Easy Installation
InSinkErator food waste disposers are designed to be installed to an existing sink in no time at all. There’s a full instruction manual in the box and you can find video guides on the InSinkErator UK YouTube Channel.
To install InSinkErator food waste disposers you need:
- A sink with a 90mm hole (most sinks have these)
- Sufficient space in your cupboard for the product
- 13 amp socket within 600mm of install area

I bought this to replace a very old exising unit that sometime blew the breaker. I got a Plumber to install it.
I didn’t want to drill the sink to fit a air operated switch so I used a TAPO P100 smart Wifi socket so that now I can switsch it on/off with my Alexa. I kept the air switch unit under the sink as an emergency off switch.
Easy to fit and plumb in. Only issue is that you have to hold the button in to get it to work and not press on then press off as my old unit.
This is the 3rd unit I have bought for different applications. They have all performed well, I am not sure what the expensive one do maybe tell jokes and make the tea. For waste disposal it does the job.
I have had this product for a few months now. So here is an honest review.
Likes:
1. Air Switch! You dont have to worry about your hands being wet while operating it.
2. Grind everything well, even chicken bones.
3. Zero food waste in my trash can. So no more smelly bins.
Dislikes
1. Noisier than I expected it to be
2. Installation was not as straight forward as I liked it to be but still for me and am not a plumber was a DYI kind of projec
This got me some serious hubby points off the wife. No more smelly bin, grinds and takes away almost anything you stick down there. I’m a plumbing and heating engineer so it was easy for me to install it, if you’re a confident DIY’r just take your time, if you can’t even use a screwdriver then please get a professional to install it.
It was a good price. Small, compact but efficient. It is easy to use BUT make sure no cutlery or bits of plastic get sucked down whilst it’s on. The unit is tough and sturdy but it can ruin your cutlery!!!
Our old one wore out. This arrived shortly afterwards and fitted into the old gap perfectly. All good.
Amazon service is second to none (Unless the seller has to use Hermes and then it is v.poor = late always) and as usual the product arrived very promptly.
Easy to install and works just fine – exactly as expected. Have recommended this product to a friend and especially if purchased from Amazon.

Relatively easy to install, and been using for 2-3 months, very light usage pushed the air switch today as usual and fell straight through worktop snapped, cannot seem to get in contact with seller?
The speed of delivery, ease of installation along with the quality of the product, made this a very good experience.

The first one I bought locally and it didn’t work so returned it. This one from Amazon has been working fine for a couple of months.
Changed our lives! No more stinky food bins as this neatly disposed of all our food waste (except banana skins) including chicken bones. It’s neat, fits into a standard sink and fairly easy to fit (although heavy). Wish I’d bought one years ago!

My carer did not use the basic model I had previously no air switch. This one does and is now used daily, it is powerful enough to cope with most food waste apart from bones, and apart from industrial models why pay more? The fitting is extremely easy but do not attempt this if your plumbing knowledge is basic DIY because you will end up with a cabinet filled with plumbing as kits are over complicated. I and my carer are happy to use it .
What I love about Insinkertor Waste Disposal units is their standardisation of fittings. This is our third one. The first one was much bigger and we used it for eight years until we moved in 2005 when we had to buy the slimmer one because the big one wouldn’t fit our new kitchen. That original one still works and I gave it to a friend a few weeks ago. All he had to do was buy the sink flange and it works a treat, even now.
The second, slimmer one, gave up the ghost last week and, within two days, I had the replacement in my hands, fresh from Amazon, and at a price very much in the same ball park as the original!
That one was an air-operated version, as is the new one – well worth the money!
Fitting it all took about two hours and I used a series of wooden blocks to prop it up as it slipped up into the new flange in the sink. I renewed the plastic drain pipes and did not replace the air-press button embedded in the worktop because it didn’t need it. I just plugged the existing air pipe into the bottom of the unit.
Well, we’re back in business after just two miserable days of putting food in those little green council bags!

Perfect for most household waste and this variant has the built in air switch which is a must.
Also good for grinding up the bodies of mice the cat keeps bringing in!
My kitchen was replaced, the kitchen company offered one for 4 x the price. We said we would buy our own.
It works great, it is not too noisy and does a great job, we put most things down it apart from bones.
The kitchen fitter said it is actually better quality than the ones they normally fit. Thanks Amazon…
Questa la versione as (air switch) dotata dell’interruttore pneumatico. Il montaggio tutto sommato semplice se si avvezzi al fai da te.
Smaltisce quasi tutto, ad eccezione degli scarti indicati chiaramente nelle istruzioni: verdure filamentose, gusci di ostriche e ossi di bistecca. Fondamentale l’uso continuo dell’acqua fredda fino a almeno quindici secondi dopo lo spegnimento. Questo garantisce la pulizia del dissipatore e delle tubature di scarico, impedendone l’intasamento.
E’ davvero efficace e sparisce da casa la busta con l’umido. Niente pi cattivi odori e l’impegno a portar fuori il sacco con gli scarti alimentari, sempre a rischio rottura.
Unico neo un po’ rumoroso, ma in genere l’operazione dura meno di un minuto.
Una volta fatta l’abitudine all’uso di questo dispositivo non se ne pu far pi a meno.
Lo uso gi da diversi mesi e devo dire che ci ha cambiato la vita.
Il sistema permette di smaltire i rifiuti senza tenerli a puzzare in casa.
facile da montare anche nelle condizioni pi impervie.
C’est mon pouse qui a eu l’ide d’acheter un broyeur d’vier et nous sommes trs satisfait. Il marche trs bien, tout y passe et mme les os de poulet. Je ne mets les noyaux de pche mais les restes d’annas, les pellures d’orange, les pellures de potiron (bien dur) a passe sans souci.
Pour l’installation, c’est trs facile. Je ne suis pas plombier. Il faut juste anticiper quelques changements des tuyaux et acheter le ncessaires le cas chants. Pour ma part pour viter de scier les tuyaux d’vacuation, j’ai opt pour un tuyaux flexible (accodon) pour relier le broyeur au siphon.
Je recommande sans souci.
Received the model 46 on time and well packed. This is a replacement for a model 45 that we have had for several years. I would consider the Insinkerator to be the best waste disposal available, having had various other makes since first installing a waste disposal in1966.
Arrived quickly with all the parts. Can’t award 5 stars because not yet installed. So far so good.
This newer model is almost silent in comparison to the older models, so I can’t see any reason for looking at the model 56 for example.
Onestamente mi aspettavo arrivasse un “giocattolo” in plastica, ma al momento del ritiro del pacco mi sono dovuto ricredere!
Ottima la qualit, ottimo i materiali, e con “un peso specifico” di tutto rispetto, anche l’idraulico che l’ha montato non credeva che il visto di acquisto stato inferiore a 150 euro!!!
Se devo proprio trovare un difetto, posso solo dire che forse, rispetto a prodotti ben pi costosi, un po’ rumoroso, ma ci si pu convivere.
Consigliato e finalmente addio allo scarico della cucina che si intasa un giorno s e l’altro pure!!!
Already well used and only been in 3 days, having the air switch means it is quick and easy to use and the switch blends in the with sink so is easy on the eye.
