having had bad experiences with extenders and routers not talking to each other, the Mercusys AC1900 Whole Home Mesh Wi-Fi System surprised me on two fronts. It was easy to install and it actual works in the nooks and crannies of the house. With a couple of tweaks (and actually reading the instructions) the system booted up successfully. The App is easy to use and has some useful functions to monitor and refresh the system. It’s not the most expensive of mesh systems, but it works and that’s the most important thing for a busy house where the computer is always working for those working at home.

    The System works fine .
Needed to get wi fi in a bedroom at
the back of an extension which previously was a dead spot.
When purchased the system was on offer so good value for the money.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersNothing to dislike about these. Astonishing performance for such a low price. They even have a 3 year warranty. Absolute doddle to set up via phone. I can even stream HD video at the bottom of the garden 50 feet from the nearest access point in the house. No longer any need for powerline plugs, wifi extenders etc. Simply wow.

My top tip would be to copy down the name and password of current wireless network Turn off the existing wireless network via your router and then give the Mecusys Wifi network the same name and password (you must turn off the existing network first). This will eliminate the need to change any settings on your devices connecting to the new network.

    Absolutely brilliant.

We were getting 6mbps on top floor of our house with standard plugin extenders but now we are getting our full 116mbps up there and everywhere, which is what we get on Ethernet straight from the router!

Don’t see the point in spending more on the TP Link deco when these are made my TP Link and work so well.

I don’t normally write Amazon reviews but had to share how great these are.

was easy to setup and link to existing Mesh system and also was very impressed with the app and the support side of said app – along with the actual performance – which to be honest i hadn’t expected to be as high as it was for the price it was advertised – but its actually incredible value for money 9/10

Very easy to install. I was going to drop a star because although there are 3 in the pack one stays at the side of the router. But having said that I now have brilliant speeds all over our house. Our bedroom is in an extension and getting a signal to it a nightmare. I have tried so many extenders without much luck. I saw these and thought I would give it a go. I was not disappointed. Speed into my bedroom is now 89meg up from 10. What I also like it is seemlss so as you move from room to room no need to switch accounts.
    Very happy

For the price you can’t fault this product really. My only reservation is that it utilises some sort of ‘cloud’ service to set up and it seems use of an Android/Iphone app is compulsory. If you don’t mind the obvious privacy concerns, the app is acceptable but doesn’t have a particularly full feature set.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe’re not gamers, but do stream on multiple devices / work from home / use Alexas & smart plugs etc. My ISP recently commented ‘well you do have 20 online devices’, when I complained about appalling wifi speeds around our home, despite 500Mbs fibre internet & a wifi extender – like that was an issue!! Surely these days, 20 devices is not unusual?!
Anyway, after creating a Halo home network, and installing the 3 cubes around our home (very simple, took moments each) – wow, the wifi speeds are amazing – & so far, very stable!
The app identified congestion on our wifi channel – and fixed the issue at the tap of my screen!
I might need one more cube, which I can buy separately & just add to the network.
Highly recommended, reasonably priced mesh system

Easy to set up and work really well, almost no loss of speed from router to furthest wifi. The app is a nice feature too as you can control your network, who is on it and set up guest access

I have a Talk Talk router and tried extenders and they have been useless. I have a 64mb DL normally via the ethernet. I installed this Mesh and couldnt belive the DL speed I got over a 100ft from the house 60mb!!!
Forget extenders and expensive Mesh this one works its cheap so dont waste your money on the big names

I have the Google mesh in one house and wanted a budget mesh network for another home. This does just as well if not better, as the nodes cope with being further apart, hence giving even better coverage. If you want wifi 6 on a budget, go for it, but the lesser model is definitely good for the average home.

Bought this to replace 3 bt wifi discs on bt 900mbs fibre. Bt discs appeared to restrict speed to 120mbs and were the ones specific only to bt router. Switched to plusnet due to price and bt discs were redundant. Bought this wonderful piece of kit and I’m getting 450+mbs in every room including the summerhouse at the bottom of the garden which the bt discs never reached and I’m only using 2 of these. Best purchase I’ve made in a long time. Don’t waste your money trying others, these are the ones you need.

Covers a large house and garden easily. Simplicity to set up via the Mercusys app. Plug one in to Ethernet and power up. Let the app do the work. Add another? Yes please! And another? Oh, go on then. Even has an excellent channel optimiser built in. Locally, everyone is clustered on channel 6 or 11 (2.4ghz) 36 (5ghz), hit the button, we’re on our own on channels 9 and 42. Brilliant.

The product is great value for money and is a great specification for the price. However, it is slightly older technology so go up to the AC1900 or above for even better Wi-Fi connectivity to multiple devices.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI live in a home where the Wi-Fi signal doesn’t go through the walls. My friend suggested this product and it has been such a saver of time for us. You connect one to your internet router and plug it in. Then plug in the other two around your home. What it does, is make a new Wi-Fi next work, by linking all the boxes together as one network. What that means is that instead of with a Wi-Fi extender where you have to keep changing network when out of range, this product keeps you on the same network where ever you are in your home or office. You don’t notice it and can forget your existing router network once it’s up and running. We have consistent speeds everywhere now with it. Installation is a little techy in that you have to download their app. It’s not hard and the instructions it tells you as you go along aren’t hard to follow. Each box then connects to each other and it’s done. I’d say give yourself 15 minutes and do as it says on the app and you’ll have no problems. It’s quite a nice feeling to do it to and have internet and a new password of your own too! 🙂 Heartedly recommended and well worth the money for the time it will save in the long run with our busy lives.

I wanted to extend Wi-Fi into the garage which is situated at the opposite side of the house to my router to run smart switches. After trying the type that plug into the electric circuits of the house with no success I decided to try this home mesh system after reading the reviews, and have to say that I am not disappointed. Although they are more expensive than I originally intended, they were reasonably easy to set up using the app — once I realised that by ‘modem’ they meant ‘router’ – all units connecting smoothly to each other. and are un-obtrusive sitting in the corner of the room. I changed the password to that of my router which meant that I did not have to change all my appliances. Now been running for about 3 months with router speeds across the house and experienced no problems.

Just had virgin m125 installed, with the hub in the middle down stairs room we had great signal throughout the house 132Mbps. Then when I was out the wife decided to relocate this eye-sore router to the under the stairs cupboard. Instantly we lost 10% of speed downstairs and 75% upstairs. Upstairs I was being kicked down to 2.4ghz, understandably this is totally unacceptable.

So I’ve got this thinking 75 what’s to lose. Just setting up the first node adjacent to the router under the stairs and we have basically gained everything back throughout the house. Regularly getting 125-128 Mbps in every room.

So what have I learned? the virgin hub in a ideal install appears totally fine. Throw in a solid brick wall lining one side of the understairs cupboard and it all goes to pot. Yet one single H50G in the same location has restored speed to 98% of what we’re paying for.

So I’ve installed the extra two nodes and in my case, within the house it never hands off to another unit, despite 50% of the walls being brick. The hand-off function does work fine though, if I go so far down the garden I’ll be passed onto the unit at the rear of the house and still be able to watch hd videos all the way to the vegetable patch 55 meters from the back door. At the boundary of the property 65 metres I can still send basic text messages via WhatsApp.

I’ll keep my eyes open for signs of over coverage as my situation is obviously an edge case.

All I can say is if your experiencing problems with your virgin equipment that’s coverage related and your on a slower service and don’t own any 6Ghz capable devices, this is a cheap upgrade. I’m totally blown away. If and when the house fills up with faster devices or we get a faster service I’ll only look to getting a WiFi 6 two pod system.

    To summarize.
It amazes me that one single unit, pro rata 25 at time of purchase can blow a “top isp” provided router out of the water. I’m sadly old enough to have been with near enough every isp over the years and four since WiFi 5 became the defacto standard and the hub 3 is the worst of the lot for household coverage once my beloved has squirreled it away.

Of course your milage may vary. Good luck

Been using this for a month now and overall I’m very impressed. The coverage is excellent – set up in a 18th century rambling house with thick walls and we’ve got good signal everywhere. Found it very easy to set up with a Sky router and I’m running Sonos products off the mesh with no issues. Units are small and unobtrusive – certainly way better all round than the BT discs I was using.
Not noticed any downsides to date.

This is a great value option to ensure a reliable and high speed Wi-Fi connection around our three storey house and garden.

Previously, we have used powerline adapters which sort of worked, but could be irritating- with the need to switch to the best unit when moving from room to room. There was also little or no signal in the garden.

The Mercusys mesh system sorted the problem: no more than 15 minutes to set up the three nodes, and speed of the connection is 10 times faster, compared to the previous set-up. A strong signal also extends to the end of the garden.

    Perfect!

Fantastic bit of kit, used to replace a standard sky router. Kept the old router and attached the new system and just switched the sky WiFi off. Reused the sky router name and password on the new system so everything just connected straight away.

I sometimes have to run optimization on the system if it plays up but it’s only a few clicks.

This is a amazing value for money mesh wifi setup. I have 3 Halo’s in a standard 3 bedroom house. I have 1 downstairs in the hallway, which is renamed Hallway, and 1 upstairs on the landing, which is renamed upper hallway., and obviously 1 next to my router, which is downstairs in the living room. I currently have a 150mbs network service , and I was getting very slow speeds in one of the upper bedrooms, but now every room in the house gives me 100mbs + ! The software on my phone is very easy to use, and i like it you can see what device is connected to what halo, and when a new device connects. Ands it also very easy to update the firmware through the app, or to restart every Halo if needed. You can basically do everything through and its very easy and informative. Couldnt ask for more really.

We have struggled to get good Wi-Fi in our garden room and upstairs of the house. This system was so easy to set up, all done and connected in a few minutes, just had to follow the instructions on the App you have to download. It allows you to set up a mesh system under a different name on your current Wi-Fi account so you don’t have to change or re-connect the devices you have connected. The devices you have trouble with in the area’s with poor reception just connect to the new mesh. We get full connection all round the house now.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersUPDATE AFTER 2 WEEKS USE.
Very happy with the mesh system, hasn’t missed a beat in the last 2 weeks. I get 500mbs coming into my BT smart hub 2. Wirelessly getting between 200-300 mbs on phones and laptops. In my office the laptop is connected to node via ethernet and then wirelessly to main node. Getting 350-400mbs using speedtest. net. I’m not too hung up on speed, any wireless device will eat into your speed and this is no exception. What I need is good coverage as I have 6 reolink cameras outside and about 8 tapo plugs all around the house. I have no problem with the signal to the cameras (all operate on 2.4ghz) and the tapos. Recommended these to a family member who also rates them. Just remember best speeds are via ethernet plugged into the node unless you want cables all over your house. I have also found that fast internet speed checker gives me speeds way higher than speedtest. It’s even given me a speed of 1gbs.

I had been using Mercusy S3 mesh for 2 years and although basic it ran my reolink CCTVs and Tapo plugs well. They were limited to 100mbs however. Recently upgraded tp BT 500mbs service and decided time for an upgrade.
They arrived on time and we easy to set up. I cloned theSSID and password from my old setting onto the Mercusys systems and had all 21 devices running within 20 minutes.
I know I get 450mbs via BT as I plugged in my laptop to the router to confirm however I could only get a maximum of 300 mbs over wifi. Good but I wanted the full speed. The only way to get this is plug my laptop into the back of one of the nodes and hey presto the 150mbs is now 420mbs.
Like everything its a compromise between speed, convience and range. On reading up on google some people expect up to a 50% reduction is speed for every node you connect to which is what I’ve basically found. Still happy with my purchase but just remember you will be lucky to get no loss from one node to another.
I bought three nodes to cover a 4 bed detached house and garden, probably would have got away with 2 nodes.
Just been through the manual and google and these apparently can be used in place of your modem, no good for me as my landline is connected to the smart hub 2 but may be useful to someone.
Also you can use these with H30 mesh nodes according to the app, again might be useful for someone. BUT make sure the H50 is used as the main node.
Will update review after a month.

So far for the cost these have been excellent. Can’t fault them at all. Can’t see what benefit there could be to spending more money for a 4 bed house. We get within 20% of the incoming speed for the vast majority of the house. Totally replaced our suppliers router with these and connect directly to the fibre ONT box.

A little on our setup. We have 1 box connected to ONT, then a cable running to far end of house to a second box. The third is entirely wireless and is placed approximately half was between the others. The app seems really good and you can assign devices to family members and create rules and schedules for specific users rather than just devices very quickly.

    Very happy.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThe Mercusys AC1900 was on sale so despite having unsuccessfully set up a mesh previously, I took the plunge. This time the setup using the iPhone app worked without any issues and the 200 mbps from the router was replicated all over the the 3 storey house with about 15% signal loss. Without this hardware I was achieving 45mbps on the top floor if I was lucky. I have set the system up as access points only and I am using them as extenders as I have not have had time to set everything up to use the new SSID which was needed for the initial setting up. So far this setup is working for me. I will add devices to this system sporadically. I am also using Cat5 from one of the units to connected to my PC on the top floor. 200mbps – excellent. It’s only been a few weeks, so provided it carries on working without problems I have no problem recommending this system.

Good value and successful boost to Virgin Media signal everywhere

I now have WiFi in pars of the house that never had WiFi. I have tried and failed with several of the type that plug in and are supposed to use the wires in the house, none ever worked for me. Before buying this I was running a 30 metre WiFi lead from the router to my daughter’s bedroom, the only way we could get her pc to get a WiFi signal. Now she has a really strong signal l, and the messy lead has gone. I placed one by the router, another above it on the landing and then the last one is in her room. Set up was very simple. Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersOverall, I think these were a fantastic buy. However, I did have some hiccups with installing via the app, which I did eventually get around. I have one cube in the lounge next to my Virgin Hub. This serves my TV and a computer via Ethernet. Then I have another cube in the office on the first floor. This serves (also via Ethernet), two desktop PCs and a NAS. Prior to installation I had a wifi signal in the lounge of 210 Mbps, and a paltry 30-50Mbps in the office, and ever worse over Ethernet using an antiquated PowerLine system.

After installation with the hub in router mode, I had 100 Mbps wifi in the office – a 2- or 3-fold improvement. But in the lounge I could also only get 100 Mbps, half what it is from the router itself. Annoyed initially, I had the idea to put the router into modem mode, after which I had to set up the Mesh network again. The result? Around 180-200Mbps wifi and Ethernet in the office and 210Mbps wifi in the lounge. And on the third floor, above the office, where I was planning to put the third cube, I get a good 150Mbps wifi. I won’t need that third cube.

Overall, despite setup issues which I resolved, because I am not tech unsavvy, this is an absolutely superb product, which I give 4.5 stars. Or 5 on here because – well, Amazon.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAlthough my router is situated in the centre of the house, Wi-Fi signal was flaky in places and the Netgear extender provided limited coverage and meant having to change access points. A mesh network seemed the ideal solution, especially as no ethernet wiring is required.

Having previous experience of the reality not matching the hype, I was very careful to retain all the packaging in case I had to return the Halo kit. I bought a more powerful (I assume) set of three units to ensure good coverage – my house isn’t 6000 square feet!

Setup was relatively easy using the app and the results were good: as promised, there is no switch between access points as the mobile device ‘sees’ only one network. But after a couple of days it malfunctioned and I was ready to return the Halo. However I gave setup another go, including rebooting the (Plusnet Hub Two) router and resetting each Halo, which restored the mesh network. It’s been OK for a couple of weeks now, so I’m hopeful of a long term solution at a sensible price.

The existing router and extender networks remain in place as they are used by fixed devices – the TV and desktop PC.

As is so often the case, you may have to persevere a bit… But a good result, thus far.

I was using a non sky router with wired sky q plus mini boxes to repeat the wi-fi signal around my home That was unreliable with frequent drops and lost signal. I switched off the wi-fi on my main router and plugged these in, they were ready to set up but they default to router mode which replicated the functions of my main router and used part of the bandwidth to perform the backhaul. In order to use my wired backhaul I had to switch to AP mode and configure it to match in with my main network settings. This wasn’t documented and was a bit haphazard at first but eventually I got it working and the bandwidth and coverage are better in that mode. Beware that tech support also had no clue because they just sent me a link to view to set them up in default mode …. However if you’re technically savvy you’ll be able to get them working and I have to say that now my wi-fi coverage is rock solid, to no dropped voice calls anywhere in the house. and as an aside the sky mini boxes don’t seem to stutter like they did when they were performing the mesh function… I’m pretty happy….

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis set of mesh nodes are very effective at blanketing the entire house with a strong signal. The app used is extremely easy to work with and setup is so easy it’s childs play. Within about 20 minutes you are up and running with a speed at the furthest node the same or not much less than your main router. It is the main router that is my gripe. You still need your ISP router as a modem. Not a big deal for most people but there are similar offerings out there from different manufacturers at this price point which include the modem so you can replace the ISP router. I have actually tried a few of them and they all offer similar performance at this price or not much more. TPlink actually own Mercusys and they have a deco product that includes a modem. This isn’t a big deal for most people though and it does simplify the setup. One great addition are the three gigabit ports on each node, allowing you to have wired connections. Three is very generous vs most of these mesh systems. Would have been the perfect system with a modem but I see the reason was to save on cost as this is TPlink’s lower cost option. In summary, brilliant WiFi coverage everywhere, unobtrusive looks and three gigabit ports per node, you can’t really go wrong with these.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersMy isp is VIRGIN MEDIA – UK I have been struggling with poor wifi reception all around my house for a very long time.

Tried the virgin hexagonal mesh system which didn’t help much at all and was considering moving ISP but seeing as the speed and reliability of the internet connection is excellent when close to the router, I thought to try this mesh system.

This system connects very easy indeed.
    Instructions are very clear.

I first tried the system with virgin media router in modem mode – works excellent! Very fast upload and download everywhere in my home, even at the back where I never could get a stable wifi connection before!!

Using the mesh system with the Virgin router in default router mode works just as well and great speed everywhere with similar speed test results.

For my self I went back to modem mode simply because it’s so fast to configure this mesh system in the app compared to waiting ages for the virgin configuration webpage to load to make changes.

I could even use my smart lights and plugs which uses 2.4GHz – no issues at all.

Now I can stream to my Apple TV 4K from anywhere with zero lag or buffering compared to when I was using just the Virgin media router. Before I could only stream in the room where the router is otherwise the stream was choppy.

I recommend this mesh system to anybody who has poor wifi reception with their current setup. 75 what a bargain!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersHad these for a few months now and the experience overall has been very good.

Coverage is excellent throughout the house and outside, which is a standard three-bedroom, ex-council property with 10m rear garden. Our set up is with two wired ‘halos’, one at the front of the house, another at the back and one running off WiFi in the middle.

Speed is also very good in having no issues streaming video from various to phones or tablet, albeit at only 1080p. Though, sometimes the TV does lag a little bit and takes a while to run in 1080p, and I suspect this is connected to the halo which is not wired since that is the closest.

Set up was pretty straightforward and app does a decent job of walking though the process, based on the premise that you are only connecting one halo by wire. It does not jump out at you if you’re looking to connect multiple halos by cable… Which resulted in me creating a network loop and causing internet issues as I had connected two to the router, rather than daisy chaining them. The app does explain this, but you have to go searching for this information rather than it being presented to you during setup.

Since then I’ve only had minor hiccups, where every other week or so, the internet will slow down considerably, and using the ‘optimise network’ function in the app will clear this up straight away.

The management side of things in the app is nice, and having the ability to control the WiFi whilst I am not at home is a bonus.

For those who finds this dials back to China, it is because the management of the network is cloud-based, with the cloud servers operating in china
