Great little camera, first camera I’ve ever brought for my bike/helmet and def3dont regret it! Picture quality is brilliant, love the app on my phone, was able to see the angle of the camera before I stuck it to me helmet, which stayed on in the gale force winds! Definitely worth my money
Camera checks out ok, records good day and night, only issue is what ever app I use none of them actually connect or work.
I’ve used the earlier Drift Stealth model for years. The Ghost model is slightly chunkier but has loads of extra features. Great produc
I use it on the motorbike as a helmet cam in case of the unthinkable. The curved and flat stickie thingymajigies are amazing and I don’t have any doubts about it giving up the ghost and end up loosing the camera even when doing the “national speed limit” the interface can be a little confusing but I’m going to put that down to me not been as tech savy as I once was the quality is good and the app its self is simples.
Overall very happy with it.
A present, which was well received. Super fast delivery and I’m told great quality. Just make sure you use the correct SD card.
So far so good! Added an external mic and fitted it inside the helmet which cuts out wind noise from the built in mic.
I am really pleased with the camera which is now firmly fixed to my cycle helmet! On my first ride I noticed that overtaking vehicles do so with greater care and leave more space. The camera is quite prominent and so easily observed by motorists. For this factor alone, the camera was a good buy.
On the technical side, I have to say that the instruction booklet could be written much more clearly. It is probably fine for a user under 40 but for an oldie like, some more explanation would be of value although after much scrolling through the settings I have figured out most of what I wanted to know.
The added bonus to me is that I can use the camera as a dash cam in my car as well as for general video recording.
Very easy to setup and use. Picture quality is great, downloading photos to your phone is simple and fast with wyfi. Sound quality from the built-in microphone is very poor due to wind noise but can be overcome with an external microphone.
This is easy to use, amazing picture quality and superb sound. I have it fitted to my motorbike helmet and the picture stays steady even over rough roads. Easy to download recordings to pc/laptop and the battery life is brilliant. You can’t get better value in my opinion.
Reading the reviews on here this camera is terrible. However it has a long battery life and looks well made, so I bought it, knowing amazon are good with returns. 1 month in, i’ve already submitted 6 videos to operation snap. Its never crashed (i am using the correct memory card type of course – maybe others arent?). I will return and edit this if it becomes problematic!
I bought the Ghost Drift XL as I wanted a camera for my bike that had a good battery life. Once set up it has worked well and I am happy with it. The one thing that took ages to work out was the live-streaming, although I can’t think of when I might actually use it. I studied the online instructions and did everything word for word but could not scan the QR code. It was only by looking at a manual for the Ghost 4k that it became clear it was necessary to not be on wifi that it worked.
The screen is very small and it can be difficult to see everything, especially the settings function which has a blue backlight, but I’m happy with it so far.
Works great. Superb battery life (I gave up on the GoPro due to its poor battery life).
Some image stabilization would be nice.
Upgrade from the Ghost X which I mislaid…better battery life, and as well as motorcycle use, I’ve bought the Drift clamp to use as a dashcam in the car, and it’s excellent value for money.
Quality and ease of use is excellent on camera, would have been 5 stars but sound is really bad as picks up wind noise really bad
This is a nice compact camera and takes great video footage. Took a while to find best location on helmet as I have a flip top but managed to locate a good spot and use the flat adapter. Useful to be able to twist Len’s around to find vertical and can also change focus setting.
I purchased the additional mic and this didn’t work for some reason which was annoying. Also has a very long cable which is difficult to lose in a helmet! Had to send back and replace and new one and now working. Also purchased the remote. To be honest I am still in two minds with this as not easy to see on the remote if you have switched on or not and a couple of times I managed to change settings by mistake. Perhaps I will get used to it. Also comes with wrist strap but perhaps a handlebar adapter would be better.
Overall so far, 3 weeks, camera has performed well and I am pleased with it.
I had doubts but it really is that good. Easy to use, compact and incredible battery life. I brought this to capture images of green lanes in Wales where I was travelling on my quad bike. It gave fantastic images and is so easy to use stuck on a crash helmet. I could hear the beep when it started filming and could glance in my mirror to confirm the red or green lights were on. Came back from the trip and my mate went straight out and brought one as wll.
I use on Moto bike as dash cam riding for hours
Unreal battery life. Used for two days straight in the lakes. Without charge. Only down side is the built in mic faces forward and is a wind trap. As you can see fro. The video. However. An external mice placed inside the helmet may help the wind noise
I’ve been using this on my helmet camera for a week or so now. So far so good. Its got excellent battery life so I can go out for a long old ride without having to worry about my camera cutting out. Picture quality seems pretty good and its easy to view on the laptop, just plug in the camera with the supplied usb lead.
The amount of times people have pulled out on me is ridiculous. With camera I can show my insurance company that a accident is of no fault of mine.
Works brilliant day or night and as can be seen from the footage it’s crystal clear.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
This is a good little camera, robust (it has fallen off the bike and bounced down the road a few times and still works) and very good camera quality. My only gripe is that the arm attachment to the bike handlebars (which has to be bought separately) snapped which is how the camera bounced down the road. The company replaced that part without charge, and the arm is essential to attach this to a pedal bike.
Well I should start with the fact that this camera can take a beating, first day I used it I hot into a motorcycle crash and it is still working fine just some dents and scratches. Interface is easy and the app works well. Basically it’s pretty great for the cost.
I have now got 2 of the ghost XL 1 on my crash helmet the other on my back box, my first 1 I’ve had nearly a year and had no problems. You do need a class 10 SC card anything less and it won’t record fast enough and it will crash
Easy to use, instructions in booklet straight forward. Good quality well made cameras. Would recommend these to other riders. (This is my husbands review he is the motorbike rider not me)
Overall this is a good camera, that works okay once set up. The miniscule screen makes it difficult to set up as I was unable to download the app.
Battery life seems good but have not used it on a long journey yet.
I think that Drift should forget some of the gimmicky features and concentrate on making the dashcam mode better and adding EIS so that camera shake is reduced. Also improve the external microphone.
Downloads easily and quickly to my laptop and plays back well. Strange it downloads each file twice.
Extras are a bit too expensive.
Bought this item to use mostly whilst on the motorcycle, works great and picture clear. Also used it as a dash cam in the car for two weeks. Cannot fault the unit at all.Would recommend this item. Also ordered a case and extra mounts for it .Best buy this year.
Great value for money. Easy to get footage off camera to phone using app. Footage seems to be better quality once downloaded to phone rather than viewing on app. Have to buy separate SD card and mount for my bicycle helmet. Has sticky mount for my motorbike helmet. Loads of settings. Fairly easy to navigate through settings. Would recommend but if your looking for top quality picture I might consider the 4K version.
I was a little worried after reading some reviews but i took it out the box, charged it till the lights turned green, slipped in a memory card, linked it to the app easily, set it for 1 touch recording, stuck it to my lid and off i went.only problem is the lack of picture stability, but for the money I’d say it’s better than a gopro, easier to control, the internal mic is poor tho but you can add an external mic if you like.9 outa 10 from me
This is my 3rd different camera and so far it’s very impressive. Battery life – no other ‘bullet type’ css as meta gets near. Picture quality is very good (reg numbers readable). Audio is good when you set the mic level right for your helmet/mic position. It’s very easy to use; once charged you only need one short press for on/off and the app does the rest. Only annoying thing is their after market mic plug being straight – supply a 90 plug mic guys!
Excellent helmet camera, plenty of battery life, just be aware if you need a Mic for it to be able to hear yourself speak, engine noise you will need the the Drift Mic…as it is the only one that works…not a cheap one..I speak from experience..
The camera it’s self is great
I have used this one before how ever when I came to fix on helmet the attachment that fixes to the camera would not tighten up on a closer view I discovered it was broken. Not Happy
First and foremost, it provides great pictures. It sits nicely on the bike handlebars and does not get in way of hand positions. For me, personally, I am not a fan of the attachments that come with the camera (that attach the camera to the bars) – too cumbersome. I have used velcro strips to attach the camera to the bars – that works very well. Also for me, personally, it took a while to work out how the camera works. However, there are great online resources to sort out the gaps in the documentation that comes with the camera. Delighted with the purchase.
In my opinion this is the camera for motorcycle at the moment.
Great battery life (8 hrs). You can set up with the app as view window is small. Time lapse available never used this function. If like me you have two or more you can sync them.together for one touch record. Light weight and easy to use .
I would recommend this camera I have had no problem with it at the moment, good picture quality, good battery life, just wind noise? Hope to make a wind sock to help reduce it, l found it was good value for the price. I added a my own tether to the camera on my helmet and attached it to my chin strap so I would not lose the camera.
Got this for mtbike ,but not had it on yet ,but used it in van and very pleased with it ,battery lasts about 8 hours still good ,ten times better than go pro ,love the rotating lense ,so wherever you mount it you can adjust the lense to suit, picture good quality ,not sure about stability but in van it’s good ,not used the mic and not going to,took abit to connect to phone through Bluetooth to use the app but once done use the app to set everything up on camara ,nice little unit ,defo recommend
Bought 2 of these to go front and back on my bike. The quality is good enough (it’s 1080p HD at 30fps) but it’s no GoPro and has no stabilisation. The sound from the in-built mic is pretty grating but acceptable. However, the battery life is staggering and they are waterproof so don’t need any additional housing. The mount is a standard camera “tripod” mount but there are 3rd party mount options available cheaply on Amazon. Works well enough with a 128Gb card and the app is not too bad.
Can’t really comment on picture quality, as did playback on low Res device, but it is definitely ok. Very happy with battery life, and delivery was super quick!
I was thinking – this camera gonna be trash. I change my mind. After reading bad coments i stilll bought this, and so far so good. I use 3 days – 6 travels each travel 50 minutes. Ant pivture i took, its now. Batery really good. Thats after 5+ hours use. I hope this camera be like thiss forever 😀 i use this in not heavy rain. Quality = price. Soits can be better but i am happy becouse price i pay. I cant recomend you yet but personaly – if i turn back time – iwill buy it ahain 100& Thanks a lot! Btw – delivery was really good thanks for the driver!
Brilliant all round camera. Very pleased with it. Got a few mates that have other models and I think this is the best of the bunch. Fully waterproof so it handles a good downpour.
Only two bad points… I use tag mode a lot, and the camera can only be mounted on the right side of your helmet, you need to press a button to tag the video (save 30seconds (can be changed) either side of the button press). Being on the right side of my helmet means I have to take my hand off the throttle. No good in traffic. To fix this, you’d need a mount on the other side of the camera too. As it stands. I use it upside down then just flip the video during editing.
A mic should be supplied for the price. I got a 1.20 mic and it’s pretty pants.
