Obviously for shaving, to replace another Bruan 9 which was on its last legs
This is easily the best shaver I have ever used. And I have had quite a few being aged 93. It gives a closeness of shave, closer than any of the others of various makes that I have had. I am sorry I did not buy it before.
I had to return my Series 9 after three failed repairs and have now replaced that with a Series 8.
This is basically an upgraded Series 5, virtually identical to my old 5.
I feel the build quality is superior to the Series 9 with the same shaving experience.
Also it does not have the ‘shaver dust’ problem I had with the Series 9 !!
If you are trying to decide between 9 and 8 – go for the 8 (it’s a good bit cheaper…..)

Found this electric shaver one of the best out there. Real close shave without the bumps and burns from a razor. Ideal for someone with sensitive skin and for everybody who prefers the look of a daily shave without the ingrown hair and skin sensitivity. Very impressed I must say.

I started shaving my head when I was about 25 (I’m 54 now!) and I found that the electric razors just couldn’t cut close enough. So I’ve been using a blade for many years. But it’s a messy and time consuming business. My hair growth is a bit strange so I have a very specific way of shaving otherwise the hairs stay in place.
Idly browsing the new electric razors, I found this and got very excited when reading the reviews, as people have said specifically it was great for head shaving. So I thought I’d give it a try.
I had about 5 days growth on the day I received it (I’m on holiday, not naturally scruffy!), so I thought this would be a good test.
Wow. Just…wow. It took me about 10 minutes to go over my face and head, and whilst it isn’t as smooth as a blade, it’s pretty close. It’s definitely the best electric razor I’ve ever used. And so much easier and cleaner than a blade and foam which is what I have been using.

It’s a shame that this uses an awkward proprietary charger. It would be such much better with USB-C charging (as almost everything else now is…).
I was wrong – although it’s quite noisy, far from cheap, and (irritatingly) comes with a 2 pin plug, it’s actually a brilliant shaver. A bit of shaving oil on the skin, stretch the skin tight as you would with a wet shave, and it’s brilliant. Shaves as close as a traditional good traditional razor, and better by far than either cheap wet razors or any other electric shaver I’ve ever used. Happy customer !
I have had multiple electric razors in the the past 40 rears and this razor is a clear cut winner!!!
I have previously been a rotary shaver person this shaver has changed my.
Very good – as others have said works very well with 3 and 4 days growth. 1 day not so well.
It delivers a much better shave which is its only job really. Not only because the bladesetc are new. My old one had regular replacements.
Trimmer too small though and not easy to use.
Clean station not as secure as my old pop up one. Getting the charge aligned not easy.
Happy otherwise. Should I have bought a 9? I will never know.
I’m writing this on behalf of my disabled husband. Had a Braun Series 7 for 20 years, reliable, excellent.
This new one – Series 8: design improvements make it even easier to use. Battery remaining displayed on shaver itself, charging up more straightforward. Size of shaver convenient, fits hand nicely, and very close shave. My husband is delighted with his new shaver.
The pictorial instructions were useful, as the Instruction booklet ; written in so many languages, not particularly helpful.
Purchased a Philips rotary shaver earlier this year as my first electric razor. I have been impressed with it, but fancied giving a decent Braun a try. Purchased one of these Series 9 “Pro” models and gave it a go. Wow!! Double Wow!! The Philips shaved close. This is closer still. And a lot quicker. I cannot believe how close this things shaves. It’s amazing. I honestly didn’t think an electric razor could shave this close.
I would probably have Phillips as my number one brand before using this shaver. I’ve also tested a Braun series 9 shaver and is almost as good and the series 9 I rated as the best electric shaver I’ve ever used. It’s easy to use, and gives a great shave, the only difference I can discern is in the details, only 4 elements rather than 5, 30k cutting actions a minute rather than 40k, that sort of thing.
These Braun shavers are not cheap but they are very very good

Excellent razor. As usual with Braun it’s top quality and seem well made and durable. I’ve been using various iterations of their electric razors for ten years or more and this one is the best yet. If I use it every morning it takes less than a minute to give me a really smooth shave, half the time it takes me to brush my teeth. If I haven’t shaved for a few days it takes a couple of minutes. It’s very easy and ergonomic to hold and because of that seems very lightweight, although not in a cheap and nasty way. The charger and cleaning unit is not as noisy as previous ones but seem to do just as good a job, although my one criticism is that the razor isn’t as easy to attach as with previous models. I cannot fault it otherwise and used regularly, you’ll never need to wet shave again.
Straight out of the box, it is immediately clear that this is a premium piece of kit – the build quality is excellent and they have used high-end metal components. It looks every bit as good as it does in the promo pictures.
The rubber grip is superb – it feels really good to hold and has excellent “weight” and balance in the hand. The shaver head can move freely or it can be locked in place – the best of this style that I have used, it glided easily over the face and was able to get the hairs right under my nose which my rotary shaver always misses. In addition, it comes with a handy trimmer for side burns.
The battery life is excellent, better than my premium rotary shaver from a competing brand, and it has a useful battery indicator on the front so that you will not get caught out by the shaver running out of power mid-shave. The charging and cleaning station works really well.
Overall, the quality of the shave is excellent – as good as you are going to get without using razor. I think it is well worth spending the extra money on a premium shaver.
This Braun electric shaver is absolute quality. A smooth, effortless shave every time, it is much better than cheaper shavers available from other brands that I’ve tried in the past.

I’ve always been a wet shave kind of guy and having trialed a few electric razors in the past always found myself going back to it. probably not now though after trialing the Braun. Its a great system, with a good battery life and flexibility to allow you to craft your facial hair into many different styles. Its great for a quick shave in the moving and very powerful. over all cant fault it.
Arrives nicely packed in its own box, comes with a storage case also.
Comes with 2 pin plug.
Can use wet or dry.
Feels quite heavy, very pricey.
Replace heads every 18 month if used regularly, Cartridge and head replacements can be bought seperate.
An amazing upgrade!
It provided a really close shave which left my skin feeling soft and really smooth. This really is a premium shaver, it even has a cleaning station which is something I have never seen with electric shavers before. It is really handy though because I always found it annoying when it came to cleaning the shaver head and it’s good because it will help prolong the life of the shaver.
The battery life seems to last a little over 1 hour which is not the best however it is a powerful shaver so it should be long enough for you. If you accidently forget to charge it and need to use the shaver there is a quick charge option which I think is really handy for people like me who are forgetting to do everything!
Something to note – the lead is really quite short, which is a pet peeve of mine. I use mine with an extension lead which helps with this issue but just wish they made it a little bit longer.

A lovely product that contains a vey strong shaver. The battery life on this is amazing, the best thing about it as well as the finishing look produced. I found the shave with this very enjoyable and clean, the results produced were great as there were no cuts, no little roots left hanging around, it did not need repetitive shaving in the same area to remove all the hair. One to two shaves and it was removed completely, can be done with one real good shave really. It is crafted together very cleverly, the material and quality of the product is very rigid but also flexible. The blade is very sharp and produced clear cut shaves without damaging the face and producing red bleeding marks like many other shavers. It is easy to hold, it is lightweight and the battery life is amazing, one full charge will last and cover you a decent amount of time. Overall, would definitely recommend for yourself, it can also make a perfect gift!
This is the first electric shaver I used. And I am really happy I got this, as it makes having very easy every morning plus it’s perfect when you travel. As the travel case is provided as well. The shaver feels really nice in the hand and is quite light.
The shaving head can swivel to adapt to your facial contours which are really nice.
In the back, it has a precision trimmer which you extend with a push of the button.
The shaver itself is waterproof too so you can use it in the shower, after just having a shower etc.
What I like most is the cleaning. You don’t need to do it yourself a Smartcare centre will do it for you. You just put your razor to it push the button and it will clean it for you and at the same time will charge it as well. The cleaning solution is provided in the box. And it’s recommended you would change it every few months, but I assume it can depend on the usage as well if you do not clean after every time using it.
You can charge it with just a charger as well. Slight warning the plug is European so you will need to get an adapter.
Overall really good shaver and I am happy I got this it’s worth all the money. And it will last for long as the quality is top-notch. Can be the perfect present for someone for b-day.
I found this shaver really comfortable to hold and it gives a nice shave. Being a woman in menopause in finding I’m getting chin hair and this shaver is perfect to get rid of it. It gives a nice clean smooth shave. I was a bit confused when I first received it as the instructions mention a charging stand. However there wasn’t one in the box. My boyfriend noticed that the cheering leaf plugs straight into the shaver at the bottom. I tried this and it charged perfectly. I really like this shaver.
I have to say straight up that I think rotary head shavers (Philips) are the more comfortable to shave with. This shaver however is the Rolls Royce of shavers in every other respect. Not to say that it is not comfortable – it is, just 98 out of a hundred compared to 100 out of a hundred for rotary heads. Otherwise this shaver beats the others hands down. Battery seems to go on for ever. Easy to hold and apply to chin (chins in my case). The real extra is the charging cleaning station – pure magic. Cleans and charges all in one and leaves a delightful clean and fresh smell to the shaver. Sheer luxury and a great shave. Pricy but very well made and supported
After owning this for 6 months, I have found it much better than I first thought, the shave needs to be done as a wet shave, use shaving foam (not too much), and the shave was excellent, not the quickest shave, but worth the time.
First thing I thought when I opened the box was WOW! And probably the second thought was also WOW! Build quality is superb.
The shaver feels and looks fantastic, the head is a piece of wonderful engineering, as is the shaver.
I think I spent far too long just admiring it, but I am a bit of an electronics anorak, I never think we really appreciate the amount of technology and time it takes to make things.
However, I’m unsure the shave is as good as my older series 5, the head is superb, it glides well over the contours of the face, but it leaves my skin very dry after woulds and it’s not that great a shave, I even run a wet shave over my face after finishing.
Comes complete with the Braun cleaning system, which does a superb job of keeping the shaver like new, the 5-in-1 SmartCare Centre, intelligently selects a cleaning program, automatically charges & hygienically cleans, lubricates and dries your razor, making the shaver feel like new.
You do need to buy a Braun Clean and Renew Electric Shaver Cleaning Cartridges from time to time, which are roughly 5 each.
The Braun Series 8 is expensive, I love the shaver, premium craftsmanship, but the actual shave is a bit of a let down.

I had a Braun Shaver about 10 years ago and it was the best electric shaver I’d ever had. Even though it did stop working (after many years) I’ve had several other brands since but none as good as that Braun ……. until now , and yes it’s another Braun. This one’s a good bit more expensive (210.00) but the rrp. is 419.99! This one is even more efficient and flexible than ever with a 40 adapting head and floating blades which make it incredibly smooth and comfortable to use. It is waterproof and can be used in the shower or as a wet shaver with shaving gel/foam! That’s impressive! My personal test of a shaver (wet or electric) is to to shave my neck under my chin and then run my finger tips upward towards my chin – most shavers will leave very small bristles that can’t be felt when running your fingers in a downwards motion but this Braun did the job in a short space of time and was comfortable an ergonomic to use; coming with a SmartCare Centre for a full hygienic cleaning of your shaver. Even better the Li-Ion battery lasts for 60 minutes of use and has a 5-minute quick charge option, very expensive but very, very nice!
I was skeptical, already having a highly rated shaver, and before placing this order, I had looked at a couple of reviews of top rated shavers. Ihad not heard of Braun before, perhaps I had seen it, but whenever I think of shavers, I think of a couple of manual ones, but for electric, I always think of Philips. A review on the Independant placed my current shaver as “Best for geeks” and placed the Series 9 of this shaver as “Overall best”.
**PROS**
FAST & LONG-LASTING CHARGE
The shaver arrived completely lifeless, so I placed the shaver on charge and sat down to watch a 25-30 minute program and then checked the shaver. I was skeptical, it was showing to have a full charge, much faster than my Philips Series s9000. I proceeded to have a shave, which due to sight loss, shavign typically takes longer. I had the shaver fully running for 15-25 minutes, and once I was done, not a single bar was depleted!
CLOSE SHAVE – MINIMIAL IRRITATION
I love a really close shave and have been doing this with my Philips Series s9000, which also has a cleaning station, however, when I am 75-85% complete, I start to feel a slight burning sensation. With this Braun Series 8 shave, I felt little to no burning sensation, perhaps a slightly after I was 99% done and trying to reach the awkward areas which you struggle to get with any shaver, electric or not.
PRECISION TRIMMER
The precision trimmer on the Philips Series s9000 is a whole different head and quite often I have been looking all over the place for where it is, whereas the one of this Braun Series 8 Electric shaver, you simply push the butten/latch press in, and slide it up. This is a lot easier!
**CONS**
POWER
Theere is only one thing about this shaver I absolutly hate about this shaver, and this could easily be fixed by Braun, and that is the lead, which is ~90cm, and if you do not have a plug in your bathroom with a shelf nearby like myself, you are going to have to have this placed on the likes of your low down bedside unit, have high wall plugs, or use an extension lead.
BRUSH
The brush which came with the shaver should have been placed in the travel case where I found the shaver, instead, I accidently discovered this when I took out the books and it must have been wedged betwen as it then fell on the floor.
Another best in class product from Braun. Top quality and very smooth experience. Very easy to operate and goes very well on all kinds of skins. Even for sensitive skin.
Quick charging and 100% waterproof. So you can use it even while taking the shaver. Just loved it. Very gentle shaving experience
