YOU CAN BUY HAPPINESS! Probably one of the best purchases you’ll ever make. Going to a private dentist costs money. However, maintaining healthy teeth is priceless. You’ll be very happy with what this toothbrush can offer. If you have sensitive gums or teeth or looking for a very good deep clean for your teeth look no further. I have had a range of toothbrushes from Oral B (inexpensive to more premium) by far this is a great toothbrush. The io brush head from Oral B is phenomenal. Just buy it! This toothbrush actually makes you crave wanting to make you brush your teeth more often due to the pleasant feeling it creates after brushing. You’ll be left smiling!
I never thought a toothbrush could make such a difference, I thought they were all much the same, but this one is in a league of its own. When you clean you teeth with this toothbrush your mouth feels amazingly clean. I’ve used oral b toothbrushes for years, and when I buy a new one,I always go up a grade and notice the difference, but this time it was unreal, the difference was another level altogether, I couldn’t believe how good it was. I didn’t pay the silly full price for it,and nor would I, but the 170 price tag was definitely worth the extra expensive. I think the original price for this range of toothbrushes is ridiculous, but when they are at this price, I think it’s about right.
Had a little windfall, so decided to treat myself to this, having heard good things. I have had Oral B electric toothbrushes before, but as others have said, the technology has come on in leaps and bounds. I admit that the last few months I’ve neglected my teeth a bit, due to a bout of Long Covid leaving me exhausted. However, within a week, using this brush for just 5 minutes a day has completely transformed my dental hygiene, without a trip to the Dental Hygienist. I can actually see the plaque in the basin, sorry if TMI, but I’ve never seen that before! Now my teeth feel beautifully clean and smooth, and sad I know but I really like the cheery grin the brush gives me when I’m doing it right! I’m due a dental checkup in a fortnight and I’m keen to hear what my dentist will have to say.
Yes it’s expensive. My last electric Oral B came off Noah’s Arc but was still good and functional, so trust the brand for longevity.
Decided to treat myself to a new one as it was long overdue and on offer.
Have to say it’s amazing. Arrived next day well packaged. Connected it to Bluetooth phone App in nanoseconds seconds and then performed a trial run.
Absolutely %. No teething problems, teeth, gums and tongue exquisitely cleaned with minor effort and excellent results.
Sensor indicates being heavy handed, times spent brushing etc. App shows what teeth you’re missing when cleaning. Doddle to recharge. It’s a no brainer. Highly recommend, already purchased replacement heads as they were on offer too, so good to go for the next 24 months.
Wishing you pearly white smiles too folks. Worth every penny.
The clean from this with the new Ultimate Clean heads surpasses that from previous toothbrushes. Typical life of the (expensive) heads is 3 months and you have to shop around for those to get the best deal. The brush gives various options which are useful and there are two other heads available – Gentle Care and Radiant White which I haven’t tried.
The really useful part is the mobile app which shows progess on brushing by area within the mouth, overpressure and a history. You’ll be surprised to find that you really do need that 2+ minutes to get a full clean.
It’s an expensive initial outlay +only justified with a deal price) but if this helps to avoid a visit to the dentist other than for a regular checkup then it will pay for itself over time.
Having replaced previous versions of this brand which I was having to charge every couple of days (to be fair it did last 5 years) I snapped up a great double pack deal (never buy these at full RRP as they are always half price somewhere) on this model which at the time of writing was one down from the latest model.
I am glad I did purchase this as its a great toothbrush. Very powerful and the battery lasts at two weeks. I also like the new design for the battery as there is no recess which used to get really mucky with gunk.
The brush heads themselves are also an improvement and you really come away feeling as if your teeth have had a good clean, although replacements are really expensive but I have only had to replace the head every 3 months so not too bad at the moment.
Probably the most useful feature for me is the pressure sensor telling you when you are brushing too softly or too hard, its amazing how often I am doing one or the other!
A couple of downsides – you only get one travel case and one charger, which isn’t really helpful given that if you buy a duo pack you would think that at least two people would be using them. I also don’t think much of the Bluetooth functionality and have turned it off to preserve battery life, its a bit of a gimmick and keeps your interest for about two brushes before it becomes more of an annoyance, but that’s just my view.
Given all of that its still a great toothbrush and hopefully will last as long as my previous one making it really good value as well.
I’ve been using electric toothbrushes since 2006. Started with Oral-b, brilliant brushes used about 3 within 10 years then i changed to Philips due to better reviews. However, they all broke within a year whereas i gave my last oral-b to my 7 year old two years ago, was still perfectly working, of which the battery just started wearing out in the last 3 months. I bought my last Philips about 3 months ago and already broken! So, I was adament to go back to Oral-b, specifically to the io range as i haven’t tried it before. I thought the smart app was a gimmick, how wrong i was!! My now 7 year old cannot wait to brush his teeth and he does a perfect job everytime, so do i and it always takes longer than two minutes!! So ive been brushing my teeth all this time incorrectly! It’s strong, which i love as my gums are well trained for this, i also waterfloss, clean my tongue and rinse twice a day. Absolutely fantastic!!! I highly recommend it! I also chose the “open box” option which i swear wasnt ever openned before hence got it for a very fair price just over 80. L o v e i t !
I’ve been using an electric toothbrush for several years now and they are much better than manual toothbrushes in my opinion but I’ve not used one as good as this before. It really does leave your mouth feeling like you’ve just paid a visit to the dental hygienist and you get the feeling that your teeth are getting the best brush possible.
The app is good and I like the way that it monitors progress in cleaning your teeth, which is does through a visual picture of your teeth, which shows which teeth you are currently cleaning and the colours change from dark to white as you make progress. When all your teeth are shown to be white then you’ve cleaned all your teeth properly. This generally works well but even though I know I’m cleaning my top right hand side teeth properly, it doesn’t always show on the app and sometimes it shows that I’m cleaning my bottom teeth when I’m cleaning my top right hand side teeth! This can be so frustrating and I feel for the price that this should work properly.
I have noticed that I’m cleaning my teeth for longer than normal and at first it feels strange taking your phone in to the bathroom so you can see how well you’re doing cleaning your teeth but the time spent cleaning actually goes quick as you watch progress on the app. I find that I typically spend about 3 minutes cleaning my teeth until all teeth are shown white on the app but I someties give up after 3 -4 minutes if I know I’ve cleaned them properly but it’s not registered on the app.
The brush heads are good and last a long time (3 months) so I’ve changed mine once as I’ve now been using the brush for over 3 months.
The brush isn’t cheap but in my view it’s worth it for good dental health and my teeth have never been cleaner than they are since I started using this brush so despite the issues with the app, it’s an excellent buy.
I’m so impressed with this new toothbrush, excellent. It’s hard to explain but the brushing experience itself is so nice on these new models. If you have one of the older style models with the little metal chisel like brush mounts then you will probably also be blow away by this.
Firstly, it’s so quiet compared to the aforementioned design. Then the feel, it vibrates at a completely different frequency that is much faster than the older style of brushes. to put the power in perspective, my old style oral-b would maybe spray toothpaste on the sink and taps if you were not careful while brushing (my son does this allllll the time and I guess I do sometimes of course). But this io8 model has managed to spray toothpaste up the bathroom window which, as a result, has just given me more housework to do. But more house work is worth it for a cleaner, healthier mouth.
Ok so that might have been an odd and slightly gross comparison example but it is true. And it highlights the extra power the brush is delivering.
The app is generally good but I do have one gripe with it. And that is with the tracking side of things. It seems a bit finicky with how it tracks where you have brushed in your mouth and sometimes thinks you are brushing a different area of teeth than you are.
I also don’t like that fact to utilise the guided brushing you have to open the app and hit start brushing with your phone in range of the toothbrush. I don’t really want my phone in the bathroom and I especially don’t want it in front of my while this thing is spraying toothpaste everywhere like mentos in coke. Ok I exaggerated there but you get the point.
If you don’t have the app open when brushing, it doesn’t record the full brushing data and only records the time you brush for, no option to edit the data for if you flossed, brushed your tongue or used mouth wash.
But that is where they announce stops. 6 brushing modes on the brush, now it lights up to tell you if you are pressing too hard, too soft or in the right pressure zone. You can set brushing programmes for whitening over 2-4 weeks with a plan that you review daily on the progress using a picture with a slider for how white your teeth are. This then sets the brushing mode automatically for morning and night and prompts you to floss, mouthwash and brush your tongue.
The app can also track you brush head age and remind you when you need to considering buying a new brush head. The app will also sync with apple heath to track your brushing data and it scores you bushing progress each session out of 100.
This scoring point is what has caused the annoyance for me as if it doesn’t track where you a brushing in your mouth properly then it will give you a lower score at the end. I know they are essentially applying gamification to teeth cleaning with achievements and badges but it is backed up by study data that this improves oral health. Essentially, I would quite like to be able to not have my phone with me, and be able to sync the data after brushing and see how I did and not be told I missed all of my bottom right molars when I know I spent ample time there.
But to be clear, this doesn’t mean the brush isn’t doing a stellar job of cleaning. This is just a small annoyance.
Overall I think this is a great brush that was even better as part of the blackfriday sale of two for 249.99. If they could iron out those minor app bugs I’d give this 6/5 stars.
