I always use to get cheap printers for under a hundred but this is workhorse thatvi never new i need with paper tray and double side printing easy to connect to wifi and on board control instaed of finiky software of other printers highly recommended for anyone to invest in now
It’s a great printer, I use it at home and it paired pretty well with windows computers as well as with Ubuntu 20.04 (Linux based).
The ink cartridges last longer than I thought and I’m even thinking to buy XXL ones. Great purchase to be hones
Good printer excellent price I signed up to the ink deal and love it. Easy to set up and use what more do you need
Hard to set up, but once set up, use the app.
Works well
Very pleased, set up very easy and first time, prints well, no problems at all. Great for price, 30 cashback paid in a few days.
Easy to set up, compact, comes with the top feed tray set to A5 but this is easily adjustable to A4/A6 or envelopes. Pleased the printing isn’t as slow as I thought it would be. Document feed is only one-sided, and very slow at 1200 x 1200, ok at 300 x 300, this is a flaw! Memory is small, I tried to scan 5 pages at 1200×1200 and it would only do 4, in the end I scanned them at 300 x300. I’m on digital voice, so the fax is superfluous.
For the price, this is a nice little unit. I’m used to business printers, so I want a lot, for home use this is perfectly adequate. If I was still working from home I think I would have gone for a more expensive unit.
I have two Brother laser printers, but find myself preferring this cheaper option for day to day use
First impressions after installing, configuring and running tests with a Windows 10 PC and a couple of iOS devices, are that this printer/scanner/copier/fax machine is that it’s functional, but a bit dated. The physical machine is a bit rattly, the installation process is a bit of a faff, the InstallShield wizards look dated, fax support is probably redundant in most locales (even the NHS has reportedly stopped using faxes), and annoyingly the WiFi only supports 2.4GHz and not 5GHz. The WiFi band is a problem due to the number of IoT devices that only use 2.4GHz – to avoid conflicts, I configure anything that supports 5GHz to use 5GHz, leaving 2.4GHz clear for the smart central heating devices. Buying a new printer and then finding that it ONLY uses 2.4GHz is disappointing/frustrating. However, it works, and the mobile support and multi-device support is significantly better than that of the Canon printer that I had previously. The Quiet mode is good too.
The only dislike is the noise it makes when printing.
It’s good enough for my needs and only took me two hours to install, which is miraculous for me.
We recently moved to a countryside and there is no longer quick access to a store where a quick print can be done.
We were looking for a while for a printer, there are the cheap 40 EUR ones and expensive over 200 ecotank ones, neither option suited us really, cheap is cheap and we don’t really need a expensive ecotank printer, for occasional printing. We found that most lasers while can be cheaper, will miss features.
After many weeks of search, we came to this model and found that it does the job perfect. It’s set up wirelessly on our home network and supports AirPrint. It was crucial that Airprint would be present, as we are deep in Apple ecosystem.
Scan quality could be better, but it’s honestly easier now to make .pdf’s from your iPhone rather than the actual scanner. Prints fast and is good at making copies.
If you are a household that needs to print every once in a while, I can confidently recommend this printer. Not sure if it will be ok for a small office, but there is an option to put in larger inc cartridges.
I bought this after much deliberation.
I threw out my old HP in anger after it failed me one time too many, it had been horribly expensive to run too the git.
I suspected that’s just what printers were these days, a glitchy con.
I was wrong.
I bought my new best friend. What a delight, a joy to be around and converse with, in fact every device that can print just does. First time. No drivers. No apps, just functional perfection
Double sided – boom!
Hopefully it’ll be the last one I ever have to buy
Reasonable price to enjoy the all-in-one printer functions. I usually use it to print document, and sometimes print photos (kaola 200g).
I can say the photo quality is not the best, but I think it is acceptable, and little bit red. If you need to print high quality photo, perhaps consider another one; but to me, it is sufficient enough for daily use.
As this model only has 1 paper slot. I need to change the paper with several step in setting the printer. It will be better to have two paper slots model if you always need to print document and photos.
Nice printer but had to use a lot of ink to print off the sizeable manual which you need to be able to fathom out the various things it can do, I keep the double sided manual in a box file that’s how big it is. Trying to buy the inks is not easy on the Brother website the single ink cartridges are out of stock to buy all 4 is very expensive. I had to find somewhere online that would sell the individual inks could not find on Amazon. It is a good printer but you need the manual, the inks do last a long time I used the inks quickly because I was trying to print off the manual.
I like Brother printers I like this printer I am not a novice where printers are concerned my previous printer was a Brother but they have the same problem when something goes wrong it is usually terminal and I needed a printer urgently, it never occurred to me to check the cost of the inks so if you are on a budget check all your costs before buying.
I am happy with this printer but I think Brother should include a more comprehensive manual in the box in English it doesn’t need to be in loads of different languages, English is an international language the other languages should be downloadable and make sure the cost of the inks both individually and multiple are visible.
This printer was a bit fiddly to install mainly because in the product description on Amazon it stated it had an ethernet connection, but this model MFC-J4340DW doesn’t! I installed the app for it on my laptop to set it up and my computer kept telling me the printer was not found, yet it is in my list and is working fine! It prints very well and the ink doesn’t soak into the paper, which is good. I have just had a go at creating a duplex booklet and it has worked fine in that too. You just have to ensure you set up all the correct instructions, like which side to flip, size paper etc. But once it is set up it works very well. Will follow up with another review if I come across any problems etc.
