I bought in haste and found it is great backing up computers but draws no power from an iphone so isn’t seen! Didn’t read all the tech and specs. Will keep, but still need a decent sized portable ssd drive for my iPhone?!
Works fine in this capacity as a scratch drive for temporary files with photoshop, giving me extra memory, and without programme stalling and giving messages about low memory and that it can’t execute operatio
My 2019 Nvidia Shield Pro wasn’t starting up correctly and I had read that this can be caused by using a thumb drive as external storage which gets too hot, which I was (128GB Sandisk).
This is detected immediately on startup and doesn’t get hot, my Shield is working perfectly again. 5/5 stars.
The drive is small, thin and light weight (Think of a Milky Way bar!). I tested this drive on my PC and the speeds given match what has been said in description.
I am lucky to to have a motherboard which has a USB 3.2. Gen 2 USB A&C ports at the back. On the front PC case (NZXT H510) I have a USB-C port and USB A port, unfortunately the motherboard does not have a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Front header, so the speeds here are only at 5Gbps (USB 3.1 Gen 1).
The first image with speeds at 458 is the front IO ports, this is a decent speed with quick transfers even though it is not at is maximum speed. This was tested at 1 GiB.
The second image with the speeds at 509 was tested on the USB 3.2 Gen 2 port 1GiB, as you can see the speeds have increased quite a bit both read and write, with surprisingly writes being slightly faster (but we could probably ignore this was this was only 1 test)
The third image shows tests using 16GIB and the speeds are still fast on the Gen 2 port at over 500MB/s
The fourth image this time using 10 16 MiB data and the drive speeds increase to it’s advertised 550 MB/S impressive!
The 5th image shows copying files from a Kingston USB data traveller (128GB) to the SSD 11GB of data (ISO files of Linux OS) this took around 60 seconds and stayed at a consistent speed of 200MB/S very good!
The 6th images shows copying from the SSD to my internal NVME (Downloads folder) again 11GB of data and this was being written at 460MB/s (My internal drive reaches reads/writes at around 2GB second).
The 7th image shows copying the same files 11GB of data from my desktop PC to the SSD this was being done at speeds of 387MB/s these are very good speeds for a small drive.
Lastly, the last image shown at speeds of 44MB/s this occurred when using a USB 3.0 cable so be warned you need a good quality reliable USB 3.2. Gen 2 cable to get the maximum speeds, the speeds may also be affected by external USB Hubs/Docks.

LINUX TESTS
———————————
I briefly tested this on Kali Linux copying the same files (no images) I was getting speeds of 360MB/s writes copying from laptop to SSD. (The laptop has an NVME at 2GB/s speed) This was with the drive at around 200GB capacity.
Once I cleared this and started at 232GB (The actual disk space useable) I first initially got 700 MB/s for smaller 2GB files and then the speed dropped down to 400/500MB/s writing files to SSD from laptop. This is still very good speed, it took 20 seconds copying those files compared to 10 minutes when I copy from my USB Stick!
Overall the price/value ratio is excellent the speed on the drive means I know longer need to wait 10 minutes for files to copy. One of the reasons I purchased this was because of the slow file transfers of USB sticks (looking at you Kingston!), this solves that problem and I can quickly get back to work.
The drive is small enough to fit a pocket back.
There are no negatives about this, personally I didn’t need the leather pouch think it’s just additional waste and not environment friendly, but this is a minor personal issue.
I use them for transporting/backing-up large video files, and find the transfer speed to be excellent, the capacity convenient and the form factor ideal in that it takes up hardly any space in my laptop bag.
I’ve bought four so far, had no failures, and expect to be ordering again as multiple projects require cheap, high-capacity, tiny-form-factor storage.
Item arrived quickly – complete with cable, adapter and case.
I am using this to play downloaded films on my TV – yes, I could stream, but prefer a more direct approach.
Well built, doens’t look cheap. Time will tell about how reliable it is, but I am not using it to store important files.
Impressed so far and have decided to buy another as a gift.
Does exactly as I expected. It connects without a problem and has the expected storage capacity. It does not, pf course, transmit or receive data as fast as they claim, these external drives never do. How these people get away with this sort of exaggerated speed claim is beyond me. I guess we all have to accept that external drives are never as fast as claimed and live with it.
This turned out to be even smaller and slimmer than the photos made it appear to be, The outer case is aluminium and it feels very well made. I bought it to store FLAC audio files to be played in my car so the only minor complaint I have is that the supplied cable was USB-A to USB-C where the car is fitted with USB-C. However, since this was replacing a drive for which I’d purchased a short right-angled USB-C to USB-C cable to fit the location in the car I simply re-used that cable. Overall I’m delighted with it: it’s smaller and more rugged than the drive it replaced and fits much better in the centre console.
Item as described, small, fast and large capacity for a very reasonable price. So far so good, seems to do the job as expected.
Bought netac 250gb ssd for my gaming pc. Battlefield 2042 took too long to load each new round from hhd, vehicles all gone and flags being captured before I even loaded the new map. But on this ssd and amazing results. Can’t believe how fast it is. Note you need to format and change it to NFTS.
Plugged it into my MacBook Pro on receiving it and it’s been working fine as a secondary ssd to my main storage. Excellent value for money.
Great little portable drive, well constructed and performs really well. Ideal size for moving around with.
At first I wasn’t that impressed, I was getting a rock solid 41.8MB/s, and tbh that’s actually better than most thumb drives I’ve bought over the years, they’ll do faster but in very short bursts then it’s down to 20MB/s if lucky. But then I decided to use the cable provided and adapter, I then saw the speed I wanted and more.
It does slow down, just like everything. But that transfer I’ve shown is for Borderlands 3, a 93GB game with lots of large and small files, it’s a challenging transfer and remember, it’s a copy not a cut and it sustained over 450MB/s for at least 60% of the transfer before slowing down. The entire transfer took roughly 15 minutes due to the slow down but that’s to be expected, remember, everything will slow down on large transfers. Heat and Cachce can’t be sustained for that long so please, be aware of how the technology works.
It’s a FANTASTIC portable SSD solution for the price and I’ve actually bought another because I’m that impressed, I also filled the drive up to 20GB left so it is definitely it’s advertised size! (Remember 250GB is not 250GB in Windows, it’s more around 232GB which is to be expected, it’s how the numbers work 1000/1024)
I bought this device to duplicate and save all the data I have on the SSD, on my PC (DELL). I needed about 250 GB. This seems to be perfect. It is light and not that much bigger than a USB key. You can plug it in and it works straight away with my standard PC. You can copy data/ files across very fast. From what I can see, given the price, it is a very good product to back up data or if you need extra storage. It comes with the cable you need and a sleeve to keep it in. I am very pleased with it. I bought this after upgrading my Mac to an SSD to store video files on externally to avoid a bottleneck from storing them on a mechanical drive. I only needed a small capacity and for this price you cannot go wrong. Small, lightweight and so far reliable!
Instead of replacing the internal HDD in 2014 iMac I plugged this in and installed the OS onto this drive and made it the default drive. Original internal drive now used as a timemachine backup.
The Netac is at least x5 faster than the original spinny drive. Great solution.
