This is a great jacket according to my brother. The fit is great and it kept him snugg and warm. The only gripe he had was that there weren’t any inside pockets.

I think I may steal this jacket when he isn’t looking.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersGreat jacket overall, haven’t tested it in torrential rain yet, but protects you very well from a drizzle. Sizing runs slightly big – I’m normally between M and L, so got an M and it is big enough for me to have a thick hoodie underneath without restricting my movements while not being baggy, so a really nice fit. It’s not overly warm – not recommended as a winter jacket if you like being very warm or spend a lot of time outdoors. Will be absolutely fine if you use it to get to your car and then from your car to the office. Perfect as an outer layer to put on after doing some exercise outdoors (e.g.football) as it traps the heat quite well. All in all, I’m super happy with the purchase and wear it very often, got it for 50 and at this price it’s a steal.

I love this coat it is warm and light, pity it was spoiled with poor workmanship after only a few uses the coat hook came off one end.so i had to buy another stronger coat hook problem is that because the coat is light very little room to sew into

    lovely warm coat poor workmanship

This jacket is thin and lightwejght but still warm. I wear it on bike. It blocks strong cold northwinds well and light rain. It’s good winter jacket on and off the bike . It makes me warm and dry in various situation.

Columbia is a well known brand and the products are designed for the practically minded and not the cat walk minded. Utility over fashion if you like. This then is practical in that it has a hood and is ‘water repellent’ which means it will keep the rain out but not forever.

It is very warm despite being very lightweight indeed and so is for outdoor use like hiking etc where you do not need the security of a heavy coat but you do need the protection of one. I found it to be a bit on the too warm side — in that if you are undertaking a physical activity above the ordinary — then you really start to heat up very quickly. Because it is so well insulated it can be hard to control that heat. The zip is more or less full length too which is good. It has two pockets — which is what I would have expected and two internal pockets — not a breast one though which I would have liked for phones etc.

All the above I like but it really does lack any style appeal what so ever and even the cuffs are reduced in size to offer no stylish lan that could have raised this from the overtly practical. I will wear it but only when the conditions arise. I can recommend but with the above caveats.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is a smart coat from Colombia in a nice blue colour and finished off with a dark red/wine coloured interior and detailing on the zips and cuffs. As it’s padded with down, it’s very warm, with the added benefit of being lightweight. One thing that did surprise me was how soft the coat was.

On the outside there are 2 zipped pockets, inside there are 2 large “open” pockets on either side. One of the things missing on this coat from my perspective is an inside zipped secure pocket for holding my credit cards and/or Phone.

Size wise, the coat came in a medium, which is normally the right size for me, but the coat is slightly too small for me. This is unfortunate, as it is a stylish, quality coat that really has lots of uses. For me, it’s one of those anytime coats that I can just grab when I’m going out the door.

From the moment you put it on, you can tell it is a well put together jacket and that is reflected in the high price tag. Stylish, warm and lightweight. I just need to shed a few pounds so I can fit into it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is a strong performer as an insulation layer under a hard shell during extreme conditions, or on its own in less-demanding weather.

The baffles are narrow at around 5cm, so minimise the potential for the down to settle and create gaps in the insulation over time. They’re also bonded within the material rather than stitched, again reducing (or even eliminating) any loss of performance. Cuffs, waist and neck/hood are elasticated, creating a good air enclosure. Insulation is good, and it’s comfortably kept me warm on cool Autumn morning commutes. The fixed hood works well, particularly when aiming for warmth, but I noticed Columbia do a version of this jacket without a hood which would arguably work better if you were intending on this primarily being a layer piece.

For all its heat-trapping attributes it doesn’t have the ‘wearable duvet’ feel that many down jackets have, and only performs as an insulator once you’re active and generating your own warmth. It is 650 fill power, but quite lightly stuffed. Compared to my chunky Penfield Rockford it’s positively thin, but that’s clearly a considered decision that ultimately makes for a more usable and versatile jacket. The lightness and lack of bulk makes this jacket very packable, and it rolls down to almost nothing. Any gram-counting hikers would be wise to look at this. The thin profile also makes it more appropriate to wear in different scenarios as it doesn’t look overly technical. I’ve worn it with both a work suit and jeans, and it’s looked fine.

Water resistance is surprisingly good. I’ve been caught in a couple of light showers in the time I’ve been testing this and the DWR has performed well, with rain literally rolling off. I wouldn’t expect it to remain impermeable under more sustained rain, but for short bursts it’s been more than capable and better than I expected.

In terms of fit I’d say it runs slightly large, and has an active cut. I’m generally between medium and large for jackets depending on brand – I have this a medium and was unsure as to whether it could take significant layering underneath (ie; a jumper), but it’s more than big enough.

Overall this is a very well-designed transitional piece for Autumn/Winter on its own, and is more than capable of providing performance as a layer under a hard shell right through the worst of winter.

Nice jacket but had to send it back due to the size, I’m usually an xl/xxl but this was way to big.
Would be ok if you are adding extra layers.
Bought a Columbia fleece at the same time and also sent that back
