Liked the prompt delivery! A very good printer and a perfect update to my old brother printer which lasted many years.
Originally bought a cheap printer with printer ink contract. Was rubbish as didnt work. Never connected to wi fi and was so problematic! So I sent it back and bought this one. Quick and reliable to set up. Print quality very good and quick. Even photo’s come out reasonably well. I don’t print a great deal but still havene;t replaced the original cartridges.
I bought this after much deliberation.
I threw out my old HP in anger after it failed me one time too many, it had been horribly expensive to run too the git.
I suspected that’s just what printers were these days, a glitchy con.
I was wrong.
I bought my new best friend. What a delight, a joy to be around and converse with, in fact every device that can print just does. First time. No drivers. No apps, just functional perfection
Double sided – boom!
Hopefully it’ll be the last one I ever have to buy
Once fully installed the printer is great to use. My only complaint is that you do need a printer cable but once it is fully running it is a dream.
Very happy with this printer, good quality build. Is fast and printing quality is grea
The instructions on how to link the printer to Wi-Fi and then devices to the printer are poor. I only resolved this by accessing independent sites for advice. Once up-and-running the printer is brilliant.
I didn’t know this brand before but it’s worth the money spent! Very easy to use and superfast with normal quality print (which is still very good),it takes a little longer if you select “fine” print but which machine doesn’t do that?
Best office equipment I ever bought.
Bought to replace a Canon Pixma as that sucked for wireless printing from a Phone.
This Brother one is ace, prints no problem. Easy to set up on mobile and PC. Used it to print 50 invites.
Please note the additional ink supplied with this printer is wrong. The cartridges are to small to fit printer. Thankyou Amazon for conning me..not happy..
Printing from phone is a doddle. Excellent home printer for our simple needs.
It has many functions and works well, but it took me a few attempts to learn how to operate it as it doesn’t come with operating instructions, just a comprehensive set-up guide. I’m very pleased with it. I like the option of printing on both sides of the paper.
I was having problems with my previous printer due to poor WiFi connectivity. Bought the Brother MFC-J4540DW because it had an RJ45 connection. Connected this to a powerline adapter and problem solved.
I have found the print and scan quality excellent. Other plus points include the fast first print times. No more waiting yonks while the printer decides to do a head clean. Works seamlessly from my phone.
Only down side I have found is that the cost of ink cartridges are a bit high. Hopefully compatible ones will reappear again.
This was replacing a previous Brother printer which I had had and it was well used for many years – so wanted another of the same make. It’s a good quality printer and easy to use
This is the best printer I have owned. I use it with wireless connectivity only and it works! Far superior to my HP wireless printer. I am also impressed with Brother’s software updates – well done!
The most expensive printer I have bought. Got fed up buying HP cheapies, never worked properly. This Brother printer is really good , thought it would be too complicated for my old brain but was easy to install. The quality of the prints are very good as well.Very happy with it.
Quite a few problems setting it up, very different to my previous Epson and doesn’t always obey my “print” order leaving me with a long-winded approach to actual printing, the print head needed a good clean to start with, it is surprisingly fast but prone to paper jams.
I looked long and hard for a good reliable and easy to use printer for my business. Thre seemed to be so many conflicting positives and negatives about each model. My mother had used a ‘Brother’ typewriter years ago and swore by its reliability but I had always been a HP or Xerox chap. However….I am so so so GLAD I chose this printer as it does EVERYTHING I need it to ! Absolutely Brilliant. It scans, copies and prints using wife – ha ha or even WiFi… from some distance in the house too and it will even scan in multiple pages. Just amazing. Always thought Brother were American but it seems good old reliable Japanese kit (though I must admit the US does produce some great technology as well). Anyway well done Brother Machines and thank you !! UPDATE (after 3 months of ownership I have checked ink usage and it uses very very little. This printer is still performing sterling work – only caution is it does not like a very cold office and whilst it will print a warning that the temperature is cold does show up). But I cannot recommend this little printer enough – just brilliant, reliable and cheap to run.
A neat, small white printer out of the box. Easy to set up and print a test sheet from the printer. However, the Wi-Fi was another matter. Despite inputting the correct BT codes it would not recognise them, going around in circles. Problem only soved by connecting a USB cable to iMac and downloading from brother’s website…several times! I got it working and it is producing good quality prints. Why brother has such a complicated system is beyond me. Never had such problems with my defunct Canon. I use 200gsm paper a lot: it jams if you try to print two sides…easy to unjam though. No problem with normal 80gsm paper.
Deduct one star for software, otherwise recommended. Liked: ink system and capacity, print quality.
Disliked: Small and complicated setup screen — too clever by half. Note to brother: keep it simple!
Like all new printers it takes a while to learn the way it works. As usual the method of doing everything is obvious to the designer and can be difficult to discover by the user. It is now an accepted part of the family.
This is an excellent all rounder printer / photocopier. Installation was a breeze. It prints well without an issue, duplex is a doddle. This replaces a Canon printer, which although gave excellent results was a nightmare to get onto duplex mode printing, it was supposed to be automatic, but was anything but. The canon has an wxtremely annoying, head alignment, head checking routine which it would repeat frequently too much carriege return whirring and chugging and rattling. This Brothre is marvellous. I have been using it for several months and cannot fault it, it is a bit big, but that is a small niggle compared to its ease of use. Do yourself a favour and buy one whilst they are still available. If you see initial rrp they are currently a bargain price too
I do most of my printing in monochrome on an HP Laserjet and bought this a few weeks ago only for occasional color printing. So far, so good. Wireless connectivity has been very sound. Software installed easily and worked fine. Color printing seems of a high quality for a relatively low-priced machine,. I have not tried photo-quality printing so cannot comment on this. Copy function works well. I keep the printer on at all times when it falls-back to sleep mode – but wakes up impressively quickly when you print. Two-sided printing works fine, although I have only done this for single sheets. Ink is relatively expensive, but cartridges are fairly large, so I hope should last well. WOULD UNHESITATINGLY RECOMMEND ON THE BASIS OF MY EXPERIENCE SO FAR.
I previously had a Canon Pixma MG 7550 which was very good but kept telling me that the wrong printhead was installed!
I did worry that the three colour tanks on this device would produce an inferior photo print than the 4 (inc grey) on the Canon but surprisingly, I can’t detect any difference in quality. This is solidly built and includes plenty of ink (to last a year I seem to recall). The copier works quickly and well. Very difficult to fault if a bit pricey.
