Use to upgrade a Hp laptop from 8gb ram. 4gb was built in on board so the 16gb has taken it to 20GB .

Easy to install and works fine. Used to upgrade a pretty basic laptop, which now works much better than it did. Probably not what you’d want for your gaming rig, but fine for what we did with i

The 8GB memory I purchased has been installed in my NAS server.. I had no difficulties installing the module.

The NAS has accepted the memory module without issue and has been running and performing many intensive tasks to prove it is robust and safe to use in this critically demanding task.

    The module deserves 5 stars

I checked the crucial website for my laptop spec. Once i knew the ram type supported it was a simple process to install, plenty of material online to guide you through installing if nervous about it. Very happy with results.

Recent brought a HP laptop that needed more ram (well, need may be a strong word) didn’t need the fastest ram as it’s limited by the motherboard but this has done the trick no problem.

I used this to bump my laptop from 8gb to 32gb. It was just a great experience overall and the Dell laptop was able to detect it first time and it’s really helped speed things up quite a bit. Especially when loading large applications that are memory intensive. Crucial has always been a brand you can trust and I’m very happy with it so far!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have a Synology DS720+ NAS, and I wanted to upgrade its memory. I have tried several memory modules before, but they did not work.

Finally, I bought this memory module:
    “Crucial CT8G4SFRA266 8GB DDR4 2666MHz CL19”.

I have installed the RAM module and made a memory test using the “Synology Assistant” desktop tool, and everything is fine with no errors. So, I confirm it is working, please see the photos.

PS: 8 GB additional RAM + 2 GB built-in memory = 10 GB, which is fine. Don’t go after the 16 GB module unless you really require such an amount of memory.

Had 8gb ram before and it wasn’t enough for me at all. Couldn’t even open Chrome along with anything else. Now I can finally run multiple processes and as a bonus got a little bit more fps in games

The memory itself was very easy to install and had no issues or errors since installing which was around 8 weeks ago
Default memory was 4gb and after adding this 8gb shows a total of 12gb

I brought this RAM one stick 16GB at 2666MHZ on the 1 of January 2021. I used it in conjuction with a single 8GB RAM already installed on my Gaming laptop. Nearly two years later and still going strong. I still get 60+FPS on games even though I use two different types of RAM sizes. Gaming performance never suffered. Its a plug and play type of kit, just install it into the memory banks and you’re good to go. It came in anti static packaging so no need to worry about that like other sellers. Just ensure that you get that right type for your PC DDR4 and speed 2666MHZ. If your current ram is slower like 2400MHZ then your PC will automatically downclock the RAM to 2400MHZ or to whatever the slowest speed of your RAM is. So it is vital that your get the right type and right speed for your PC for value for money. Hope this helps.

Apparently easy to install (but I played safe and got a local shop to it for me), there are videos on Youtube explaining how to do so. Doubled my available memory from 8gb to 16gb, I’ve not noticed any speed difference but thats down to not having it long before I upgraded plus the nearest I get to a 3D game is playing GZDoom, hardly a benchmark I know.

I paid a local shop to install this as I also needed them to install and migrate a 1tb SSD drive (Was 128gb) which I subsequently split into 2 partition for Windows 10 & 11. Openshot and DaVinci Resolve have been a lot more stable than when I tried using them on a 4gb Lenovo T410.

The machine I’m using only takes one SODIM memory board but for now 16 gigs seems to be plenty for everyday use and the occasional bigger project. I hope to get a few years worth of use out of it anyway.

Bought this for my Dell Laptop (to go from 8 to 16Gb).
The process is to go to the Crucial website – enter computer details and get a list of compatible RAM that you know will work and not let you down
I did this this time but Amazon had the Ram cheaper (and with free delivery) than Crucial so bought from Amazon
Opened laptop, added Ram, replaced cover and used. No issues

Fit nicely into my HP Envy x360 15. Too a few seconds but booted up just fine. However I have to say I was unimpressed with thr flimsy packaging. For something that’s supposed to have a 5 year warranty, I expected, atleast some type of warranty card to come with this, along with some proof of purchase or something.

I have an HP Pavilion with 4GB RAM, I installed the CT16G4SFD824A and the miracle happened! No delay for anything, it runs as never before, I can multitasking with two different sound producing programs, internet with more than 8 tabs, Excel and if I want I can open the same time 2-3 folders in File explorer! To do something like that before, I needed 5 minutes just to open all this and then the laptop would crashed… Too much time lost, I should do the upgrade years before.

I bought this for my partner as she has the ThinkPad E580 laptop with only 8GB of RAM. A video on YouTube gave clear instructions of how to remove the backing of the laptop. The RAM can then be easily inserted into the second slot giving a total RAM of 24GB. This has made a huge impact on the performance of the laptop, making start ups, running programs, and general use a LOT smoother. It was glitching and lagging a lot before hand as the CPU and RAM was constantly at 100% performance. According to my partner, the CPU rarely goes over 20% performance. Anyone out there with a laptop that is compatible with this RAM, I would highly recommend it to you. It is worth every penny!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought an 8GB RAM (part number: CT8G4SFRA266 2666MHz CL19 ) to extend the RAM of my Synology DS220+ NAS. Although Synology says the system supports up to 6 GB of RAM (2GB is included in the original box), the system actually supports more than that. You can add at least another 16GB of RAM to use as a cache to boost up the performance.
I have read the previous comments — some claimed that CT8G4SFRA266 does not fit with Synology. This is not true. Mine works very well on DS220+.

There are two possibilities why some people found it was not working:

    1. They didn’t correctly insert the RAM. You will need to first push the RAM very hard until hearing a clicking before lowering the RAM to sit on the RAM slot. There are many posts online where people claim the RAM doesn’t work just because they didn’t currently insert the RAM.

    2. There are different variants of the Crucial memory “FRA266”. Upon receiving the RAM, you will find that the RAM has another four digitals part number printed on the tag. Mine is shown in the photo, which is C8FR. This means the RAM is built using 8x 1GB memory cells, where both sides of the RAM have memory cells. This will work on Synology. This part number can also be C8FJ, which will also work too. However, if this part number is C4FE, it means the RAM is built using 4x 2GB memory cells, where the memory cells are sodered on just one side of the RAM. In this case, it won’t be compatible with Synology. Unfortunately, you will not get to see this part number until you receive the RAM. I suspect this applies to the 16GB RAM, too, as there are some people online saying it works for Synology while others saying it doesn’t.

Overall, I am pleased with this purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars It can work with Synology

I upgraded from 8GB to 32GB (2x16GB). This wasn’t the official recommended upgrade kit for the iMac Retina 5K 27-inch – 2020. However the spec was exactly the same and the price was much cheaper. Therefore, I decided to give it a go and I am really pleased I did. I watched a video on YouTube and it took less than 5 minutes to fit. The iMac has a little container on the back with a door that you release using a button under the power lead. Press the button, pop the old memory modules out, pop the new ones in – job done. I’m so please I upgraded.

Over something getting on for 30 years of building (and occasionally breaking!) computers, a few companies have really stood the test of time when it comes to supplying top quality gear.

Crucial is one of those companies and should be in anyone’s (very) short list of memory suppliers.

This was purchased to to expand the memory of an older Dell Vostro laptop from 8gb to 16gb.
This simple upgrade has made the user of the laptop much happier and given it a new lease of life.
They were convinced they needed a new laptop until I persuaded them to give this a go!

Unless you are a gamer pushing the limits of your machine, a memory upgrade should be the first option if you think it is time to replace the computer.

Crucial have a nifty system checker program on their website that will tell you what you need and what the system can support.
Strangely you can then usually buy the same memory cheaper on Amazon!

Oh and there is no great skill required to upgrade the memory in a pc/laptop.
A screwdriver and a modicum of common sense will usually suffice, but in addition there are loads of videos to guide you through it.

I was a little dubious after some of the reviews. I have a 2019 iMac 27inch Retina Display.. However, I have to say they have worked perfectly!!!

I’ve never dabbled or changed a computer I’ve owned before so I was bricking it! But it couldn’t have been easier!!

I did have to do a bit of experimenting as they don’t work with the default Memory Cards, once I took those out my Mac was super quick.

Statistics say it is running the full capacity and I couldn’t be happier after feeling disheartened by Apple prices (noob at 3D Rendering, you can imagine the previous frustration)

Any, thank yooooooou!!!! One happy lady right here!!!!

Got the Intel 2018 Mac mini as I still need the x86 architecture for work but ultimately saved a ton of cash by opting for the 8gb i5 and performing the memory upgrade myself. While the process was straight forward enough, getting the Mac to recognise the ram was a pain! All came down to the ram not being seated correctly. I was probably a little too gentle when placing the stick in the slots. Total pain to strip the machine down again, and again while performing the upgrade but got there in the end.

As for performance, the machine is just so much more snappy now. No swap or compressed memory used and everything is just so much more responsive. It’s hard to quantify and I’m sure that benchmarks wouldn’t show much difference….but it really is just quicker.

Well worth the money and (stressful!) effort.

I ran various virtual machines on my laptop, and constantly using all of it up, therefore decided to invest in some extra RAM in my laptop. Managed to secure this 16GB RAM stick for less than 50 which was a great deal and that doubled the amount of RAM on my laptop and available for use.

Worked well and was very easy to install in my laptop, and I am now able to spin up more virtual machines on my laptop.

If you can be bothered to complete the minor operation to install them, these work very well and are completely compatible with the Mac Mini 2018.

Far, far cheaper than upgrading via Apple.

If you are moderately DIY savvy, want to upgrade your Mac mini and have the right tools, jump onto YouTube, follow the many online tutorials, and save yourself a bundle of cash.

Also works with iMac 2020 which, being out of the box upgradable, allows for much easier installation than the Mac mini 2018

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWhen I ordered my m15 Dell’s upgrade from 16GB to 32GB was an extortionate amount. So, like my previous laptops and computers I thought I’d leave it a while for Memory prices in general to naturally decrease.

I had reason to open my m15 to replace the Seagate 1TB Hybrid HDD (or SHDD), which stopped being recognised by my m15 (long story). So, took this opportunity to replace the Memory too.

The 32BG kit SODIMM modules fit my m15 without fuss, and they are registering on Windows task manager as 32GB 2667MhZ. All good so far.

    Shipping packaging:
My order was sold direct from Amazon (not a market place seller). The packaging was diabolical. It arrived in a standard amazon cardboard sleeve A5 size, inside the sleeve was the thin plastic Crucial memory container. The cardboard sleeve showed signs of stress, i.e. other heavier items maybe stacked on top. Shameful Amazon! Given that other robust orders come wrapped in excessive bubble wrap! An this impact sensitive item came unprotected! You need to review your packaging allocation process.

I bought this 32GB kit to install in a Mac Mini 2018. Considering the outrageous price that Apple charges for RAM upgrades, I ordered the base RAM configuration at 8GB and thought I’d have a go at upgrading it myself.

It took me a little while to get around to, but the RAM seems to work well and the user experience is much better with 32GB compared to the stock 8GB. With 8GB installed, it did hang from time to time but now it’s very smooth. I run some windows programs via parallels and have now dedicated 8GB to the virtual machine. With several windows 10 and Mac applications running, I’m left with about 10GB free so I would recommend anyone wanting to run applications through a VM, get 32GB as 16GB may not give as smooth an experience.

The RAM replacement was a little bit tricky, just because the screws are so small. Definitely use a magnetic screw driver. Other than that, it’s not particularly difficult, just a bit fiddly. Just watch a couple of youtube videos a few times and there’s not actually too much to it. The best video I found was from OWC youtube channel. The video was the clearest showing the dainty screws and plugs more clearly.

I’ve given this 5 for ease of installation (actually, taking the Mac apart was not hard but took 20 minutes, and you need a good light, YouTube on an ipad, the proper tools, an anti-static wristband, and a steady hand). I’m marking the fact that the memory boards themselves are drop in … once I’d got to the stage of having 1300 of new computer in bits all over the kitchen table.
VFM? Sure. 5 again. This would have cost 600 if Apple had done this. Yup. That’s why I was prepared to dissemble my new i7 Mini. Saved me about 450.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersReally easy to install memory, just check via the “About this Mac” page for instructions and confirmation of what memory type your computer takes.

They come in a stiff blister pack, so they are well protected in transit

I was pleased to note that I did not need any special tools to install in my 27″ iMac 2017

I did read a note on another post that is matters as to what slots you put different pairs of memory, so if you are having difficulty in re-starting your computer, just check which slots they are in, I think I put these into slots 2 and 4, with the original 2 x 4Gb chips in slots 1 and 3 – but check with the manufacturer if you have issues because this memory definitely works. There are other reviews which say which slots they have put them in, depending on the model year of the computer.

Golden Review Award: 30 From Our UsersI’ve had issues in the past with RAM but my Mac Mini 2018, accepted these with no hesitation. So far so good. It even improves my Geekbench score above the average for my build.

Whilst RAM is not cheap, I have given 5-Stars for value for money, because compared to the 500 or so Apple wanted to charge for 32GB config, this is a bargain! I even found taking apart my new overpriced Mac mini to install these, easier than I expected. If you are going to attempt to install yourself (and not use an authorised Apple centre), make sure you have the correct tools, the right tutorials and even watch beforehand to be comfortable you can do it.
