This mount is an absolute blessing for ultra wide monitors. It is easy to install, very stable and is easy to adjust. I can easily adjust the mount to a suitable height which is easier on my neck, I can rotate the monitor with ease and adjust how close/far I want the monitor to my face. This mount is absolutely worth the money
This monitor arm paired with the HX Heavy-Duty Tilt Pivot is the perfect solution for desk mounting your Samsung Odyssey G9 or I’m sure any other large and heavy ultrawide screen such as the LG 49″ one.
The arm is extremely well made and feels premium in every area, from the assembly through to the motion of moving the monitor around on it being extremely smooth. I do find occasionally trying to move my monitor, I have to swing the monitor one way to then be able to get enough friction to move the part of the arm I’d like, which can make it a bit akward to get it exactly where you want it. That could just be down to certain areas being too tight though which I could loosen up with the included allen key.
The arm isn’t going anywhere though, I’ve got it mounted my sit / standing desk, and when I move the desk up or down, the screen stays solid. When I’m typing on the desk, the massive screen doesn’t really move much at all compared to other monitor arms out there, a true demonstration of the superior build quality of Ergotrons Monitor Arm.
I was so reluctant to purchase this monitor arm for my Samsung 49″ G9 monitor, as it very expensive compared to other monitor arm brands out there. Also I thought I have to buy HX Heavy-Duty Tilt separately, which would be additional cost. I took the bullet, and to my surprise the arm was very easy to install this came with the HX heavy-duty tilt. No need to buy separately.
I am very pleased with my home office setup as this arm completes it.
I have the Samsung G9 and cheaped out on a monitor arm the first time around. It just couldn’t hold the monitors weight and constantly tilted down and took forever to get back into the exact perfect spot to stay up again.
This one however holds it up without an struggle. You can tell it’s much higher quality and very robust. The springs in it are HUGE and well greased.
The cable routing has reusable velcro style loops which I really like.
It was also very easy to mount to monitor onto as a single person. You attach a backplate to the vesa mount on the monitor and then the backplate slides into the monitor arm.
If you’ve ever tried to hold a 12kg monitor up to a hole and screw it in at the same time you know the pain lol. You don’t have to do that with this one
It is quite expensive. You can get a monitor arm for 50 but it wouldn’t be anywhere near as good as this one
Using this for my ASUS XG49VQ ultrawide monitor on a standing desk. Once you get the weight right on the different parts of the arm, it’s amazing how easy it is to move the screen.
This is an awesome monitor arm I’ve used others in the past but this one was by far the best. It supports my Samsung 49-inch CRG9 and I can rotate and adjust the monitor to the height I need it to be whether I am working or gaming. The monitor feels secure on the mount and the arm adjustment is not at its max setting so I’m sure it can handle additional weight.
Ergotron has been a great company to use and I will not be buying any other brand of stand in the future.
Was considering this or a Humanscale arm that I have at work, didn’t expect this to be as good if not better than those.
Used with a 40″ Ultrawide, initially fitted at 29″ ultra wide while waiting for the new monitor but really that wasn’t heavy enough for this arm, as it tended to drift up on the vesa mount.
For the right size / weight monitor this arm is hard to fault.
Product I very well made and feels very sturdy. Good adjustment on base I believe it should fit most desk thicknesses. Quality of the metals used feels very good. Overall it gives you good assurance when mounting my 49inch ultra monitor.
Really very pleased with this dual mount arm. After reading the reviews and considering many other options decided to give it a go and glad I did. It’s on the pricey side but you do get your moneys worth. It looks very smart and is very sturdy. I like that you adjust the tension on various movements so that whatever monitors you install you get a fluid movement and the position stays. No drooping over time. A little fiddly to get right initially but worth it. Cable routing is also pretty good. Not perfect but good enough in my humble opinion and I’m fairly fussy about cables. I have the back of the monitors facing the open room so it needs to look neat. Debated as to whether to give it 5 or 4 but concluded as it wasn’t perfect I needed to make it 4. Close call.
When you pay this much for a monitor arm you are expecting a lot. And this doesn’t fail to deliver. It’s holding a 49″ ultra wide monitor with absolutely no issues. Looks great and super solid, no wobble at all. Good range of movement. It is a bit awkward to install (as it’s so heavy) but you can’t really complain about that.
Also I had to use Ergotron customer support which was fantastic; can’t fault them for that.
Highly recommended.
Not much to say here, big and hefty compared to the ones that are designed for smaller lighter displays.
Have this holding up my Asus PG42UQ with zero issues.
Pros
– Solid construction
– Good support
– All tools provided to install
– Good cable management – just make sure you have cables long enough! 🙂
Cons
– Will take 2 people to potentially drop the monitor on depending on size/weight
– A little stiff to move the display around – my mistake (was a too tight on the tension, loosened it a little and its fine now)
Can’t go wrong if you know you have to support something quite big and weighty.
Purchased a 49″ (AOG) ultra-super wide monitor didn’t even consider the footprint of the stand, being the idiot I am. Didn’t want to risk the monitor on a cheap-o stand, so grew some and purchased this. Superb! And future proof.. could easily handle more weight/curvature. Rock solid and being no engineer, no idea how it does it. I’ve got a pretty cheap black gaming desk. Not as deep as an ikea desk. But but it’s not been a problem. Somehow it just works. Bit of faffing about during set up, but it is reassuringly sturdy.
Firstly, I will admit installation took over an hour and i had to refer to youtube videos to help get the product installed.
Beyond that, it is an excellent product that is incredibly sturdy and can support my ultra wide 34 inch monitor like it’s a piece of paper.
Other monitor arms have drooped or slowly succumbed to the weight but not this one.
Holds that monitor up without giving up an inch in return, and can be adjusted very easy as well to move around my desk which is nice,
Would highly recommend this product but take your time to install and follow youtube videos if putting together monitor arms isn’t your expertise.
Weighs 7 and a half kilos. Holds my g9 neo up without issue. Smooth movement of the arms, Allen key at the base allows you to lock base rotation to set degrees, to get full range of rotation on the base loosen the tiny Allen screw.
Only complaint is the price being the same as a new 32″ monitor. But it’s worth it for the piece of mind on my 49″ beas
Cracking bit of kit, exactly what you’d expect from spending an obscene amount of money on a metal arm. I bought a heavy tilt as I’ve seen reviews that mention this is needed. As of my purchase, this seems to be no longer the case and the correct tilt for the G9 odyssey is provided.
My only gripe other than price is I really wish its obviously stated that the heavy tilt comes provided to save everyone’s time shipping it for me to just return it.
I bought this as I had a desk stand from Ergatron – their products are well made and well constructed. The arm is no exception, it’s even easier to install.
The range of motion is restricted however to the first column which doesn’t swivel 360 degrees which limited the ability to stow away the monitor from a desk (if like me you use it on your kitchen table).
My monitor is very large (Samsung 34J890) and the attachment that comes with the arm supports it with no issues at all, so need to for the extra for larger monitors.
Overall excellent kit but very pricey
Needed a better mount for a 5k2k screen that was drooping on my old mount. Weighs about 9.5kg. Old stand only rated to 8kg so not really its fault. Great range of movement. Better than I was expecting and solid desk clamp. I can now extend the screen to watch in bed as well. Perfect. Cable management is not perfect for this kind of monitor (which is a dock too so has a fair number of cables going into it) — it doesn’t hold them as tight as I think it needs to, given the sweeping movements that can happen because the arm is so flexible. There are screws that look like you could use to secure cables more tightly, but I haven’t tried yet. Despite this, it still exceeded my expectations!
The only thing stopping me giving this 5 stars is the price, but it’s streets ahead of the Amazon Basics Premium (the re-badged Ergotron LX). This hold my Samsung LC49RG perfectly, without shake or sag (no heavy duty pivot; that appears to be only needed for the G9 white/gaming version).
Looks great and sturdy as a rock though. Brilliant piece of kit!
I bought this for my 49″ ultrawide curved monitor. It held it up alright on its own, but the screen tilt kept sagging down slowly. So I bought this extra strength hinge: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08P53X9PF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and now it has been completely fixed, monitor arm works perfectly.
Also, another point is definitely adjust the tightness on the height setting as my monitor sagged down there too, but increasing the tightness fixed the issue entirely.
This is a good monitor arm, perfect for your huge 49″ monitor so you can finally reclaim that desk space from the monster monitor stands that these big monitors come with.
This thing looks great, is good quality and can hold the weight of the Odyssey G9. However the tilt pivot that comes with it isn’t strong enough to hold the G9 at an upright angle.
To fix this you have to buy the HX Heavy Duty Pivot. Once this is install it all works perfectly
IMO its a bit pricey (nearly 300 quid for the arm and the heavy duty pivot) but for Odyssey G9 owners this is likely your best be
Used with Dell 37,5” U3818DW (9,5kg)
* Extremely easy to assemble.
* Complimentary screws.
* Gentle touch operation
* Any desired position (tilt, swivel, rotate, up, down)
* Very sturdy gentle beast
Owned cheaper 30-60 options in the past, had trust, operation and anger issues.
The only issue I had so far was to miss a plastic top (knob like) screw in the package. Super cool solution which saves your from using a screwdriver. Contacted amazon who advised return. Contacted the manufacturer who offered postage from Netherlands. I realised I am not bothered enough to hassle anyone further and given up.
Look no further item, highly recommend.
I know why you’re here…
You’ve got a MASSIVE 49 inch ultrawide monitor which is too heavy for every single monitor mount you’ve ever found.
You want your desktop space back and you’re tired of your monitors stock stand taking up 80% of your desk space.
Well the search is over. This is the one. I kid you not. Simple setup with decent instructions.
Super sturdy monitor arm and amount – as if it was made specifically for this monitor lol. Comes with all the tools you need, nothing extra is needed.
Once I had mounted the monitor to the stand I had to tighten a few of the arms joints so that it would hold the monitor correctly.
After that I was DONE. WELL WORTH THE 200.
I am absolutely delighted with this. I have a Samsung G9. I bought this and the special Ergotron Heavy Duty Mount. I was terrified of fitting it, especially as it’s all held on with just two screws. I elected to use “Fischer FSA Sleeve Anchors Silver 10 x 85mm M8”, drilling right through might dot n dab wall into the breeze block. It holds perfectly, and even with my shoddy DIY skills, my G9 is safe. Definitely have 2 people for lifting the monitor onto the arm safely. And also expect it to initially sag once fitted. You tighten it once the monitor is on to calibrate it for the given weight. Then it will hold position anywhere you place it. Instructions give handy measurements to help guide where to place the mount vs where you want the monitor to end up, but you only need to be approximate, thanks to the arm being so adjustable. It’s fantastic, and perfect pair with a G9 as long as you upgrade to the mount.
The arm itself is quality made but the up/down tilt hinge is weak and they expect you to purchase another part for 70 rather than just supplying the stronger one in the first place or selling two versions to choose from.
I’ve ended up using washers to prop the hinge so now don’t have any up/down motion which is a bit of a disappointment for the money.
Glad it exists and looks/works the way it does for the most part but the hinge thing is annoying.
Expensive, but when looking at the cheaper alternatives, and then this, which could be as supplied in an office, I’m glad to have spent more.
The two I ordered are holding 43″ Dell UHD monitors for myself and my wife. We are both professionals and therefore our working day is comprised of documents, e-mails, spreadsheets etc.
Being older (!) the eyes appreciate the larger monitors – but the ergonomics of the space taken on our desks wasn’t as good. These monitor arms have totally changed that – the perceived amount of desk space reclaimed seems far more, and, as alluded to, with two sets of older eyes, it’s wonderful being able to adjust where the monitor hangs in mid air for the most comfortable use.
It’s not all perfect – the self installation instructions were not 100% clear, but the biggest obstacle is how to attache the monitor to the back plate – that took two of us, and the design here does need re-thinking – it isn’t great in the version we bought. However, now the monitor is attached – it goes to, and stays, wherever I position it.
A heads up: do not under estimate the forces caused by the weight of a monitor – even though ours are very large, I was somewhat surprised at how much I had to use the tightening tool to stop the monitor easing down to the desk after first putting it up. But to give the makers their due – they’ve put a lot of leeway into the tightening system, and once this niggle was sorted out, the monitor stays where put, even after moving it around because of zoom calls etc…
Expensive, but so glad I bought.
Very substantial arm. Excellent construction, it feels every bit as capable of handling the very biggest of curved monitors as it’s astronomical price would suggest. Easy to mount to a concrete wall, 2x M8 bolts with wall plugs (both supplied, needs a 10mm masonry drill). I’m using this with a Samsung 49″ G9 and it is perfect… however you will need the ‘heavy duty’ head for yet another 65 to make sure the front isn’t too loose and liable to drooping.
Having to pay for the standard arm and head, and then having to remove the existing head to replace with the new head, is a massive waste of money. Why can’t I buy this arm with the head I need, at a better price? Why bleed your customers for even more money for a ‘heavy duty’ head alone?
I recommend this monitor arm, it’s the best I’ve used and seen, but I’m still aghast at the nearly 300 cost just to hang my monitor on the wall!
Installed my Samsung LC49HG90DMUXEN 49″ Curved Ultrawide monitor within half an hour on my own. Hardest past was lifting the monitor onto the bracket. After a few tweaks and turns of the tension screws I have full motion of the whole arm. The monitor doesnt droop so no need for the heavy duty tilt pivot. Leaves so much more desk space for my sound bar. Only one draw back is because there is so much more movement with the monitor I now have to replace the 2 input cables that I use due to not being long enough. But what a piece of kit, hats off to elgotron for the quality of this monster.
Bought for use with my Samsung CJ890 49″ Ultra wide, which weighs 12KG. Full disclosure, I originally went for a cheaper arm (85) which was rated to hold up to 15KG. It was fine, but the VESA mount and bracket were thin and weak, meaning the monitor sagged forward. I was concerned it was going to break, landing my expensive monitor on the table/floor so decided to return and get the Ergotron. I figured that, for me, it’s worth the price for peace of mind.
The VESA mount is super sturdy (see photo for comparison of cheap thin vs thick strong Ergotron alternative). The range of motion is superb, and so smooth – no issues with sagging forward. Cable management is good, as is the bottom clamp. The arm itself is super strong, and so well finished – you really see the quality control that goes into the manufacture which you don’t get with cheaper alternatives from no-body companies in China.
My advise to anyone looking at this and considering a cheaper alternative for a 49″ Ultra wide, don’t waste your time like I did. Spend the extra cash and get the monitor arm that’s clearly designed to hold it! I’m very happy with my purchase.
I swear the makers of this thing were trying to get a military contract by building machine gun mounts for ground vehicles. The arm is solid, really solid and the springs are deadly.
Seriously, be careful when you assemble this thing. It can so easily snap up and chin you and it will knock a tooth out with ease.
My only complaint are the springs, they are powerful and they can carry some very large monitors. Well, some of us mere mortals don’t have megatron displays on which to game. If the designers could add in a little more spring tension adjustment to make them less aggressive, then this product could be perfect.
Overall the arm is solid and won’t flex when you move it. It won’t droop down over time and if it does, you have the option to adjust the spring tension.
Attached some shots of the install process. It took some time, but I went slow as I did not want to do anything to jeopardise the security of the stand and risk damaging my monitor.
Since I have a hole in my desk for a grommet I opted to change the mount clamp out, this gives me the extra space behind my desk (this was easy). Then after a couple of twists of the Allen key the arms were secured. I had to remove my monitor from the old stand, luckily finding the original adapter that came supplied to install the monitor to the Ergotron HX. Slipping it on was a two person job, opting to be cautious on this part of the process. The monitor did not sag too much, but it did require a slight tightening to get it perfect.
The biggest benefit is having more desk space and less dust collecting plastic, additionally it allows more freedom to adjust the monitor forward and backwards which was not possible with the provided stand. It comes with adapters to attach TV’s and other VESA compatible devices and I could see this working really well for that. It’s a superb product and if you’ve invested in an ultrawide monitor there really isn’t another option right now.
I purchased this monitor arm following some reviews on YouTube as to its suitability for supporting ultrawide screen monitors. I work with an LG 49WL95C ultra wide monitor that comes in with a weight of approx 29Ibs (12.6Kg) alongside the big real estate desktop space that I need for my work. The Ergotron arm copes with this monitor with ease. It’s solid construction holds the monitor steady at various heights with ease and it provides good tilt motion movement. The arm also gives you the option to rotate the monitor from a horizontal to vertical position if you wish. Building the unit is not too difficult and can be done by one person for the majority of it. It’s only when you come to fix the arm to the monitor itself at the end that you ideally need that second person to assist. The unit is finished in a high quality matt white and provides some basic cable management options in the frame itself.
Overall I am very happy with this monitor arm. It is a solid and sturdy unit that easily holds the screen in whatever position you want and only occupies a small footprint on your desk, especially when compared to the stand that the monitor ships with.
After many years of using sub-standard monitor mounts and after much research I opted for the Ergotron HX for my Apple Thunderbolt display and I am not disappointed – quite the opposite, to the extent that I felt compelled to write this review. There is a reassuring heft to the arm, it is extremely well designed and engineered such that I could put it together by myself, within 20 minutes. The range of motion is excellent, I can sit, stand and swivel my monitor to suit as well as rotate landscape or portrait, or even tuck it flush against my wall to maximise desk space. I opted to mount it on the desk grommet and previous arms I have used have all eventually worn away due to the extremely heavy Apple monitor (~10kg), but this is, so far, flawless. The instructions seemed confusing at first, but I just followed the diagrams and it is fairly logical. You get an extremely wide assortment of screws and extensions to suit most Vesa mount sizes (though I did have to buy a separate Vesa adaptor for the Apple display), as well as the tools you need to get the job done. The cable tidy is effective-ish, though the plastic cover could have been metal, but I am really just nitpicking now. Thumbs up
