Starter scope for grand daughter easy to set up and easy for her to use only on the moon so far, will try saturn when it’s higher in the sky ,the finder scope is basic will up grade to 950 for her apart from that excellent scope

What can I say about this one it’s a nice low budget telescope and looks really smart in the front room but then it’s not meant to be an ornament is it, it was easy enough to assemble took me about half an hour between unboxing and assembly, that was the easy part, it appears to be quite well made with a reasonably steady tripod it’s not heavy to carry either, my problem was trying to focus it I found the finder scope very hard to focus and the whole experience very tedious and freezing trying to view the moon in the month of February isn’t a lot of fun in the west of Ireland, with your eyes watering from the cold, alot of foustering in the dark also even with red headlight which wasn’t a whole lot of good either I couldn’t see much but I think I need to learn more on YouTube so I’ll try to get more info before the next full moon when I hope I’ll see more and it’ll be a bit warmer too, I need to learn how to focus it properly and then might be happier, it’s a hobby you need a lot of patience for, the romantic idea you have of it and the reality are two different things, I think you need a really large scope from what I see on YouTube to see anything in great detail which will entail a lot of extra cost that I don’t think I’d be prepared to pay, anyhow I’ll soldier on with the pseeker 70az for now and hope for a more rewarding experience in the future , in fairness I’m in a great place for observing as there’s no light pollution or buildings in the way ideal for astronomy just walk out the back door as they say, so hopefully I’ll have a better idea next time out, I tried to see Jupiter also but couldn’t focus on it, as I say I’ll try to learn more as Im just a beginner and I can’t return it now anyway so I’ll have to stick with this one, it’s something that takes time to know how to use right, my expectations might have been to high

Good product for best beginner telescope and also good to look at moon at night than most star where you won’t find much different
Only draw back is the tripod you get with it is every light .. you have to wait for oscillation to still dow

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersThis is an impressive beginner telescope that is a very reasonable price.

The telescope is very light and easy to assemble, a decent amount of accessories are included – 3 eyepieces and 2 viewing attachment tubes (Erecting eyepiece and 3x Barlow tube).

I’ve only had the opportunity to use the telescope for its intended moon viewing a handful of times in the months I’ve had it due to clouds thanks, UK… But on the Times I’ve used it I’ve been blown away by the details I can see on the moon and for the odd bird viewing from my bedroom when they’re on the neighbour’s chimney.

I’ve also bought a generic phone adapter for the scope which has allowed me to get some half decent pictures which was just under 5 on eBay. It works great despite making my telescope sag under the extra weight but I adjust the legs to compensate for the rise in the telescope which isn’t too difficult and fairly stable.

The downside I have found to the cheap scope is that when there’s extra weight with my phone adapter or wind, it can wobble a fair bit, not the tripod but the part that connects the scope to the tripod isn’t as sturdy as you’d hope. This wobble is also noticeable when using the higher zoom eyepieces as even the slightest breeze with have the view subject bouncing all over the place.

With all of that being said, on the days without wind and clouds you’ll definitely be impressed with the price and the image quality you get with this refractor scope

    An Impressive Beginner Telescope

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI have had this scope or a few months now. Not a fan of the lenses or useless Barlow. Buy new lenses and it’s pretty good. The tripod is flimsy so you will get adjustment shake. Good starter scope.

You have to set the sighting scope yourself. All of the complaints about this are from idiots who didn’t read the manual.

It seems a bit flimsy because of the thin metal and plastic details in the lenses. I guess this is why it’s 4.5kg.

It arrived quick and it’s easy to assemble.

It’s a shame that when I went to try it l, it was a cloudy sky where not even the moon is visible.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI already own a good reflecting telescope, but due to its size and ease of knocking out of alignment, I only set it up for long sessions. This is light enough and no mirrors to mis align that its perfect for short sessions and because i can leave it erected, spur of the moment sessions, and its plenty powerfull for whats needed. being light it can suffer wobbly views if handled heavy, but so can my far more expensive reflector. i can also use this scope for preliminary searching , switching to the reflector if there is something to see better. I would not recomend this for under 7yrs as the tremble from a small childs grip would produce bad views enough to quickly put the child off. for me its a good companion but not replacement for my reflector.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersVery easy to put together. My 10 yr old daughter and i have worked out how to use it easily and have viewed Venus and the crescent moon! The extra detail lens doesn’t work but we may not be viewing the right thing with it yet. Light weight and looks super smart. A great starter telescope

It’s a good starter telescope at a reasonable price, only minor fault was the lens sizes.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersI got this for my daughter for christmas. I’ve had to try it out beforehand so that we are both lost when she opens it on xmas day. I got it as it was an established brand despite some of the cheaper/same price ones being better spec’ced as I wanted peace of mind. It’s well made abeit very light. You really do need to read the instructions, as the lenses so not all go on the same way. Some can’t/don’t use the L-shaped adaptor.. The images seemed ok, but I never got to try it at night. It has a finderscope which was on my shopping list so she could focus better. It screws on each time you use it and I’m unsure if I’ll have to adjust it each time; I think I may have to. It’s pretty damn tricky to adjust as you need to line it upto the near image in the telescope before you look further away, but it is possible. My main gripe is the tripod and adjustment mechanism. As it’s light, it wobbles a bit which makes adjustment up and down/left and right a pain as you have to move it a bit this way and that to get it just right. The further the item is, the harder it is to adjust.

But saying that, this isn’t a hobby for the impatient. If she likes this, then in the near future I think we will buy one with a better mount.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBought as a gift but it looks okay and magnification is satisfactory, sturdy enough for normal use, complete with extra lenses.
I would think any budding astronomer would be happy to start with this model.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIt seems that this telescope has come in for a fair bit of flak. I’d like to put the record straight. To use it to see the moon, it is great – an amazing level of detail. I can also see Jupiter as a round white disk with this PLUS its four moons! For a telescope at this price, I think that’s great. Yes, the spotting scope is useless. Yes, telescope wobbles side to side on its stand. But the free software that comes with it is awesome. That helped me to confirm that the four bodies I could see next to Jupiter were moons, not stars. I have no background in astronomy other than a knowledge of a few constellations, yet the combination of this telescope, with the software, with Google Sky Map on my phone, I think gets fabulous results at the price.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI purchased this item, not for myself, but rather as a birthday gift to a family member. All that I can say is that judging from the comments made to me, the telescope was used on the birthday date, and was very well appreciated and found it to be extremely beneficial. Almost tempting me to get one!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersPurchased this scope and got it delivered the next day!
I haven’t been able to use it properly yet because of too much cloud,
but it’s a great looking scope with a reliable tri-pod.

PLEASE NOTE – The scope actually comes in black and not silver, which looks a lot better in my opinion!

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersFor the small price I thought I would give it a little chance and to be honest I’m pretty surprised. First of all very quickly delivered then when opened box found extremely easy to set up! First night tonight and there seems to be a lot of cloud but after a few ours of patience found this thirty pounds scope pretty effective managed to get a Jupiter although clarity isn’t brilliant for thirty quid I cannot complain.

Great for beginners as myself will definitely be upgrading in the near future so I can gain some clearer views on what’s out there!

Golden Review Award: 126 From Our UsersHaving spent days browsing every site I could find to look for a budget telescope that would actually work, I had actually given up when I came across this! Apparently Celestron is one of the best makes of telescope (along with Skywatcher).

The telescope arrived quickly and was packaged securely. The recipient of the gift (24 year old man) loved it! It’s easy to set up and easy to use. Unfortunately we’ve only seen the moon so far – it’s been too cloudy to see anything else!) – but the detail of the craters was incredible – better than I was anticipating in fact.

If you’re looking for a first-time telescope and haven’t got a spare 800+, try the Celestron PowerSeeker range.
