DJR188Z 18V Li-ion LXT Brushless Reciprocating Saw – No batteries included
The DJR188Z is a compact and lightweight, cordless Reciprocating Saw powered by 18V Li-ion slide type LXT battery (not included) to deliver up to 3,000 spm to provide high cutting efficiency. The brushless motor eliminates carbon brushes, enabling the motor to run cooler and more efficiently for longer life, and optimises battery energy use for up to 50 per cent longer run time per charge.
The DJR188Z is equipped with variable speed control trigger to allow the user to match the speed to the application and constant speed control to automatically apply additional power to the motor to maintain speed under load. The Reciprocating Saw has a one finger trigger switch with lock off function for user safety. Tool-less blade change makes it easier to remove and instal a blade. The JR188DZ has a LED Job light with pre-glow and after-glow to illuminate the cutting area.
Ergonomically designed handle, with elastomer for comfort and control, fits your hand well, even during cutting applications such as overhead and cutting with the Saw upside down.
Features XPT (eXtreme Protection Technology) for use in outdoor applications or harsh weather, protection from dust and dripping water is enhanced.

Ich besitze schon einige Makita 18 V Akku Maschinen.
Aber auch eine Makita Reciprosge 1010 W, JR3050T.
Aber wenn man vom Kabel unabhngig sein mchte und auch fr kurze Einstze nicht immer erst Kabel legen will, ist eine Akku Maschine natrlich im Vorteil.
Ich habe erst berlegt welche Akku Reciprosge von Makita ich nehme. Da ich die JR3050T schon habe, fiel meine Wahl auf
die DJR188Z.Diese hat geringere Auenmae,ist sehr handlich und fr den schnellen Einsatz perfekt.
Wieder ein tolles Werkzeug.
Ich habe eine kleine Sge gesucht, die Kraft hat und berall hin mitgenommen werden kann.
Genau das alles hat diese Sge.
Sie liegt in einer kleiner Kiste und nimmt nicht viel Platz weg. Wenn sie gerbaucht wird ist sie schnell zur Hand und macht alles klein was ihr vorgesetzt wird. Letzte Woche hat ein Kollege das Schwert seiner Motorsge in einen Baumstamm verklemmt. Also die Makita ins Auto geschmissen, Motorsge befreit, alle glcklich.
Man sollte aber schon ein 5 Ampere Akku benutzen.
Ich kann diese Sge nur empfehlen.
Die Sge ist sehr handlich u.auch mit Akku leicht. Kann ich zu 100% weiter empfehlen.

Im a plumber and i bought this for its size. It obviously doesnt have the power of the larger model but with a little patience it will cut through the same pipes but just needs a few seconds longer. Arrived on time package had been tampered with blades had been removed , thankfully saw intact,
Having said that the saw is much better than expected, already had bigger saw but it is a bit heavier
So new one lighter and just as good power no noticeable difference,

This took a few days to arrive as it came from Amazon in Spain. I was sceptical as to whether or not it was brand new based on some reviews saying theirs came in a plain box. However, this arrived in a genuine Makita retail box and looked unblemished so I am confident it’s factory fresh. What I did notice was the manufacturing date was a year ago, but it registered as new with a 3 year warranty on Makita’s website. All good there then. A 4″ wood and 4″ metal blade were included in the box. These are Makita part numbers B-20432 and B-20404 and midrange quality.
Performance wise this is a superb saw with a good balance to weight ratio. The blade insertion mechanism was a little tight to begin with but has eased up nicely with use. The blades fly out of the mechanism with gusto, so be aware of that or you’ll be bending down to pick them up. The handle and trigger are perfectly designed IMHO, the trigger sized for single finger use. The vibrations are evident but to be expected with this saw.
I have no real criticism of this saw but suggest future improvements include an adjustable shoe plate, 2 LEDs rather than 1, switchable dual speeds, and a retractable stand. A built-in hook wouldn’t go amiss either. All in all this is another win from Makita, especially when used with good quality blades.
Im delighted with this saw. Bought mainly to cut logs and branches for my log burner. Also for branch pruning, and have used it for the occasional pipe cut. It does everything i expected of it and more. The motor really thumps it out, super solid and reeks of quality and longevity. I bought a mix of blades up to 25cm in length. i find the smaller ones cover most jobs with less vibration. battery life is beyond expectations, less then my mak SDS which suprised me.
If i had one niggle, it would be the lock switch. If i were the designer id have it like the safety on a drill where you push and lock per each use. the safety here has two positions on and off. If the safety is off it is off permanently. I think that’s a fairly significant concern given how much of a beast this is. So, when you use, please get into the habit of manually locking each time.
Other than than, incredible tool, just brilliant. Has eaten every task ive put it through with ease !!
This saw is relatively compact but powerful, I wouldn’t want a bigger one unless I had a specific need. Easy to change the blades and easy to hold. You do need to have the saw pressed against what you are cutting otherwise the vibration will shake your wrist badly, but I think thats true for any make of this type of saw.
Zur Sge kann ich noch nicht viel sagen. Der erste Einsatz steht noch bevor.
Das Teil kam aber nicht in einer Originalverpackung sonder rutschte lose mit den beiden kurzen Sgeblttern und der Beschreibung in einem unbescheidneren Karton hin und her. Keinerlei Polstermaterial. Alles einfach lose reingelegt. Merkwrdig.
Daher gehe ich von einem Ausstellungsgert aus.
Funktioniert und hat auch keine erkennbaren Schden oder Abnutzungen. Der erste Robustheitstest wurde also durch den Versand durchgefhrt und bestanden.
Klein, aber ein kleines Kraftpaket! Optimal fr kleine Arbeiten im Haushalt & Garten ohne das man seinen Mann um Hilfe bitten mu! Schade das man die Sge nicht abstellen kann, sondern nur legen!
sostituito a un vecchio 182, molto piu maneggevole, si riesce a usare anche con una mano sola, ma la potenza non calata anzi, con lame buone fa molto piu lavoro nello stesso tempo

Gorilla hook while climbing over a temp roof I have tried loads of different cutters from makita and this is the Best Buy !! cutting power is the same I would say as the other Brushless models but for the the same this one tops it for me

Kan starkt rekommendera sgen, har hittills bara sgat ner lite frukttrd men den gr sitt jobb helt klart.
Kan dock inte rekommendera sljaren, varan var bara paketerad i sin orignalkartong och ngon stans under transport har kartongen troligtvis ppnats s sgen trillat ur, eftersom sgen var smutsig nr jag ppnade det trasiga paketet.
Bin sehr zufrieden mit diese Sge nur die beide Sgeblatter die auf Bild 4 zusehen sind fehlen deswegen Stern abzug. In ein dazu gekaufte Sgeblatterset der gleiche Marke fehlten auch al ein Blatt, hier muss Makita nachbessern!!
It’s quite powerful and glides through tree pruning jobs. It is quite heavy on the battery, so you really need a pair of 5.0ah if you want to use it continuously. Would be perfect for trimming pipe/wood etc.
Macht echt Spa damit zu arbeiten. Sie hat schon fast meine Kettensge ersetzt. Mit dem richtigen Sgeblatt gibt es kein halten mehr und die Sge marschiert auch durch Metall ohne Probleme. Ausreichend Leistungist also vorhanden. Wrde ich mir jederzeit wieder kaufen.
Habe Makita DJR188Z Akku-Reciprosge 18 V, 460 W gekauft da ich auch eine Bohrhammer von Makita besitze und die Akkus passen. Habe smtliche ste abgesgt und Wurzelknollen aus der Erde entfernt. Bin sehr zufrieden und das das Gert brstenlosen Motor hat, hoffe ich , erhht die Lebensdauer.
Ob mit dem Bimetallblatt Eisen sgen, ein Brett in der Lnge mit dem kurzen,scharfen Makita-Sgeblatt auftrennen oder auch einen Mauerziegel mit dem dafr geeigneten Blatt durchsgen,mit dieser Sge ist man bestens gerstet.
Ich hatte aber auch schon 3 Akkusgen hier die leider nicht zu gebrauchen waren. Die eine wurde super hei und die anderen zwei haben zu stark vibriert .

I bought this tool to carry out pruning and trimming jobs on bushes and trees. I had a Bosch Sabresaw 36v, but it is long and heavy and one handed operation was not possible. This tool is better balanced in that respect. It is very handy for quick lopping jobs. A chainsaw would do a faster job but then there is all the faff of fuel mixing, topping up the chain oil, putting on chainsaw proof boots, pants, gloves and a helmet and more work to clean the tool afterwards, not to mention the noise and smell. A quick blast over with my compressed air line and this saw is nice and clean again put put back in it’s Makpac case.
So, as a scaffolder, this is a must have tool for cutting tube and boards. Up until now I was using the DJR186Z. I committed to getting something brushless and compact and I’m not disappointed. Yes, it has shorter strokes but the battery life from a brushless motor is extraordinary. It’s very efficient and with a 5ah battery you’ll easily get about 40 cuts split evenly between steel and wood.
It’s super light and can easily be held in one hand, not like it’s larger equivalent. So, if you’re in my trade or regularly cut wood and steel, this is perfect for you. Easy to use, fits standard recip blades (I’m currently using Bosch ones on mine) and portable enough to fit in a tool bag.
I wanted to buy a recip saw, but was unsure whether to buy this, or a more standard long length stroke saw. So glad I chose this one.
Yes, the blade stroke is shorter than you will get on the more usual recip saw, but it’s barely noticeable in operation.
The compact nature of this saw means that you can on occasion use it one handed to get to difficult places.
In a standard two handed hold, it rips through anything you can throw at it.
The blade change is simplicity itself.
A push to click it in. A small twist to remove. It’s a great, secure quick change system.
As you would expect from Makita, build quality is faultless.
Used with a 5Ah battery it is unstoppable.
Overall, it’s a fantastic tool, the shorter stroke is barely noticeable in use, but the compact size makes it so much more manoeuvrable.

Beefy tool that does the job it’s intended for. Like all saws of this type, you need to work with the stop hard up against the work. If it’s a tree branch, it needs holding firmly otherwise vibration reduces the cutting action. Really good buy for serious users.
Top Gert, habe damit meine kpl. verzinkte Trinkwasserleitung erneut 1″Zoll Rohre kein Problem.. Die Sge ist noch relativ handlich und das Gehuse ist Spritzwasser geschtzt und die Leistung mit einem 18V 3,0AH Akku ist auch absolut ausreichend..
Einen Punkt Abzug gibt es fr die Verpackung und das man den Anschlag vorne nicht verstellen kann.. habe diesen aber durch bohren eines neuen Lochs verlngert..
Wrde das Gert definitiv weiter empfehle

Personally never liked these tools. But the lads that work for me convinced me to get one for a few up coming jobs saying one would be ‘ideal’. I have to say I’ve been very impressed with it. Works great with a 5ah battery.

If you dont need it to be compact i would just buy the standard sized saw instead.
Brought it for my husband and he does property maintenance and he was really pleased with it. Comfortable to hold and cuts well.
Not fully tested .. but on opening and start up was impressed . But it’s makita .. I expect no less for the fine tools ..
Cracking tool. Compact enough to get where you need. Big enough to cope.
