltered life :-)….. Hallelujah! We already have a couple of Bosch devices and 18V batteries, so could buy this trimmer without a battery and use the ones we already had.
When I assembled it I was surprised at how long it was, even with the extension pole on minimum and slightly concerned that my (slightly vertically challenged) wife would find it unwieldy and slightly heavy (which is probably how she describes me :-), but far from it, with the shoulder strap on, she happily chopped away at anything that dared to grow in an asymmetrical way. In our 60’s neither of us are exactly “spring chickens”, but we managed to wield this device and terrify the shrubs and trees with the whirring blades, without too much effort. Certainly with the pole extended, it will reach pretty much anything we need to prune, so win, win. I believe that Bosch offer a 5 year guarantee, which is another reason why we gravitated toward the brand. There are certainly other similar devices cheaper, but too often I have found “buy cheap, buy twice” to be true. The cutty business end can be angled to allow you to cut flat along the top of hedges or other shapey bits and there is a safely catch to prevent you accidentally giving your dog an unexpected haircut. Being cordless is a bonus, as all too often I have mowed cables in half and I believe a charged battery will allow you to trim 200 m2.
