Now on my third case of this type, two without plastic base and last one with and would definetaly recommend the hard plactis base. You can bye them without for about 20 cheaper but where they get dragged on the floor especially in the wet they always wearout and eventually split. Overal a very useful case designed for electricians but l use it in the fire extinguisher servicing indusry.

This is the fourth bag I’ve had, very durable but I use them a lot so they wear out. My only gripe is the strength of the shoulder strap buckles which fail (for me) within 4-5 months of use.

Have bought CK gear for years, great case, carries all the tools and meters I need as well as paperwork, only let down which happens on all CK cases I’ve had the top zip for center area flap has split again, this is not due to overloading it just seems to just fall apart after about 6 months.

2 months in and so far so good. Centre part holds my 16″ laptop which is in protective case, iPad, A4 folder and hard back note pad. Drop down Sides filled with most tools I need. Fully loaded its pretty heavy. No issues with zips yet. Thread is coming loose on a pocket flap but no concern. Perfect for what I need and would definitely recommend.

Good thick canvas type material. It has good centre of gravity on uneven surface and did not fall over. Tons of pocket spaces on the insides. The middle compartment can take a laptop and is well protected. It’s a good bit of kit. Glad I bought it and look forward to see it holds up in the work world over the coming months.

    Sturdy and solid case

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI bought this to carry my most used tools when visiting vessels, plenty of storage for most common hand tools and large a centre storage for test meters spanner roll and iPad, it’s quite a lump to carry empty and now weighs in at 12.5kg loaded. As long as you don’t overload the compartments I can see this standing up to most abuse in the field. I like the fact it has a solid base to reduce the risk of water or oil soaking into the bottom of the bag.

I reviewed all of the other storage cases available and for me this was the best of the bunch.

    Good sturdy storage

I’ve had two of these so far and the problem with both is the cheap, cast ‘white metal’ shackles on the strap. They’re nowhere near as durable as the rest of the bag and snap within a few months. (Currently using the strap off one of my old Stanley Fat Max toolbags, which is far superior to the standard strap.)

Having had this bag for 3 years now, I use it daily for all my electrical work and boiler servicing.

The two sides have enough slots for all the screwdrivers you’ll need as well as pockets for pliars and many other hand tools you might require

What a great bit of kit this is. I am an engineer for a London Bus company, and on certain days I need to be on the go with a specific set of tools. This bag has oodles of storage space, easy/comfortable to carry about, and keeps everything visible and easy to get to.

The fact that it is quite easy on the eye (if you like this sort of thing!) has left some of my colleagues a bit green with envy, and they are looking at investing in one too!!!

Great kit, does the job. I would recommend this bag to all.

So much storage, I use a compact Stanley tray carrier that fits perfectly inside for all my small bits and bobs. The bag can get heavy if you put too much stuff inside it had it has a lot of storage. Like with any bag, careful not to over stretch or pull the zip mechanism sideways as you can damage it.

I’ve had this product coming up to a year now and I have to say it still looks brand new. Not only does it still look fantastic its a joy to use with pockets, hoops, holders and compartments to keep every tool you’ll ever need in and organised.

Gone are the days where I spent many and hour a day looking for the right tool and trying to keep track of them whilst on a job.

I feel four stars is a fair judgement as I’d like to have more padding in the sholderstrap cover to ease with long days carrying such a heavy load (bag full of tools).

Once again C.K have made one of the best bag on the market.

I do a lot of Cat 5, Cat 6, CCTV, WiFi installations and I needed a bag for all my tools so I could grab it and go.

It seems well made and I do get my tools into the bag but it doesn’t seem to have been designed by someone who uses the tools most people would put in it and so all tools fit in by fudging it. It’s not as if “screw drivers go here”….”snipping tools go there” etc but it does work and I’m happy with it.

Only thing a bit annoying is the centre pocket with a zip around top. If you fill either zip down side with tools, they push the wall of the centre pocket inwards and that can be annoying.

Would I buy again….yes, unless there is a more specific bag for my tool types.

This is to replace my previous identical case bought over 7 years ago. Has been superb bit of kit. I work as a marine surveyor all over the world and this case has given years of good service. Zips now failing after a lot of miles. Strap clips failed after 6 years, but replaced with a small shackle. With the solid bottom (Plus part) it is great when left standing on wet ground, or deck of a boat. Big enough to get laptop, documents plus tools etc inside. Small enough to be a carry on bag when flying. 100% reccomend.

I’m a maintenance operative and need a variety of tools at hand. Once the tools are in, its quite heavy, but i’ve reduced the number of tools I take all the time. It’s a good bag. I didn’t like the way they allowed space on one side the elastic straps are side ways rather than from the top. I would had preferred elastic rather than the pockets for screwdrivers or chisels etc. Theres quite a few pockets for drill sets pliers etc. The centre space has a good amount room, either for a lap top or cordless drill etc. All round it’s a good bag for the price.

It’s not the perfect bag by no means but none the less it’s built well and very sturdy. So long as you don’t overload it with tools then the zips last very well and the central compartment of the bag is really quite spacious. I can fit most of my tools as well as an 18v combi drill into the bag and a big hacksaw which fits ok into the central compartment. Overall a decent bag

A couple of cable ties and I’m back in business! These are great bags the best in my opinion for organising your tools and build quality. Am looking to buy another in due course.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis bag is just great. It’s bigger than what you expect it to be from the images. They really don’t do it justice, pockets, pockets and more pockets. They really are everywhere on this and the space you have to work with is awesome. Very happy customer here. Oh and the ID pouch is a nice addition. The side panels have a nice amount of wiggle room, so no need to worry about overfilling it too easily and it bulging like it’s about to explode. the inner compartment is big enough to fit 3 of my laptops in with their charges and still has room to spare. One recommendation to the manufacturer would be to include a divider for the inner compartment, though that’s more of a nit pick.

All in all It’s a very nice bag and for the price I would say it’s better in build quality than I was expecting for the price. Very happy with my new work companion.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a good strong sturdy bag. If you are looking for something lightweight it’s not for you.
If however you are looking for something strong, that will hold all your tools, laptop and paperwork then boy it’s a good bag.
The waterproof base is tough and I have had it out on sites with wet floors – great.
The stitching is good. The zip lid is good although a tiny bit fiddly on occasions.
Pockets are strong as are the flaps.
    I rate this bag 10/10.
    Excellent value for money

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersEssential tool bag for any electrician / tradesman. This is my third Magma bag in 5 years and they are definitely worth the money. This one here is about as good as it gets with a hard base which the other version doesn’t have. It means you can put it down on the ground anywhere and water and dirt doesn’t get into the bag, or damage it. I would always go for this version which is a little heavier, but really unnoticeably once loaded with your tools, but if you’re only ever working in dry clean environments and would never put the bag down outside then perhaps look at the CK standard Technicians Tool Case.

I use it with one side screwdrivers and similar and then other side pliers etc. The middle has some larger tools and things that wont fit in the pockets and then all the pockets are used for smaller tools. Also has useful zipped compartments and divider which holds paperwork and A4 notebook for me.

Good for seeing what’s inside your tool bag but the zips are not very good. On opening up packaging to the bag the zips looked crooked to start with. work with oils so see how long it will last.

Working as an electrician, this bag allows me to take my essential tools to site along with my folder and a small laptop, all safe and secure.
Plenty of storage pockets for those extra ‘bits and pieces’.
Comfortable to wear, even when fully loaded and heavy.
Good solid base, so it doesn’t fall over like others I’ve seen.
I will purchase one for each team member as the team grows.

It’s the slightly bigger bag but only slightly. Had it a few months now and it’s still as sturdy as the day I got it. I was hoping the width was going to be wider then the other bag but it seems to be the same. Still a great tool bag that should last me a couple of years or more, my last one was 3 or 4 years old when the Zips went, not bad considering its used nearly every day and not exactly cared for.

Would have received 5 stars but both catchs on the shoulder strap have broken. And now been replaced with bolts. All my tools fit into all the compartments and zips don’t struggle to close. It is heavy when loaded but shoulder strap should of lasted. Happy other wise.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI have been using this tool bag since the 10th June 2015, and have to say it is fantastic. This replaced an old plastic box that was big and bulky. I wanted a bag rather than a box, and with all the pockets that it had, thought that it would keep my tools in their own sections so that I could access them easier.

I have gathered tools over many years, so now thing I have a tool for virtually all jobs that come up. I like the straps that hold my screwdrivers in place, I like the pockets to hold spanners, the straps to hold pliers and hammers, the pockets to hold testers, grips, glasses etc. The main compartment is huge and holds tools at the bottom to the top. I did also buy 2 sets of bags ( C.K Magma 3 Pocket Pack ) to keep all the small bits in. The combination of the two makes this the best bag that I have ever owned.

Quality wise, the construction is good, with the base having feet and a better base for protection. There is also a carry strap.

    Brilliant bag.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have had this bag for 2 years now, its still going strong, even with the absurd amount of tools i have put in there, i don’t use the shoulder strap as i think with the amount of stuff i have crammed in there it may not hold but if you dont plan on filling it to the point of bursting then i would say that it will hold up well. In mine i have been able to fit the following in:

    Set of 6 VDE Screwdrivers
    3 Other Normal Screwdrivers
    7 Ratchet Spanners
    Set of Hex Keys
    Stanley Knife
    Wire Strippers
    Ratchet Crimper
    2 Wire Cutters
    2 pair pliers
    2 adjustable spanners
    Set of Watchmakers
    Voltage Detector Pen
    Digital Volt Meter
    Socket Tester
    Dremel (Including Case)
    Junior Hacksaw
    Small Spirit Level
    16oz Claw Hammer
    Gas Soldering Iron
    Caulking Gun
    Tube of Decorators Caulk
    Magnetic Parts Dish
    Magnetic Pick Up Tool
Claw action flexible Pick Up Tool
    Inspection Mirror
    Torch
    Leatherman
    Right ANgled Screwdriver
    Electric Screw Driver
    Tuning Tools
    Tweezers
Electrical (Neon Light Up) Screwdrivers x2
    Pens/Sharpies
    Insulation Tape
    Aluminium Tape
    Can of Butane Gas
    Can of WD40
    Can of Compressed Air
    Solder Sucker
    Pack of Crimps
    4 way utility Key
    Set of Mini Files
    Mole Grips
    Stud Detector
    Pair of Gloves

May well have more in there but cant think off the top of my head, but you can see that you can fit an enormous amount in there, i’m about to part with more of my hard earned cash and get the matching tool tote to take some of the load from my bag and to also pop my drill in.

I would recommmend this to most people, I use mine on a fairly regular basis (although it is never put through any physical hardship, it just sits on the floor whereever i need access to it.

Pocket inside the large compartment is ideal for paper work.

I think this would be suited to an electrician or light duties handyman. Or probably better suited to the DIY enthusiast at home.
If i could post pictures of how well my bag has coped with so much i would. (Youd be impressed yourself)

Great case with a lot of place to put tools and various equipment, the case is quite heavy empty in first place and the zip are a bit hard to go round the corners, the opening in the middle is not very wide, but it was a good bargain in black friday.
I use mine as a craft tote

I’m re-training as an electrician and building up a basic set of tools and kit that I’ll need to get me going and this was my first purchase. I almost bought the other version of this tool case which isn’t the “plus version”, but changed my order at the last minute due to reading about some issues with the quality of the zips.

I have to say this is the best quality tool case I’ve seen and I’ve worked with a few engineers in my time. It looks fantastic and you can tell it’s built to last. Thankfully the zips on the plus case are decent strong zips and I’m not worried about them failing.
Internally there are more pockets and storage space than I thought there would be, meaning that everything now has its place and there’s room for all the other bits and pieces I’m bound to acquire over the next few months.

Top quality and a fair price, I’m expecting this case to last me many years. I’m a big believer in spending on quality kit that’s going to last and this doesn’t disappoint.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersThere a some pretty in depth reviews on here so I’ll just highlight a few points that might have been missed.

There is no place for a full sized hacksaw! If the bag was just one inch longer, it would have been perfect. As it stands, my CK heavy duty hacksaw will have to live in another tool bag – It just about fits in the middle section but I keep my laptop in there so that won’t do.

The middle section could have done with a lightweight fabric divider, to separate books and laptops.

It would have been nice if the large elasticated slots were staggered.

I guess the point about the hacksaw can be forgiven as it is marketed as a ‘technicians’ tool bag and I guess a junior hacksaw would be more appropriate in this case, but it makes a good sparky bag as well so it would be nice. Even a set of fabric Velcro loops on the outside would suffice.

Other than these small points it’s a great tool bag and it means I can finally take my tools and commissioning laptop/paperwork on site all in one bag.

Points that could be better for, nearly 50.

Access into middle pocket not as wide as I’d have thought.

Some of the retainers to screwdrivers and tools etc are a little ridge and might end up pulling the stitching.

Zips are a little cumbersome and they route snags a bit

    Good points

    Loads of pockets.

Nicely lined middle pocket for Ipad etc.

    A4 size pockets for documents.

    Looks the part.

Overall I would recommend it, not sure it’s worth 50.00 more like 30.00.

Perfect technician case, as you would expect from CK tools.

Quite large but not too heavy (without tools though) it is manageable.

I ordered mine on Black Friday and thought what’s inside hasnt been heavily used, tje case comes with me most places in my car, out every night, and is used very often for an odd tool or minor work durjng my travels.

It doesn’t show a sign of wear except on the bottom and even that looks to have stood up well. Zips and handles are very strong. As are the loops and pockets for storage.

This tool bag was ordered with high expectations given the make and my previous experience of their other tool holding systems/ bags, it did not disappoint.

It is bigger than it appears in the pictures, bigger than a briefcase for example but the quality is great, I expect many years of service from it and I am enjoying buying quality tools to fill it with.

Dont be put off by the price, it will last. The only downside is that it is quite heavy, even empty but I suppose that is an effect of the high quality materials used in its construction and the shoulder strap means it can be easily carried.

    Buy it………………

After using this bag everyday over the last year I can qualify that it is both robust and full of space to load with tools.
My bag is extremely heavy and so far no breakages of the straps or zips, all elasticated tool holders are still intact and considering some monumental wastes of money in the past with tool boxes and bags this product still impresses.

(No 5 stars because I would still liked to have paid less for it )

I’m an IT technician and this bag really fits the bill. I’ve been looking for something like this for several years, and have till now just used laptop bags. I’ve been out on several jobs in the wet this January and this bag seems nicely water resistant. Its very tough and durable. Organised well, plenty of pockets and dividers, so I was able to transfer my existing tool-kit easily into this. Plus the benefit of a secure padded inner section to house a net-book and tablet, but large enough to hold a full sized laptop if required.

here is plenty of storage space in the middle and there are plenty of pockets and sections for every type of tool. it keeps everything very organised and makes it a lot easier to find your tools and see if they’ve been left behind or stolen as well because you notice the space is free where the tool is meant to be. zip parts to keep documents in which is ideal for building plans etc. padded straps and handles stop the heavy tools in the bag from causing the straps to cut into your hands and shoulders when carrying it!

I was used to travel with heavy tool cases in the past, I had to carry in addition to my suitcase, laptop case… It was really a pain. Now, C.K. Magma tool bag makes my life easier; lighter, I do not have to pay for extra baggage weight at check-in; comfortable, I can walk with it for hours without feeling shoulder pain and climb hospital stairs without worries; robust, even when checked in on flights, never got a problem; large room for tools and a lot of useful pockets. Tip: I used the central compartment, originally designed to store a laptop, to store my small instruments, DVM, fiber inspector, do that they are well protected when flying.

For many many years I have used hard sided ABS cases for my work. This case is so much better in many ways. It has loads of loops for storing tools and extra storage pouches for small parts cable ties and insulation tape etc. When I am working in a tight space I can still access by unzipping the top, I don’t have to open the sides fully. The inside compartment is big enough the larger items such as the multimeter sprays etc. I also like the shoulder strap. Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersExcellent value but a few small changes would make a big difference and delivery was very prompt. :-). The quality of this case is a lot higher than you would expect for the price paid. I have used this case as a CCTV service engineer every day since receiving it, so I’ve had time to get to know the ups and downs… the ups apart from the ones I’ve already mentioned both the handle and shoulder strap are well padded and easy to carry without cutting into you.( and if like me you have to park some way from your job.. the joys of pedestrianised town centres ) Easy access to your tools even without opening it up all the way, Great for working in confined spaces. 🙂
Not so good… while some of the pockets are elasticated for the screwdrivers etc not all are and not very wide, so your limited to what will fit in. also the outer zipped covers have very little give so again very limited to what you fit in. Expendable sides would mean you could fit all your bits in without struggling with the zips 🙁

This bag is absolutely fantastic! I was looking for ages to find a good bag to hold all of my tools in. I use this tool case for computer repair.

It holds all of my screwdrivers, it has pockets which were very useful. Holding portable disc drive, anti-static wristband, foldable keyboard. There is a slot in the middle of the bag which can hold a laptop, I prefer to keep my laptop in its own bag which I know is suitable. So even more space to hold tools and the iPad! The zip pocket to the back of that holds papers, which is always useful.

It also came with some sort of tag which you can register to the website so if the tool case is found, the tag can be reported on the website and you can get your tool case back!

The case is amazing, best I have found on the web. Always recommending this to my friends.

This has to be the most decent PC tool kit case I’ve had, to date (Fix PC’s and laptops/servers/websites/DIY etc etc) and it has a ton of space, which I think I can easily fit 2 or 3 laptops into just the middle compartment alone..

The only downside is, the zips are mega stiff, but then they are heavy duty, so I just never do them up past the sides.

Overall though, wicked… Seems really sturdy, well made and exceptionally durable. They could have made the handles a bit longer, and a few internal dividers for the huge centre compartment but not a deal breaker..

    only thing can be improved!
Zips should have bigger hooks for locking it.locking is necessary not for secure your tools from stealing.however, some friend will take your tools and never return it,when you are not around.their intention is not to steal.but some people have this habit.

No surprises, arrived on time and as I had the previous version new what to expect. The case is VERY handy for easy access to essential tools and easy to pack everything away. I’m a heating engineer and it does take a bit of re-arranging to get everything to fit neatly so the sections open and close smoothly, but once organised does the job perfectly. Image is often as important in most trades as everything else, and this bag opened up to show a comprehensive and neatly ordered set of good tools looks professional, organised and efficient, and that can only be a good thing. Great piece of kit all round.

Lots of places to store all the tools with a very good deep pocket in the middle of the bag that can hold two cordless drills and batteries. Zips are big and tough and the base is strong enough to take all the bounding from being thrown around the van. Very happy with this case and I am sure it will last for years.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI am a trainee electrician and have had to invest in a tool bag. There are many on the market and after reading numerous reviews, I decided on the CK Magma. This is the latest version of the Magma, which has been improved over the older version.

First impressions are one of smart, head turning design – I get many people admiring it! The construction is very strong and after a month of usage, I have had no problems. The zips are very robust and the material stands up to an electrician’s wear and tear, which can sometimes mean building sites and a lot of dust!

The handle, which is in two parts, is brought together via a velcro wrap and is very padded, making it very comfortable to hold and carry, particularly with heavy contents. There is a padded shoulder strap, which is useful, but only with medium or light loads, there is not enough padding for heavy loads and I got a sore shoulder from trying to carry it that way! By heavy I mean in excess of 10kgs.

I have yet to find a bag that is 100% perfect to my requirements of pockets, compartments and sleaves, but this bag gets close, say about 85% of the way there, which, for me, is excellent. Most bags don’t come near that! I have managed to get all the tools I require for work into it, albeit, with a bit of a brain test jigsaw!

There are essentially, three main compartments, one on each side, unzips fully to fold down 90 degrees and a center pocket, that is big enough for laptops or a ring binder / books. On the outside of one side is a triangular shaped, zipped pocket, which I haven’t really found a use for yet! Inside, on one side are five vertical pockets and 25 elasticated horizontal holders. I have 19 screwdrivers, two types of wire strippers, three chisels, a multi meter, hacksaw and hex key set in this side. In the other side, I have a zipped canvas tool case and so I don’t use the 8 sleeves, but it also has 10 vertical pockets, which I use for pliers, cutters and other small sundry items. There are also two zippered compartments in this side. At both ends of the bag, there are a velcro pockets for mobile phones and sundries.

This bag is easy to zip up. All three compartments have double matching zips, which are, indeed, very strong and robust. The bag has a substantially large, strong rubber base.

Could the bag be improved? Well, for me, yes. I carry a lot of tools which are very heavy, so perhaps CK could come up with a wheeled / trolley version? That would make the ultimate in bags for me! That’s why I have given this bag a four star grade… Lack of wheels means heavy to carry – bare in mind that electricians can’t always park near to where they work! Otherwise an excellent product, worthy of the price tag!
