The product was purchased for my wife who has mobility issues following two mini strokes. She has found this equipment beneficial in providing support while walking and also easing strain on her back. Very happy with it.
I bought this for my husband it’s sturdy for him. I recommend this.
I bought this as a gift replacement and for the same price this one is far better, it’s so much sturdier and easier to fold than the last one
i love the fact that i can have a little walk to keep from getting so stiff with not being able to get any exercise, This ROLLATOR is bril, l only just got it today but it is going to be in use most of the time just to get me more mobile, and when i get too tired i can have a sit down on the seat. i looked at quite a few but this one came up trumps for me, would definately recommend. veeeee
No video but I can tell you that it has been a life saver for my dad. He can move anywhere now and rest if he becomes too tired. I recommend this product.
I bought this for my husband and he is extremely pleased with it as he can now walk much easier and further holding the Rollator. It was easy to assemble and easy to fold away into the boot of the car, so an excellent buy.
Easy to fold and lightweight so easy to store and lift into boot. Seat is a good size and nice that there’s a little storage box. Wheels are small and narrow with not a lot of contact with the pavement. Would be better if they were wider with better surface traction.
Easy to use. Helps me carry my shopping as i have a bad back.
I purchased this for a friend. She has found it very easy to use and has really helped in getting around. The only thing she found hard is having to lift it up on a step.
I got this for a friend husband as he keep falling over as he has dropped head syndrome because of parkinsons they say its brilliant should had one before good value for money received on time brilliant service it was reduced from 199 to 89 can’t moan at that price.
I love it because I had had a nasty fall before I bought it and it keeps me stable also red is my favourite colour goes with my name Fred and can you stop insisting on spelling everything in American English otherwise couldn’t be bette
This is a great help to me, I find it very difficult carrying shopping so I put in the bag and then if I get tired a can sit down too.
Walking aidIt is a marvellous walking aid. I love it. It even has a seat which lifts up and you can put your handbag in it. Also you can use the seat to sit down when you get tired. It is brillia
Bought this for my wife who has difficulty walking and uses a walking stick.
Since she has had the rollator her walking and stability is so much better and feels more confident with two handles to hold onto.
Walks much farther than before and can use the seat for a rest if needed.
Chair good mostly. tread on tyres could be more efficient as this also has an impact on the brakes. Seat comfortable for about an hour. definitely lighter than the more.expensive model.
Does exactly what it’s made for with good adjustments for height on handles. Be careful there are 2 wheel sizes I bought the larger wheel size for housing outside as well as indoors.
Bought this for my husband who has mobility and balance problems. He has found it very easy to get used to using it and looking forward to being more mobile without the constant fear of falling. It was easy to alter the handle height to suit him, and the seat has proved to be very useful. It folds with one easy move and fits into our small car no problem.
There was one problem with this. The pocket, inside under seat was put on upside down. I used to keep bus pass in it for easy access. Now it would fall out when opening zip. Pity it was handy for keys too. There is plenty holes for various heights. Definitely recommend. Be aware for OUTSIDE use. There is similar one ONLY for INDOORS.
Because of two broken hips a few years ago and now arthritis in knees and back this is the best thing to get around with and having a seat is ideal ..wouldn’t be without one
I barely write reviews, but thought to do it for this one.
Had it for about 2 months now and I am very happy with it and does what it is supposed to do. Some comments mention that the wheels fell off, but has not happened to me so far and I have used it on a lot of tough terrain.
I use it mostly for dog walks and have walked over a lot of different surfaces, which it takes on well, grass, wood, normal path. The only path it struggles with are the cobbled trails, which the wheels often get stuck on the cobble sticking out, while trying to talk over. So I do wish I could change out the wheels to real outdoor ones but was unable to find any to buy.
It is very light and I can lift, fold and unfold it easily. Brakes work well, but I removed one star as the wheels are still rather slippery and even if the breaks are on, on some surfaces it just slides along anyway (if pushed), so that is not really great.
Also makes a lot of noise moving it over normal sidewalks, but given the price, I think that is fair.
Overall, I am really happy with the purchase, but I think next time I would spend more money and a proper outdoor rollator.
This product, recommended by my physiotherapist, has changed my life. Totally maneuverable indoors and outdoors, it has made me mobile, restoring my confidence and improving my quality of life. You definitely need a handyman to cope with the unpacking, assembly, and adjustments, and to practice moving it around indoors before venturing forth. The folding and unfolding is very simple and it sits on a back seat far easier than in the boot. The underseat bag is remarkably capacious, the seat is comfortable and providing you use the wheel locks properly, very safe, with an adjustable back support.
I am so pleased that I bought this Rollator it is so cute, so good, I went out today for the first time and that’s the first time I’ve been out for a walk in over a year, how wonderful is that. It’s gave me so much confidence. I must say it’s one of my best buys, it is so good that it has a seat that’s comfortable with a little bag underneath, the bag won’t hold a lot but I put my phone my blood oxygen meter and keys In the little zip pocket under the seat and a little raincoat in the bag. Wonderful, when I get to walk to the shop the raincoat will have to go then I can put a little shopping in the bag. I would recommend it to anyone and the price is so good, it is very steady and you can adjust it to the right size. I ordered it about 3 o’clock one afternoon and got it the next morning. What more can I say but Buy it.
I broke my knee in April and am gradually getting mobility back to the joint and can manage quite a lot of weight bearing, but having a frame was slowing me down, because all I could do was ‘step and catch up’ with it. Now, I can walk normally, and already feel the difference in my ‘good’ leg, because it can work normally instead of doing all the work of weight bearing. It feels secure to move along and the seat is a game changer when in a queue or something. We went out today for a proper shop and it was wonderful. If you are wondering whether this is worth it, it really is. It goes through normal doors inside and can turn on a sixpence. The bag is a useful size and the zipped compartment really useful. So glad I bought this.
I’ve purchased other Drive items to help my very frail father continue to live as independently in his home as possible. This walker certainly doesn’t disappoint in any way. It’s strong but also easy for my dad to manoeuvre around; he’s now able to support himself on this for small walks. When out on trips it folds easily & fits into the boot of my small car with the back seat down. The incorporated seat makes it easy for dad to rest when tired without worrying about anywhere being available. For the money I can’t recommend this highly enough
Since being diagnosed with arthritis in my right hip I usually use a walking stick to help me walk to the shop but I used to get of breath
So I brought this and found out it’s a lot better to get around plus if I do need to take a breather I just but the brakes on and sit down plus it was assemble and it really sturdiness when you sit down on it
And when it’s not in use it folds away nicely and I would buy another one for my father once the Covid epidemic is over so he can get out and about
So that why I gave this product 5
This was a great purchase for my elderly Dad to get about outside and is very sturdy .. the seat is great as he can rest every few minutes when there are no seats available .. the only thing I would say is that it is very difficult to fold on your own – even for an able bodied person like me.. it’s very stiff and doesn’t fold very compactly..it has no clip or catch to hold it together when folded so it’s a bit cumbersome to then load into a car ( doesn’t fit in a small boot so I have to put it on the back seat) that said – it has been great for my Dad so can put up with the folding issues
100% delighted with the product and seller. The product arrived in under 48 hours, was very well packaged and extremely easy to set up (2 minutes and I’m useless at these things). It appears robust and very suitable for my father who is a little over 6 foot and 15 stone. It is attractive in metallic red (partial, not overdone) providing the satisfaction one gets from owning any well engineered product. It has a seat and a bag under the seat. The brakes are as per a bicycle and have a very easy mechanism to lock them closed which you would use before using the seat. When so many people look to rip off older people (e.g. our local solicitor quoting my parents a 1000 for a power of attorney that they can buy on the Government website for 80) it is an absolute pleasure to find a seller providing a product at 55 that I would have guessed cost 150. Very rare for me to leave feedback, but I’m absolutely delighted with this Drive R8 Rollator.
I bought this for my wife as her old one needed too much repair work. She is very pleased with it although the only critsism I have is there is a lot of plastic parts (that may not be a bad thing) and the seat is quite hard. It is easy to fold, even the back rest folds. It is light and easy to manouver when folded, the brakes are easy to operate and the finish is good.
Straight out of the box and so easy to assemble only needed to put handles in position tighten and away you go, so much easier to walk with than my walking stick NO leaning to one side, the only downside is i find the wheels a bit hash on the pavements as they are solid would like a rubber tyre wheel but for indoors its a blast.
The bag is handy and a nice seat when you need to sit down.
Needed a basic rollator on a temporary basis when visiting family in the UK. Had one like this before so I knew what to expect. Having said this, I knew the quality is not as good as a more expensive Nexus rollator but it still gives the stability I need. My family can fold it for easy storage at their place when I’m not here. Quite easy to assemble. Delivery was fast. Happy with purchase.
Even though my frail 86 year old father has two other walking frames and a trolley on wheels, this walking aid is his favourite by far. It has given him a new lease of mobility. I even managed to persuade him to come out for a walk with me. He has managed to walk over a kilometre outside on the pavement and on an uneven park pathway using this rollator. There is a small storage bag on it and the lid for the storage doubles as a seat with a padded backrest for when he gets tired and wants to sit for a minute. The breaks do lock to allow for safer sitting. It folds not particularly small but compact enough to put into the rear boot/trunk of a medium to large car. He was disappointed that I couldn’t fit it into the rear of my 2 seater sports car as he wanted a ride and a walk!
This product is absolutely brilliant. Comes assembled. All you have to do is to clip in the backrest and adjust the handlebars to the correct height. Some reviews appeared to say it was not easy to fold, but this is not true. It is very sturdy and robust, yet incredibly lightweight. The wider wheels means it rolls easily on gravel and uneven surfaces. The adjustable height handlebars, strong seat with bag underneath are bonuses. Easy to use brakes which can be secured when using it as a seat. The product arrived sooner than predicted and we were so pleased with it, having ordered one for my father, we immediately ordered a second one for my mother, and it arrived the next day. These are the best products we have ordered in a long time and we were very impressed with the delivery times. I have not hesitation in recommending this product.
Purchased for a 70 year old cancer patient with 2 fractured vertebrae.
It’s very easy to set up out of the box. You really only need to snap on the handles and the back rest and you are good too go.
The brakes can be easily adjusted by 1 easy twist screw on either side.
The brakes themselves are a metal strip with teeth sort of like a saw. When you pull the levers the spikes grip onto the rubber of the wheels which I suppose over time could cause chipping and damage to the wheels but so far the brakes haven’t really been necessary to use besides when the rollator is being used as a seat.
When you do use it as a seat the brake levers can be pushed down until they click which means they are locked on until you unlock them. It’s very sturdy overall.
The brakes are easy to pull for my 70 year old mother and it’s all ergonomic enough that its comfortable for her to use.
To fold it up you just pull up on a strap under the seat which is also used as a handy carry handle which given the light weight of the rollator makes it easy to carry around.
The handles are height adjustable with many stages of height so it ought to be a good fit for anyone. My mum is about 5ft 3 and I’m 6ft and the handles can be adjusted to fit us both comfortably with more adjustment room left to make it smaller or even taller.
The only downside is that the seat isn’t padded. It might not an issue if you sit for a short time but you may want to store a cushion in the basket under the seat if you plan any long sits on it.
This walker is an excellent purchase for somebody who needs a little extra stability when walking out and about.
We bought this for use as an indoor and outdoor walking aid for Mum to give her a little bit of extra confidence since she became a little unsteady on her feet.
Very easy to assemble, my husband had it put together and ready for use roughly about 10 minutes after unpacking it.
The frame is very sturdy and solid but also lightweight enough to fold away for transport or storage. The legs of the frame are also height adjustable.
It has 4 wheels with lockable hand breaks plus a padded flip top storage seat.
We chose the blue walker which is a lovely petrol blue colour.
The breaks can be used in two ways:
1To use the breaks during walking – for example up/down kerbs etc – Simply squeeze one or both the break levers in an upwards motion and hold (very similar to a bicycle break) A slight amount of hand pressure is needed to use the breaks in this way. Release the hand pressure and the walker will move again.
2To use the breaks for sitting on the seat. – In a downwards action, push both break levers until they click down in to place. Once both the breaks are engaged this allows for a hands free option and will stop the walker from moving. Again a slight amount of hand pressure is needed to engage the breaks. Simply pull upwards on both break levers to release the breaks again.
Since Mum has been using this walker she has regained a lot more confidence. She is quite happy to once again take herself off out to the local shops without the constant fear of falling.
We give this walker a 5 rating.
A fantastic purchase that has given Mum her independence and confidence back.
I’m in the early stages of post-stroke recovery and the rollator gave me the confidence and support to get back to walking and independence. Its so helpful when we do our weekly supermarket shop, a long way to walk along the aisles. I’m able to have a quick perch when the going gets tough and rest up and gather my strength. The seat lifts up to reveal a really useful compartment for a small handbag, purse, shopping list and even a spare cardigan, so useful in our ever changing climate. It folds easily and fits in the car. Its so light and easy to lift and push along and such a lovely metallic Ruby red. My only negative comment concerns the fact that it doesn’t stay folded up when trying to lift into the car, would have been nice to have a small catch or locking mechanism to prevent this, however this was easily overcome by using a velcro luggage strap round one set of legs to hold it together, problem solved! So to sum up, I love my rollator, I’m a petite 4ft 10in woman and have had no problems with height adjustment or use, it glides along and is very manoeuvrable, with good brakes. . I wish I had bought this sooner, it’s helped enormously with supporting my stroke recovery.
This rollator is great. Having the four wheels gives better stability and the seat is ideal to sit on if you need to rest. I am assuming that the majority of people would leave the rollator parked in a corner, I unfortunately don’t have the space to do this. I have to fold it down to slot it in a space. This is where I find a problem. There is no device to hold it shut. If l could find somewhere to buy one, l would definitely get one. Apart from this the rollator is great, and I would recommend this to people with walking problems or struggle to carry things. Oops, forgot to say that the brakes are good too.
I love this walker. It’s sturdy and easy to fold. It does take up quite a bit of room in the car and I your home but in my opinion it’s worth it because of the sturdiness of the walker. A generous sized seat with enough room in the storage bag for phone, purse, keys, a bottle of drink and even a sandwich and fruit.
Having your own seat to rest on ANYWHERE makes life much easier and less embarrassing when your legs don’t want to work properly.
The brake system is great. The brakes are on both handles and don’t require heavy pressure to work. To lock the brakes for when you wish to sit simply push the brake part of the handle down. So easy.
I needed help putting it together though. It took about 15-20 minutes to fit it all together. I didn’t watch it being fitted together so I’m afraid I cannot comment on what was needed to be done but the person who did it for me didn’t complain so it must have been easy.
I must start by saying that my mum was quite adamant she would never have/use one of these. So the furthest she has been able to walk is to the kitchen without getting breathless. Due to here illness (Wegeners Granulatimosis) she has not been mobile for at least 10 years and more.
I was convinced my mum would benefit so I talked to my sis who was visiting and we decided that for the cost it was worth a try.
It was delivered within the timescale (3-4 days) wasn’t any trouble to assemble. Maybe a leisurely 20 minutes. Mum did not look happy, I said to her ” at least try it, if you feel you cannot do it it’s not a problem but if you just say “no” I will be annoyed”. She tried it – probably did 10 yards, stopping to get breath, then coming back again. She was thrilled as was my self / sister/ dad. She now tries to get out everyday for a short walk and has progressed to achieve a round trip of an estimated 250-300 yards within 2 weeks. She says she feels more alert and is really feeling good about herself.
She now looks forward to her daily “walk” – something she would never have been capable of in the past without the rollator.
I consider this money very well spent just for the “liberation” alone. Build quality seems good but time will tell, (mother in laws is similar and has been through 4-5 years of air travel and taxis as well as being used nearly everyday since we bought it). I have no doubt that the https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009DZS1WW/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0 will give good service..
I purchased this item for my Father who has COPD and due to this has problems with his mobility. He wasn’t fond of the wheelchair provided for him, as he didn’t like having to rely on someone else to push him, despite this i was still worried we would have to use a little encouragement to get him to use the rollator. I need not have worried! Whilst waiting for delivery, which was quite quick i might add, my Father shared a ward with a fellow patient who had a rollator much the same as this one, but without the braking mechanism. He had given it the once over and decided a rollator was just what he needed!
This rollator is foldable, it is light weight, and the braking mechanism is a handy addition, as it gives the user more control and is especially handy when they wish to sit down, as they can lock the brakes in place and it wont move again until they are ready to start walking again. The little storage area under the seat is also handy. My Father says the seat is very comfortable and he likes the benefit of the backrest when he is sitting.
I purchased my rollator in January, after having rather a bad fall at christmastime whilst using my sticks, which had been my walking aids for about five years. Delivery was excellent, and assembly easy and practically nil, so it was soon put to use. Like so many of your reviewers I immediately wished that I had purchased this years ago, it has made my life so much easier. I use it all the time, both indoors and out, and find it very manoeuvrable, strong and sturdy, whilst still being light enough for me to lift up and down the steps by both the front and back doors. I am also walking in a much more upright manner, as it gives me confidence. Conversely, it it also helping me to walk more without any aids, as it is just too big to take right up to the windows when I am closing the curtains, or right up to the loo in the corner, when I used to take my sticks every step of the way. It is a godsend when shopping in the supermarket, I can put my purchases on the seat when my husband disappears with the trolley, instead of standing marooned with hands full of goodies and walking sticks until he thinks to come back for me. And I’m loving the looks I get when I sit down whilst waiting at the check-out!
I do think that there are a couple of tweaks that could be made though. I do find it awkward to fold up, the braided handle doesn’t really work well, it gets tangled up with the seat which is inclined to flip open, which then jams with the back rest, and then the legs keep coming open again anyway, really difficult when you are a little unsteady on your feet. A small attached strap about halfway down the middle section of the legs would be helpful. (My brother, who has the same model, uses an old belt and I have got a bungee belt, but a small strap would be neater and easier). Also, a loose tie for the brake cables would be a help, mine kept bulging out and catching on door handles.
However, that said, I am thrilled to bits, and consider this the best purchase that I have made in years. Especially as my brother-in-law, who also has the same model, paid almost twice as much as me when he bought his from his local mobility store!
The Drive Medical R8BL-23 Lightweight Aluminium padded seat Rollator arrived in two days and at first I was pretty impressed by the height and the 7 inch wheel size as I understand it from the handbook the smaller wheeled version is only intended for indoor use and this model is intended for both indoor and outdoor use. I could adjust the handles to a decent height to and I am 6 foot 6ins tall, in fact a little later I dropped the handles down from their highest position to the next position down as I found it was a long way down to the seat and up again with the handles so high. when I started to move the Rollator around I noticed that one of the rear wheels was actually poorly manufactured/damaged, I checked the box for loose parts but there was nothing, indicating that it was probably damaged prior to packaging in the factory, a quality control issue. Half of the wheel hub appeared to have broken off. I give this Rollator a full five star rating as the customer service by the seller was fantastic, I took a photo and sent it in an email and five minutes later the phone rang the supplier agreed that it must have been damaged prior to packaging he apologized and said he would phone the manufacturer and ring me back, I explained that I felt competent enough to change a wheel and sure enough he phoned me back a few minutes later to tell me that a new wheel would be sent to me directly from the manufacturers, the new wheel arrived two days later. I am very happy with my Rollator the colour is closer to dark purple than a blue but very nice all the same, the front swivelling wheels seem to track very straight and true at whatever speed you want to walk fast or slow and they definitely don’t do that side to side jiggle you get with shopping trolleys with wobbly wheels. The brakes are very good now that I have adjusted them for my own liking and the handles lock the brakes on if they are pushed down locking them on. This does take quite a bit of force to lock the brakes on mine but adjusting the brakes can elevate this for those with slightly weaker hands. The brake handles are a complete loop not a half circular shape like some walkers I have seen advertised on here. there are no sharp edges with which to catch yourself and out of the box if I didn’t need to replace the wheel all I would have needed to do was fit the handles and clip on the brake cables to the frame with the two provided plastic guide clips and adjust the brakes, all in all a brilliant price for a pretty good product and now I know that the wheels are available it may well last me longer than I originally anticipated. I’d like to say thank you at this point to the seller for all the help he gave in acquiring the new wheel and having it sent on to me you don’t often get customer service like that these days. Thank you. if your looking for a good supplier of these frames look no further, this is my first Rollator and from what I have seen in Mobility shops it is every bit as good as the much more expensive models and don’t worry about the width of the seat as even I overflow that a bit, the frame has plenty of width to accommodate those with hips wider than the seat. my waist is 40 inches and there is still plenty of room either side of me inside the frame when seated. buy one what can go wrong if the support from the seller is this good? Brilliant.
