A similar device is listed for 80 on the Microsoft website, and this does a great job at a much lower price for charging Surfaces. It works very well and has good build quality, as expected, and overall I recommend this charger.

Useful to receive a good quality branded charger after our original broke. We tried a cheap chinese copy which never had sufficient power to charge our Surface. Buy cheap buy twice!

After 5 years my original charger stopped working. I needed a rapid replacement – thanks Amazon for same day delivery.
I baulked at paying 80 for the Microsoft branded replacement, but each of the non-OEM 20 alternatives seemed to have horror stories of melting components (and I noticed a number seemed to be selling the same piece of kit under different names – to mitigate the bad reviews?!?)
Manufacturers should be making electronic kit that lasts longer.

I already had a perfectly good one of these as it is the original charger that comes with the surface. However the picture suggests a lighter weight, less bulky charger like a phone charger, something that would make an ideal travel charger…. This is obviously not what it is. So though a perfectly good charger it wasn’t what I expected.
