Good price, fast. Used with xbox series x works great. be aware you will need a USB-C to USB-A adaptor cable rated to USB3 to do this as cable supplied is suitable for USB-C only.
It’s not often that I write a review. But when I find a product that exceeds my expectations, I’ve got to shout out!
The Crucial X6 is very tiny and lightweight. And they weren’t lying about the transfer rates, Transfer to and from the SSD are really, really fast. The fastest I’ve seen on a portable SSD. And the price was very appealing!
Lightweight, robust, portable, reliable and large without paying too much, I can’t really say more about it, a hard drive is a fairly boring product, so this one does the job and it does it well while remaining extremely practical
I have to admit: when I got the package, I was expecting something heftier.
But it has to be said, this is lightweight, extremely portable: and formatted in exactly the right way for my needs.
Yes, this is pricey for someone in my shoes.
But it’s VERY worth while.
Looks really good and you can fit it almost anywhere, my only problem is that sometimes the transfer speeds can decrease randomly, whether its because the thing gets too hot, or because im using a different cable (which says it can handle the ssd), idk
Purchased this SSD for my new Xbox Series S and it did not work initially.
In case you plug it and the instructions provided via QR-scanned video don’t pop up, consider to format it and change it from GPT to MBR (worked this way for me).
Instructions can be found online.
Once I finished with this settings change, worked alright so far.
I bought one of these 2 TB hard drives at first and then bought another. They are fast, small and easy to store, compared to my old 2 TB sata hard drives. The hard drive measures approximately 11 x 5.5 x 1 cm, It comes with a USB C to USB C data cable, That measures 25 cm when measured end to end. There is also an adapter so if your device doesn’t have the capability of using USB C, Then you can just use the adapter. My external sata Hardrive packed up containing all of my music collection that I had converted and collected over 30 years, but I had this backed up on 2 other hard drives so nothing lost. The crucial Hardrive was an Amazon recommendation and was on offer at time of purchase, which was about 90, as I was happy with it’s build quality and performance I decided to buy another to use it as a better Quality hard drive back up of my music. I’ve been using the hard drive for about six months now and it meets my needs perfectly.
This is a nice low powered external drive.
I am using this for temporary storage for a Android 6 media box. Write speed is 40 mbs and I am able to stream video to my tv with no buffering.
The idea was to see if I could clear my DVD shelf and have them on disk.
Worked better than expected, so I have put on hold the purchase of nivada shield box and my get a few more drives and stuck with my old android 6 media box.
Most smart TVs have USB so you can use to to store your favorite films and save your self from subscribing to 3 different streaming services .
This has a USB C type connector, so I paid extra for the adapter for my old android box.
Had an issue with my Chromebook seeing and writing to the 1tb partition, but I used my hammer to fix this (Linux laptop) , formatting the drive took 7 hours. Worked with no issues
The Drive itself being a Solid State Drive (SSD) with no moving parts, as opposed to a mechanical Hard Disc Drive (HDD), is comparatively compact, lightweight and, if required, portable. This is the main reason I was attracted by this product, having previously used and filled several plug in HDD units I purchased the 4 TB SSD. Having no USC connection in my PC I also purchased a USB 3.1 SuperSpeed – USC cable as this was cheaper than purchasing the separately advised adapter. I was pleasant surprised and impressed to find that data transfer times are still comparatively fast, typically cutting transfer times by approximately a half. Just right when copying over a large amount of data or a disc image, to go and leave the drive to do its work and go and make and drink cup of tea or coffee.
One small point which others may wish to note was the short length of the enclosed connection cord, which also has a USC connector at both ends. Although US C is a relatively recent innovation which is growing fast, on my PC which is just over two and a half years old, this technology is not included, rather than buy the USB to USC adapter I bought a longer cable with the correct connector on each end.
After several reviews for the money this one came up trumps.
I used it to back up content form and computer incase it went capput so I didn’t lose precious baby photos etc.
Read / write speeds are great and not slow by any means. The size is great as you can see in the pic I added to give you a sense of scale.
Happy with my purchase and if you’re looking between this and the sandisk, save ya money and get this.
Significantly faster than even a USB3 external HDD, now quite affordable for sizes 1TB and under. This one was the same price as 1TB WD Passport but smaller and lighter. Not sure about longevity / reliabilty – time will tell.
Very good product. Very fast at backing up my laptop. Only gripe was that I had to order a pack of usb C connectors as my laptop is a bit old and only had older usb port. A pity Amazon did not flag this up at the purchasing stage. I noticed that if you buy from the crucial website directly they give you the usb c adapter free.
I store most of my stuff in the Cloud so I bought this to create a clone or bootable backup. As reliable as Macs are, I adapt a belt and braces approach to life generally and this would be no exception. For that task 500GB was plenty of storage.
Like many other reviewers I found the lead to be almost ridiculously short but it was just, and I do mean just, long enough for my purposes. I was very pleased to find that the time taken to copy the files across was also short.
Performed a similar task with a USB flash drive a while back. I expect some of you are laughing now and rightly so. What was I thinking? Took about an hour for every minute the task took with this little beauty. Money well spent!
I got this for my Playstation 5. It was a requirement for a minimum of about 500Mb/s and this does 800. Slower than the 1000 plus you can get in some SSDs, but more than enough for my use case: Saving PS4 games in an external drive that is fast enough to run the games directly from it without having to copy them back into the main PS5 SSD. Unless you get a stop watch out, you will barely notice any difference between internal of external storage for PS4 games on a PS5. For PS5 games, these can be stored on this drive, but not played directly from it (This is Sony limitation, nothing to do with this drive) but transfer speeds are very fast, so it’s also useful for offloading excess games onto external storage without having to worry about the (much longer) time required to re-install from disk or download etc.
I generally prefer to comment, months or years after usage but Amazon does not allow me review if I do not do it when i get the review mail, here it goes:
The ssd does not meet up to the read/write speed claimed by Crucial. That said, it does not mean it is slow, far from it, the read write speed are just not constant.
Sometimes it breezes through huge files, other times its other personality comes out and it behaves like a hdd (speed wise).
Still faster than a HDD.
My dad had an old USB hard drive which this replaced. It’s exactly what he needed with great speed and capacity in a small form factor. Only slight criticism is the very short cable which could do with being a little longer.
Couldn’t believe how small and light this SSD is and transfer speed is excellent- so much faster than a USB stick. It’s a bit plasticky so I hope it proves to be reliable and long lasting.
I’ve always bought Crucial memory chips so when I saw this tiny thing, I bought it straight away. I am delighted that I did. Plugged it into my MacBook Pro and now I have huge storage. It really is tiny and exceedingly well made. You could, if you so wished, put 15 of them in your pocket! Absolutely brilliant!
After a couple of standard hard drive failures, where nothing could be recovered, have decided to go with a SSD with no moving parts. I hope it works out and at the moment seems like a good idea, and I now don’t worry about a failure – never had a problem with an internal SSD. Living in hope.
Bought to dj with using rekordbox needed to format to master boot record on Mac to get it to work but was then fine and is blazing fast at exporting using rekordbox software
I’ve been using the SSD for a couple of mo this and it has been working just fine, I don’t have the best devices but it’s fast enough for me. The only thing is that I can only save and edit files while using Windows, the Mac reads it but I can’t save or edit anything in it.
It arrived in person much smaller than I anticipated, and since it’s an SSD, there are no risks to dropping it (not that I’d recommend it). I’ve been using it to carry my large, important project files on the go so I can program everywhere I go and save my progress. This SSD is a wonder. I hope the technology gets even cheaper with time!
Very compact and lightweight. Super fast transfer, even with large files, videos, photos etc.
Its small size means it fits easily into my small camera bag when I need to take it with me, great transfer speeds and very good value for money. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.
Replacement to faulty portable drive.
Very easy to set up.
Speeds good so far.
Used to store back up files, photos etc.
Great storage for those of us forced into the new Apple USB connectio
The positives: Comes with a USB-C cable. (Website is a bit confusing. The drive has a USB-C connector and USB-C to USB-C cable). It is tiny and lightweight, much smaller than a hard drive. Capacity is excellent. Speed is good.
The negative: It seems the drive has 64 GB fast storage and the rest is slower. So restoring a 400GB backup went fast for a long time then went down to about 80MB/sec. In normal operation this will very rarely be noticeable. Stop copying and it goes back to the old fast speed for a while.
And the absolute positive: The price. This drive with 2TB is about the same as others with 1TB. So overall 5 stars for having twice the capacity as other drives for the same price, and slowing down after a while for a huge copy operation.
