This is unmanaged but does support POE
I have all my wifi node connected to this switch and tghey are now powered over POE
I also intalled a UPS so now if I have a power outage in the houseoffice, my internet and wifi stay up for hours. So cool and handy if we have an energy crisis
I bought this to fit in an outside gate controller box. The small size and decent output has allowed me to run a couple of cameras and a video doorbell out with only a single cable back into the house.
I guess if you’re looking at it you know the specs and benefits of the poe+ output.
I bought this to connect with an Eero hub – taking the mesh Wi-fi system and allowing for POE devices (Eero sockets don’t support POE).
These Netgear routers are always exactly what you want them to be. You have full customisation to tinker with the settings if necessary, which is great for techies. However, they also just work straight out of the box to simply plug in, click in the network cables you need to connect, and everything quickly works just how you want it to.
It’s unlikely I’d ever go to another brand for these POE Routers – these are exactly what you want and the pricing is always really good.
Simple unmanaged POE switch which is exactly what I wanted to power a Cisco Access point and some Swann security cameras. Just out the box, Plug & Play.
I used this to take an existing Cat 6 cable and convert into an upstream feed for a new Unifi CCTV system. Mounted in the loft, it acts as the hub for the cameras, that then route back to the main house switch. Being fanless is great, as its in the loft above bedrooms, and being wall mountable it is tidy too.
Great bit of Kit and unlike other switches has 4 POE ports and one to take the incoming ethernet to the router. I had to buy this one as when I brought the 8 port POE from NETGEAR to power my 8 Network PoE Cameras I was one port short. An error on my part.
I recently purchased some Access Points and a PoE Managed Switch and didn’t want to use up uneccessary sockets. BOOM, enter the Netgear. I plugged this switch into the mains with the supplied power adaptor and plugged in my AP’s and PoE managed switch and VOILA, as if by magic, they were all alive and kicking. Uplink was from my main router (non-PoE)
I mounted it under the stairs and it has lived there ever since, haven’t rebooted it once since installing. Now that’s how you do it, well done Netgear 😀
Used to take a router feed with one ethernet port to this switch. This in turn enabled me to run a unit that required Power over Internet as well as connect my TV and printer. First class item.
Good replacement for Ubiquiti’s own 8 port switch with 4 poe ports as much cooler running, although I purchased this as a backup after a bricked Cloud key (1st gen) and having to install new Cloud key (HD type) and re-adopt 4 AP’s thinking of the possibility of failure of Ubiquiti switch after 3 years + if de-powered and/or re-adopted.
In the event the GS305P ran so cool ,that after about an hour I decided to leave it in place and accept the loss of the “topology info” ie what is connected to a switch port , other reviews have commented on the benefits of un-managed switches after power failure
I purchased this to power two Ring Elite cameras mounted in my garage, to reduce power sockets and uplink to a Netgear mesh AP, as its an unmanaged switch, it worked just by Plug and Play.
its passively cooled and wall mountable, and has a metal case that will be familiar to long term users of Netgear switches
Not sure why there is a need to “dumb down” the description by calling it an “ethernet splitter” that phrase is just incorrect on so many levels! 😉
I’ve got some Ubiquiti APs that I don’t want to run individual power adapters for. I was looking for a POE switch that could do gigabit as my previous one only did 100mbps. It wasn’t a problem until my broadband speed increased to 200mpbs!
This is a simple cheap switch with POE and it will do me until such time as I have the motivation to move to a managed network. It plugged in without issue and has been running for a week – simple
This PoE switch is unmanaged, so there are no settings that reset to default creating IP address conflicts as occurs with the TP Link switches (don’t buy these). After a power outage, this one immediately starts working again, providing power and network connectivity without any faff. And works perfectly the first time, right out of the box. And also costs less than the TP Link PoE router. Excellent for use with CCTV cameras and WiFi extenders.
Easy and quick to deploy. I particularly like the fact that the input is separated from the 4 main POE. It is easy to ask someone to install it in another room, and you don’t waste POE on that one port.
If you need a managed poe switch for home or small bizz this is it. Netgear never lets me down.
Perfect for basic home poe network
Plug and play and sile

its really helpful for the job, i got it for CCTV cameras. really good and reliable

5/5 – highly recommended

Powering an IP security camera and works well. Very straight forward to set up.

Great little switch – plugged it in connected a couple of POE WAPS and they worked straight away.
ad no issues with it for over a month of working. That’s all you can ask.

The Netgear GS305 is ideal for Homeworking, literally plug and play up to 4 devices. I would recommend for home and office use.
