I highly recommend the Bosch Athlet.
(I used Dyson for many years and was very pleased, but their cordless versions are far too expensive when you consider the low run times, having to have your finger constantly on the trigger, unless you pay even more. They also stopped working far too quickly.)
The run time on the Bosch is brilliant, which is so important, because in my opinion, even in a flat, you do need a longer run time than the Dyson.
Also, the suction on Bosch is excellent, and no more having to constantly hold down trigger, which is very difficult if you have arthritis, or any weakness in the hands.
The price is also excellent. And, although slightly less important, another bonus is that it stands up without you having to lean it on something.
The only thing I miss about the dyson is being able to easily access the on board hose to get the cobwebs high up. However, I would compromise that for the pros of the Bosch.
My elderly mother had had an AEG animal which she absolutely loved, but it kept breaking… So we replaced it with this Bosch, but it was that bit heavier and somehow less light in steering and she can’t use it… On the other hand, when either I or my sister visit we can quickly hoover the whole place really quickly. In terms of what it picks up it’s better, and cleaning/emptying probably easier. Holds a charge for a long time and lasts ages.
The Good
– Good looking
– Enough succession for wooden/laminated floors
The Bad
– Became bulkier than older series
And the Ugly
– Not better than older series
– Noisier and less succession than older series
Good suction. Easy to handle. Easy to empty. Slow charging. Battery life nowhere near the claimed length. I reckon it’s half the length of time. It’s a great vacuum cleaner though.
Very powerful and good for carpets. I found it easy to use, I can hold the baby with one hand and hoover with the other. The only disappointment is that this hoover does not have any attachments, so hoovering the stairs isn’t very comfortable
I was recommended by 2 people to buy this lightweight vacuum. It isn’t as light as I expected and it is a bit unsteady (much like me). My biggest disappointment though is that there were no tools with mine.
The Bosch Athlet is lightweight and looks good. Mine is kept in the lounge due to shortage of space and it melds into the background very well. Does not look out of place.
It’s really wonderful to just be able to just open cupboard and wheel it round the rooms with ease and comfort without effort as it’s light and cordless.
This vacuum cleaner is superb, absolutely over the moon with it, fantastic suction power easy to clean, perfect.Would recommend this to anyone, who likes a light vacuum good suction power, very easy to store, I can’t praise it enough.
The new Bosch Athlet Serie 6 BBH6POWGB ProPower is much harder to use on carpets but is very good on wood floors and tile floor . I have the older Bosch and that is very good, the new Athlet serie 6 will help any customer that has a larger floor area to work on as it last longer in power. This product is a 4 to 5 star rate and the price is top end but for a new model is right .
Superb in every department super suction great battery cannot fault … we live in a bungalow so can’t say about stairs…. used to have Dyson this Bosch is head and shoulders better. ..
Very easy to use – light and versatile. Flexes easily to go into corners, under things and round awkward areas. So handy just to grab quickly to clear up as messy area. Good suction power and good length of charge. A great choice.
I have a quite a large 3 storey house so I have more than one of these machines, one of which is now almost 5 years old. The good points are :-
Very simple and easy to clean the filters and roller, which is essential to maintain suction. When suction begins to reduce, simply clean and dry the filter components and remove anything wrapped around the roller and it will return to full suction performance.
Very manoeuvrable and more comfortable to use than stick vacuums which require you to support much of the weight at the top end.
Better suction on full power than stick machines I have tried.
The cons :-
Removing the floor head and using attachments is only easy if you have strong fingers. I gave up bothering fairly quickly and bought a separate hand held device for edges, stairs etc. For an elderly person like my mother who has arthritis in her fingers it would be impossible to remove the floor head and use the attachments.
Battery life is limited and once the battery charging has degraded (around 2 years or a little more depending on use) there is no cost effective option to replace the batteries with new ones. Watch the YouTube video of how to replace them and you will see that this is a job for an experienced engineer which involves use of a soldering iron, it is not a DIY job for anyone other than a real DIY expert. My older Athlet will now just last long enough for my hard kitchen floor, which takes only a few minutes to vacuum, but it runs out of power very rapidly. Any chance of doing a whole house, even a small one, would be hopeless. On the plus side it re-charges to give that short performance time very quickly.
My advice for buying one of these, which does an excellent job provided you accept its limitations, is to buy one of the older models when available for an offer price, accepting it’s limited life span and that it is effectively a disposable product.
Bought as a gift (that’s what they asked for!!!) Had no complaints. Price was reasonable
A little heavy to begin with, but soon got used to it. Used it all around the house.
Strong motor and battery.does.nt clean up to skirting, noisy on 2and3.
Great hoover, this is our 2nd one, 1st one 7 years old and still being used up the carava
I highly recommend the Bosch Athlet.

Used this brand for a number of years, One of the better cleaners; and also easy to empty and maintain.

It’s does it’s job well it’s free standing without it falling over like some free standing vacuum cleaners I’ve had light enough to be carried
It’s really wonderful to just be able to just open cupboard and wheel it round the rooms with ease and comfort without effort as it’s light and cordless.
Love this hoover lightweight cordless and easy to lift carry upstairs reasonable battery life too. Bought it half price a bargain .
I have had two of the top range ones which are excellent.the cheaper version.leave it alone
Replacement for older model. More powerful than old one and battery lasts far longe
Lovely vac. Light and easy to use. Worth the money
