We wanted a large electric fire to replace an old wood burner in the kitchen diner. It lives in a big inglenook so most fires would look undersized. This unit was more than we had budgeted to spend but still a lot less than any of the fires available in the high street fireplace shops. The flame effect is not the best but in our opinion better than most and made it worth the extra cost over the budget models available from the cut-price shops.
It would benefit from better primary packaging. Even though the supplier had added extra protection, ours still arrived damaged. The top cover was cracked and the carcass twisted so only 3 legs met the floor and the doors didn’t line up. It’s a heavy unit and I can imagine a delivery driver dropping it (a few times).
The supplier quickly exchanged it and the replacement model was perfect. It comes fitted with a log effect base but a coal bed is also included and it looks much better. They even include a plastic glove to install the (real) coal onto the bed.
The remote is simple 3x step; light on, low power on, full power on. A 2nd button switches it off.
It is sold in some high street stores and it’s worth going down to look at it working in real life. That’s what sold it to us over a similar sized fire for half the price. You could buy it there and take it home yourself to avoid the risk of damage in transit but we saved 20% buying it through Amazon.
