Good item. Would recommend buying a real good tripod though. The moon filter fits into the eye rubber if you put it in the wrong way round. But still a good item
Should get better results on a clearer starry night, so work in progress.

Very happy with product and swiftness of delivery.
Disappointed no “soft carrying case” included as indicated on packaging of this product and as advertised on website.
Can you possibly address the problem of missing article.
Easy to us and gives a good sharp picture on most focal lengths
The image is crisp but degrades a little at higher magnification – that was expected. Haven’t as yet had a really clear day to test to the full. That said very pleased with the purchase.
Exellent value purchased to use as spotting scope for archery
Put the Ultima 80 on a good quality tripod and I’m fairly sure it’ll exceed your expectations.
Overall the image is quite sharp and bright and very pleasing, certainly good enough for my eyes when bird watching to pick out details and identify the species being observed. the scope is relatively light for it’s size and the carry bag is reasonably handy.
A couple of niggles, as some have pointed out the scope cant really be used with the carry bag, it really needs a velcro or other flap over the focus knob to make it accessible, then I think it will work “in the bag”. The front dust cap is a bit weedy and pops off with the slightest touch, the eyepiece cap is much firmer and pushes over the rubber eyecup and has a tendency to also remove the eyecup leaving the camera adaptor thread exposed.
Although I have a T2 camera adaptor I have not used the scope for digiscoping, I own some fairly good telephoto lenses and this scope is certainly no match for them optically but if you don’t have such exotic gear in your camera bag I can see where this scope could be of some use.
My first spotting scope. A lot of expectations, all of them satisfied with this product.
bought this scope for my wife she is over the moon with it and the delivery was grea
Bought this as a Christmas present, the person I bought it for says it is the best piece of birding equipment they have ever had, they have taken it out several times over the holidays, brilliant clear views, and could see far more than ever achieved with binoculars. Would defo recommend. Also bought the tripod that was linked up with this scope, the Hama Star 62, not brilliant for this scope, it is lovely and light to carry, but not a good fit and has wobble when the scope is fitted
I’ve just received the spotting scope and it meets my needs. I especially like its build quality. It feels reassuringly robust. I did observe colour fringing when looking at some birds perched on a tree. Overall, I’m happy with the performance and I think it’s a bargain for its price (around 155).
very good quality Spotting scope ,it does need a good heavy duty tripod to use with it. The delivery was fast and I am glad I bought it.
A very well made instrument of very good performance and price. It was delivered in 3 days very well packed and at a reasonable postage
Well recommended for those seeking a good instrument at a sensible price.
Does all I thought it would. Very clear and easy to use.
Seems to be well made and very good value. There is quite a bit of chromatic aberration at maximum magnification but I would expect that at the price. Well satisfied with my purchase.
In terms on the scope it is amazing I use it all the time and have recently bought an adapter for digiscoping which is amazing. Would recommend this scope to anyone as it is a great quality scope
Very clear images at 70m, and 50m respectively. Its intended use is for Archery, and have actually used it for training as well as tournament.
Although heavier than i thought, however, very happy for purchasing it.
Absolutely brilliant for the money, well pleased with item, would recommend to any one for bird watching, target shooting and general use, clear vision excellent zoom and easy to use.
Very good but I found it difficult to get it just right, maybe it’s just be and monoculars…
Very good and would recommend it to any birdwatcher.
Delivered very quickly with good packing. Reasonably heavy and needs a tripod or other support.
Another birdwatcher who looked through it said how good he thought it was.
The Ultima is very reasonably priced for what it is. I’ve looked through an 850 telescope, and – although very good – it didn’t seem to be 700-odd better than the Ultima! Good clarity, waterproof, and reasonably light, it has the added advantage (for me) of only needing a screw-ring adaptor to attach my Nikon D60!
It does – like most long ‘scopes – need a solid tripod, like a Slik 700D or similar, and even with this, some sort of frontal support is desirable, although this doesn’t just apply to the Ultima, but all large ‘scopes.
All in all, as an entry-level telescope, you’d be hard-pushed to do much better – especially at the price.
Good clear views of birds on very bright days and good on dull days- best at 20x than at 60x
Alas the replacement had the same fault but not quite as bad. I arranged a return but was contacted by Amazon who said as it looked like the batch was faulty they would refund my money. In the meantime I found someone who had one and they told me it was quite common on this product at the cheaper end of the market so I cancelled the return and refund, keeping the second one. It’s got a 10 year guarantee which set my mind at rest. I contacted 3 other suppliers who checked their stock and also found the eyepieces not quite smooth
Now to the scope, a few people have commented that the quality deteriorates towards the 60x end of the zoom. Yes it does but very slightly. I found the optics to be excellent even with this tail-off. I think the eyepiece could have done with some sort of locator to stop it turning when zooming – you have to have the eyepiece on tight to stop this. The case is very good and I bought a quick release adapter for my Manfrotto tripod.
Very happy with the performance and had it not been for the lumpy zoom and lack of eyepiece locator I’d have given it 5 stars however I’d give Amazon 5 stars for customer service.
Used for bird watching from hides at a local reservoir. At dusk or in poor light you can tell a difference between this and other more expensive scopes but for 90% of the time this is just excellent. Certainly worth buying if you are on a budget and are anything less than a serious, serious birder who is prepared to spend a much larger amount of cash. I won’t be upgrading for a long time yet.
The kids like looking at the moon through it too!
Very pleased with the celestron ultima 80/45 it does & performs as I expected,
many sincere thanks
“can I wish a very merry xmas to you all”

Good value for money but has narrow field of vision. Does everything i need of it; pleased I bought it.
This is just the ticket for bird watching by the sea, used it several times now and very happy with it, not so sure about star gazing with it but then that is not its intended use all in all very happy delivery was also very prompt.
So far the scope is just what I was looking for. It looks well built and the optics are very good. Will give further report back when I’ve used it a bit more
For terrestrial observing though, it’s fine up to about 45x, a bit dodgy beyond that.
Sharper focus at lower mag as you’d expect I guess. As some sort of vague benchmark- from my garden I can just about see the 4′ high trig point on a hill about 16 miles away- heat haze permitting- at about 35x mag. Some blue fringeing going on.
Actually, it’s a shame the mag doesn’t go down a bit further for my use- 18x is a bit high for a wide-angle and brighter look around. It’s fairly portable in a rucksack- quite a bit smaller/shorter than the 80mm model for eg. Needs some sort of tripod to get the best from it though, of course….see my Hama 62 review. I’d love to try out the Baader zoom
eyepiece other folks have swapped the supplied eyepiece for- how much sharper are we talking for another 200 ? :-}
Never had a Spotting Scope before and did not want to go over the top with cost, it does many of the things that much more expensive scopes do for a lot less money. Would like to be able to zoom in a little more so maybe some time could upgrade on new eye piece.
Its a excellent instrument. I love it.
.
I have been looking for a spotting scope for some time. This one is very good and at the right price, it is sound in construction and easy to carry in its case. I am very pleased with it.
The quality of the scope is excellent and it’s weight was surprisingly light (it is a fair sized unit)and have found it to be a very impressive bit of kit for the price. So much so that I have ordered one for myself too.
I do recommend a good stable tripod though, preferably without a “portrait” tilt up type head.
I’d have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone wanting a good quality scope.
The only draw back I can find with having a scope is the additional weight and that is true for all scopes not just this one. Perfect for those who want to enhance their wildlife watching experience but do not want to invest in the expensive brands which cost 300 – 1500.
With the saved money you could invest in a carbon fibre tripod to help combat the weight issue.
I chose to buy the Velbon Sherpa 500R from Amazon as well for around 70 and its a sturdy but versatile scope which suits the need of not just wildlife scoping user but also photography. Although the tripod is a bit on the heavy side I can still recommend it. I also urge you to buy a tripod which includes the quick release feature, it saves you much time and effort.
Choose this scope and you will not be disappointed, unless you have loads of money to invest in the top of the range scopes which have an improved image quality for 10X the price. This improvement is not necessary for the everyday birder to enjoy or spot and identify wildlife. Thanks to this scope and others like it birding can be done very economically.
I also recommend Bushnell as excellent and cheap binocular makers. The H2O range 8×42 is what I use and its a good binocular for the price, only 68 on Amazon! Again slightly heavy for some peoples taste but I wear them all the time and find them ideal and not too heavy at all.
I mainly bought this for my daughter for astronomy, she already has a Newtonian but finds that really tedious to set up for quick viewing, no problems with this Celestron though. Although the experts will tell you that spotting scopes do not work well for astronomy work, the Ultima 80 is great. It may not suit the experts but for the casual hobbyist it gives really great images of the moon and planets (Saturn is a little small but the rings are clear). It’s only drawback is the comparatively small field of view for astronomy, e.g. the best you can get in is two of the stars from Orions belt. Even the experts agree that the best scope for astronomy is the one you use most often, in our case this is the Ultima! It is light, easy to focus, gives, clear images (atmospherics allowing of course) and I (and my daughter) couldn’t be happier. You do need a tripod, but that’s the same for all spotting scopes. Amazon’s price is better than most and delivery was very quick. If you are confused over spotting scopes and can’t afford a lot of money then I can wholeheartedly reommend this one, I do not think you will be disappointed.
