Hyundai 40V 14'' Lithium-Ion Battery Powered

I wanted a decent size of chainsaw and also a battery one as I’ve no power to where I planned to use it and didn’t want a petrol one so this seemed to fit the bill. Excellent delivery by Amazon to their collection point though there was a small issue as the guys there weren’t completely conversant with the system and Amazon thought I hadn’t collected it even though it showed in my account as having been collected. Consequently they told me I could no longer pick it up and they would refund me! Managed to sort that out. Then the battery which came with the saw was faulty and wouldn’t charge! I contacted Hyundai’s support team direct and they were really efficient and after sending them the necessary confirmations of purchase and battery not charging (by way of a very short video) they arranged to send me a new battery. They were let down by Royal Mail taking 5 days to deliver under their 2 day scheme! Eventually all sorted. Note that the saw doesn’t come with any oil so you will need to buy this separately to keep wear to the chain and bar down. I inadvertently moved the kickback safety bar to the “off” position and then wondered why I couldn’t get the saw to work! I twigged what I’d done eventually and since then it’s been plain sailing. The saw seems pretty sturdy and the battery seems to last quite well. I didn’t time it specifically but think it lasted for around half an hour whilst cutting up a load of logs. And the recharge time from fully empty to full took about an hour or so. Again I didn’t time it specifically. The manual states there are arrows on the cover to indicate the rotation since you need to put the chain on the right way but mine didn’t have these, only arrows to show how to tighten and slacken the cover and bar clamping nut. It rotates clockwise when looking at the saw with it on its side and the bar uppermost. They also state there is a catch to undo to remove the battery from the charger which is not correct as you simply pull it free. I mentioned these to Hyundai support so future editions might be amended. I had rather hoped that being a Hyundai product it might be made in Korea but no, it’s made in China! Overall very happy with the performance once the initial glitches were overcome. I would also suggest it’s a good idea to get the connected safety clothing, such as gloves and trousers, just in case something goes wrong. You definitely want to keep all your limbs!
Edit to my previous review – I have found an arrow indicating rotation though it’s not instantly noticeable. It’s on the main body under the removable cover, I guess where it needs to be when you’re fitting the chain. Should have gone to Spec Savers!
