Bought this as a replacement for a monitor that arrived broken. It was a little more expensive but the build quality is SO much better. It is also 1ms as opposed to the 4ms of the other brand. So in the end I’m glad the other arrived broken even tho it ment a disappointment on Christmas Day for my son he now has a better quality monitor than I initially ordered.. the other brand was a koorui

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI purchased this monitor (34″ ultrawide version) for my racing simulator replacing a 60hz fixed refresh screen and am more than happy given that it is a relatively budget option.

It is worth mentioning that there were no issues whatsoever in pairing it with a Nvidia GPU and getting G-sync running. Also impressed with the picture with no noticable ghosting while playing games.

I originally got this monitor to replace a 1080p 60hz monitor after a new PC build and it’s honestly perfect. The USB ports on the back are so useful for me as someone who uses mainly wired peripherals.

A lot of people complain about the brightness on this monitor but I haven’t seen an issue with it (though I usually use it in the evening after work.) People also complain about the blacks being more of a gray due to low contrast, I haven’t found this to be an issue and the back-light actually seems to help quite a lot.

Upgrading from a 21 inch monitor I was quite overwhelmed when I first turned this thing on but I’ve gotten used to it and it’s more comfortable for both gaming at my desk and watching youtube from my bed.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersCan’t complain about the monitor’s basics, it’s 1440p, 144hz the image quality is okay, plenty bright, the contrast is not the best, but pretty much what you’d expect at this price point. (Recommended settings at the bottom)

-1 star for the menu, it’s confusing as hell. What’s the difference between “Gaming, Standard, Native and HP Enhance+”? I can see the color change, but while Native has the best colors to my eye, it has horrific ghosting and HP Enhance+ is terrible for text, so clearly it’s not just colors. Response times have “Levels”, whatever that means. Also, after some digging, it turns out that only “Native” has the fully advertised 93% DCI-P3 color range, it was sheer luch I even found that. HP is making it as hard as possible to get the full utility of this monitor. I also wouldn’t bother with their software, it’s very heavy on resources.

-1 star for atrocious HDR. If you use Windows 11 and enable HDR, it’s a way to knee-cap yourself for several reasons:
    1. Videos will suddenly have auto-brightness based on the content, it’s extremely distracting. There’s no way to turn it off (none that I could find)
    2. It disables most of the settings in the monitor menu, but if you play around you can clearly see that they have an effect, e.g. setting the color profile to native will still have horrible gosting, it’s a huge pain in the butt to go back and forth with windows and the monitor.
    3. Setting the HDR brightness to 5-15% will make it flicker like crazy.
    4. You will only be able to adjust the brightness through Windows.

Some third-party reviews say that this and similar HP monitors lack proper hardware for HDR, hence why it’s so awful, so they pretty much just forced it in for marketing and key word searches, boo!

Besides that, if you ignore HDR and take some time to set it up properly, it’s actually a really good monitor, +1 star.

    Recommended settings:
DO NOT USE HDR WITH THIS MONITOR
“Native” color profile. (Only color setting with full color of this panel)
“Level 4” response time (gets rid of the horrible ghosting)
    “Level 6” sharpness
    100% contrast.
Brightness to your taste, I usually have it at 15% at night and around 40% during the day.
    Leave everything else as is.

This is my first 4k monitor to match my 4K PC that I have recently built. I have to say from 1080p to 4k is a huge difference and you can 100% notice straight away. The price isn’t horrendous but I’m really not sure what other 4K monitor to compare it to. All I will say is that it’s a slightly too dark. Makes great for playing some spooky games! All in all very happy with the purchase l!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis HP Omen 27q isn’t the market leader, but for around 250, it’s a real bargain and worthy of 5 stars. You get a 27-inch, 1440p IPS screen with a 165Hz refresh rate, and yes, it delivers—just make sure to switch to “Native Mode” to unlock its superb 93% DCI-P3 colour coverage. Don’t bother with the HDR; it’s lackluster and restricts your colour options (Native mode is definately bright enough!). DO NOT USE THE DEFAULT SETTING ON THE SCREEN – It is dim and the colours are nowhere near as vibrant, I repeat, use “Native mode” and then you can ignore all the reviews here saying the screen is too dark.

I’ve used this monitor for competitive gaming on my 3080ti, as well as for design work, thanks to its excellent colour range and well-calibrated settings (in Native Mode).

    Positives:
    * Unbeatable at this price point
    * 165Hz with FreeSync (G-sync compatible as well)
    * Superb 93% DCI-P3 colour coverage
    * Tilt it and/or rotate it (all the way around)
    * Zero ghosting
    * Vesa Mountable, at this price going multi-monitor is a no brainer!

    Negatives:
    * The HP Omen Gaming Hub auto-installs without notification, which is not cool (only via DisplayPort)
    * HDR is disappointing, but the fantastic colour gamut makes up for it, in my opinion
    * No USB hub at the back which I know is a small thing, but I really miss from my last monito

I didn’t realise this didn’t come with speakers, however they make it really easy to add a soundbar/speakers to use with this. Actually the entire monitor setup process is just easy from the get go, alan key is provided for the stand so assembly literally takes 5 minutes.

Response time and picture quality is also really good and the Monitor installs Omen gaming hub on laptop/pc automatically so you can tweak the settings/lighting and set up various profiles, you don’t really need this though and it isn’t mandatory to keep it installed. 1440p seems to work well, setting the response time to the fastest setting will harm picture quality though.

Works really well with the PS5, Series s too. Settings are easy to navigate through and it’s easy to do everything at the push of a button.

Overall despite my own lack of research on monitors, the speaker thing didn’t bother me too much as i always have a headset on anyway, but if you want to watch stuff i highly recommend you have a soundbar on hand or your own speakers, there’s plenty of USB ports and a Display/HDMI port so you should be fine.

No issues so far and it’s actually been refreshing switching from an old 1080p tv to this. 🙂

Love this monitor, as a gamer picking a monitor was quite a difficult task, however this had everything I needed and more, gsync to work with my gpu it even has additional extras such as the option to turn on a centre screen reticle.

Purchased this product on Black Friday of 2020 and I have to say it’s worked perfectly since then!

The Monitor is built fully out of metal and the frame is very sturdy, it lives up to expectations with capabilities for 165hz gaming as promised.

The 27i comes with several customisation options, including interchangeable crosshairs (which I personally didn’t use but was a nice touch), moreover, you can change the colours and picture details which is a great touch.

The price was initially steep to me, however, the quality has lasted over time and I have had no ‘black spots’ or ‘dead pixels’ unlike many other monitors I’ve invested in.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our Users(Update 16/3/22)
I have now had this monitor for slightly over 1 year without any problems what so ever and am so glad I bought it and to be honest, if you are not playing e-sports games that require or helps to have over 300hz you should never need a refresh rate higher as these new AAA are getting harder and harder to run and they average around 80-120fps if you have a good video card.

I’m going to try to review this HP Omen 27i monitor.

First off I just didn’t point at a list of monitors, close my eyes and pick one. I trawled through months of reviews and videos and believe me it’s a minefield out there and if you’re reading this review then you will have realised this by now and I am no monitor expert believe me. I found myself having a lower end budget yet going higher all the time and as far as I could see, there IS NO perfect monitor at that perfect price with all the bells and whistles. I just needed a good monitor for work “Photoshop” and play.

Secondly the monitor came fast and without a mark on the outer box via DPD via Amazon which was always nice to see.
The Monitor itself was a breeze to setup and get all the functions you like.

Now what I will tell you is that I have come from a Dell 3440 X 1440 monitor with 60hz. I have heard so much about these 144hz+ monitors and that the difference is like night and day and oh yes my god is it smooth with the 165hz but my god its smaller that my old one. The real reason for this upgrade was, I was going to get a new series Amd 6800XT and as of writing this review, well that has gone out the window “25/2/21”. So I decided to upgrade the monitor instead and leave the card until the 7800XT “2022” arrives.
Now this new monitor is smaller but man does it pack a punch! Plus I think I was lucky with zero dead/stuck pixels and zero backlight bleed. Also as an added bonus, I have added another 10fps from coming from 3440 X 1440 to 2560 X 1440 as the video card doesn’t have to work so hard playing AAA games.
Also the first thing I did was set it to STANDARD MODE and do a FULL CALIBRATION if you have a DataColor Spyder product. This monitor is great if you are an amateur or Semi Pro Photographer or indeed a Video Editor in my opinion as it has a decent colour spectrum.
It has all the ports at the back you will ever need and the light below the front bezel is great as it allows me to see my Sound Dac.
There are cheaper alternatives out there and cheaper but it all depends on you but I would honestly look at all YouTube reviews about all monitors in your sights.
I am very happy with my choice and can’t fault it yet but if this changes I will update this post.
Good Luck & I hope my review helps you if you had the patience to read to the end.

Did I Upgrade Or Did I Downgrade

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our Userswhen the monitor was cold in the left-hand corner I noticed a dead pixel then next day 2 appeared but when the monitor had been on for about 10 minutes or so they would go never had this problem with a new monitor before but just thought I would say I did ask for a replacement but amazons automated computer said no let’s hope I don’t have to wait weeks to get a refund so I can get my streaming computer up and running

update after computer said no I phoned Amazon the next day and asked why and the nice lady said let me have a look then said oh you bought when it was reduced to 399 I said yes but I only wanted a replacement as the monitor was very good and said I also bought the 27x 240hz at the same time she said ok no problem I will send a replacement as you have sent the defective monitor back so amazon thank you for an A1 service very happy now
