This is a fab hair dryer. Has made such a difference to my hair – much less frizz than my previous hair dryer. It’s all about the nozzle – much narrower so heat is targeted better. Well worth the money.
This hairdryer arrives in a very nice looking, GHD branded box, that would be more than suitable should you be wishing to give it as a gift. Inside the box is the hairdryer, contoured nozzle, velvet protective bag and instruction manual.
The hairdryer itself is very well made and has a good finish throughout. The contoured design is very elegant. I must admit I was concerned that the champagne gold colour scheme might be a little garish, but in real life it looks really nice.
The dryer is fairly compact, and whilst not as light as some cheaper hairdryers, it is by no means heavy either. Best of all it feels well balanced in the hand whilst using it, and the controls are comfortable to use.
In use the hairdryer worked really well. The combination of powerful air flow with the heat meant it dries your hair exceptionally quickly. Having used a Dyson Supersonic before, we found it to rival it in terms of drying speed. In some circumstances it was slightly faster, and in other slightly slower. The advertised “ionic technology” also did a really good of reducing frizz. And in terms of noise, this is one of the quietest, if not the quietest, dryer we have ever used.
The only slight negative we have with this dryer is that the cold shot button, which whilst useful, does take a few seconds to lower to the right temperature. Also, given the price, we can’t help feeling that it is disappointing that no accessories were included. GHD do sell them separately, but given it’s currently (March 2023) 27.99 for the diffuser attachment; 19.95 for the wide styling nozzle, and 24.99 for the comb attachment, they don’t come cheap.
In conclusion, this is a well made, nice looking hairdryer, that does an exceptionally good job of both drying your hair and minimising frizz, whilst remaining comfortable to handle and quiet. As a product it is 5 stars worthy. So why do I give it only four stars?
Well, firstly you can pick up the standard (non-Limited Edition) ghd Helios for 20 less. Whether the Champagne Gold styling and included velvet bag is worth that extra 20 will obviously be down to individual taste. Certainly, if you are giving it as a gift, this Limited Edition Model does have a much more luxurious presentation and feel to it. But for many, it won’t be worth that extra cost, when you can get exactly the same dryer for less. Also, given the price, the lack of any accessories (especially a diffuser), is disappointing. So whilst I do recommend this hairdryer, some might do better saving that 20, getting the standard model, and (should they need it) using the money saved to purchase an attachment instead.

I have been using the GHD Helios for over three week now, and have found it to be an impressive hairdryer. The settings are also easy to switch between without having to stop and double check. The Helios is lighter than my previous GHD hairdryer, is more powerful, and noticeably quieter. This dryer is a dream, the hot setting doesn’t burn my hair but is plenty warm enough to dry my hair quickly. It has a good airflow output and so tames flyaways and leaves my hair feeling smooth and shiny. The dryer itself is fairly light and comfortable to hold.
Well, this hairdryer is certainly great at its job – it dries hair fast and definitely leaves it in a more manageable condition than other hairdryers I’ve used – but none of those have cost any more than about 30. The question is whether this is really worth the massive outlay – 200 is a more inconsiderable investment, and in these times of belt tightening will be unaffordable for a lot of people, me included – I was fortunate to get a review model. As my previous experience with hairdryers is purely at the cheaper end of the market, I don’t know if there are models in the interim price range that will do as good a job – possibly, possibly not. For me, this is a luxury item and although it does a good job I don’t think the price is justifiable. If you’ve got a spare 200, consider other, more humanitarian options for your money. However, if you really must have it, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
Oh, and it’s beautifully presented, too.

It’s well made and comfortable to hold, not too heavy that my arm gets tired half way through drying. The design is very sleek and modern too, very stylish on my table especially in its gorgeous champagne colour which looks very lavish.
The main thing that blew me away, literally, was its performance. It has an incredibly powerful airflow which dries my hair fast. My hairs usually quite curly and frizzy but after drying with this my frizz was noticeably reduces and my hair looked a lot healthier and felt smoother.
It as a variety of heat and speed settings, so I can customise it to my hair type and styling needs. I’ve found that middle speed and middle heat works best for me and still dries effortlessly, allowing me to keep my hair staying healthy and minimise damage.
Overall, I am extremely impressed with this GHD hairdryer and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a hairdryer that can handle even the thickest and curliest of hair.

My husband got me this hair dryer and at first I was skeptical as the price is pretty steep for a regular blow dryer that doesn’t have any additional attachments like Dyson wrap does.
I used it to dry my hair without anticipating a yrhinf miraculous from this blow dryer but omg did it dry my hair in to time?
I didn’t realize it until I dried my daughter’s hair.. it usually takes 10 minutes of just blowing her wet hair with my regular hair dryer from one side to another without really drying them. But this blow dryer cuts drying time to at least half. I love it. Also I didn’t notice that my hair was static like it usually is. So fat I have no complaints and will keep using it.
This is not just a fine looking hair dryer it also dries your hair quicker, which saves on the electricity bills a little, which is what we need these days.
It has speed settings and heat settings, all controlled by easy to reach buttons on the rear of the handle. There’s also a cooling feature which is a single button on the front of the handle.

I can’t really rave about a hairdryer – it’s just a hairdryer – but this is gorgeous. It looks beautiful, is lovely to hold and even has a red velvet wash bag with it. It’s a champagne gold colour, as is the box. It’s way more expensive than I would buy for myself, but I adore it. It’s very fast and dries hair beautifully. OK, so I’m raving about it, but it’s great.
Comes in a lovely box – and a lovely posh red storage bag.
Obviously had to test this as soon as it came so had to wash my hair.
Didn’t feel it was a fair test really – as we all have fairly fine hair I’m our house. Altho it does seem to dry hair quicker, it wasn’t loads quicker, as fine hair doesn’t take long to dry.
Hair does feel smoother and less static with this drier – hard to explain, but doesn’t look as bitty.
My friend borrowed it – to test on her daughters long thick hair. She was eager to test it. Usually takes her 20/25 minutes to dry her hair, she had her daughter time it and only took 6 minutes, and her arm wasn’t dropping off. To fully dry it, she was amazed. So she gives it 11 out of 10 and is now planning on investing in one.

The hairdryer comes in a presentation box, the dryer has an extra long 3M cable, and there is a loop on the handle to hang the dryer up when not in use.
It would have been nice if the switches were illuminated when used, so that you can see them in dimmed light, also some more attachments would have been handy, like a diffuser etc, especially as this is supposedly a professional dryer.
The dryer comes with a beautiful red storage bag, with a gold metal zip. It also comes with a user booklet with easy to follow instructions.
The air inlet filter vent cover can be removed, and the filter rinsed or brushed for easy cleaning.
Other than that, it’s a hairdryer, it doesn’t seem to dry my hair any faster than my current dryer, but comes with a hefty price tag, I only hope this means it’s longer lasting.

I brought this for my wife as a gift, after looking for several hair dryers, including the Dyson, this came out on top and for the price at the time, it wasn’t too expensive. My wife loves it, she doesn’t think its heavy and it certainly drys her hair quicker than her old hair dryer, it’s also much quieter than her older one, so in the early hours its doesn’t wake the household.
Game-changer! I have really thick hair that takes 15 minutes to dry, this has cut it down to 4 minutes! I’m delighted. I spent a long time deliberating on whether to spend so much money on a hairdryer and read all the reviews on here & decided to go for it in the Black Friday sale. So glad I did! in a way i think my 10 year old 30 revelon was as good, this only cut a few minutes off drying time and adds more work as i need to constantly brush to avoid knotting, unlike with the old dryer.
Sounds mad but I knew I was onto something just by seeing the box which is very high quality. Once I delved inside I was even more excited. I ordered the black version and the matte finish with chrome accents screamed professional.
One use was all it took to ensure I was keeping it. It’s not the lightest nor quietest hairdryer I’ve ever had but that’s more than made up for in it’s performance. I have fine platinum blonde hair which can be difficult to tame due to flyaways and frizz. This hairdryer not only dried my hair in record time but also left it far smoother and shinier than I’ve ever managed to achieve without straighteners. A quick run over with my GHD straightners after and the result was just as good as any I’ve had coming out of the salon.
This hairdryer is the ultimate example of getting what you pay for and I can confidently say I will never go cheaper again.
The only potential drawback is the amount of heat thrown out by the unit. It gets hot, really hot and it’s easy to burn your scalp if you don’t have your wits about you.
