Watched the tutorials on u tube and had no bother putting it together. ( Well hubby did, i just made the tea!) Had an issue with one of the gas struts, contacted the company and replacements were sent within the week, very impressed!

It arrived early and we put it together the same day. Seems sturdy. Some nut just too tight for their bolts but we got them on. Some massive screws, going it to thin plastic. The plastic could be made thicker at those points. All in all I’m quite happy with it.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersFollow the instructions carefully and building it is not hard. See “Amz Customer” review on 16 July 2022 for some handy hints. The one hint I was glad for is to take care putting the metal supports in the right way, so that the holes are lined up correctly. The instructions do state this but only for the first one.

Delivery took a long time and the box came half battered. I noticed moving it to the garden that screws were falling out. One of the blister packs inside had burst open. Fortunately everything was accounted for except for some washers which were easily replaced.

At 200 or less I would say this is a good value. Trying to find something similar in wood you’re going to have major quality issues at this price point. Plus the ongoing care will be much greater. We have a lifetime bench which has (mostly) held up for a number of years, so I’m confident this will last.

It appears you can get accessories such as shelves and tool holders for the interior, though I’m not sure where to source these in the UK, nor that they would really support much weight. I will probably build or buy some freestanding shelves for the inside eventually.

Knocking off one star because the technique for leveling the doors is poor, I’m my opinion. They want you to wedge some plastic wedges under the back corner and then fix the unit to the wall behind. As you can see from the photos, I’ve had to rig a plank of wood across two fence posts to achieve this. Not ideal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good value at £200

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is ideal for keeping my large mobility scooter dry although the hydraulic ram broke off after 2 days I can still manage to hold it up with one whilst I get it out and put it away so it’s not really a problem but it shouldn’t have broke after a couple of days

The build instructions specifically asks you to put bolts through metal holes drilled too small for them, the guy in the online video recommends doing with a drill/screwdriver, we tried this but it was impossible. Had to resort to using different screws. Apart from that it’s a good storage box, holds a lot and is sturdy.

This is a very good storage box, keeps our garden cushions dry and is strong enough to sit on.
Assembly was not complicated, but was a bit fiddly at points – trying to make sure plastic tabs were properly located and tightening the locking nuts were the low points. But if you have 2 people it only takes about an hour so get together and should last several years, so I can forgive the building aspect a bit.

With minimal DIY skills and the correct tools it went together in 20mins. Very sturdy and solid quality. Instructions are precise and detailed. You need 2 people for the lid fixing but else it’s single handed. Will recommend this product to others 5 sta

    Pro’s: Good sturdy shed.
Con’s: Paid to have it assembled, but it was not square, therefore the doors did not shut correctly. Had to have the service guy out who corrected this in 10 minutes. Then it was weatherproof and fit for purpose.

This arrived in good condition and easy to assemble although I did have to partly dismantle the lid fittings in order to fit the spring strut ends, (badly written instructions). The box looks very robust and practical. I sited it on my lawn on top, for now a pile of wood chippings to get a level base. I’m using it to store garden furniture, a gazebo, sunshade and seat cushions, a much better option than the shed. You can fit a padlock to it. All the metal fitting either slot or screw into the heavy duty plastic walls and lid. No issues to date.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersAbsolutely over the moon with it. Bought a different one for 40 last summer which clicked together no screws and it didn’t even last a year. This product is very strong and robust, fairly light weight to be able to move around the garden easily. Do not be put off by reviews saying it’s hard to assemble. I nearly let this stop me purchasing and I’m so glad I didn’t. All you need is an adjustable spanner, screw drivers and a power drill. If you have all of those things and follow the easy steps you can set this up within 20 minutes. The actual box itself takes 5/10 minutes it’s just the hinges on the lid which require some time with the drill and the spanner but a beginner can follow the instructions with ease. Amazing box looks great in our garden and very high standard and quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing product!!! Easy to build if you follow the steps.

I followed the advice of another reviewer and followed the YouTube video guidance rather than just the paper instructions. Best tip I can give is make sure you’re clicking in the ends on a hard surface, you need resistance to click them in so the top is flush and the screw holes line up. As long as everything is aligned it’s easy to put together and the piston opening is really handy!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersDespite many reviews saying otherwise, it was straightforward to assemble with the correct tools. I use it for storing cushions etc for garden furniture and to date has been waterproof. Just need to remember to wipe away any standing water on the lid before opening or the water drips in from the lid.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAs other reviewers have found, this is not an easy click together assembly, but the end result is a very strong watertight box without flimsy, bendy panels. Before ordering, I watched a Youtube video (search for Lifetime 150 gal storage box assembly), so if you are systematic and follow the steps methodically, it’s straightforward to do: it took me two hours from start to finish. So the tradeoff is having a box which really does look as if it’ll last forever after my two hours of toil, or something which takes 15 minutes but has to be treated with kid gloves thereafter. For me, the long-term end result is more important.

I was a bit apprehensive about ordering this after reading that people had issues with assembly. Glad I went ahead and ordered it. I watched the guide on you tube for the model I ordered ( the 150 gallon large storage box). It took me 40 mins to assemble on my own. You obviously need a power driver and a couple of spanners, but it went together no bother. It’s a very sturdy box and looks like it will stand the test of time.

Bought this box to store our outdoor cushions in.
The box was relatively easy to put together with two of us (make sure you spot the big L & R on the inside panels before starting!). We were very impressed with the quality of the box – it feels more sturdy than a lot of others we’ve seen.
The only issue we had, when we got right to the end, was that we couldn’t snap fix one end of the pistons (which give a soft open and close) on to its round lug – even using a gentle rubber mallet. We’ve had to cable tie these at one end for them to work.
Very annoyingly, there seems to be absolutely no way of contacting the manufacturers to simple get a new set of pistons. The only option, via Amazon Prime, is to return the whole box – and that’s not going to happen after building it!
Other than that – we are very impressed and would highly recommend.

This was a challenge to put together as the holes weren’t big enough and had to be re-drilled. Cannot padlock the lid down as there is a part missing. We are having to put something on top to hold the lid closed.
On the plus side, it looks good, holds all our garden furniture cushions and appears to be watertight.

We bought this because it is bigger than most and looks attractive. We put this together in about 90 mins. Recommend a two person job. Some slots in the base needed fettling to fit properly. Otherwise simply follow the instructions and job done. The instructions state that it is not waterproof.

Whilst it takes some assembling and you will need an electric screwdriver or drill to get the screws into the plastic the end product is solid and more importantly sealed against the weather. Just take your time and read the instructions with care and it all makes sense. Very good product and it’s the second one of these we have bought (the first one was for a holiday house we owned till recently) so can say that they last – the first one is 2 yrs old and no problems at all. We just use a small stainless carabiner as a means of keeping the lid firmly down.

Great box, looks good and feels solid. It’s easy enough to assemble, but would advise two have two people especially in the first 10 minutes when you are locking all the pieces together. Also really helps to have a rubber mallet to tap things into place. Some of the screwing the bolts in would not be possible without a battery operated drill to use as a screwdriver and you will need a socket set and adjustable spanner. Providing you have these couple of tools everything should be fine. I was impressed enough to buy another one.

Easier to build if you have two people

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIncredibly difficult to assemble even with the videos. The written instructions should really be much better with clearer pictures. They tell you to use a drill but there isn’t enough room to do this, it’s quite fiddly. We eventually finished it and are pleased with the finished product. Even though at present we can only get one of the gas springs to fit. Work in progress! It says it’s not waterproof so I bought a cover. Quite spacious and I’m pleased to be able to store the cushions and seat covers. It also needs a lock.

Hood quality item, had a little difficulty with one of the corners due to a little damage but managed to sort. A lot better quality than the keter shed I have and seems really sturdy. Preferably use two to build unless you have three hands. I have added a ring sensor quite easily. Seems really good quality , good accessories and fab instructions with links to the internet.

Bought this to store the cushions from an outdoor dining set. Fits the eight cushions with room to spare, but it’s a pretty big box! Bit early to assess whether it’s weatherproof, but it’s survived a couple of hefty showers and the contents remained dry! Construction was OK, but had to take some care when fitting some of the screws which went straight into plastic! Don’t recall seeing (before reading the instructions) that you needed two different sizes of spanner, and that for one part of the installation you needed them both at the same time to counter rotate, but thankfully I had an adjustable spanner handy! Using my drill definitely helped. All in all I’m pretty pleased, but it’s early days – so far so good!

I looked at the assembly video before buying. The box is very well designed and comparatively easy to assemble. You do need a certain level of skill and the appropriate tools. I would suggest checking the video prior to purchase to make sure you can do it.. The box is definitely one of the better ones I have seen. So many of those I came across in DIY centres were very fragile with assembled samples already breaking on the shelves. This box is in a different league well above those. On completion of assembly I ran along all the inside joints with clear sealant which has dramatically increased the rigidity.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersHaving read the reviews, the one very thing in common is the lack of pre-drilled holes for the screws to go in. If you do it in a hurry, there’s a good chance the fittings won’t be right and that means the rest of the fittings won’t sit right either. Here are some tips:

    1. Don’t guess or do it in a hurry unless you are a professional!
    2. Take time to familiarise yourself with the accessories on each section.
    3. Section 1.1 paid attention to the enlarged drawing of the Wall Square Tube, there is a HOLE and watch which way it goes into the left side panel. You I’ll find this is important especially in section 2.10 – 2.12 where the pre-drilled holes are located on the door handle area. If you already pushed the AHS part in but you realise it’s the wrong way round, it will be very difficult to get it out again. I haven’t found a way but fortunately I took my time and didn’t get to this situation.
    4. If you plan to build by yourself, you can use chairs to hold other part upright as in section 1.4
    5. Building the foundation from section 1.6 to 1.11, you must get it right and secured the panels to the base, the parts must slot in. Watch how section 1.5 tells you to slide the panel toward the rear of he front panel and this is the same for 1.10.
    6. Section 1.11, the design is a bit odd here but for the Screws ADX), pre-drill the holes will make work easier and this means take you time and ensure this is tight. I don’t use power drill here in case it over tightens and something breaks. This is the base so getting his part fitted tight is essential.
    7. And where you see the area to put the screws in but there are no markers, pre-drill the hole first – so this is where It takes up more time.
    8. From 1.14 the roof section, put something heavy like some weights of 5 – 10kg to hold down the roof while you drill the screws in. Just watch where you placed the weights and moved them around to support.
    9. Section 2.6 just watch carefully with the word Chamfered just in case you never hears of it. Look at the diagram should help you decide which way round the hinge should be facing.
    10. If you reach 2.22 and you don’t need to secure it to a wall, you are done!

I managed to build it perfectly and the door lock fits, though the door does need a bit of force ( push the lower part of the door as you shut it and the part DGR / S secure the door from gaping..
Avoid putting anything heavy in the roof as it is only plastic, it will bend slightly. It does get warm and hot if you place it where the sun shines directly on it, there are no air vent.

So far 4 star out of 5 due to lack of pre-drilled holes but otherwise it looks and feel sturdy. Really pleased with the effort.

8/11/2022 – after 6 months , I will check and review the product after it’s been exposed to the elements with photo if possible.
11/2/2022 – checked inside. Looks good all storage inside, no cracks or anything broken or splitted Tiny foliage / leaves managed to get inside on floor but these are minor. The front you can see slight stain but it’s not a problem. The top / roof section looks good no damage. The back looks good too no crack or damage. The price paid back in June/July 2022 was around 195. So this was a good purchase. I noticed some people here mentioned they paid much higher like over 300-500?? Crazy dynamic pricing. I think under 200 is worth buying, 250 would be a stretch. Hope this 6 months review help you decide. The main focus is to ensure the base foundation is solidly built. A buyer mentioned sealing the inside to stop water from getting inside. Interesting tip!

Pre-drill holes if possible and take time to build i

This review is for Lifetime 60186 Heavy-Duty Outdoor Storage Deck Box 439.11 L as there are reviews for other items mixed in with these.

I chose this instead of some of the much cheaper, more often advertised and better known storage containers, I’m so glad I did. It’s fairly heavy, but that is due to the solid build quality. No flimsy broken panels or anything remotely familiar as I’ve seen on reviews for other storage containers.

Putting it together was very simple and straight forward and didn’t take very long. The instructions were very clear and easy to understand.

I can fit more inside than I’d hoped and I’m confident it should last a while. So far I’m really pleased with this purchase.

Was dreading assembling this as my husband hates DIY but between us we found it ok to build. One of the gas pistons unfortunately did not fit so we had to contact lifetime and a new part was sent ( from the USA) Anyway it is sturdy, looks good , is water proof and got for a good price ( 95). The lid seems to be very slightly warped maybe with the heat so it does pop up occasionally at one side. Fits all my cushions which was the main aim so I have in it 5 large seat cushions, 5 padded back cushions and 2 stool cushions

    Keeps the cushions dry!

This appears to be a good quality product. However, this is not that easy to assemble and you do need a variety of tools which are not supplied I.e. spanner’s, mallet, electric drill etc. I have only had the product a few days but it kept our subbed cushions dry in a substantial thunder storm the other night so it has passed the weatherproof test with flying colours. Overall I would recommend this product as long as you have a good selection of tools and a reasonable aptitude towards building these sort of items

Reading some of the reviews on this box, I thought it might be a bit of a nightmare to assemble. However, I downloaded the official YouTube video and had it built quite quickly. The only slight issue was that the holes in the sides to secure the hinges were a bit tight to get the bolts through but a couple of taps with a hammer sorted that. Overall a sturdy, well-made box. It rained for several hours after I had it built, but the next morning my cushions inside were dry although they did get a little wet when I opened the lid. Next time I will wipe the rain off before I open it!

I bought this to replace an old metal+wood shed with something a bit more weather-proof. It is a great product – sturdy and not letting in a drop of water from recent storms.

The process of putting it together was complicated by excess flashing left on some of the parts and it really would have been a real drag if I had to do it on my own. Fortunately my son helped me and it was only slightly more onerous than it would have been without the flashing.

All in all – a great product. Would just be a tiny bit improved if it had come without all the excess plastic flashing we needed to trim.

The box itself is good – only thing is they did not include the bolts and screws that are required to put it together. I sent them an email with all the information that they might require but they kept on insisting that I phoned them (in California) at night here (UK) to give them a list of the missing parts. In the end I gave up!! I am hopeful that I will be able to find the correct sizes of bolts and nuts in a hardware store to do the job, It is assembled, but of course it is not very strong as it is. I think this is very remiss of them that they are not checking the goods that are leaving their premises. It is not Amazons fault because it is not their responsibility to open every package and check the contents!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI researched a lot and decided on this one due to the size for my needs, the style which is nice and the sturdyness reported by others, I was put off quite a bit by the difficulties reported by other buyers but risked it because I haven’t met a flat packed item that defeated me yet.
Other buyers need to be aware that this is tricky to assemble, simply because there are no guide holes in the plastic and you need brute force to screw into the plastic initially, that’s fine because I had enough brute force and was able to complete the base alone. When it came to the lid I needed to call for assistance, the screws are deliberately wide and so when screwing them into the bar it’s not possible to do this while holding the bar down flush with the moulding to allow sufficient space to meet the plastic, not holding it down would mean the screws slightly missed the plastic and therefore you do need 2 people. We found it easier to use a wrench rather than a drill but each to their own. Be aware, the last sentence in the instructions state that the product is not waterproof, I will need to rethink the position and the contents of this product rather than risk what I originally had in mind, having said that I haven’t tested it in rain yet.
The instructions are clear and there’s a couple of QR codes to access a YouTube video to help so its not rocket science by any means.
During assembly my daughter commented it looks like a coffin (due to the size) and it nearly became one after her Father accidentally stabbed himself with a screwdriver, brute force was nearly his undoing.
Overall it’s a good looking product and I’m glad I invested in it rather than a cheaper version.

  39. YettaRoussel says:

As already noted, there are no issue with looks and sturdiness. Decent, hard plastic which should last a while.
However, the assembly is something else.
Manual is confusing and inaccurate. Schematics show perfect parts alignment which cannot be achieved in reality. You cant force push parts together either, as they either bend or spring back out again as soon as you relieve the pressure.

Plastic ‘tongs’ holding sides are quite flimsy and should be thicker.
Metal plate which is supposed to be attached in far, right corner had to be attached with my screws as those designed for it were too short
Hinges are quite flimsy as well, and attaching door to main frame was an absolute pain. Be prepared to have few spare drill bits handy. Also, if you want your door well aligned, be prepared to drill multiple holes until you get it right. This would work much better if instead of screws, there were bolts + nuts with pre – drilled holes in metal inserts for it.

All in all good product, but the assembly (including parts connection) could be so much better.

Some of the reviews on this product mention difficulties in assembling. I ignored the manual entirely and used the two videos on YouTube by the manufacturer. They’re not as detailed as I would have liked but they helped me through it.

Assembling is a little more difficult than other similar items and it took me a few hours. It’s more tricky than your average IKEA unit.

You’ll need a small collection of spanners and a cordless with a high torc on it and a large wrench head fitting for the 8 screws that need to punch in to the plastic, through the metal bars. My cordless simply couldn’t do it, even when I made pilot holes in the plastic first. So I had to borrow a more powerful one which to be fair, did it no problem.

Once constructed I could lift it and move it on my own and it seems solid and weatherproof. But time will tell. All in all, I’m impressed with the quality. It seems sturdier and everything is slotted together a lot tighter than other units I’ve had in the past which ended up letting both rain and bugs in.

Likes: this shed is big! Excellent storage and nice and sturdy once assembled. The kit pieces are all well organised and nothing was missing. The instructions were pretty clear to follow besides a couple of steps, which we could ultimately work out. Which takes me to….
Dislikes: man oh man this took a while to put together, and I know my way around flat pack items! You’re going to need a decent drill for this with a decent battery life. The majority of the screws went in fine, but the self tapping screws were a nightmare. In the end I had to use a metal drill bit to create some pilot holes. Also in section 2 the stages I think there was a manufacturing error because the holes for the screws in the metal support beams were WAY too small which, you guessed it, I had to get the metal drill bit out for again and widen them. Not a huge deal as I had the parts and enjoy DIY, but if you don’t- purchase at your own risk!

Overall, despite taking a while to put together I’m really happy with this shed, its sturdy and is going to last a while!
