After trying for years to get a WiFi extender that reliably extended my Wi Fi, The Netgear AX1600 does it perfectly, I even have WiFi in my garden. Great product!

Download the ap, log in, plug in the extender and away you go. Simple and effective.
Nicely designed & engineered product as expected from Netgear kit.
Installed very easily & setup in minutes, very pleased with the quality, would recommend.
Neede to find away of easily adding device’s and extending my WiFi this device bypasses comparability mode and adds device’s in seconds great peace of ki
Like many people, I now work in hybrid mode, with many days spent working from home. As my home office is on a different floor than my broadband router, the Wi-Fi connection kept dropping out, and my download speeds were around 100 Mbps when I was connected (I have a 900 Mbps service). After installing this extender, I plugged in my laptop via an adapter, and now have a steady connection with an everage download speeds of 200 Mbps, so a big improvement.
Having used Wi-Fi repeaters in the past with mixed results, I approached AX1600 without high expectations – this was quickly blown away! Nighthawk mobile app makes setup very easy – no need for PC! I was then delighted to find this device has multiple radios – this means it uses 5Ghz band to repeat on (link speed), and then WiFi 6 to broadcast out to devices – end result is excellent 5Ghz speed to my devices throughout the house. Fantastic!
Just plug it in. The Netgear app should be improved though. Connecting it where you have two Netgear extender is a nightmare.
Easy to set up and has definitely helped my wifi and I use it wired to my main pc and get some very good speeds
The product was purchased directly from Netgear’s website. Initially, I was supposed to receive a 10% coupon but it did not work, but I still bought the product. I subsequently chatted with a customer service representative who gave me a 10% discount directly credited to my account. I also bought another product to extend to my back garden. Overall I had a good experience and good customer service.
Purchased for my own use Honest reviews only from me 🙂
Like most such devices this will connect to an existing router’s WiFi signal and rebroadcast it (with or without any name /password or access rights changes you might prefer)
In that simple function all I can say is it works pretty darn well and puts out a strong WiFI signal that my iPhone latches onto whenever it can. Totally reliable so far.
It also features a 1000mbps fast ethernet connector so it can also connect remote devices like TV streaming or games consoles via cable or get its input signal by a long cable from a remote router and put out a local Wi-Fi hotspot. Cool extra features
The latest speeds, bandwidths, dual band technologies and security features (WPA3) are all there so it can fill most of todays remote and booster needs
The only slight negatives I’ve found are
It’s big (ok, maybe it contains big aerials) Pic is alongside an Alexa smart plug which is no midget itself
The set up can be a bit of faff with different web addresses to use for initial set up and subsequent monitoring or tweaking. It works but it’s a bit fiddly. Fortunately talking to it via a laptop and Ethernet cable always works at any stage and will therefore do the full set up or get you out of any set up problems you have got into via phone/tablet
Tech support wasn’t needed but don’t try to set this without downloading the manual from the web first ! The extra explanations there are necessary reading !
One hint. Newer devices can use the WPA3 security level but if there are also older WEP, WPA2 etc devices on the network they will be pretty puzzled by WPA3 and either ignore the network, waste time trying to connect or just declare it mysteriously ‘saved’ in the WiFI list when it clearly isn’t and can’t be connected to. The full download manual does cover this to be fair but I blundered into it none the less..
The WPA2 setting works fine on all my devices from 10 -15 ancient years ago to the latest phones
It was a little tricky/temperamental initially getting the extender to connect via the app but once it did it the set up went OK and my Wi-Fi range improved very well
Really great product, easy to install a d great signal strength, however it gives out 4G & 5G signal so I think whatever network you set it up on you gotta stick with unless you do a a reinstall, example: I set up my Google cast on the 5G signal but if I switch my Google cast to the 4G signal it does register when casting from YouTube let’s say until I switch. But I guess I’m still getting use to it.
Got this as our wifi6 router is downstairs and WiFi speeds upstairs were struggling to get above 20mb (we have a full fibre 500mb connection)
Popped these in power socket and downloaded the app to install and configure and speeds are back up to over 150mb
Typical Netgear, costs a lot In comparison to its rivals, but then you do get a lot more features and more importantly a stable and secure WiFi signal. Easy to install, takes minutes, handy if you already have a Netgear account. Has worked flawlessly for several months.
I purchased a BT version last time and it stopped working after a year. I researched using a mesh router but thought I didn’t need it in the end. So opted for the Netgear range extender and wow so much easier to connect via the app and works no fuss like the BT one I would highly recommend it.
Great extender with good range and operating on 2.4GHz and 5GHz (and WiFi 6, although I’m not sure any of our other devices are that modern). There are various ways to set it up, and the easiest seems to be to go to the web page given, rather than using the App.
