1/2 size bigger required and a bit on the narrow side

Comfortable from the first time I put them on – just like the previous 3 pairs I have owned

Waited more than 20 yrs to buy these again.
I’m not disappointed. I’ve forgotten how comfortable they are.
    Really good arch support.
    My go to shoe.

Good quality walking shoes, padded and supportive. Recommend a size up from what you usually take, the fit comes up smaller than expected.

I have a thin foot – no longer are shoes made for this – this is the second pair I have HAD to buy.
Same make but different models are way too deep (top to bottom and wide).
If you have a narrow thin foot then this is the shoe for you – no doubt – I had to use an arch rising insole due to an existing problem
Ted Baker are the only wearing shoe I can buy to fit.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have just replaced my last pair of Merrell intercepts which were bought in 2017 and used as a daily shoe as well as a hiking shoe.
I can highly recommend these shoes but you do need to buy a size larger than normal as they come up small (I’m size 11 U.K. and 12 fits perfectly).
I only had to replace my old ones as the sole was finally wearing thin. The uppers were still in excellent condition and are very strong and well put together.
While these aren’t advertised as a waterproof shoe I can honestly say my feet have never been wet or cold in these and I have found them great for year round use including some very muddy walks and hot summer hikes.
One of the most important things for a walking shoe is comfort and these won’t dissapoint- after a couple of walks they seem to mould to your feet perfectly and for me they have been a joy to wear.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThese seem a little more robust than other similar Merrells I’ve bought in the past and look good. Slightly less likely to get a soggy foot while puddle jumping but by no means waterproof. Should be a comfortable fit with the easily adjustable laces but I should have gone up a size from previous Merrells – which could have been a predecessor to these or might have been Moabs.. Whatever – err on the side of bigness

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersShoe laces replaced in less then a year, crakes appeared on the sides after 3 months… Back to drawing board…?

Good pair of shoes, just need a different material

Good comfy fit. Maybe not as grippy as I would like and definitely not waterproof. But, you can’t have everything.

Performed well on my latest mountain climb. Like the fact that the rubber soles are almost sticky. Word of warning, the entire Merrell range in general are a bit on the narrow side

Have had these for the past 7 or 8 years and each pair seems to last about 2 years with everyday use. I give mine quite a pasting, cycling and walking every day and they’ve always last ages. Already have my next pair to jump into when the current 2 year plus pair gives up – usually when the sole is completely ground down.

Some have noted that Merrell have started to use cheaper materials in recent years and I must say the last 2 pairs have eventually split a little in the grey rubbery part on the toe but can’t really complain after 2 years wear. Always very comfy even after walking miles and I always order half a size bigger than normal (8.5) in my case which fits like a glove and never had a blister no matter how far I’ve walked or ran. They don’t claim to be waterproof but I’ve been out in torrential weather and never had wet feet so would highly recommend these.

Very comfortable walking shoes without any need to break them in bearing in mind my first few walks were only 5 miles or so . As always order one size larger than normal for Merrell footwear.

hose are really nice shoes. One odd thing about them is they feel too small unless I tie them tight. Otherwise my feet will slide to the front and the feeling is they are too small.

I wore a pair of these in a recent Ultra Marathon. 60k over mixed terrain, from road work to muddy trails, gravel, hills and a few obstacles. They feel a bit heavy when they got wet, but they are a solid dependable shoe, very comfortable and for the price, a no brainer!

Excellent, practical hiking & all purpose quality shoe.
This is my fourth pair in over 10 years on near constant wear – walking, hiking, gigging – whatever, the shoe is excellent in all informal occasions and is supremely comfortable.
One point to note is that sizing appears to have changed as highlighted in some other reviews.
My previous 3 pairs over the last 10 years all fitted perfectly at size 10. However on this purchase in Aug 2020, I found the 10.5 was the perfect fit.
No evidence to suggest my feet have increased in size over the last 10 yrs so may be useful to consider.
Overall, quality remains excellent as ever and after just returning from a few days hiking in Glencoe, the shoes have performed as comfortably and robust as ever.
    Totally recommended.
    Buy with confidence!

Usually an 11 but had to get a 12 as they are quite a narrow shape. Once the right size these are great, love the look and are very comfortable – only thing I don’t like is the soles are not good on wet surfaces like wet rocks and can be slippy – tested this on a wet rock vs my non Vibram soles Merrell boots which gripped no problem. So hiked I’ll still with my boots, my these trainers are great for village and dog walks

Replacing an older pair of Merrells with these and I knew about their small fit thing and requirement for going up a size but they still seem a little snug in width this time. Third pair ive had over last six years.
These new ones are being broken in with longish dog walks which is my main reason for having them. Not used in wet yet but thats got to be a matter of time as its summer now and Glastonbury is on
One thing that is different to my last ones is the laces which are very good to tie and dont slip. There are quite a few “models” to choose from and I went for these based upon numerous reviews elsewhere and so far so good.

I like these but had to send them back. They are great quality, and ooze class. I ordered a ten when I’m usually a nine. Actually 9.5 or 10 these days. My feet must have spread! Anyway the 10s were a good fit, but there was a bit of slipping of the heel. Not enough to come off but more than I’d want. The fit in the rest of the foot was comfortably snug so I couldn’t have gone any smaller. The biggest problem for me was the raised cushioned lump in the instep. It felt far to high and was pushing up constantly in a way that did not bode well for outdoors. If it bugged me in my living room it was likely to become more of a pain outdoors. So reluctantly they had to go back

A great shoe, well made, great construction, and feels solid. As you’d expect from a Merrell.

As others have stated in reviews, there does seem to be a sizing issue on these ones – with other Merrells I’ve had before I just order my normal UK 11 and they’re perfect – but given the amount of people saying order at least a size larger, I did just that, and I’m glad I did. I went for a UK12, and they fit like any other 11 (for my feet, others may differ).
Had I ordered the 11’s, I fear they would have been a bit clippy on my feet. So well worth ordering a size up from your normal.

This could be an issue in mis-labelled stock, or American sizes that have been shipped claiming to be UK etc. Who knows…..but you don’t normally get this kind of thing from Merrell, so it must be an error of some kind. Other ones I’ve had before have all been fine, and sizing consistent.

Overall though, sizing issue aside (which I’d averted thanks to other commenters) they’re a fab pair of shoes capable of all weathers thanks to their chunky and grippy soles. Thumbs up.
