I like that the Lenovo screens are quite understated compared to some gaming models. It is also good that the stand can be detached and used for another monitor as it has a standard VESA mount. I tend to use monitor arms and the old stands end up being a bit useless normally. I am only running this at 60Hz for now as it is taking input from a multiplexer. I find the blacks not as good as I hoped, but did not want to risk VA. A solid purchase closer to the hundred GBP mark.
Model purchased:
Lenovo G24-20 24″ 1080p 144Hz 0.5ms monitor
When looking for a new monitor, I only wanted 3 things:
– 144Hz or more
– 5ms or less response time
– Sub 200 in price
I won’t make this a long-winded review; If your parameters match mine, this might be the perfect monitor for you (in early 2023). I moved up to this from a 60Hz monitor that I’d been using for more than 10 years. I jumped on Overwatch 2 to check if it even makes any difference and you wouldn’t believe how much more accurate I am now. I’ve never played this well in my life.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
When I first plugged in the monitor, I was hugely underwhelmed by it. It turns out, Windows had automatically set the screen to 60Hz. Make sure to change this in your Windows settings!
Settings > System > Display > Advanced Display Settings > Refresh rate > 144.000Hz
After making this change, my mouse went from moving around with a noticable trailing effect to being incredibly smooth.
This monitor is very pleasing to game on, the 165Hz refresh rate is smooth and I have not seen any tearing or felt any delay when using it. The panel is IPS for anyone who may be confused about the products description and for the price it is one of the more vibrant IPS displays I have seen.
The buttons are on the back which does get a little getting used to but once you do get used to them they are very easy to navigate with.
The features on this monitor allow you to extensively customise how you want the colours to look and also has the option of overdrive which does make your gaming experience very smooth.
I highly recommend this monitor for anyone who’s looks to game on a budget as it is a monitor that you will find will give you a pleasant shock.
I’ve treated myself to a Lenovo gaming laptop a few years ago and I was pleased with its quality so I had high hopes for this monitor. I am not an expert but seeing this monitor with barely any reviews made me want to share my own experience.
First of all, it’s heavy. The stand contains a lot of metal pieces, it’s large and bulky. I like it, it feels very stable, but it might not be the best monitor for small desks. However, it’s so easy to adjust the height or tilt, just with a single push. There are no screws in the back, just push up or down, and it stays in place.
The picture is beautiful. I had to play with the settings three times to get it right, but the final results are stunning. Great contrast, sharp details and it looks bright even in bright light. I get migraines easily but this monitor is very gentle on the eyes.
Two HDMI ports enable me to keep my laptop and my xbox connected at all times. There’s also a Display Port.
I’ve had one issue with a flickering screen in the middle of a gaming session. I’ve updated my BIOS and so far so good.
I was looking through spring sales for a few days. Nothing fitted.
Then this item showed up. I’m glad I held on.
It was either 200 quid on a half decent one or just over 200 for 2 of this. 🙂
No brainer.
The picture is very clear and stands out like a sore thumb whenever I turn to them.
Never had a picture this clear.
Didn’t think I’d notice going from 144 hz to 165. I did.
Easy to set up even before the screen leaves the box. Everything as is and great
Delivery great.
I thank you 🙂
It states its 100Hz but I’ve managed to get it to overclock at 120Hz with my PS5. Needs a bit of tinkering with the PS5 settings but plenty of videos on how to do this on YouTube. Never had a gaming monitor before as usually use 55″ 4k TV but fancied experiencing a higher refresh rate at the expense of resolution until hdmi 2.1 TVs come down in price. Really happy with my purchase. Only small limitation which I knew before purchasing was the lack of ability to adjust the hight. It is vesa 100 compatible though.
Only positive responses from the two teens they were bought for. They look great and work brilliantly.
These are great monitors for gaming i have two. 165hz and they come with Display ports which is also very nice. Would highly recommend these as a first time buy into PC Gaming.
There’s barely any reviews for this in the UK as there are so few retailers in the UK selling it.
It’s seriously good for the money.
No motion blur or black smearing, colours are really good and the brightness is fine even in daylight/a lit room.
Getting a height adjustable stand at this price is also very nice.
You’d have to spend over 50 more to get a monitor that beats this!
