It is quite noisy when scanning and the negative holders make a disconcerting crack when using them. I have also found scratches on the glass which must emanate from the holders, even though I am careful. Apart from that I am most impressed with this scanner and wonder how I ever managed without it !
I’m just starting to digitalise my life instead of having all this stuff. It’s a decent scanner with plenty of features in the free software. The scans are good quality and making pdf files searchable is great. I’d recommend this product.
I don’t want to worry about settings, glare etc – I just wanted to scan in the thousands of photos I’ve taken over the years so they’re not locked away in an album.
This is perfect!
Simple to use & the quality is fantastic. The scanned photos look just like the original. No glare, loss of colour etc. And I don’t even need to make sure the prints are lined up, it does everything. I can scan 4 pictures at once & it splits them up automatically. It’s so fast I can only just keep up with the admin of giving the photos titles.
I’ve only had it a few days & I’ve scanned in 8 albums!
Life changing. Love it.
Bought to create a 40-year anniversary gift in book format. The Epson was used for scanning old photos*, documents, gig tickets, etc. and did an excellent job.
*Personally, I took the photos into Lightroom to create the crops and colour balancing/shifts, but the scanner itself certainly produced an excellent starting point.
Great value for money and simple to use – even if the orientation of the images was oddly confusing, at times!
I’ve just bought this scanner for use with Windows 10, after my trusty HP Scanjet went on the blink, probably due to a Windows update.
It’s a bit cheap (well not that cheap) and nasty but I suppose it does the job.
The software is pretty rubbish compared to the Scanjet, and it didn’t like being connected via a USB Hub.
Pressing a button to print the scan doesn’t seem to work, but I don’t do that very often anyway.
I suppose it’ll do, but a cheaper scanner would have probably worked as well .
Clear and sharp scans in both b/w and colour. Software supplied gives a range of User Interfaces (UIs) from Home to Professional, all intuitive and a higher allows more adjustments during scan. Fits in my laptop bag for transport, it’s lightweight but still sturdy – excellent product at good value.
A really neat scanner which replaced an aged Epson Perfection 4990. No problems with the install and it linking to the Epson Scanner App on the PC. Pricing was keen from Rex’s Online Store and delivery good.
Perfect little scanner for everyday use. Fits very nicely on my shelf and easy to use. Just plug her in and start up the app. Does take some playing to figure it out but it does the trick for me. I use it to scan my polaroids and my parents old film photographs. Quality is great, way better than the printer scanner I have at home and definitely WAY better than taking a photo of a photo with your phone. Worth the price in my opinion. If your computer is old or slow it might lag but that’s a computer issue more than the scanner issue. I also will place a few photographs on the scanner at once and it detects them all and turns them into separate files for me (you can also have it scan them into one file if you prefer). This ability is amazing because it saves so much time and you don’t have to scan each image individually. It isn’t overly fast but I haven’t encountered any scanners that are incredibly fast anyway… if they exist they’re probably hella expensive.
