The first thing I noticed was how easy this camera is to set up. The quality of the video s is excellent once transferred to the computer. The in camera screen is a bit bright but definitely shows whether you caught something. Excellent and fast customer service. They really want us to have a good experience with.their product. Impressed with the camera you get for the price as well. I bought another one.
It works perfectly. Just as stated and I think I will get another for the front yard. Well worth the money.
I use it in fields and woods have five I belong to a hunting forum every time I see it on sale at amazon like at Christ mas and a few weeks ago I post on hunting forum and can’t believe how many people buy some usually 20 to 30 and that’s just people that post think I help you sell a lo
As far as I can tell there is no battery backup on this cam. That means that I have to reprogram the unit when it loses power. ( changing batteries ). Not a major issue but a minor inconvenience. Otherwise a decent product for the price.
My husband wanted this camera to see what activity was in the woods behind our house. The daytime clarity is pristine. The night is via infrared so while the pictures are just as clear, the colors are not there, everything looks pretty much like black and white.
I have been using trail cams daily for years. I have owned different models and think these(I have two) are great for this price range. After operating them for 6 months, one failed to turn on. I contacted the company and followed their troubleshooting advice. I let them know it still was not working and they sent me a replacement. It quickly arrived and the new one is back out in the field. Feel confident about ordering from this company. Great customer service!
I have the older Model E3 which has worked OK. The newer model E5 has a push button to activate the camera which appears to be a solution to the slide switch in the older model. It is a much needed improvement.
At first had problems with SD card not showing all pictures, so reformatted the SD cards and work good from then on. Used in North Idaho for 7 months through end of November 2022, worked good through a week of 7 degree Fahrenheit nights/early mornings (Cold Deer Hunting). So far so good. Waited for sale price of $53.99 and bought a second camera.
I had some bears come through my yard. It is common for us to see deer, turkeys, possums, raccoons, etc. I live in the Appalachian Mountains. I wanted to record 24/7 to see what animals did come up very close to my house. It is very easy to hook up, take down, and review the pictures. I LOVE it. BTW I am a 62 year old woman with zero experience with trail cams. I researched and saw this one was rated the best. I am not disappointed.
This is very easy to set up and to use. The picture quality is decent.
While it does not come with rechargeable batteries, you cold always use your own rechargeable AAs.
Bought another Trail Cam and had set it up. Checked pictures today and was very impressed with the quality and clarity of the photos. Even the night photos were awesome. We have 2 black labs and we knew it was them cause we could see them when they walked in front of the camera. Thank you for the most wonderful photos from our trail cam. We will definitely be buying another one to set up in a different spot. the deer photos and even my ground hog photos were clear and the bucks, gorgeous. Thanks, I highly recommend this Camera.
Love this camera except the night vision pictures are not as clear as shown in the advertisement. Daytime pictures are excellent and the range of view is the best I have found.
The pictures aren’t the clearest but it does capture the movement. With the antlers in velvet its hard to see the actual points. The first night it caught several bucks/does, 2 porcupines, and a coyote. It was easy to program. (Woman using it). No problems.
This game camera exceeded our expectations! I bought this for my dad for father’s day so he could see what wildlife we have visiting our family camp. We left it up for 3 weeks and got over 5,000 photos! The motion detection is insane! You could see deer WAY off in the distance (honestly, we had no idea what the camera was picking up until I got the card onto a laptop and saw it on the bigger screen) It blew our minds! We haven’t played around with the video option yet, so I can’t say anything about that. But the photo quality is amazing! I have posted a couple of our favorites here for your reference.
I’ve been using this trail cam to monitor the evening “visitors” to my allotment – mostly people! The colour means I’ve been able to just tie it to a tree using the provided strap and it’s near invisible. Especially at night. The light it puts out at night is actually invisible – there’s no glowing red bank of LEDs.
Installation was really easy – it needs 8xAA batteries and an SD card to get going. Once they’re in you can push the “start” button to arm it for motion detection and leave. It’ll need reviewing because you can adjust the motion sensitivity and activate the motion detectors on the side, but that’s fairly easy, and once you have those dialed in it’s pretty much maintenance-free. If you’re getting a lot of pictures of moving branches you can lower the sensitivity.
The batteries have lasted me several weeks now, which I’m impressed with. When I’m ready to review the card I can just pop it out of the camera and take it home to review the footage (videos or photos, you can decide in the settings). I really could do with a second card that I can pop in so it’s always set up.
I found it was a bit picky with which SD card I used. It’s fine with most SD cards I tried, but I bought a 128Gb micro-SD card and it wasn’t recognised at all in the provided adaptor, I had to try a few different adaptors until I found one that worked.
This wildlife camera comes in a well presented box, with everything laid out clearly. The enclosed manual gives a lot of detail and really helps with setting everything up. So it would work as a gift for someone.
It feels well made and has a robust look to it.
I have put this in our back garden to keep an eye on our pond, as we suspect a cat has been hanging around it at night.
The quality of the picture is between decent and good. It can tend to be a little blurry if what it’s recording is reasonably close to the camera. For that reason, we have moved the unit about 10 feet away from the pond and it’s improved the sharpness of the footage a lot.
Not surprisingly to me, the quality of the picture is markedly better during the daylight hours than it is at night time in the darkness. Although that’s not to say that it doesn’t produce a decent picture at night, because it does.
The sound is clear and is actually quite impressive.
It’s been outside in very hot weather with the hot sun beaming down on it, as well as torrential rain in the last couple of weeks and the camera is still working perfectly. The waterproof seal around the edge is definitely doing its job.
I have found it to be very responsive to movement in the garden and we have caught the said cat a couple of times entering the garden now, both times via the same part of the fence. So we have blocked that entrance now and the cat hasn’t been back since. So the camera has done what we hoped and really helped us with the pond issue!
This is an excellent product if you need access to a solid but cost effective trail camera. It is made of strong, impact resistant plastics, with an array of motion sensors and IR light panel on the front as well as the lens of course. The unit hinges open to reveal a large battery compartment for 8 AA batteries – my only real gripe is that this unit does not have a rechargeable option built in – and you can’t use rechargeable AA’s as they don’t meet voltage requirements!!.
The other half of the hinges interior has a small display and large, easy to use control buttons for setting up the cameras features. It also has room for the SD card to be inserted, and when closed the unit is sealed tight with an O ring to keep everything dry. I set this up out in my garden for two days and nights in all weathers without a hitch.
A variety of settings allows for recording of both video and stills, triggered by motion or just set to capture Timelapse. You can change the PIR sensitivity (I suggest medium, as high captured every movement of the leaves on the trees and resulted in thousands of triggers in a 24 hour period, but medium had only 150 triggers in a 24 hour period including a wonderful shot of a beautiful fox.)
You can also alter the delay from detection to recording and the quality, and length of video, or number of shots per trigger.
Apart from the battery gripe, my only other is you have no way of viewing the scene you have sent up without setting it up, then capturing a shot, and reviewing it, requiring you to open and view the built in screen. Maybe a bluetooth chip in the next one to connect to the screen on your phone for live view.
This is a good camera to use in the garden with the kids. It’s very easy to use if you just plug it all in and leave it out, admittedly the menus take some going through and a fair bit of setting up with time, date and other settings for still pictures or motion capture but you don’t need to mess with all these. They are mostly self explanatory and although you can leave most of them alone I’d recommend setting the time and date as a minimum as it’s on the footage.
The quality of the build is very good and it does take 8 AA batteries which is a lot but as we found with the sensitivity being near a tree meant that the moving branches set it off all night so use rechargeable batteries if you don’t want to be buying a lot.
It used the good old flash cards which I’ve not used for a long while now with everything being micro as now and there was no issues plugging this in to the laptop and browsing the media folder, we have been reducing what we get though as there are normally hundreds overnight in a busy plant/tree place.
It’s really good fun to use and it does get exciting going through the footage the next morning which you can skip through on the display and play back videos without having to plug the ads card into anything which is a time saver and saves an extra job to do before being disappointed about capturing 60 pigeon videos and some leaves.
Highly recommended to play with one of these, we have no idea we had a secret pet hedgehog which we now feed.
I’m not a camera buff, so I was a bit nervous about this camera; it’s bigger than I expected, and I was a bit daunted by the manual’s sections on customising the settings. But on reading it carefully and trying it out I found I could get the thing up and running and doing what I wanted pretty painlessly. I did have to go out for AA batteries, as it takes 8, and I bought in an SDHC card for it. Formatting the card was a doddle, and I had no trouble setting things like date and time. Fixing the camera with the strap provided was a bit fiddly, but once in place the camera has not budged even when I ejected the card and replaced it, or adjusted the line of sight.
The picture quality is very good, and the sound clear. I have mine set to take 10 second video bursts, and I’ve been pretty happy with the result. I have not obtained any night footage, which I suspect is because my night-time visitors are below the range of the motion sensors; that’s something I intend to experiment with. Overall I’m very pleased with this camera, which is very user-friendly, and I think it would be good for anyone but the most advanced and demanding users (and even they might find it meets their needs).
This is a great wildlife camera! It’s really easy to use, instructions are nice and simple. The picture quality is great. A lot better than I was expecting. Motion detection works really well. Very pleased with it. Good value for money.
I’ve been interested in seeing what’s roaming around my garden at night for some time and so I have another trail camera that I’ve used quite a bit. I was happy enough with it until I got this one, and now I’ve seen what I was missing out on I can’t go back!
The unit itself is easy enough to hide in the garden and it’s well camouflaged, although in my experience the local wildlife don’t seem to give two hoots about a camera out in the open but maybe that’ll be more important in other situations.
The screen and menu do a good job of presenting all the available options so it’s easy to configure for the way you want to use it. In my case I’ve set it to record only at night because that’s when all the interesting wildlife comes out to play.
The captured footage is really good even at night when it’s taken using infrared. You can either remove the SD card or plug it into your PC with a USB cable to access the footage directly.
Using AA batteries seems slightly old school these days, but it probably keeps the cost of the camera down and they do last quite well.
I am so excited to have this because we have family abroad and they live near a national park where there are wild wolves.. YES, WILD WOLVES. I will be going over at the end of summer for a couple of weeks so I cant wait to test this out.
The camera quality is great and the night vision is as good as it gets, the straps are super strong and the camera will be right where you have left it when you go back to it in the morning.
Nice camo design that causes the camera to be unseen and that is really cool, the only downside to the camera and I can’t think for the life of me why they have done this is it is not rechargeable!!! I mean the way batteries are these days it would make total sense for this to be rechargeable with an in-built battery pack but instead, you must insert your own batteries.
If it was not for the battery power thing this would of easy been a five star bit of kit but as it is it only gets 4.
This is a very good wildlife camera. It’s very easy to use and has a very simple to navigate menu. I have been using this with some rechargeable batteries and get plenty of use out of them.
The image quality is really very good in both day and night time.
It seems well made and is waterproof so you can leave it out in all weathers.
Me and my kids are having a lot of fun watching hedgehogs with this.
The image quality is superb and the design is very sturdy.
The motion detection is on-point.
An all round excellent camera.
Very happy.
Great value.
It works great but not super impressed with video quality. I mean its definitely not bad but nothing special ether.
Came nicely packaged. Design looks cool and can hide it easily in the woods.
Very easy to use
Camera it self feels good quality.
There seems to be a surge recently on these types of wildlife cameras, perhaps due to the uptake in interest from all the David Attenborough documentaries, which can be rather addictive and with a wildlife camera you can document your own little back garden jungle. Not going to go through all the features as the majority are well documented on Amazon’s listing, so I’ll cover the main ones.
The GardePro provides very good video and picture quality in all weathers both day and night thanks to the weatherproof rating and with the ability to tweak your settings. There are three main capture modes of photo, video and photo/video, each of which can be drilled down with additional settings such as the number of photo bursts (1-3 images) when something is detected and/or the video capture for day or night events (ranging from 1-5min). The maximum photo resolution is 32mp and video is 1080p. Motion sensitivity, which covers up to 100ft works as expected but be careful of surrounding items such as grass or branches as this can cause some false detections.
The unit has a camouflage colouring which helps it blend into the scenery with correct placement and includes an adjustable strap (40cm diameter) to secure to medium sized trees, fences or gates. There is also the option to secure to tripods that use a standard 1/4 screw thread. You also have a built in LCD panel for reviewing photos, video or for getting your placement correct.
The camera can be powered by either by x8 AA batteries (not included) or a 12v DC mains adapter (not included either). The usage on battery is quite impressive, had it running on/off for 6-7 day’s and night’s with just enough battery power left after bringing it back in the house to check the number of captures. During this time period it managed to record 600 events in a mixture of 3 burst photos and 3 to 5 minute video captures, so impressive but make sure you invest in a set of rechargeable batteries.
Overall a fun piece of kit to mess with but bear in mind you will need to have a decent of rechargeable batteries to hand and a good quality SD card for capturing any footage.
The camera is pretty impressive and the number of menus and settings is amazing. The manual is very good and easy to follow.
My garden is a jungle. I get foxes, badgers and deer ( I have seen them all )in it so having a wild life camera seemed a good idea.
At first I set it up where the bird water is as I have photos of a badger drinking there and a deer cropping the hedge.
Unfortunately I only got a wood pigeon in the water tray and taking off. but reasonable shots. In the end I mounted the camera on the outside of me bedroom window looking into the lane.
I got some pictures of an early morning walker but even though the camera was set on the highest quality the pictures taken at some 20 feet away did not produce sharp pictures.I have show the complete picture and a cropped portion of the same picture.
The quality of the pigeon in the bird water was also pretty poor and that was at about 8 to 10 feet away.
I do have another use for this camera where the ability to plug in a 12 volt battery and to prevent it taking pictures in the dark hours will be very useful as it will be set to run for up to a week at a time.
Had this thing a while now and we love seeing all the animals that stalk the neighborhood at night.
Pros: UI is very good, the little preview screen works great
– easy setup
– ran a long time on one set of batteries
– decent range and detection
– tons of fun
Cons: middling photo quality. it might produce 24mp photos but the sensor is definitely not 24mp they just blow up the photos for marketing purposes. -1 star for that. as for the quality of the pics closer to native resolution: not bad, not great. good enough for fun but don’t expect to be making postcards or wall prints from your captures.
sometimes slow to start capturing: even with no delay and no photos I would get a lot of animal butts. we found the video quality to be just as good as the photos (if not better) so I turned off photos hoping to get video to start sooner but ended up missing even more. Seems to work best with a single capture then video.
Overall: works great for the price, It would definitely be 4 star if they were just honest about the actual sensor size.
This camera is quite solidly well built and has a decent capture range.
Captures pretty good videos and photos but it’s going to be a nuisance having to keep buying batteries if it’s being used long term and it’s not inexpensive buying a sd card(which you would expect to be included)
Price would be good if you could recharge and save a lot on batteries but other than that worth a look for wildlife enthusiasts.
There are plenty of this type of gadget around, mostly quite good. This one is excellent, way better features than most, and exceptionally good performance.
Sensitivity, and setting parameters are superb. One of the best features is that you can set the operational time period, which is perfect for my use, since I want it for night-time motion detection / recording etc in my produce garden (where I have a greenhouse, fruit trees, a number of raised beds etc. I don’t want to be constantly taking images during the day when I’m out there. There is only a single mode though, so you can’t set to come o for more than one time period, but that’s no issue.
Time / Date settings are all easy to configure, the on screen menu is straightforward and intuitive. As noted, there are a wide variance of settings, including time-lapse duration, PIR sensitivity, recording duration, snapshot frames, in fact way too many to list, yet really easy to set!
Power requirement is 8 x AA batteries (not included). I’ve found they do last quite a while, especially if time profiled, but in any event, I use rechargeable batteries, which makes most sense. You can connect to a 12V PSU as an alternative, but that’s of little use / value for external use! There is a decent strap for attaching to a tree, plus a tripod mount as well (again, not overly useful for external use).
The device can accommodate an SD card (not Micro, so make sure you have an adapter if necessary) up to 512Gb, but you can also set the card to loop record (so when full just overwrites the oldest recording first. This records H.264 (compression type), 1080P / 1296P, and the images are crisp and clear, monochrome at night (I.R.).
All in all, this is way better than most similar, and my previous Trail Camera that I’ve used for some time. Cracking product, rugged and robust, IP66 — all good. You can connect to PC via included USB cable for off-loading images / recording, but I find it easier to leave the camera in situ, and remove the SD card, and connect that way. Good quality and value. Recommended.
The mobile APP can see it in real time, and the mobile APP can see it directly. The picture quality is very high, but the accessories are not available, so you need to buy the battery and memory card by yourself.
I was a bit daunted at first but was then surprised at how easy it was to insert the sd card and batteries. I usually use an iPad to take ordinary photos and so I am not used to putting a memory card in, but it is easy! So pleased about that. The card and the eight recommended lithium energiser batteries cost almost 30 at our local shop, 16 for the batteries and 13 for the sd card, so it is not cheap to set up but it actually works well. So far we have only seen a hedgehog and a mouse and an early blackbird, but it is early days yet and we hope to see more. The camera seems well made, the instructions are fine and it would make an ideal gift for any nature lover. Four stars because the cost of setting it up is quite expensive, but otherwise it is really good.
This item arrived neatly tucked into a box and included the wildlife trail camera, a mounting strap, a mini-USB cord for transferring the photographs and video clips and the instructions manual.
It requires an SD card as none is supplied and takes 8 AA batteries as this unit doesn’t have a built-in rechargeable battery.
The wildlife camera is fairly easy to set up and use, it’s a 32 megapixels camera and records video at 1080p or 1296p with a clear night vision range of up to 100ft, long 90ft motion detection distance and ultra-fast 0.1s motion activated. The camera supports up to 512GB standard SD card.
Overall, I’ve found it to be a good quality wildlife camera that’s easy to use but it’s a shame it doesn’t have built-in rechargeable batteries which would make the device easier to work with instead of having to replace batteries all the time.
This is a better one than my old one picture quality is a lot better. The battery compartment is better also in side rather than underneath so you have to drop them in, I always had batteries that would get stuck but not with this one the door comes off and you just clip the batteries in 8 of them though quite a lot but you want it to last a long time. Quite expensive at 75 when I’ve seen them a little cheaper same spec so for this price I would expect to see an SD card included. 4 stars only because no SD card included.
So this is a “wildlife'” camera, The idea being that you strap it to a tree, post, fence etc and it discreetly and silently takes photographs and video recordings of anything that activates the motion detector during the night. Now if you have a garden that is regularly frequented by foxes or badges clearly this item is going to appeal, but for the rest of us this camera is less attractive. If you are lucky enough to live near some woods or park, you could still secure it in a discreet place and collect it in the morning, and just hope that no-one has found it and nicked it! There is a clasp on the camera casing so you can padlock is shut if you desire to deter would be thieves.
Image quality is very good, and operation is relatively straightforward once you get the hang of it, I’m just slightly disappointed by two things: I think it’s a bit mean of the manufacturers not to include an SD card. At 75 I think they could’ve thrown a Card in? I’ve bought children’s toys that have included SD cards! Also eight batteries – ouch! OK, you can use rechargeable ones to reduce the operating costs if you wish, but I would’ve liked it if the manufacturers had built-in some USB rechargeable battery pack.
I do like this item, but I think the target audience is limited. Unless you know for a fact you have family of hedgehogs visiting your garden every night there is little appeal to anyone else, but if you live in rural or country area you will get a lot out of this. The overalled build quality is very solid and it is undoubtedly a nice bit of kit.
It’s a good design and tactical too. The camera isn’t the high grade type but it shows enough. The part I don’t like is the fact it didn’t come with a battery and sd card too.
I was pleasantly surprised at the clarity of the image in low light. The lense really opens up and allows more light in, giving the picture a lot more detail. Bit annoyed that you need x8 AA batteries for it though, and would expect it to be rechargeable for the price. A minor issue, and still a good wildlife camera.
The camera looks good, solid, and easy to use. But it wasn’t able to recognize SD card that I bought. Each time I was Formating the SD card from the menu, it was recognizing it and then I pressed “Start” to start monitoring, and the camera went Off. Re-running camera – not able to read the SD.
I used a new miniSD with 2 different adapters (to SD) that work perfectly with other devices, and used 2 additional SD cards that also work for others. No luck – same problem each time.
Returning and replacing with the same camera – hoping it a problem of a single camera. will update feedback,
— update—
Sent the camera back, next day got the new one as replacement. Tested at home – works ok, recording movements. Will test at property and will add more feedback
Great camera! I’m truly impressed with the battery life on this product, still on the original set of Duracell batteries. (Obviously, the settings you use will affect how long the batteries last). I put this up in late September 2021, checked it at the end of October and didn’t get back to it until April 2022. I figured the batteries would have been dead and corroded, killing the camera like so many other consumer electronics I’ve owned. I was amazed to discover that it was still alive and well, only one bar less on the battery indicator, and over 2600 photos on the memory card.
I’m happy with the photos this thing takes, too. There may be some that get a little blurry if the wildlife are moving quickly, and some photos were sadly obscured by fog on the lens (see my last photo), which can happen with any camera based on the weather. This camera has not shown any moisture intrusion and most photos are crystal clear.
Highly recommend this product, and I may order another one to replace some of my slightly older and cheaper cameras which are starting to have issues.
Great camera for the price. I’ve had it out for 14-18 days or so and batteries still full (or so display says) and it was still taking pics when I took it down. I have motion at medium, side motion off and taking only pics, 3 in succession and 10 delay. Night vision works great, perhaps 10′ motion detection and ability for infared to clearly show what you are looking at. Day motion is much further and quality is high. Perhaps 40′ and motion is detected IF the object is big enough (adult, large animal). So far happy with purchase.
Really enjoy this camera. We often see signs of deer in our backyard but with this camera we’ve been able to enjoy them morning and night. Great quality for the price and easy to use. Works really well but, as others have said, I’ve been experiencing videos with no activity. For example, it will take a 20 second video of a deer walking by but then I’ll have 5 – 10 more videos of empty frames. Still, it’s easy enough to delete, but giving it a 4 star for that inconvenience. Otherwise, it’s been lots of fun. Even caught sight of a buck chasing a doe!
I’ve had this camera for some time now; within the first week, I noticed it needed a firmware update, so I did that and it fixed a couple of issues that the camera had. One issue I do NOT like is that every time you swap out the batteries, you have to go through the setup menu to make sure your previous settings didn’t somehow get set back to whatever the default was. Things like date/time/operation hours, you know, the important stuff. Also, I sometimes get video that appears “misty” or foggy, but then I check the camera and the only condensation seems to be in the IR sensor areas, then today I noticed again more foggy video and we didn’t have any fog/rain/condensation so I checked the camera, and yes, there was definitely condensation behind the main camera sensor glass. I had to open the main camera side (Not the side with the batteries) and the only thing initially accessible was the glass for the camera lens, so I took a lens cloth and cleared the moisture. I thought these cameras were “WxProof” and would not get that condensation. Anyhow, I was not able to get at the glass behind the IR lights without further disassembling the inner camera parts, so I’m just letting it sit in the house at low humidity to maybe get that to go away. I understand how science works with the weather and moisture conditions, but this kind of disappointed me in a lot of ways.
very good picture but camera is very powerful and sensitivity take a while to learn to manage. High sensitivity setting makes learning camera take a while. After I shut off the side sensitivity and set to low rating and camera works fine, With higher sensitivity setting I was getting 4 or 5 picture per minute from wind movement. It took several changes to figure out proper sensitivity setting for me but I am buying two more cameras . For the cost these are excellent cameras I hope they hold up, the casing, mechanicals and battery compartment seem of equal quality to my Moultrie cameras which take good quality picture’s but have had only a couple year life cycle. That’s why I am trying something else. I like cameras so far.
This is the third GardePro camera that I’ve purchased, all show good quality construction and navigation and use are quite simple. The first was the E6 camera with Bluetooth/Wi-Fi which performed well at connecting from a distance of up to 100ft. in an open field. However the range of the infrared flash for night pictures/videos was less than I needed for my particular situation, in my opinion this was due mainly to the slower lens and very wide angle of coverage, it did perform well for daytime use. I kept the camera for use monitoring a bluebird nesting box during the day since the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi enabled me to stay out of the area for retrieving photos. Next I tried the E5 model which completely filled my needs for nighttime monitoring, the faster lens gave better results in distance and illumination so I ordered a second one. The infrared flash on my second camera stopped working however after about ten days, l was getting videos with sound but a black screen, this camera was replaced within 48 hours with no problems. Overall the GardePro cameras performed well, the E6 with its wide angle view is best suited for confined areas where camera to subject distance is about 35 ft or less for good nighttime pics, daytime no problems and the Bluetooth/ Wi-Fi works fine. The E5. with its faster lens has a much better range for nighttime easily over 50 ft. but slightly narrower field, but at that distance it is comparable. An E5 with Bluetooth/Wi-Fi for me would be the perfect camera. Video shows Goldfinches 30″ from camera
Motion detection is great. It even caught a mouse at night. Night vision is very even across the whole screen, as opposed to the spotlight effect you get in other cameras. It is not terribly sharp from a distance on smaller animals at night, though. Sound is good as far as trail cameras go. Interface works nicely. Build quality and gasket quality is excellent.
Overall I think it is awesome. I would not waste your time with the ~$30 walmart cameras. Going to this one is a massive upgrade for not that much more money.
Here are my only nitpicks:
-Like so many cameras, the lcd screen swings open, and you can’t get a view of what the camera will look at when you close the camera.Holding your cell phone alongside the camera will give you an idea.
-The “1296” resolution video is choppy. Recommend sticking to 1080.
I ordered and received my GardePro E5 camera in 3 days. I have had the camera in operation about 4 days and, so far, I am very pleased with its operation. Unfortunately, I have very little animal activity at this time. However, I have had a little wind activity that has caused the trees to rustle, setting off the motion detector, thus taking photos. I believe the photo quality is excellent, sharp and clear, both day time standard photos and night IR photos. I believe you can see that in the photos. The night IR photos even pick up and show star movement.
The users manual is very well written, clearly worded and straight forward. Customer Support is also excellent. I have made two inquiries to C/S to see if there is a registration process for initializing the camera warranty (NO) and to see if they had a .pdf copy of the E5 camera manual to download as a back-up in case my original manual got lost or damaged (YES). Both of my inquiries were responded to within 24 hours and they did email me with a .pdf back-up file of the manual.
This is my first “Trail” type camera and I am very satisfied with my choice, both for the operation of the camera and for the support of the GardePro product. A friend recommended this camera to me and I, in turn, would recommend it to anyone interested in getting started with a Trail Camera.
We purchased two GardePro E5 Trail Cameras, about a month apart. One camera is GREAT, and the other is INCONSISTENT! We leave them on our property for a week at a time, and check the SD cards on the weekends. The GREAT camera picks up motion near & far, the sound is really good, daytime photo & video quality is sharp, night vision photo & video quality is good but not super clear. The second INCONSISTENT camera, which we have set up about 50 feet away, does not detect motion as accurately. For example, a fox will be captured on the GREAT camera and we can see it walk right past the INCONSISTENT camera but when I check, the INCONSISTENT camera never detected the fox. The GREAT camera usually has about 150 pics/videos saved. The INCONSISTENT camera always has about 20 pics/videos saved and only on the first or second day we put it up, then it totally stops working. It’s really frustrating because we know without a doubt the INCONSISTENT camera is missing some really great shots. Both cameras have been up for a few months and taken hundreds of photos & videos, and we are still using the original set of batteries!! We use Energizer Max Alkaline Batteries. We also use SanDisk 128 GB cards and have never run out of space. I am including a daytime photo, a night photo, and video.
