I use this as a hair light and it is great. The battery life is not great though, about an hour or two. So I keep it constantly plugged in so the battery is already to go when I am.

    Review:
If you’re looking for a linear tall style light, this is a great option.

I tested this out doing product photography, and also portrait photography. It worked extremely well for product photography when reflections were low, but not so well on items that were highly reflective. It was averaged for portrait photography. I likely would not use it again for that as I have larger softer lights.

The mounting process was easy and install was very intuitive.

    Pros :
    Easy to use
    Size
    Brightness
    Easy to mount

    Cons:
    None!

    Conclusion:
    I would recommend this produc

This video light stick is excellent. I love how compact it is but despite that, it is really, really well made and feels extremely solid. The light is excellent and is very nicely diffused and natural looking. Charging this is really easy and any random battery bank works.

The light has a threaded base which works very well with my gorillapod and holds in place well.

    Pros:
    – Solid build quality. Light weight while still feeling quite solid in hand
    – Very easy to set up and use. The controls are physical buttons on the back with just a few buttons that will let you control the brightness and color temp
    – Offers much more even lighting as compared to something like a ring light. I much prefer the more diffuse lighting on this compared to other typical one stop lights that I’ve used
    – Love that this comes with a carrying case that holds everything together

    Cons:
    – This does feel a little pricey for what it is

    Overall:
I’ve been really happy with this LED light. It’s well made, light weight and very easy to use. It offers an excellent, even lighting experience that looks great in person. The barn door shutters also let you focus the light into more of a line in case you want some more textured lighting. While this does feel a bit pricey for a relatively niche style light, I’ve been really happy with this. 100% would recommend!

This LED strip light with barn doors is an excellent choice for those fantastic low-light photography moments. I mostly use it to highlight my subject, and it works perfectly. The trick is those barn doors. They are indeed exactly what I have been looking for. They are sturdy, stay in place, and do an excellent job of redirecting light to where I want it to go.
If you have the budget for this light, I recommend picking one up. You won’t be disappointed with the results.

Well priced rechargeable light wand. The unit comes with a nice carrying case to keep it safe, and everything together. Including the removeable barn doors, USB charging cable and a strap that you can mount to the handle, if you are going to physically hold it. There is also a female thread on the bottom of the handle so you can thread it onto a tripod and use it that way, if you prefer. The light wand itself is really well built, made of aluminum and is a little heavier than I expected, I am assuming because of the rechargeable battery. The light wand is easy to use, and has a dimming feature and adjustable light temperature from 3200K, yellow light like an incandescent bulb up to 5600K, a true crisp bright white. It is plenty bright enough for highlighting objects, or even using as a flood light . Overall, a really well built product, at a good price that should last the test of time. I hope this helps in your decision making.

    First thoughts:
    Pros
    Rechargeable.
Lightweight design, can be held or used on a tripod.
    Directional barn doors.
    Brightness and light temperature control.
    Remote and manual control.

    Cons
    Nothing major to note.

Another great bit of studio that adds convenience and portability. Light enough not to cause any significant fatigue when using it handheld for product photos/video, and easy enough to stick a QR plate on the bottom to mount it on a tripod.

Details and things to note (See pictures):
Handheld light wand with manual controls built into the handle with a nice bright display, an LED lighting element in a strip above the handle, and movable metal barn doors to direct the light.
With 1110 LUX @0.5m and around 316 LUX @1m, this makes for a useful fill light.
A wide beam of light can be achieved by holding the wand horizontally and opening up the barn doors, or closing them down and holding it vertically for a narrow beam.
A remote that mirrors the controls on the handle is included.
USB-C chargeable for use without wires (a USB-C cable is included in the kit).

    Final thoughts:
The addition of the barn doors gives me the option of focusing the light on a more specific area of the subject for creative shots, or simply to reduce the spill of light onto surrounding surfaces and cameras.
I’ve added this to my main home studio gear and I’m more than happy to recommend this as a handy directional light source.

A useful handheld light wand with directional barn doors.

Wow, this is a hefty light bar. Not only is it mostly aluminum, it feels heavy duty and very sturdy. We use this for photography, specifically evening/night photography, and this light bar is extremely useful to create ambiance.

First the bar itself, it is fairly large but not awkward to hold. I prefer this bar style compared to the box style, just easier to hold and manipulate light. The included barn door light focusing pieces are useful to direct light into shapes if needed. And easy to remove when not needed.

The bottom has a tripod female attachment port, so it is good to know using this with tripods, especially with the included remote control is simple. Speaking of the remote, its very basic but works as intended. No complaints the.

Overall, the features include variable light and colour temperature settings, perfect for creating moods, ambiance which really creates unique styles of photography. I am still learning all the time, so I’ve found methods I’ve never tried or seen, but once I look into it, the community is amazing, they’ve literally thought of everything.

One complaint I do have, is that I wish there was ‘favourites’ settings, so I ca quickly toggle between multiple settings without needing to manually shuffle through all the settings.

I am a wedding photographer and often these handheld light sticks tend to do the job better for me than any flash since I can use a steady light, nail the exposure and move on long before I’d have time to set up and adjust flashes. This light is super easy to use, adjust and carry. The case is nice and easy. The light adjusts to balance most ambient lights. You can hold it or use a tripod. The battery also lasts a decent amount of time. Definitely recommended especially vs. the comparable ice lights and the like.

I have decided to take up photography and this light is ideal. It comes well packaged & flat packed so perfect for storage.

This light is completely multi use it has so many purposes. It can be hand held for you to move it around for where you want the light to be positioned or it can be put on a light stand so it can be used at one angle.

It’s actually alot bigger than I thought, it’s a good decent size. Feels excellent quality, it’s durable it’s got a good weight to it.

The features of this light is amazing. It has multiple different light settings. It also has cool light settings & warm light settings so that can create so many different image effects.it has doors on the light so you can control the light they are easy to move.

It also has a colour temperature so you can alter from different colours from cool- warm. There is so much light variety for this light.

I have fully charged this light it comes with the charging cable so far after quite abit of use I have not had to
Charge it yet. So this is ideal for long photo shoots such as christenings & weddings. Doesn’t need plugged in so you can take it anywhere.

It also comes with a nice tidy little case to store all the parts in. Which is great to carry on photo shoots or to store away for safety. It also comes with a good little durable remote. Which means you can control it from a distance and alter the light as you go.

    This is a great example
Of a photography light. I think it is great for the price over all good quality & durable. You will be able to use this for multiple photo shoots. Excellent value for money.

Points forts / Points faibles :

    Conclusion :

Another stunning product from Neewer, the CL124 Light Wand. Everything about the light is premium from the packaging and the carry case. The light performs flawlessly, in every department. The internal rechargeable battery is charged via the included USB-C cable. Once fully charged you get a decent amount of working time from the lamp. The controls on the handle are easy to operate. The LCD display makes choosing the required brightness or temperature quick and easy.
If you prefer the lamp can be operated via the included remote control, two AAA batteries required (not supplied). I particularly like how you can attach the wand to tripod if required. The lights barndoor is easy to remove too if needed.

    Usages multiples

Light painting – only to illuminate your subject. That photo is steel wool spinning, not using this light. Vlogging? Sure – but is that room full of smoke? I really hate doctored product photos. This light is good enough on it’s own merits.

Pros: Nice carrying bag. Good remote. Metal and sturdy barn doors. Bright with easy settings – 1 thru 10. Tunable color from warm to cool white.

Cons: The square handle is not very comfortable, plus the controls can be easily pressed by accident. I use a padded, round handle for my gimbal screwed in the base. There’s a lot of reflective light leak backwards from the gap in the barn doors. If you’re photographing from behind the light this can be a real issue. There needs to be felt or cloth here – I’m going to add some Velcro tabs so I can stick some cloth on the back when needed.

As you can see from my photos, it does an excellent job shaping light. The barn doors are individually movable. It’s a really handy light that can be attached to a handle, tripod or light stand.

Better than expected. Nice carrying case, bright. Simple to adjust.

    Effectiveness

The LED panel is made up of 124 integrated LEDs. The brightness can be changed to one of 10 levels of brightness. The colour temperature can be changed from 3200-5600K. Brightness and colour temperature can be controlled from the control panel on the wand or via the remote control. Below 40% charge only the lower five brightness levels are available. The barn doors can be used to shape the light as required for controlling how the subject is illuminated.

    What I liked

Integral 2500mAh rechargeable battery. No trailing electrical cables.
Remote control allows easy use when mounted on a light stand
10 Channels available so can adjust multiple light wands individually.

    What I did not like

” socket is only available on one end
Not comfortable to hold for long periods due to square shaped handle.
    No special effects
Limited power remaining indicator, two types of display on the power indicator for 40-100% or 0-40% only

    Summary

Light wands or light sticks are a fairly new method for photographic illumination and the Neewer CL124 is well up to the job. This Neewer light wand is a well-made product with a good set of accessories and competitively priced. In terms of openness I was sent this item to review and I hope you found my review useful.

    Pros

BRIGHTNESS: 10 levels of brightness available, the highest outputting a nice amount of light.

CCT RANGE: Good range of temperature from 3200K to 5600K. The displays shows the first two numbers, so if it’s showing ’55’ that means it’s 5500K.

LIGHT COVERAGE: The barn doors give you more control over how narrow or wide the light coverage is. You can also easily detach them should you wish not to use them.

VERSITILITY: This light can be held or mounted to a tripod or attachment with a 1/4″ thread.

PORTABILITY: It’s easy enough to carry, especially as it comes with a carry case. The interior is cut out perfectly for the light and is well padded to help protect it during transport.

    Cons

GRIP: I’m not a huge fan of the handle a it lacks grip; with it being top heavy, you can feel the light slipping out of your hands as you adjust the settings with one hand. This could have easily been solved by adding some rubber or silicone around it.

An excellent product here, the light can be controlled with ease adjusting the colour warth and brightness. The barndoors make the direction of the lightsource easy to control.

This is very lightweight and can easily be handled with a single hand. The control buttons are ideally placed for this making usage a breeze.

It does come with a remote control and a tripod can be fitted so there’s some flexibility on how you choose to use this.

Overall an excellent product here, would definitely recommend.

The kit comes in a decent bag, which is mostly foam inside, so good protection for the light, albeit a times a bit hard to squeeze it in.
The light itself is powerful enough and versatile, with several levels of intensity and decent colour settings.
The barn doors work quite well, without causing spillage.
This means that, besides the tipical use as a direct light, it can also be used pointing at walls or other large surfaces while avoiding spilling direct light on the subject.

It is definitely solid, and reasonably light as well, albeit not a feather.
I like that the the barn hinges are tight, so no chance the flaps might move around accidentally.

    All considered I am happy.
The price is perhaps a touch high at 82, I would expect it to be around the 60 mark, but if you need a linear barn light is pretty decent.

Honestly, I can’t say enough good things about this light. It’s now my go-to light for every product image or video I post on Amazon. For handheld use, it is very well weighted and balanced, with a nice firm handle to grip (where the controls are also conveniently located for easy thumb press). It becomes a natural extension of your arm, so movement is easy and fluid — there’s no jerking of the light in your videos.

In terms of light features, it has 10 brightness levels and 25 color temperature levels from 3200K (warm white) to 5600K (cool white). See the video for a quick demo of these features. (Note: my camera automatically keeps adjusting for brightness and temperature to try to keep the lighting effect consistent, so the video doesn’t truly show the variabilities in these features, but, trust me, they are there.) The bottom of the handle has a standard -inch screw port to mount this light upright on any tripod. And if you do, it comes with a remote to control the brightness and color temperature settings instead of using the handle controls. The remote and light also smartly pair via 10 available RF channels. If you end up adding more of these lights to your equipment arsenal, this will give you the option to control all lights with one remote by using the same channel, or, for example, to control forward versus background lighting separately by using a separate channel and remote for those lights in the foreground vs. those in the background. It also comes with a nice carrying case to protect and transport the light.

And in terms of a tripod I did purchase a low-mount tripod to specifically use with this light. I selected one from Amazon without even realizing it turned out to be one manufactured by the exact same company as this light Neewer! And the tripod is a work of art as well. Very sturdy, very stable. Honestly, I’m so impressed with this company’s products. (If you’re interested in the tripod, search for “Neewer Portable Desktop Mini Tripod 20 Inches.” There seem to be two very similar models I purchased the one with the red locking clips on the top of each tripod leg. Or search on “ASIN B07FKDH3BC” for the one I purchased. Very happy with this tripod — perfect pairing with this light.)

One last comment is on battery duration. The Amazon product page does warn that it has only about 35 minutes on a single charge when used continuously at the brightest level. And I can confirm this is the case. I’m used to using plugged in lights, so I’ll set up shots and videos with the lights always on. You need to be diligent about turning on this light only when ready to shoot to conserve battery power. But another really nice feature — if the battery is getting low, the light will automatically drop to 50% power both as a warning that a charging is needed and to conserve battery power, potentially allowing you to still finish your shoot at the 50% level.

Bottom line: this is an awesome light!

The addition of the barn doors to this light stick enable a constant light equivalent of the strip box without the faff of wire supports and Velcro. By source it is a hard light but there is still enough output that a diffuser can be mounted separately between it and the subject and an effect recorded.

The light temperature (CRI of 97 claimed) is adjustable via the control on the handle between 32k and 56k (warm to daylight) and, at maximum power (at which the battery will last for about 30 minutes), it covers about 2 stops at 2.1 meters (7 feet, a 1 second exposure reduced to a 1/3 second). As this is about the maximum distance I would use it – normally a lot less – it comes within the category “definitely handy”. There appears to be some variation in output between the bottom and the top but not enough to render it a problem in my use case. There are 10 increments between the lowest and highest outputs. It is all controllable via a remote, which worked well enough, but that’s not something I would normally use.

The barn doors themselves are adjustable through something like 300 degrees, that is, everything I can think of for its potential uses. The doors (2 counts as one set in Neewer speak) are black matt either side, which helps to control reflections, and firmly attached to the light.

The unit is light in weight without feeling flimsy and this adds greatly to its usability. There is a 1/4 inch female screw mount on the bottom of the handle for mounting to a tripod or other bracket and that, with the units relative light weight, means it will be easy to use mounted to a ball head. It is charged via a USB-C slot and a shortish cable is provided. This all comes in a well constructed zip fastened carry case with handle and a foam cut out to hold the unit securely in transit.

    Worth considering.

If you are serious about your video blogs then you need a light source like a light stick to illuminate the object to show clarity, this light stick does just that. It illuminates the object perfectly, be it a picture of your face the light puts everything in focus.
You can also control the brightness and warmth via the controls and the remote. However, the two controls don’t sync. If you change the settings on the remote the light will respond but when you change the settings in the light, it will not update the remote. Annoying but not necessarily a deal-breaker.
Ultimately, good light stick that has a few quibbles.

It’s not too light in weight when using, but again not too heavy to carry with you.
Comes with a nice bag, which makes it easier to carry with you.
I can attach this to a tripod as it has a standard female screw on the bottom.
The light has 10 intensity settings as well as two light types.
It has two individual wing flaps to adjust how wide you want the light to cover.
Good for using in shadowy areas, especially if your lens requires a bit more light.
It can help with how you want your shadows to form.
I will be using, just to ensure some of my nature photos come out with less post processing (hopefully).
It has worked fine in bringing out some wooded area flowers colours, and also reducing noise in the picture.
    Charges using usb c.
    Easy to use.

This is a review of the Neewer Handheld LED Light Stick. It comes in a box with its own well made carry bag, together with a small wrist strap – it fits in at the base, next to the tripod mount screw – see photos – a remote control, charging lead plus instruction manual. Once a read of the instructions, then a charging session proved very quick but suspect it may have had some power it beforehand. In use it’s easy to switch on and control, with either the switch on the light or via the remote, to use the various lighting effects to their full advantage as the choice and the adjustable brightness is very easy to control – its rated as being3200K~5600K 1500Lux CRI 97+ with10 levels of controllable brightness. The remote control (requires 2 AAA size batteries, not supplied) reacts well and handy to set the light up to adjust it from where your camera is without running backwards and forwards. It can be either hand held or mounted on a lighting stand or tripod as it has a standard size thread at the base for so doing. Note: the lightning stand and ball and socket head in the photos are mine and are NOT supplied but I merely used to illustrate their possible use. The ‘barn doors’ or side baffles are handy for directing/aiming the light output to where you want it. The light has a built-in 2500mAh lithium battery with the universal USB-C port for charging so you won’t get stuck anywhere for power. Considering its size, and its power output, it’s one of those devices that is handy for on-location shooting such as commercial or wedding assignments as its small in size but big in actual light output.

Small in size, but big in actual light output.

Short version of review… Excellent, not perfect as light is not consistent across the length of the strip, but definitely a great portable and versatile variable light source that is lightweight, and controllable from the Light Stick handle or the remote control.

    More detail:
First of all the packaging … absolutely stonking packaging – the whole Light Stick with the barndoors attached come in a very well padded, material storage carry bag. And the carry/storage bag itself is extremely well made – the zip runs freely and smooth and all the stitching is done well with no fraying of any of the material or any loose stitching.
Also in the bag is the remote control, short USB-A to USB-C charging cable and a nice hand/wrist lanyard that can be attached to the Light Stick.

    The Light Stick:
The stick itself is very light and easily held in one and still operate the buttons with the same hand. It has a good clear 2 digit number display to show the colour strength of the light (32 – 56 = 3200K-5600K) or the brightness percentage (00 – 10 = 0% to 100% in steps of 10%). There is also a 1/4″ screw thread in the bottom of the handle, so can easily be attached to a light stand or tripod/monopod.

    The Light:
This provides a good light source that can be easily controlled wrt brightness and colour warmth while holding it, and the barndoors are fantastic – give great control over the amount and direction of the light.

However I did notice visually (just by looking at the light), that there was quite a big difference between the brightness at the bottom of the light (near the handle), compared to the top of light strip. The bottom was a lot brighter than the top – it was not consistent across the whole of the light strip. At 100% brightness I could NOT look at the bottom part of the light, but could quite easily look at the top part of the light strip.

So using a basic light meter I measured the Lux – setting the light stick to 5600K at 100%, I measured 1570 Lux at the bottom, down to 430 Lux at the top of the light strip. (I measured with the meter touching the light and also at a 6″ distance – different numbers at the two distances, but same varied results with bottom being a lot brighter than the top)

Doesn’t necessarily mean that is going to cause a big problem if the subject being lit is some distance away, but it would have to be taken into consideration when being used for close up lighting and you’re needing a very consistent light across the subject.

    The Remote:
This is a good size and has a simple LCD display and a couple of buttons to control the brightness and colour warmth.

However there is two small issues with the remote:

The LCD display, in that to see it clearly with sharp contrasted numbers being displayed, then you have to tilt the remote down from eye level… if you look at the LCD display straight on while holding the remote vertically at eye level , then you can’t read the LCD display, the digits are extremely faint !

The remote is one way only – transmit TO the Light Stick only. There is no sync between the Light Stick settings TO the remote settings. So if you change the settings using the controls/buttons ON the Light Stick handle, and then use the remote, then the settings on the remote immediately overwrite whatever the settings that were set using the Light Stick buttons.

Despite the non consistent light across the length of the light strip and the remote’s small issues, at 81.99 (at the time of review), I still reckon this is a great portable, variable light source and would recommend it – just be mindful if you need a really consistent light across close subjects.

Great portable variable light source - light not consistent across the strip, but still recommend 👍

This affordable high CRI ,flicker free ,white light stick is very nicely done and being honest I was positively supprised with some of the features available, product specification, quality of the materials, product finish, same as the most important light quality output which is great for the money paid in the budget range and being more than affordable choice for anyone interested in the photography business ! Anyway ,if you will decide to purchase this equipment you can expect to get and operate ten brightness levels with adjustable colour temperature ranged between 3200K – 5600K LED . This pro amateur ,home enthusiast, semi professional or professional barn door or wing flaps adjustable light stick is ideal for shooting portraits, weddings, photography, tik-toks , picture or video blogs ,home studio or advertising. Can be use free hand or stand mounted that lightweight .Anyway , product specification and onboard standardized hardware claim it’s got built-in 2500mAh lithium battery with USB-C port for charging and remote controller for easy use . Battery discharge time with 50% brightness set up and continuous use would be somewhere around 2hours and 15minutes witch is plenty enough for the job to get it done proper.Overall ,this is very nice light stick and more than handy for anyone interested in photo or video industry amateur or pro .
