Got this as my last razer kraken headphones broke after a few years of use. Got the kraken for console as it was on sale and hopped it worked the same as the original kraken. Works perfectly for PC though! Highly recommend!
Work in her Series X Controller using them on her Xbox One, I only briefly tested them but they sound good, I prefer the sound profile of my WH-XB910N, Worth noting they have no swivel, even at 49.99 that seems a little outrageous, Build quality feels good so hopefully they last.
Bought these for my daughters for Christmas. She loves them and said they are so much better than her last pair, they are definitely noise cancelling as she never hears me when I shout her down for tea I have to go to her room lol
After buying 2 turtle beach headsets that broke in the same place i decided to go for these, looking to avoid headsets with weak stanction supports above the ears these seemed pretty decent and solid, the amplification on these was a great match to turtle beach if not better and hopefully a solid construction aswell but only time will tell but defo worth the price, this was the wired version aswell, looking forward to putting it through the paces, updated review to follow in a few months.
Good sound. Comfortable and easy to use. Quality looks fantastic, even the box they come in. Far better than the Turtle beaches I’ve been using for years. Will stick with Kraken from now on.
I use this with my Xbox Series X connecting to the controller, sound quality is great and allows you to focus in on the game play without the worry of waking up the house.
The over ears are comfortable to wear and it’s pretty much plug and play.
My only minor gripe with it could be that sometimes the weight can be a little off balance and feels like it will slip so you over compensate with a lean.
first of all would just want to say that the bass on these are outstanding! music plays very well!
mic works perfectly! it’s great that you can move/ bend it in any direction you wish.
the quality itself is 10/10. loving the pink/ grey. feels somewhat heavy and expensive. i like how the lights light up whenever you want them to come on!
i recommend this headset – compatible for xbox series x.
noise cancellation 10/10 – cannot hear a thing, not even my self sing which is great.
this is so much better than all of the other head sets i have used and gone through in the past.
definitely worth the money!
Second time I’ve bought this. My first purchase lasted a few months, unfortunately the jack pin snapped due to my own fault through misuse. Second purchase was a couple weeks ago and the quality is great, they’re comfy and the sound quality is amazing, unfortunately they’re rather large (the side earpieces are around 2″ wide) but they are a great purchase when on sale, I got mine for around 40. Mic quality so far is good, no echo, however if it’s too close to your mouth people will hear your breathing unfortunately lol
Bought this on Prime Day for a birthday present and we were very impressed. Really good sound quality, and the quality of the headset itself is of a really high standard. I fact that the headphones have a metal ‘frame’ (not plastic like many others) was a highlight for me!
Still breaking them in but apart from that they’re very comfortable and the foam pads don’t feel like foam but instead jel. The sound is amazing but I haven’t been able to use the mic yet as I prefer offline gaming. The box it came in was very sturdy and had no chance of being destroyed on the way to my house.
This headset is great all round and by far the best I’ve used in terms of sound quality, the retractable mic is a genius design and good for when I just want headphones, the only thing that lets it down, and the reason I can’t give it 5 stars, is the volume wheel, it’s way too loose and easy to adjust by accident.
My favourite part of the headset is the surround sound feature, it makes gaming really immersive and its great for shooter games where you need to listen for footsteps.
The normal sound system is great too, I find the headset really comfortable to wear and even after hours of continuous use it is still good. The RGB on the earphones is a nice extra feature.
Unfortunately the microphone isn’t great but most gaming headsets don’t have the best microphones anyway so its not a decider. I pair the headphones with a separate microphone anyway so it’s no issue
Overall a good headset if you’re looking for something that’s comfortable whilst also having a good sound system.
ot bad for the cost, comfortable to wear for long periods and the mic is good enough. however, the sound quality is honestly not as good as previous razer krakens (i used razer kraken kitty edition v1 before these), ive noticed the bass isnt as good. and when in a call there is occasionally a horrible crackling static noise that i have not experienced with any other headset. but overall not a bad product.
This headset is a game changer, the haptic feedback changes your experience completely. It is also extremely comfortable there are no problems wearing this for long gaming sessions, you can customise the lighting and sound profiles and it’s worth downloading the razor synapse program to compliment these great headphones.Battery life with haptic feedback and lights on is about 12 hours or without about 35 -40.Best headphones I’ve owned ,can’t comment on detachable mic as I haven’t used it yet .
I have been a proud owner of the Razer Kraken X gaming headset for over three years now, and it has been an absolute game-changer in every sense of the word. From its exceptional audio quality to its comfortable design, this headset has remained a steadfast companion throughout countless gaming sessions. As an avid gamer, I cannot help but give this product a well-deserved and candid 5-star review.
One of the standout features of the Razer Kraken X is its 7.1 surround sound software. This technology has undoubtedly elevated my gaming experience, providing me with clear and precise position-dependent sound. Whether I’m engaging in intense battles or sneaking through stealthy missions, the ability to recognize the direction of in-game sounds has proven invaluable. It truly feels like I’m right in the middle of the action, immersed in the virtual world.
Comfort is paramount during long gaming sessions, and the Razer Kraken X delivers in spades. The soft headband padding has effectively reduced pressure on my head, ensuring that I can wear the headset for hours without discomfort or strain. The adjustable headband allows for a perfect fit, preventing any slipping or readjustments during gameplay. Moreover, the lightweight design, weighing in at only 250g, makes the headset almost unnoticeable on my head, which is a blessing during marathon gaming sessions.
The oval ear cushions, made of memory foam, are a testament to Razer’s commitment to comfort. They provide a plush and cozy fit, perfectly molding around my ears to create a noise-isolating experience that enhances my immersion in the gaming world. I can hear even the most subtle audio cues, enhancing my ability to react swiftly to in-game events.
In terms of audio performance, the 40mm custom-tuned drivers in the Razer Kraken X deliver a clear and balanced sound that is second to none. From the thunderous explosions of warfare to the delicate footsteps of stealthy enemies, this headset ensures that every sound detail is captured with impressive clarity. The audio quality remains top-notch even after years of use, proving the durability and consistency of this fantastic gaming gear.
The bendable cardioid microphone is a standout feature of the Razer Kraken X. Its flexibility allows me to position it close to my mouth, ensuring crystal-clear communication with my teammates during multiplayer matches. The microphone effectively filters out background noise, ensuring that my voice comes through loud and clear, making teamwork seamless and effortless.
Over the years, I have put the Razer Kraken X through rigorous gaming sessions, and it has withstood the test of time without losing its impressive performance. The build quality has proven to be robust and reliable, and the headset continues to function flawlessly.
If I were to nitpick, I could mention that the 3.5mm connection might not be as convenient as a wireless option, especially for those who prioritize freedom of movement. However, this is a minor concern compared to the overall excellence of the Razer Kraken X.
In conclusion, the Razer Kraken X has been an unbeatable gaming companion for over three years. Its 7.1 surround sound software, comfortable design, and clear audio performance make it an essential piece of gaming gear. Whether you’re a casual gamer or a hardcore enthusiast, this headset will undoubtedly enhance your gaming experience. If you’re in the market for a reliable, comfortable, and high-performing gaming headset, the Razer Kraken X is an excellent choice that will not disappoint.
Starting with the positives; it’s a good headset in most terms. It comes with a detachable microphone and has a very sleek and modern design. It has extremely good sound output through the ears so you can listen to your media very clearly. It has a couple controls on the headset itself like to mute and turn the volume up and down.
The negatives; the sound input is not very good. When I can my friends they often complain my microphone is too quiet. I’ve played around in volume controls and it seems that the microphone itself is not very good. However, considering the microphone is detachable, I assume you might be able to attach your own microphone to the headset.
This is a great headset and lasted 2 years for my son before the cable stopped working. I’d give it 5 stars if it was easy to buy replacement cables but I cannot find any anywhere (UK). An initial cable issue was “fixed” using a bamboo straw and duck tape and that lasted really well, for over a year. But now the cable has gone again, somewhere else. I’m still trying to fix this and will update if I can but I think I maye have to buy a new headset, which is a shame, because the headset itself is still in good shape.
For the price you can’t go wrong good quality headse
bought these for 35quid and was impressed, lightweight, sound is good not bad. Plug them into a playstation and the sound isn’t as good. not worth 50gbp imo
I’ve had these for two years and the build quality is very solid. They still function perfectly and feel comfortable.
Incredibly comfortable and lightweight, fantastic sound, mic quality is exceptional, , muffs are slightly worn but to be expected. Would recommend!!
I was a bit weary of buying these because I’d never really heard much about Razer headsets. Everyone I knew was always going on about Turtle Beach so I kind of just stuck with them for a number of years. Sadly my last four Turtle Beach headsets all stopped working within a matter of months so I started looking at alternatives… I was immediately attracted to the green Kraken ones because I’ve always loved how green and black go so well together (thank you Original Xbox!) and I’d be lying if I said they weren’t the main reason I bought them!
These Kraken’s have been great! The sound quality is brilliant, the build quality is excellent and did I mention they are GREEN?!?! The only thing I would change if I could was to provide more ventilation around the ears as I find the padding is a bit too thick in the summer resulting in me getting quite warm quite quickly!
1. Great surroundings sound quality very good for gaming.
2. Perfect material containing a wide range of natural design
3. Excellent service when arriving on time, I mean it’s expensive product but definitely worth it
4. I’d recommend buying it again for another device or something else in particular like PC, perhaps a gaming console
These headphones are one of the best purchases I have made. I use these headphones everyday and have had nothing but crystal clear audio and mic quality with them. The setup is easy being no more complicated than plug and play. Razer themselves also have an amazing software to easily control these headphones. In comparison to similar ones on the market they are also significantly cheaper. I would highly recommend these headphones to anyone looking for a new pai
I use them for gaming and streaming on my PS4. I like that the plug is at a 90 degree angle preventing it from getting in the way or bending. The cooling pads are so great and sound quality is also very good for the headphones and the Mic.
Just overall very comfortable to wear for many hours as they cover my entire ears too. I would certainly recommend these.
I love this headset, I have this for my pc so I thought why not get for console gaming as well, like I said I love this headset, I bought the green I would of liked the white or pink but I still love it no matter the colour and the green looks good with the Xbox and PlayStatio
I’ve had this product since November 2022. It’s now March 2023 and the cushioning has started to come away from the headset. At the time it was in the sale for 25 however it’s now at 35+ and I do not recommend it. For a little bit more you could get one that’ll last a lot longer than 4 months. It’s comfy and has good sound but the build quality lets it down unfortunately.
Bought this as a replacement to my recently broken Razer Nari Ultimate headset and overall it’s been a good purchase so far. The headset is much lighter than a lot of other Razer headsets, while this takes some getting used to is ultimately a nice bonus, and is built quite robustly so I can imagine it being somewhat resistant to breakage. Sound quality is good and the wireless range on the product is excellent, easily enough range to extend across several walls/floors without compromise on sound quality. There are a few things which let it down somewhat however. I don’t think I have an abnormally large head but even on the most extended setting it only just about fit when new out of the box (something to consider if this is an issue you have with other headsets) and doesn’t have much leeway in the frame for, if like me, you like to keep one earcup off slightly. This problem is exaggerated as the earcups do a really good job of cancelling outside noise, which for some people (such as me) isn’t desirable. Additionally, there isn’t any convenient place (on my previous headset there was a slot in the headset itself) to store the wireless transmitter for transport, which can be somewhat inconvenient if you’re travelling. Overall, it’s definitely worth buying if you’re looking for a decent headset, but be wary of the things I’ve mentioned and maybe look for an alternative if these things would bother you.
I brought these headphones because the price dropped significantly at the time. I had to upgrade from my previous set because the leather practically disappeared, it would leave black spots everywhere after contact. The sound quality is good, I do notice a slight difference in volume compared to my other set, its defiantly more quieter and less bass is present. I also no longer have the light up feature because this set uses a headphone jack rather than a USB port. These are more comfortable and the ear cups are more comfy on the hear. If you are looking for a decent upgrade then these are the headphones for you. I noticed that other people said that the frame cracks or that they stop working but I had these for four months now and they are doing just fine.
This headset is great sound is the best ive ever heard and I sound better on others mics however the wire that needs to be plugged in means I can’t charge my controller and have the headset in at the same time on the ps5 it’s a small issue and it’s more of a PS5 problem but overall the headset is amazing can’t recommend it enough.
fairly heavy is the first thing u notice. othervise good audio quality on the mic. and offcourse being razer verry good audio quality in general from headphones
I ordered Kraken Ultimate as the headset I was using was a cheap one. Getting the Kraken Ultimate has made such an improvement to my gaming. The surround sound allows you to hear when players are directly behind you. When ordering I didn’t notice it had noise cancellation, but what an improvement it made as there are now no sounds elsewhere other than the game. Would recommend, worth for the price.
Kraken produce good products and this is to replace a well worn set that lasted several years. I have previously had the head bar snap as it is by plastic but put that down to misuse.
I was disappointed with the tdgl shipment via Amazon as the box had removed stick labels over in and had clearly been opened before. I paid for new as a gift and not the reduced price. I can’t be bothers with the return hassles but wish to share feedback with the wider community.
The aluminium frame makes for a stress free experience when using these headphones which require the use of a wire
I use these for my work and they are great.
My headset was really cheap from amazon warehouse. After I ordered them, I was starting to dread them coming, with them been so cheap but I was over the moon when I opened the parcel. The item its self is a great product. They sit and feel comfortable even after long periods and the volume is really loud and I like the feature of the extractable mic and with the mute mic button on the tip of the mic that lights up red when on mute. Also, I like the feature of the headset connecting to the razer software. Great product.
This gaming headset has truly opened me into a whole new world of gaming. The sound quality is very precise with brilliant RGB lighting on the sides and amazing ear cushions for supporting gamers with longer periods of gaming. i really can’t wait for their next brilliant product to be released. Razer has definitely stood up to their standards of equipment that gives out standing game play.
Working along side the HTC Vive from 2016, I could not recommend these headphones anymore than I can now! They fit perfectly for VR headsets, incredible mic quality and simple setup means you’ll be playing in no time! The quality is amazing too meaning if you fall or they drop you won’t be picking up plastic pieces. Incredible work, definitely would recommend
The Kraken V3 continues the trend of the previous generations but really nails it this time. The sound is beautiful, very impressive responsiveness across the range, whether its hearing every instrument of a song balanced amazingly or every detail of whats going on in a game, it effortlessly lets you experience it all.
So haptics on headphones may seem potentially unnecessary, however, it’s honestly a great experience. I can understand that to some people it might be a bit much if you are hyper sensitive to vibrations but even then the lowest setting might work for you, but for me it set to medium is the sweetspot. Feeling the bass in songs and the beat of drums makes it feel much more real, like you’re actually there with all the noise pulsing through your body, and feeling the shockwave of explosions or the rumble of a car engine is definitely something to experience. I’ve briefly had to go back to another pair of headphones (simply to play games on another device and i didnt feel like setting up the kraken on it, even tho its basically instant if you already have razer synapse installed) and i found myself really missing the haptics even more so than the THX spacial audio which made my other headphones sound dull. To sum up about the haptics, they add an extra edge of immersion into whatever content you are experiencing and it’s so satisfying but you’ll miss it if you have to go without it for even a minute.
Now the last of what i consider to be the three most important factors of a headset, comfort. Now, I’m not the biggest fan of round headphone cups, but honestly these are the most comfortable ones I’ve tried, it still feels strange to me (as I have mainly used rectangular for many years) but it’s definitely comfortable the many hours I’ve had the kraken on. It doesnt make your ears overheat and the cups are soft yet supportive. Only issue I have is there’s less clamping pressure than I’m used to and due to the circular shape, if i tilt my head completely down, the headphones slip and rest on the back of my ears, feeling as if they’ll fall of with some average energy head shaking, but I may just be spoiled with my previous rectangular headphones which feel sturdy no matter what which made them feel more comfortable just because I could do anything and not worry about them falling off. I have the same issue with all round headphones I’ve tried, so if you don’t have an issue with others, you wont with this because this is noticeably better than others to me.
Overall, the Kraken V3 with hypersense is an absolutely amazing set of headphones, amazing quality, innovation in the amazingly tuned haptics, and decent price below what I’d consider matching level headphones from competitors. Of course they’re not the best headphones in existence, as if you spend a couple to many times the price you’re likely to get better clarity and surround sound from headphones with five or so speakers per ear, but you cant get much better in the same price range, if you can find anything better anyway.
And to actually finish, in a place most people skip to read, best headphones for price, will probably last forever like my older Razer Electra V2. Only issue is its microphone is great for picking up voice no matter the surroundings, but it still sounds like “a high quality game chat”, and is a bit worse than my electra, so perfect for game chat, mediocre for talking to friends or in meetings, and definitely wouldn’t use for streaming or making content of any sort.
I’ve had these headphones for a few months now and to be fair they’re decent, I like the weight and the feel of these, the sound quality is really good, though it’s something quite fiddly to change the volume mid game, but overall really good and reliable.
Main thing I dislike is how sometimes the connection drops though I haven’t moved, the audio will be fuzzy for a about a minute, though I could’ve gotten a faulty pair I’m not sure.
Last thing is I feel like he mic picks up too much sometimes, I could be drinking or swallowing normally and my mates can hear the whole process, kind of uncomfortable but not the biggest issue, just thought it was important. (especially for people who eat on mic)
As an overall rating these are an 8/10 for me 🙂
The razer software provides access to many different settings. Most importantly sidetone, which allows one to hear own voice whilst communicating, so no more shouting. Sidetone volume can be adjusted or turned off. And best of all it works with discord.
There’s also microphone noise reduction, clarity settings and others, allowing us to have perfect voice control. I use voice alot when gaming, it’s important the headphones are comfortable, here they do not fail, special ear cushions cool my ears, also I wear spectacles, the cushions are spectacle frame compatible, the arms aren’t jammed in against my temple anymore, brilliant design.
Now as for the sound, THX is amazing, is totally immersive, sounds from all around when playing compatible games (which most are), with loads of software controls, including bass boost and graphic equaliser. Even music is brought to life. Especially high and low frequencies.
The ear pads externally have lighting, which razer software controls, ive mine set to breathing effect. I’ve also other razer products with lighting. My setup is complete. Thanks Razer.
A surprisingly good headset for my budget as I do not wish to spend more on a headset as I’m no pro gamer or audio professional.
I’ve been a little nervous since other reviews seemed to highlight the “snapping” problem where the headset snaps in half. I do not find the headset build to be overly flimsy or cheap but I generally do try to treat my hardwares with care.
The head padding is soft and underneath it seems to be a sturdy/firm infrastructure that keeps it together. The ear padding is very comfortable for my use – I work on my computer with the headset in the day and use it for entertainment and gaming in my off time – and I have not yet encountered headache using it or sweaty ear paddings. I also wear glasses on a daily and previous tight headsets were therefore very problematic for me. But not this one though. It seems to rest more on top of the head, moreso than pressuring the ears. I am very pleased with my purchase, although I haven’t activated/used its surround sound capabilities yet. It also cancel out the noise around me pretty good without the earpads working like a “plug” on my ears.
Edit: I forgot to include about the microphone which is quite decent. The fact that it is retractable is quite nice and practical, and the quality of the mic sound itself is fine with good noise cancellation from my surroundings. I am no streamer or podcast host but I have not received any complaints on my microphone quality – even in daily work situation.
The biggest minus for me is the cable. If there is any weakness to this headset it would be the very thin cable which is even braided! I am trying not to let the cable tangle itself too much since I believe this is the element of the headset that would give up the first. That’s a huge shame IMO, having a great headset for the price tag, and then attaching a weak cable that seems flimsy and potentially prone to being ripped off by accident. The cable being braided does not seem to be of any benefit when the cable itself is super thin. I will just be extra careful about this aspect since I do love this headset!
I’ve been using these for over a year and ordered myself a new pair because the others sound driver stopped working in one ear for an unknown reason, was probably my own fault though. Regardless, they sound amazing! I love how they’re able to be fine-tuned to your personal preference in Synapse 3.0! The bass on them is great, which is why I’ve been using Krakens since 2014. The surround sound on them really does help in games, and swapping over to THX is super easy and sounds brilliant! I’m not giving them a 5 because of the issue I listed above, but it could have been my own fault so I’m not dropping it any lower as these really are a quality pair of headphones.
The audio is good for the price, and the microphone seems OK. The one-axis ear-cup rotation and quite squishy, deep, fake-leather ear-cushions of these feel odd and were noticeable less breathable during recent summer weather, compared to the two-axis ear-cup rotation and fabric/foam ear-cushions of my prior headset. It would be nice if the manufacture could look at improving ear cushion breathability, possibly via accessories.
I chose these because they seemed the best, economy priced, headset I could find for remote group sessions and some media use, after being embarrassed for a remote group session by a fragile design failure of an expensive S. S. 7 gaming headset I had, which is now obvious in most of their models.
I buy gaming headsets because they tend to have better Audio, so are useful for media, and can even be cheaper than voice specific headsets with microphones, the larger over-ear cups can also better block external noises too.
Update: December 2022, after, only, a little over a year:
The headband is flawed because the leather-like padding cover has part come away at the back, from the slot it originally was in. More seriously, the headband has started cracked from the back, on the Right side near to by the R, of RAZER on the top, so it’s only a matter of time before it completely separates. I’m glad that I later bought a pair of “Razer Kraken” as an upgrade, because they are much tougher with a one piece Steel headband and ear cup rings, and really put S. S. to shame. I had relegated these for mobile use, but may have to bin them if I can’t patch them up easily.
PROs:
– Comfortable
– Good sound
– Surround sound works well
CONs:
– A big price jump for not a lot extra
– Average performing mic
– USB gaming headset which means it really only works on PC
In my opinion this headset is suitable for gamers or people who work from home and have to sit through hours and hours of conference calls due to the headset being relatively lightweight.
in the box you can find just the headset and a brief start guide manual (not much). I wish there was also an adapter that would allow the use of the headset on platforms other than PC but unfortunately there wasn’t such thing in the box.
One thing I like about this headset is that the headphones are large, with thick ear pads filled with cooling gel and foam which helps. The retractable microphone sits in the left earphone and can be muted by squeezing the top. It all feels very comfortable. Oh, and it lights up now too, if you are into that (like I am). As someone who is wearing glasses I was surprised to discover there are hidden eyewear channels carved in the pads to decrease the tension and make getting a decent seal easier.
Raser Kraken Ultimate is a nice to have headset.
I personally love this headset, I watched a lot of reviews and people were like super disappointed but being honest here i love it, my friends instantly noticed that my mic sounded different and that I sounded a lot clearer!!! The app is trash being honest here, but I love the sound on this headset it’s amazing! People said it isn’t that good listening to music with but I really like it with music!!! :))) The THX is also really good if you play FPS games I feel like I can hear everything around me super weird but very nice sounding. I completely recommend this headset while it’s on sale!!! :)))
Wow. This is simply the best headset that I have ever used. Prior to this I was using the PlayStation GOLD headset which was great, however wasn’t ideal for gaming on my PC or Xbox. Its great that this headset boasts a powerful performance across all platforms.
The RGB lighting on the ears is subtle, and a brilliant feature (which can only be changed through the Razer software on PC).
The padding on the ears is always cool to the touch and the cooling gel really does help avoid ear sweat during those long gaming sessions.
The headset is light enough that I sometimes forget im wearing it altogether, and the band is well enough padded that it is very comfortable on my head.
Finally, I think the collapsible microphone is a brilliant idea! I love the way it pulls in and out of the left headphone. My friends have already commented on how much clearer I sound.
What came in the box:
The headset with a connecting cable, it has a functional mute button and a volume control dial on the cable. Alongside the headset, came another cable used for connecting the headset to a PC, the mic and audio cables.
Finally, I received some documentation, some stickers and a code for the 7.1 surround sound software – more on this later.
General aesthetic:
I received my order yesterday, they look great inside the box, extremely well presented. It feels nice, each part is well crafted, pulling the headphones down to fit over the head feels great, nice tactile feel.
The microphone is seated inside the headset, if you need to you can pull it and it comes out to about two inches over your mouth so plenty of space.
Audio quality:
I decided to try them out on the PS4 to see what audio quality was like, it is great. The cooling pads in the headset really make it a lot more comfortable especially when you’re in it for the long run.
Noise cancellation:
I have my music about 80% and there is some bleed, but this is to be expected with over-the-ear headphones, once I have my headset on, there’s probably no bleed at all.
Other:
The only thing that prevented me from giving this 5/5 was the fact that the 7.1 surround sound seems to be handled by a proprietary software that you need a unique code for. If I had bought this second hand I may not have been able to take advantage of this feature. Even still I don’t think it is true 7.1 surround sound, I think it is simulated from the software, so bear this in mind before purchasing a used set.
Final verdict:
Still worth buying, was cheap and just needed something to wear that is comfortable.
I bought this headset primarily for gaming both on the PC as well as on PS4 and I have not been disappointed whatsoever, this is after buying the Razer Blackshark V2 X which I unfortunately found to be a bit of a tight fit however the Razer Kraken Ultimate I find to be far more comfortable to wear for prolonged periods of time.
The build quality is fantastic being reasonably weighty due to the aluminium and steel construction this gives it a reasonable heft to each headphone however not enough to make it noticeable during wear and use. The audio quality is incredibly solid that is with both the output as well as the input, my friends immediately commented that I sounded incredibly clear through the mic and was very well heard. The THX audio support is a very welcome feature and I found that to function very well on games such as Metro Exodus and Hades, the former of which supports THX directly leading to very immersive surround sound.
The headset also has some very useful quality of life features such as the cooling gel in the headphone pads which did indeed keep my head and ears quite cool, the microphone is also retractable which allows you to very easily tuck it out of the way when you’d rather have it outside of your vision but even when it is fully extended it doesn’t really encroach on your vision that much. Another very handy feature is the easily mutable mic, I found all I had to do to mute it was simply give it a slight squeeze and then the LED on the end of the mic would light up which made it easy to remember that I had myself muted so I wasn’t talking to nothing because I forgot I had my mic muted which used to be a common occurrence.
Overall a fantastic headset which I honestly can’t recommend enough as I have found everything to be fantastic, from the build quality to the audio quality I am not disappointed in any way.
-just received the package
-the packaging was decent but overall meh. sadly the headphones don’t come with a pouch
-microphone and speaker test on laptop
speakers ridiculously decent, not the best but far above average, comparing to the Powerbeats Pro sounds relatively the same, ‘apart from when the beat drops’ as expected. the microphone is not Walmart gaming headphone level but not the best, maybe after fiddling with it my opinion would change. but for now the microphone did not sound as fulfilling as the inbuilt microphone on my Mac.
-had to wait for the console to update so that sucked, literally the worst timing. (really triggering).
-still waiting for the console update
just as stated all you need to do is plug into the controller to be connected to the console (xbox 1x).
the speakers sound incredible for music, and It means a lot coming from someone that plays with a full sound system normally.
noticed the headphones are quite heavy, you can really feel the weight on your neck, but it is manageable. After longer gameplays I would re-review the whole thing.
aiit 100% lets go.
-Console test (overall)
F1 2019
The cars sound flat compare to the sound system, an incredible decrease in sound depth *
lap times are about a second of 🙁 , maybe i’m rusty or maybe the difference in tone. not sure if its the headphones in particular or all headphones. so take with a pinch of salt. actually to change it to something relatively close to the sound system I went to audio settings, then advanced audio settings then changed radio output device to main output device. it sort of tricks the system, sounds way better and vibrant. Yeah, way better although you become more afraid of locking up.
Forza horizon 4 and motorspot 7 (never noticed the game had ads your forced to watch) btw if you want the lego pack contact me.
Sounds decent enough, not outstanding but really good.the cars actually sound better than the surround sound, those crackles and downshifts (especially the holy trinity and their modern counterparts). definitely your moneys worth or this game.
FIFA, GTA, ACECOMBAT, FORTNITE & COD franchises
sounds ok, would go more in-depth after 2 weeks of offline and online play, but right now its just meh.
-Overall review
I got mine, the Razer Kraken for Console for about 52.25 pounds and it was totally worth it
pros cons
Sounds good both with music and games a lot of plastic (I personally don’t mind)
Works on xbox without any setup quite heavy
totally worth the price of purchase design is quite cumbersome (just pointing out, IDM)
Build seems sturdy
would I recommend, 100% on the X or this if price difference is below 10 pounds.
I hope this helps, add me on xbox (traplordafro21), or reply to this review for further questions.
most likely I wasted my time with this, but if there’s anyone that appreciates this you are most definitely welcome.
Would be Re-reviewing after 2-4 weeks of ownership.
