Just what I needed, arrived quickly. Very sturdy and lightweight. Would recommend
I only received this piece of kit an hour ago, straight away took it out and gave it a good look, mount my camera on and shake about.
If you are looking for a compact, lightweight solution, doubt you can find a better deal than this. I literally can’t tell too much of a difference between this and my old trusty gitzo carbon alternative.
But as all things do not come without flaws, given it’s compact size, it’s has 5 sections which equates to 15 points of tightening. It will take longer to setup and to shrink it down and put back in bag. I personally don’t mind that.
The biggest issue is the ball clamp comes along,it is poorly made. the locking mechanism failed only after I tried mounting the base plate with my camera once. It’s stuck and it can no longer be tightened up again, luckily it wasn’t the other way round or my camera would be stuck with it. Either way the design of the ball clamp isnt convenient, I am used to those with a single lever lock with a safety catch. not much of an issue to me as I ll mount my existing ones on to it.
So be prepared to invest another well made clamp. If it weren’t for this small issue, I would have rated it a 5 star.
I was given it as a Christmas gift so unfortunately, so far, it’s only been played with at home due to how much the weather has sucked of late. It’s good quality, and weighs nothing, I can’t wait to get out with it.
This NG tripod (I have the 4-section version with the tab locks) is surprisingly solid and has many useful features. For a start, it’s got a ball and socket head, which I personally prefer to the kind with two levers. It’s more compact for one, but it’s also quicker to set. When set, the ball and socket joint is rock solid. (I would suggest resisting the temptation to over-tighten this mechanism.) The head is solid metal, including the release plate. There are two very small but high-quality spirit levels: one for horizontal, one for vertical. This is a useful feature and actually can help in getting a better composition, especially with respect to indoor and architectural photography.
The legs are metal, as is the central column. The only parts that are plastic are the release tabs, and the socket lock tab and release plate knob on the head. The legs can be set to three lock positions, and they can also be inverted to a full vertical position – in fact this was how it arrived.
Other useful features are the hook on the bottom of the central column – if you hang your camera bag or another weight off this it improves stability. This hook is removable and you can move the head from the top to the underside of the tripod. This is excellent for macro photography. Similarly, one of the legs unscrews and you can attach the head to it and use it as a monopod – that’s a feature I’ve never seen before and it’s a great little idea.
I paid 50 for it in October 2022 and I’m really impressed by how solid it is, how it has a lot of features for the price, and I really like the solid metal ball and socket head. The only criticism I’d make is that the tabs for setting the leg angle are not metal, but a very solid plastic. I guess I’m spoilt by my Manfrotto with the more rigid construction – then again, it weighs a ton. This one is very light and very, very solid. Also, a quick release mount would have been nice for the head, but at this price I doubt it would have been as robust as the no-nonsense screw-release version here.
For the price, I’m delighted with the intelligent design and solid construction of this tripod.
Lightweight and compact, packs away in it’s own little pouch
I use this for my photography and it is so good to have, the travel bag it comes with is so good to have, its light and convenie
So, if you are on a budget, then this tripod is amazing, but then again, if you’ve got a name like NG attached to it, then it’s going to be pretty good.
My only real downside is the weight and the ball head, but that’s reflected in the price bracket, so I can’t complain too much about that. The problem with the ball head is that it doesn’t have any friction control, which I wouldn’t necessarily expect on a piece of kit that price anyway.
It’s compact, very sturdy (due to the weight) and well built.
I use it for travel photography and life photography it has a nice quality to it.. no problems at the moment with me… ill update my review if anything comes up..
I bought this as a Prime Day deal for use as a projector stand and was pleasently surprised. It folds up smaller than I expected, taking up minimal storage space but giving a good height when fully opened. It’s quick and simple to put up and is sturdy when at maximum height. Would definately recommend
The quality of the tripod is impressive for the price. I have managed to buy it for under 50 during Prime day sale. It is relatively lightweight at 1.3kg with the head attached. I have been looking for a tripod that I would use occasionally when traveling and I am glad I chose this over some “professional” big brand alternatives as I have saved myself over 250. I’m not sure how this tripod will cope with some heavier camera and lens combos, but for my mirrorless camera is more than enough. This tripod is almost identical to Manfrotto Element Traveller.
Happy to attach 2000 worth of camera to it, which sort of says it all really. Not quite tall enough for me (6’3″) but really light and compact. Best tripod for price.
Look up who makes the best cf tripods like frotto and you will find it’s the same
I would definitely recommend this !
Bought as a gift for an aspiring photographer. Very popular. Currently getting a lot of use with no apparent issues.
This is a very good tripod. It’s reasonably light but probably wouldn’t take it on a long hike with me. It has plenty of settings, it’s well built and easy to use. I’d recommend it.
Bought as gift for my daughter, she was very pleased with it.
Quality of the product is awesome and it’s very handy to use. I have used the stand to capture a sunset timelapse and it took me less than 10 seconds to setup the stand for my camera.
I bought this about a year ago. Since then I’ve taken it to the top of mountains and it’s been worth every penny of the hugely discounted price I bought it for.
The frame is solid, and made up in majority of real carbon fiber. It’s light and strong and very fully featured. Has 2 spirit levels that make leveling easy.
By nature of being made of carbon if you do put enough force on it to break it (which would be difficult) it will splinter to the point of being irreparable.
Nice lightweight tripod. Appears well built and certainly has a great range of heights available.
My M100 is very light and this tripod is perfect for that. I haven’t tried it on a DSLR – and to be honest would probably use a heavier tripod for a larger camera and lens.
Love the National Geographic case. Very stylish.
Relatively light weight tripod that packs away smaller than my old tripod and this has a ball head which the previous one didn’t have. The legs unfold easily, each in 4 sections with quick hand grips. I chose the tripod height that comes to my eye level without stooping, so I can still use the evf when sunlight is strong and the back screen becomes difficult to see properly. The tripod trades some sturdiness for the weight reduction though it is still very stable. The tripod is ideal for travelling light and I find it perfect for carrying on my bicycle.
Picked this up to improve my landscape and long exposure shots. It’s very compact and folds out to a good height (I’m 6’2″ and this comes to my eye level).
It’s proved a very good addition to my kit bag with an easy release mechanism and ability to turn into a monopod for better manoeuvrability.
Really pleased with this purchase
bought this as had been using my husband’s camera tripod for a night vision camera to watch the hedgehogs in the garden. He was a little worried as the weather has taken a turn and didn’t fancy his tripod being out in the rain all night, so I bought this and I am so happy!
I’ve used it 2 nights now and it fits the camera perfectly, is sturdy enough to stay upright and out in all weathers, as well as keeping the camera high enough out of the hedgehogs line of sight so as not to bother them.
For the price of it I wasn’t expecting too much. Turns out this a great, very sturdy and of high quality. Not had chance to properly test it but I’m sure it’ll be more than up to the task.
Neat design and easily erected . Handy to have the carry bag too! Excellent value!
I am very glad with this purchase.
Very compact – as far as full size tripods go-
Stable. If windy though, you have to hang a weight to it
Great for photography. Not sure if this is the best option for videography.
Lightweight.
I love the ballhead. because It is arca swiss, I can easily use my capture clip mounting plate on it.
Sturdy, versatile, and great value for money. The compactness allows for it to be stored inside of a regular backpack. Perfect for shooting at eye level (~6 ft). Can’t speak for longevity, but the build tolerances seem sufficient for long-term use.
Product delivered on time. Excellent quality and value for money.
I got this in a black friday deal for 24 and I’m more than happy with it for that price, in fact I would of been happy to pay full price. A good sturdy tripod with no real faults.
I am very impressed with this little tripod. It is high enough for me to use at eye level (5 feet 9) and I find it sturdy enough for a Nikon z6 with lens.
Packs down very small and is at least as well built as a much more expensive Manfrotto carbon tripod I also own.
Outstanding features: twist locks, reverse folding legs make it very compact, bag hook for stability, detachable monopod, legs that lock at three angles, arca Swiss style camera plate. It is light too.
The ball head seems is just about sufficient but not super high quality. For the price this is forgivable.
Really pleased.
Sturdy tripod for the price. It’s compact lightweight. Build quality is good not the best. For an overall outdoor tripod it’s nice. Love the twist lock mechanism it’s a lifesaver. I would recommend it.
Goes up to nearly shoulder height (and I’m 6 foot 6), so very comfortable for getting a high camera position, and packs down small to fit hidden away in a 13l messenger bag.
Not used in the field but I’m more than happy especially for the price. Plus, being carbon fibre it will hopefully not be as cold as aluminium in winter. 🙂 I 100% would recommend (when /if it comes back in stock that is…)
This is a great tripod for taking to the beach or going off to take landscape pics out in the mountains or even for film work. I use it for photos and video. I have a heavy duty one for most of my film work but I do like that this can be thrown over the shoulder in its bag and carries nice and light to wherever I go.
Handy little tripod, I got it for a small projector and it fits well, I do have an issue either the amount of packaging tho!, this is why I attached this particular photo.
Way too much packaging and had to collect the parcel as it was too big for the parcel motel.
Amazing tripod for the money, was the best for value carbon fibre tripod i could find. Nice and light dor carrying around.
Monopod option is perfect and can even be used like a walking stick.
Would deffinately recommend.
I was pleasantly surprised when this tripod turned up. Its super stable and has little rubber feet to make it more secure, turns into a monopod so multifunctional and the quality is incredible and definitely exceeded my expectations! I would recommend this to anyone. Its easy to use and comes with a bag. Its lightweight but I imagine after carrying it all day you’d need a rest. Great to just grab out of the car for a few hours.
One main issue I had was the legs locking system. One of the joints seemed harder to lock down than the others – I had to exert more force than the others. This might just be cause it is new, but it makes me scared that I might accidentally snap it if I push down too hard.
Absolutely fantastic.I wasn’t sure if this would hold my canon with 200mm lens, but it does no problem.for to have it more sturdy you can hang your backpack of it,if windy,if you feel it’s necccesery. Also it is extremely lightweight.I think it is great quality for really good price.Highly recommended.
Headline says it all 🙂
i have no quarms at all about trusting it with my gear – well done.
Brilliant! Better quality I excepted for that price. So so happy with the product!!!!
