I was lucky enough to buy these when Amazon had them on a promotion price. They are amazing quality and I love them. If they are well looked after they will last many many years.

Frighteningly sharp, exactly what is needed for a large collection of roses and shrubs.

Superb, sturdy, sharp and beautifully engineered. Should last decades. Not cheap, but a bargain for what you get.

If you look after them they will last a lifetime.

Perfect for what they are intended to do, doubt if they can be beaten. Had first pair for 30+ years, so second pair here we go. Good job FELCO.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAfter using and breaking many scateurs in the past, a friend recommended FELCO to me and they have withstood many years of use (and abuse!). Very highly recommended, and pleased that spare parts are still available. Keep them lubricated and sharpen occasionally and I see no reason why I would want anything else.

Having bought these they have made life in the garden so much easier and worth every penny compared to cheaper models.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought my first pair of Felco Model 2 secateurs a few days ago and have been using them to clear ivy from a stone wall. They feel very sturdy and they cut the ivy easily. When I removed the secateurs from their packet I noticed that the blade had been oiled. I also noticed a small black plastic thing inside the packaging. I had initially thought it was to reinforce/hold the plastic packaging in shape, and I nearly threw it away, but then realised that the two holes in it fit over the screws so they must be for tightening the screws, so I’ve kept it.

I bought my first pair of Felcos when I was at horticultural college 50 years ago and, with only a couple of professional services in that time, they are still going strong despite constant use.

My second pair, the first lasted forty years, and has been swiped by persons unknown. This new pair is identical to the old one, and looks to give similar service for someone.

The Felco 2 stands tall over the wasteland of cheaper alternatives. It’s expensive compared to others, and for good reason. Build quality is excellent. Blade is sharp out of the package and doesn’t need sharpening for a while after use. Should any part break, spares are available so you don’t have to spend a big sum of money replacing the whole secateurs. To sum it up, the Felco 2 is the Rolls-Royce of secateurs.

Genuine Felco excellence, these (model 2) pruning shears are the real deal and match up exactly to my expectations of such a well known and trusted tool. Felco are considered to be among the best of the best for good reason and the classic model 2 cutters are still exceptional in both style, function and build quality. I could not be happier with them. Buy once with confidence, these will last you a VERY long time.

I’ve worked as an urban gardener for a number of years and since I was 16 have had the same pair of felco model 2s (along with other secateurs from the felco range used for different jobs) which i’ve had attached to my belt for years now, and i’ve put them through all weathers, used them on all sorts of plants for different tasks and sure as hell dropped them half a million times. I see these to be the best all-round professional secateurs on the market. I say that while knowing there are better ones out there such as some of the Japanese makes but they cost 4 times as much. As long as you don’t lose these and keep them clean, sharp and oiled they are a lifetime investment for any professional gardener or amateur alike.

This FELCO Secateurs (Large) is strong and very sharp. It has retained it’s cutting ability extremely well. It is very robust. I have used it to prune all manner of shrubs.
It is easy to hold and use with bare hands, however it is not so easy to use with gloved hands, because it’s handles are covered in smooth plastic, and it is therefore difficult to retain one’s grip on it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAs a horticultural worker, Felco 2 were the secateurs of choice. Upon retirement I decided perhaps cheaper tools would suffice. After a few seasons I realised my mistake, having to replace my secateurs every season. I decided to revert to Felco. They are the only ones I know where every part is replacable. The Felco 2 may not suit everybody as they are quite large, but I find them fine with my medium hands, and the wife has adapted to them with her small hands. This not a problem though as the Felco range is vast and there are secateurs to suit everybody.

I bought these then my professional gardening friend saw them and said that I had the best because he had the same pair bought 15 years ago which he uses every day. Comparing them there was little difference very little sign of wear and tear on his and he cleans them with a Crean block and camelia oil at least once a week. Really good tool. The only way you would get better is to pay for the most expensive Japanese secateurs.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThese are unusual in use – and certainly helpful. It’s just a question of getting used to them. They were highly recommended by a garden mobility aids specialist reviewer – fairly pricy but a small price to pay for less achy hands or secateurs that trigger, er, trigger thumb etc Nice and sharp too- I bought a cheaper version of the allied recommended sharpener and that’s worked like a charm on other garden devices and household scissors and kitchen knives. Too soon to tell whether I really like these secateurs but they are far more comfortable, once you get them open ( I had to Google how to open them, how embarrassing) and cut really well too.

Golden Review Award: 25 From Our UsersI bought a pair of these for my girlfriend about seven years ago and they’re still as good as they ever were. I bought Felco’s diamond sharpening stone too and along with common sense maintenance I can honestly see them lasting a lifetime.

My mum needed a new pair of secateurs – she has a drawer full of cheap ones, I did my best to fix them up but they’re just not good, they’re semi-disposable really. So I bought another pair of Felcos and she’s extremely pleased. I’ll keep on top of the maintenance for her but putting them side by side with a knock off pair she has was laughable.

I don’t really garden myself (well I do, but I don’t love it!) but I like my tools and appreciate a well made precision tool when I see it. There’s tools you buy for an odd job that you probably won’t use again, so a cheaper one might do. Then there’s tools that will be a mainstay of your longterm hobby or work and it’s always worth buying the best you can, both economically and for the best results.

Secateurs definitely fall into that category as they’ll potentially see decades of year-round usage. The fact that the Felcos can be easily maintained, stripped down, have their parts replaced and the business end is made from extremely high quality steel (they come with a precise cutting edge that will pass the “paper test”) means that for less than 50 they’re a sensible investment. I use a variety of cutting tools in my hobbies and the Felcos are as good as any of them.

So, don’t have a drawer full of rusty blunted tools! It’s a shame that people replace their secateurs when they stop cutting or functioning as they should, whether that’s through lack of maintenance or just buying the cheapest ones they can. It’s wasteful and a false economy. Grab a pair of Felcos, maintain them, and you’ll have years of gardening joy (whatever that is!).

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI’ve owned a pair of budget range Felco L83 for a couple of years and use them mainly for cutting outdoor giant Yucca plants. The plants have very tough, fibrous leaves and are difficult to cut with the L83, which are now starting to stick and become blunt.
I saw the Model 2 on Amazon Warehouse for 30 and they were listed as ‘Like New’ but appear to have had a couple of weeks use!
Having said that the difference in quality is significant and they cut through the Yucca like it’s a blade of grass. They also handle much better too. The only reason I’m marking them down is for the adjustment tool, which is a total waste of time and would not loosen the locking mechanisms without risking injury. As this is around 5 to buy new perhaps they could be provided without one and this could be reflected in the price.

I can certainly vouch for the Felco 2 secateurs as I now have two pairs of them!

I brought the first pair for my wife 16 years ago and they have been superb. I do keep those sharp and oiled, and that’s a pleasure to do also for such high quality items, part of the joy of owning them in fact.

Problem came when we were both out in the garden and when I needed a pair to have in the van…so….looked around at cheaper items, both on Amazon and also in “real life stores” (gosh, shock, horror!). Once you have had a pair of Felcos, you really are just never going to be satisfied with anything else! So, I dug deep and splashed out on a second pair.

Interesting that whilst I had kept the others in super condition, the new ones are of course amazing! The quality is still the same, the look and feel the same and yes….I even checked them on the kitchen scales to see if they weighed the same – they do!

So, these are the same, top quality items that they always were. Supplied with a very, very sharp blade too — be careful!

Yes, lots of cheaper ones around, and yes these are pricey. Here you get what you pay for.

However, they really do the job with ease, they are comfortable, they feel great in the hand and they are made to out last anything else you could buy.

I have stuck with the model 2 on both occasions as I just like them but would be sure the others in the range would have the same qualities. I might even look to see what other products Felco do as I am a bit of a critic normally with tools and these are even up to my exacting standards!

So, if you want a treat and want something really amazing that will last, then don’t hesitate, these are the top choice.

A pleasure to use and own.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI’ve been using Felco secateurs for over thirty years and find them incomparable to cheaper copies, I don’t know why but they just out perform secateurs that look identical to Felcos. They continue to be the choice of professionals so that tells you something. I use a Felco 2 as it is a full size professional pair of secateurs. I bought these Felco 6 as a present for me mum as they are slightly smaller and I think she’ll find them just right for her hand. I bought a pair of Felco 6 secateurs many years ago and found them to have all the wonderful robustness, sharpness etc that I’d come to expect from Felco. They are perfect for dead-heading, cut flowers, and smaller pruning jobs. For general gardening and the ability to prune stems of a diameter of an inch or more I’d always choose Felco 2… but I think many women would enjoy the smaller Felco 6…the jaws open a little less but they are precise and light in the hand. The info on the box says the secateurs can cut up to 0.8 inches and is suitable for a medium hand. Perfect lady secateurs I’d say…for larger pruning use a pair of loppers.

Golden Review Award: 60 From Our UsersThese secateurs are not actually correctly labelled. The headline says Model 7 Classic but they are actually Model 7 Professional, which is what is described and what I wanted.

It is hard to choose which model you want, so before shelling out the not inconsiderable sum for these beasts I suggest you visit the Felco World web site which details the 20 models available (including for left-handers), then purchase here, where it is cheaper. It does not provide side by side comparisons, so you have to wade through a bit, but there is lots of information there.

The web site also lets you order parts and has good drawings. So if you lose the maintenance and parts list which is on the inside fold of the backing card of your secateurs, you can get it there. There are also how-to videos.

They are clearly very well made and the parts availability and dismantling-capability are big pluses for me to justify the price.

It is worth a word about the “rolling action” of the lower handle which this model has (and some others such as the Compact Deluxe). A number of secateurs have this now and I read some reviews where people really hate it. I can see why as the effect is odd. What happens is that as you squeeze the outer handle rolls up your fingers. This has the effect of moving the pressure point so is a big advantage if you are doing a lot of cutting and your hands get tired. My wife has arthritis and so I thought this would suit her, but she also very often rejects new things so I was not sure; to her own surprise she said that within a few minutes she’d simply forgotten about this feature, just taking it for granted. However she did find she dropped them a few times, but thinks that will stop once she has got more used to them.

Of course you don’t have to have this feature, which is on two models only at present (look for the thicker lower handle.

Performance: well they cut like a dream — as would cheap ones brand new. But they do seem a cut above (sorry!) any of the many other supposedly quality brands I’ve owned over the years.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought these for my sister who is a keen gardener. She was amazed how sharp they are! I’ve had a pair for ages and love them and I’d already bought sister number 1 a pair so we are all Felcoed up now.
OK they are expensive but they are comfortable to use (even if you have smaller hands) and really do the job. I seem to remember someone commenting that they lose their edge. I haven’t found this to happen particularly fast. When they do get less sharp a quick go with a sharpener (I have the Felco Diamond Sharpener) is all that’s needed. I’m guessing that the reason you can get them so sharp is down to the steel used. If the metal was harder it may hold an edge longer but you couldn’t get it as sharp in the first place. If you are hesitating about making the investment – don’t! As long as you don’t lose them they could last a lifetime. You can easily get spare blades etc and Felco do a full refurb service by post when you feel they are a bit tired

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFelco does it right, I don’t understand how it can be so difficult and why so many other manufacturers can fail in something so simple. I wish there was more products like Felce.

If you plan to use your secateurs for more than a couple of years, don’t waste your money on a different brand than Felco. The Felco secateurs are built sturdy and well, they’re built to last, the individual parts are all replaceable and fit well together. It’s not rocket science to build a good product and yet so many other companies fail in making a product that works just as well and with as great satisfaction.

Once you own a pair of Felco secateurs you might even wonder if what all the fuss is about because the just go about their function without calling any attention to themselves. They don’t squeek and they cut well and they just keep on working well. Once adjusted to the right tension to suit your use and to make sure they don’t bind when opening and closing, all you have to do is clean them after use and they’ll serve you well.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersI chose these secateurs as I have very tiny hands and these are just the perfect size. They are lovely to hold and use, having a nice weight to them. They are beautifully sharp and a pleasure to use, cutting cleanly and easily. I thought hard before buying them as you can purchase secateurs far more cheaply, but I have now been through several pairs of cheap secateurs and they all become difficult to use very quickly, so are a false economy. These secateurs if properly looked after should last a life time. The packaging has a full diagram of the parts, and instructions for servicing the secateurs yourself. I like the fact that in these days when everything is made to throw away, these buck the trend. The red handles are comfortable to grip and make them easy to spot when left lying around the garden or allotment. I do however have a couple of small niggles, the locking mechanism was awkward to start with and after a couple of uses became impossible. I could not open them at all. Eventually I applied WD40 and left it to work its magic. It took several hours before I could open them, then I could not lock them – it was a full day before I could lock them again. However, it appears to have worked and I have been able to lock them ever since. The other point to note is that the catch to lock them is quite sensitive and you think it has locked only to find that they suddenly spring open and you need to push the catch round a further notch. This said I wouldn’t swap them for another brand.
