Treated myself to this as a retirement gift. I’d used one before in a hotel room where they were a feature. I was so amazed with the ease of use and quality that I had to buy one. Thanks to the generosity of my ex colleagues, I know one and love it!!
Returned and got a JBL CLIP 4 instead.
Much more bass and more than half the price.
Perhaps Willen 2 will be better.
Come on Marshall you can do it.
This speaker sounds fantastic, is built well and the battery life lasts for ages. Super easy to connect to, I bought as a gift but I want one myself now.
Amazing sound coming out of this speaker. It is large and heavy and not portable at all, but I think it is worth it with the detail that you can get out of it.
It does begin to struggle a bit at higher volumes – the bass doesn’t quite keep up when you blast it, so would not recommend as a large party speaker, but is great for smaller gatherings, or for a bit of ambience music, as it has a very full sound.
The build quality is very good and sturdy, what you would expect from Marshall.
Its loud, its sharp. Just needs you to download the Marshall app even if you want to play from YT
High quality product for the money spent. Excellent sound, hope it last many years
I have to give this speaker five stars because I dropped it in the bath today — it was literally sinking in the water, slipped out of my freaked-out hands, and then fell again — and I dried it off and it sounds like nothing happened. Incredible!
That said, the speaker sounds perfect when turned all the way up with bass and trebel at full throddle. Otherwise the sound performance is a bit weak for its price. It’s great for a bedroom or perhaps even poolside, but not for a gathering of more than ten people, say. The Marshall II is better bang for your buck.
This small speaker packs a major punch and that makes it worth its seemingly large asking price. It conveniently sits on a bookshelf in my office and easily fills the room with rich, deep sound. The bluetooth connection is seamless and I like how the speaker turns itself off when not in use. One gets a lot of sound in a small package with this one; I wouldn’t necessarily make it my main system, but it works wonderfully it you need a bit of sound in the bedroom or office.
This is definitely by far the best Bluetooth speaker around for this size, the build quality is just like there amps and has a good feel and weight about it.
The sound will blow you away from such a small speaker with good bass and battery will last the full 20 hours on a standard volume limit, this speaker definitely puts other more expensive speakers to shame like Bose .apparently it’s completely water proof but I don’t plan on going swimming with it any time soon.
So really pleased with it and can’t wait to take this on holiday.
Sound is amazing, and looks good in the living room. The Marshall app and first time set up is frustrating but one can live with it.
The speaker is fantastic but delivery was horrible. How is it possible destroy the hard double box? What do couriers do with parcels?
I absolutely love the sound and build quality of this, playing old vinyls through it is superb.
The worthiest thing I bought on Amazon. Really cheap in Black Friday. Amazingly increase my life quality. Love it.
I loved the sound quality for the size.
I loved the build
I loved the sound when Playing a movie trailer it’s like being in a mini cinema.
The texture. The weight and the controls are awesome.
I had it on full volume on my phone and full volume on the speaker. After 3 hours 60% of battery life was used.
I could not really hear it well whilst working.
I was out powered by a speaker at work which was a lot cheaper priced. I went to see this massive speaker and found it was half the size as my marshall.
All being said I wouldn’t swap it . But I think it’s overpriced.
If Marshall don’t believe me get in touch.
I was torn between this and the Woburn to replace a Bose system in a home office. I ended up going with the Stanmore II due to the size of the room, and so the system wouldn’t look massive. It sounds really good and looks great, pretty much a display piece really. I find the app a bit hit and miss, that said though the ability to make adjustments via that and the actual unit itself is really good. Well worth the money I think, pretty good value to be honest.
Didn’t disappoint. Sound quality is brilliant. Got this on a deal. A++
Marshall Stanmore II speaker has a great sound for the music i listen to (Northern Soul) & the speaker looks great but sometimes i have a problem connecting & disconnecting via bluetooth but over all a great sounding & looking speake
Have this plugged into my computer and it is amazing. I love this speaker and it is a joy to use. I use Bluetooth for it’s wired into my computer. It would be nice if the off and on switch was a solid click, but I love the dials and have found it to be a great presence on my desk.
Fantastic sound quality for a small single speaker, good bass levels. Stays connected well. Good value for money, I definitely recommend and would buy another. Love the retro look, and solid build quality .
Love the style and look of this Marshall speaker. The quality of the sound is superb. It is exactly what I needed to complete my outside bar area. Noisy or quiet the sound quality is consistent it’s easy to connect snd use would highly recommend.
I talked myself into being happy with keep plugging and unplugging the Stanmore to move it from upstairs to downstairs depending what I’m doing in the house, and that I would be able to stash it out of sight of my better half when not in use. Considering it is about the size of a small microwave I couldn’t quite swing that last one so in the end I sent it back in favour of the the Stockwell which is much more practical as a portable speaker and packs a punch in terms of sound but not on the Stanmore’s level.
It was a bit tricky to set up, mostly with the bluetooth connection, but once done that sound is amazing, such rich clear tones and fabulous bass. Superb value for money, far better speaker than far more expensive Bose soundba
Have had a dilemma between this model and bose soundilink mini (roughly the same price range) for an upgade of Jam Heavy Metal. Eventually I decided to go for Marshall Kilburn II. And it didn’t dissapoint me! The sound quality is really good – it is rich, deep and clean. The speaker is surprisingly powerfull as well – it will fill your room starting from level 5 on the vol. Probably I will not use vol level more than 8 indoors which is loud enough! Bluetooth signal is stronger comparing with my old buddy Jam Heavy Metal which fails to play if its paired with a device in another room. The build quality is fantastic as well.
Charged it for 3 hours after unpacking and now listening it for 6 hours non-stop – only three bars down. Surely it will last a day or two on medium volume levels.
The downside is that you have to physically hold the “bluetooth button” when pairing/adding a new device. Also after unpairing the speaker turns off automatically so you have to turn it on by pressing the same “bluetooth button”. Additionally, it is not possible to pause/change songs through the device – there are no physical control buttons on Kilburn for it as they are realised on other models. Lastly I think it is a medium sized speaker which limits its portability. itis a but heavy too.
So far I am very happy with my decision.
The sound quality is outstanding for its size- in my opinion equal to the bose at a lower price. Decent bass and volume and I would agree with other reviews that say it excels in the vocals. The build quality is solid and it looks fantastic wherever you put it. I particularly like the central rocker switch, which is responsive and quickly allows you to change tracks and volume with minimal fuss. The battery seems to last forever and the battery level indicator is a useful feature.
Small criticism would be no aux input – although i bought it to be portable so unlikely ever to want to plug a device into it. Bluetooth range is ok – not fantastic I usually need to be in the same room to avoid any stuttering- I have come from using chromecast audio where range is not an issue- but less portable. I was surprised to read that despite it using Bluetooth 5.0 it uses an SBC codec rather than more recent AptX or AAC, which offer better latency and marginal improvement in sound quality. Not that I’ve noticed anything detrimental to the sound quality.
Overall an outstanding portable speaker for the money!
The only thing that remain still not clear is that I haven’t found the 3,5″ audio cable in the box (the actual box doesn’t say that should be included), while on the Marshall website the very same speaker is delivered with the 3,5″ audio cable. Not that big deal, just seems strange.
I repeat, the speaker is amazing, well packaged and immaculate when received.
Stanmore II is the sweet spot within the product range as it is compact but capable of high performance. The Acton is too tiny and cannot play at a similar volume or ensure the same bass response. On the other hand, the Woburn can be even louder and richer in bass range thanks to its two woofers. If space is not an issue Woburn can deliver the best performance but your neighbors may not appreciate it as much you do.
All in all the Stanmore II is a very good product that will please any user, even the most demanding:
* Built quality: As any Marshall products, it is built paying attention to details. It is entirely covered with high quality black vinyl, details are made of real brass and knobs are rubberized for easier grip.
* Features: Stanmore II offers very good connectivity thanks to RCA, 3.5mm Jack and Bluetooth 5.0. The wireless connection allows to keep two devices connected at a time and, by playing a song on one of them, the other one will be automatically paused if already playing. In addition to this the App allows to pair multiple Marshall products together and fine tune the sound with 5 bands EQ. Bluetooth connection is low latency and ensures no lag between video and audio while watching a movie. All the knobs of Stanmore II are digital and show the level with nice red leds whose intensity can be dimmed.
* Sound quality: if compared to the previous generation there is a difference in timbre of sound. Stanmore I was smoother with less extension to the high end. Probably with Stanmore II new tweeters have been used to increase efficiency and this led to a well detailed sound which is sharper than before. Overall sound quality is very good and the DSP makes sure that the sound is always balanced and undistorted.
* Optical audio: the Stanmore II lost the optical connection that was available in the first generation. Beware of this in case you want to use it also as a soundbar for your TV and that with a few an external converter can be added and connected to RCA input.
* Volume management: this is definitely a step forward on the previous generation. Stanmore I and the connected Bluetooth device had two different volumes that had to be adjusted individually. With Stanmore II the master volume is unique and can be set either from the speaker or from a phone. By spinning the knob on the speaker, you will see the volume on your phone increase or decrease accordingly.
* Play/Pause/Skip button: a multifunctional button, missing in Stanmore I, has been added. It is very useful.
The Marshall not only had classic looks but has an impressive sound. It will easily fill most lounge’s unless you live in a mansion, and has very good equalizer settings within the phone app. What’s nice is there’s volume and tone controls on the unit itself which plays into the retro looks somewhat and also feeds into the look of the guitar amp background of Marshall. You can control the sound quickly from these controls (just bass and treble) or with more detail using the app which has a more usual equalizer setting.
Bluetooth connection was quick and easy. The sound does distort slightly is really pushed to maximum volume, however the volume is then pretty loud and not really somewhere you’d want to go. To be honest if you needed to go that loud you’d probably be wanting to look for a proper full stereo system or at least getting a pair of these to use in combination.
Overall, really pleased with the Stanmore II. Looks great (especially if you like the Marshall guitar amp look) and has more than enough quality sound/volume for most rooms in the average house and even shouldn’t be a problem outdoors for bbq’s etc.
