This is an amazing little printer it’s so quick to print, it’s auto feed which is so handy an I haven’t had a single paper jam. Best value for money home printer.
I’ve had so many printers, cheap and expensive but l have to say l like this one the best!
It works perfectly and immediately with my iPad, delighted so far!
This was a Amazon nearly new deal which turned out to be a good deal for me as the printer is very fast compared to my old Brother printer and picture quality of photos is also very good.
Great family printer. We haven’t used for photos or the sort as it’s not really meant for that. Great for printing day to day labels, homework etc. wireless function and app works well.
Good printer when I got it set up .. but had expected full ink cartridges with a brand new item !
Not !
The blurb talked about 750 page cartridges which I expected with a 100 + printer , but no !
Works well with Bluetooth and a number of devices but I expected that . Will be monitoring the ink situation very carefully as had very old HP desk jet before , worked but cartridges were getting more & more expensive . Nb Haven’t tried photos or best printing ye
I use a printer quite frequently at home as I travel for work so needed a decent quality printer that didn’t break the bank, so far this printer has lived up to these requirements.
What I wanted was a scanner, but turned out to be a good printer as well.
Nice piece of machinery however am having difficulty to send scanned docs by email a facility offered in the blurb
This printer was easy to install and works on my Chromebook.
However, on the Brother info on the Amazon web page it states you can print anytime, anywhere using your mobile phone and the connect app. THIS IS INCORRECT. When my phone would not print when away from my home WiFi I contacted Brother and this is the reply I received………
Thank you for contacting Brother Support regarding your DCP-J1200W
After checking the manufacturer’s information about this printer. We are afraid to inform that none of our printers has the capability to print away from home as printer and device (PC, phone etc) both need to be on the same network when wireless connection is used. Out of the house it will be on another network so the printer will not work and there is no remote available
UPDATE. Brother tech support contacted me by phone to say information l was given was incorrect and you can print remotely. It turned out my printer needed a firmware update which he did for me and hey presto the remotr works perfectly now. Now that I able to do what I need l have upped the starring to 5 stars as the print quality is very very good and it is faster than my Epson was
I had an HP Printer, a cannon printer and others but to be honest I am done with them all… Brother are the flagship for printers and the machine works extremely well. When I have knaxckered it out I am buying anoither one.
The documents do print fast and so far there have been no paper jams.
I find paper insertion fiddly and the tray flimsy.
I had to ask for technical help to be able to scan. The link did not arrive. Eventually I rang and received clear, accurate advice.
Overall not bad; had to get something as the revamped computer would no longer work with old 3-in-one.
good size arrived quickly
set up quite quickly ideal for household use including school work
As above. It took ages and many attempts to successfully install, as others have said. Eventually I somehow managed it. Very pleased with the print and the updates installed without any problems.
Since my initial review, I’ve discovered that this printer really is not happy with standard (card type) photo paper. Constant reports of paper jams no matter what I try to remedy. In fact the printer has only managed one sheet despite many many attempts!!
All in all, a decent printer when using ‘paper’, but hopeless if you’re hoping to print photographs on typical photo thickness paper/card.
8 months after purchase I’m still using the ink it came with, would have spent 100 on HP ink by now. Refills are cheaper than others and I can buy each colour CMYK individually. Very easy to use app, decent paper tray that doesn’t jam all the time or fail to feed. Yeah I’m considering it to my previous printer which was half the price but when considering that the business model of the old useless one was to sell at a low a recoup the costs in ink, I don’t think that’s entirely unfair. This is a huge increase in ease of use value for money and quality.
Printer has good printing quality but setting up to connect to my various devices was a pain.
My previous printer was a Brother which had served me well for many years. The new Brother D C P J 1200
appears to be the next step, good hard working printer, good quality, it is a little noisy in action, and larger than the previous model. Very pleased with this produc
Thus far…life changing. I have no idea how I was putting up with a printer from around 2014… I mean it was functioning but the difference between that one and this is shocking. It prints so fast! And with excellent quality! It was easy to setup, it’s easy to use. I’m super happy with it.
As a home office addition it replaced an old brother printer. It has performed very well so far.
I’ve been using Brother Printers for many years & this one’s very good. Sturdy, fairly quick & quiet. My only 2 gripes are, there’s no USB port, which I’ve had on previous printers & always handy, but my biggest gripe is the cost of the replacement inks. Although the quality of the printing is great, I think that the price of replacement ink is just pure greed. I’ve bought 2 replacements so far, but won’t buy anymore; instead I’ll be buying a different printer. Such a shame as I am happy with the printer.
I use both A3 & A4 and having to change paper each time is a bit of a negative. I had a Brother years ago that held and used both paper sizes in 2 separate trays.
It’s a little big but I expected that and set up was extremely easy. Our family downloaded the app to our phones and we were immediately able to print. I expected the colour print to be slightly better but it’s good enough for everyday use.
My only concern is where to buy inks. I cannot find them on Amazon either original or compatible!
**UPDATE** It has stopped printing after a few uses and cannot find out why!! the return date has passed and I simply have not had time to email and phone people to find out the problem! very frustrated and the downside to buying online
