Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFor 99 I wasn’t expecting much, but the product and the picture quality is truly amazing. Printing card is expensive at 18 for 36 but you do get an ink bar with it. It’s so easy to use too. Also, I highly recommend you use authentic Canon paper and printer ink, I’ve heard and seen some nasty things about the cheaper substitute stuff and to be fair, I wouldn’t want to use anything else anyway. You get what you pay for.

5.0 out of 5 stars An absolute must for any budding amateur photographer.

I had an old upright version of this printer but can no longer obtain paper for it so purchased the CP1000. One third the size and faster. Am very pleased with it and the carry case. The paper/ink pack is a bit pricy now but overall a good buy.

What a great product it is very easy to use and gives professional quality photos, it has a few simple editing tools so you can print straight from your camera it is also nice and small so it can fit into my camera bag although I still need to get the battery for it. I would recommend this to anybody who wants good pictures printed at home.

I have had one of these for a few years now and it has been great, so bought this one to give to a friend for Christmas. I’m sure he will be as pleased as I am with it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHi everyone ordered this printer thinking you get ink and paper with it but you don’t get any think with it only the power supply and manuals so you must order ink and paper with it I must say up to now I’ve printed a few fotos off and the have been very good it’s just the cost of the ink cartridges what makes it bad but as the say if you want good quality you need to pay a lot to look at the ink cartridge you cannot use fill up inks

I received this the other day and connected it up to try it. It’s smaller than I imagined, which is a plus for me as I want to take it away in our motorhome, and very neat. It works well and the print quality is very good. I’m well pleased. Be aware that it prints each colour individually so the paper goes out and then back in four times, not all colours at once like a standard printer.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI love this printer. We had the previous model which died on us last year after using it for about 7-8 years so we decided to purchase the newer version. There is even a newer one that works via wifi, but I wanted the model working via the cable, which is this one. Pictures are coming out great and the resolution is way better than the one you get from the mainstream photo labs (ie Boots). So far we are very pleased with the printer. The only thing we were not expecting is that the software we used for the previous model does not work with this one and it was not updated at all so we cannot find a newer version. The previous software allowed you to chose what region of the image to print, could zoom in/out, move the area to left, right, up, down. just enough flexibility for easy photo printing when you do not want to open Photoshop for minor adjustments. That’s why I’m giving it 4 of 5.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersAs per the title, I had this set up with some software called “DSLR Booth” alongside a Logitech C920 HD Pro USB 1080p Webcam and this green screen/lighting kit: Photography Studio Softbox Kit for my DIY photobooth at my wedding. Worked perfectly, the prints are very high quality and not too expensive for the paper/ink sets. The size of print is great for sticking into a photobook – we had people stick them in a book and write messages alongside. Now we have a book full of photos of our (drunken) friends and some lovely (and some hilariously inappropriate) messages to remember our wedding day.

Switching the paper and ink is also really easy – we left some basic instructions and our wedding guests sorted it out as they went along.

The prints do take a little while to come out as it does each colour in turn (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow – can’t remember if it then does black separately?) and for each colour it prints it, pushes the paper out, then pulls it back in to do the next, however we found that it was not a problem because people take a long-ish time to get set up for photos etc. and also don’t mind coming back in a few minutes if needed.

    Recommended!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersMy SELPHY photo printer gives me superb quality prints and works very well. BUT the ink and paper are extremely expensive: I am paying 79 to print just 103 photos. Where can I get cheaper supplies??

My Husband is extremely pleased with this product does what it is supposed to do.
This is the second one he has had as the first one developed a line across photos after a while.
He hopes this one does not do the same.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought as a present — expensive one, but photos that come out are superb. Once you fit the front loading tray, it needs at least the same space allowed on the back, as paper goes to and fro as CMYK is processed; ie. operating space is quite larger than specified dimensions. It is quite noisy whirling paper around and working. It is also slightly disappointing that it doesn’t have AirPrint, or WiFi ability. But. Pictures produced are extremely good quality. Price per print is more than going to print shop, but for one-offs, superb!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis was a replacement for a 4×6 HP printer that finally gave up the ghost. We use it to print images for creating greeting cards so it does not get used too heavily. The trade off between the cost of the consumables and the quality achieved is fair. It has one quirk whereby if you want to print more then one image per sheet you cannot do it directly from a computer, instead you must print from a memory card – however it is straightforward and the menu is intuitive. Very pleased.

Golden Review Award: 53 From Our UsersBefore I sing its praises a word of warning: It does not come with any printing paper or cartridges, you need to buy these seperately and the one I use is: Canon KP-108IN Ink and Paper Set for Selphy CP Series Photo Printers. This contains 108 postcard size sheets and the cartridges to print them on this machine.

I am delighted with my new Selphy CP1000. It does everything I would want it to do, given that I only want 6×4 postcard sized prints and it is tailor made for this purpose. The prints I would describe as being highly satisfactory, alright, if you were to hand your prints in to a professional lab, you would get (hopefully) a more definitive result but you would also pay significantly more for it and wait considerably longer, with the Selphy you get your prints right away and I find the quality to be better than many online labs which process prints from your upload and mail them to you.

I will turn to the questions raised by many about the machine not being compatible with Windows 10; it is easy to overcome this, as I do all the time, you upload your photos to whatever software you use and I use Windows bog standard own now that Picassa has ceased, do your editing then transfer your results to a standard USB flash drive (an 8gb flash drive holds lots and they are under 3 if you scroll for them on Amazon) I only need an 8gb since I load up a dozen photos, print them, then delete them from the flash drive and start again. The Selphy accepts USB flash drives perfectly. I also use an old, but superb and reliable Olympus camera which uses xd picture cards. The handbook states that the machine accepts xd picture cards but they cannot be inserted without an adapter and I haven’t tried this since I find it better to edit my photos on my laptop first then transfer them the flash drive which is so, easy just drag and drop. There are basic editing functions on the Selphy.

Some have been disgruntled by the prints having perforated edges which have to be torn off after printing. I have no problem with this, they tear easily and the perforations are very fine, almost indiscernible, but even if this troubles you, you can easily trim the edges.

The prints emerge dry and are very long lasting, they fit snugly in a 6×4 pocket type album.

I like it and I am glad I bought it, arrived next day by Amazon Prime. I accept that if you are a pro photographer and want ultra high end results or need large gallery sized prints, this will not be for you, but for most general purposes it is fine.

Golden Review Award: 31 From Our UsersBought this for my 80 year old Grandad who has an iPad and loves to take photos. Well he gets on with it amazingly, easy to use and cheaper than printing at Boots if you want to replace papers/inks. You need very little technical knowledge for this case and it also has turned out to be very portable too as its only a bit bigger than a photo itself.

Golden Review Award: 52 From Our UsersBought this as a birthday present for my (elderly) dad who takes pictures on his small Nikon point and shoot, then can’t do anything with them because he has no computer to download them to and can’t be arsed to go to Boots that often to get them processed (and can’t work the machines in there without help anyway). Thankfully, this home printer was ultra easy to use – we opted for plugging the camera in via a cable rather than trying to remove the SD card with trembly old fingers. Print options could be easily selected from the camera screen, no need to use the printer screen if you don’t want to, and it was literally just one or two clicks to get our photos printed out.

The printer takes one piece cartridges, so you can’t replace individual inks. A 3 pack of cartridges and 108 sheets of paper are around the 20 mark. Please note, this model is not supplied with any paper or ink up front. You load the (separately purchased) paper into a plastic tray which then slots into the front of the machine. There’s another slot in the side for replacing the cartridges. When not in use the slots are hidden by plastic flaps, so it all looks nice and tidy and streamlined and compact.

The paper is standard 6 x 4 size, glossy finish, and has white side boarders which you can remove after printing by tearing down the perforated edges. The printer works by laying down different colours over separate passes – ie feeds the paper back and forth a bit like when a photo copier does a double sided print – yellow first, then red I think, then finally blue green. You get natural looking slightly subdued prints – no Fuji greens or Agfa reds here, but I quite like the subtlety myself. The print quality is fine, though obviously not lab quality. The photos are immediately dry and ready to pass round.

I think this is a great printer for the money, small, portable, easy to use, and most of all provides instant gratification!

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersCanon have failed to develop a driver compatible with Windows 10 and do not expect to do so until after April 2016. I regard this as unacceptable and indicating a lack of customer focus. However, since Windows 10 was upgraded to version 1511 recently I have been able to use the printer with the Windows 8 driver. The printer is compact, appears robustly constructed and is easy to use.
