The thick chest layer doesn’t cover the top of one’s chest. the rest of the wetsuit is good. hence 4 starts (-1 for comfort)
Previous order was an Asian make, just didn’t fit.
I’m in good shape, I went for L at 5’11” and fairly slim. Fits perfectly.
Went sailing in the lakes late November, did get dunked a couple of times and the suit worked amazingly well, very satisfied with it.
Not too bad getting on and off.
Lovely suit but I’m 6’1″ and have a broad back and it won’t close so having to send back. Gutted as it’s great value for a winter suit.
I use this wetsuit for windsurfing in Bala lake (Wales) it works great in the colder months. I use it between March-October. Not tested it out in deep winter ye
I had to buy a men’s suit as I am a size 18, 5ft 6” female, and quite ‘ top heavy’ so female suits were not fitting me!
I bought a size xxl, it fits fine round my 42” bust, yes it’s a bit long in the arms and legs but that’s not a problem as I just turn back the cuffs.
Good, heavy duty suit!
Hope this helps someone if they’re unsure of which size to pick!
Tried this for first time on may 18th 2022 after purchasing a year ago, went into the north sea not to far from skegness the sea was pretty cold but in the wet suit i was nice and warm and when i took it of i was virtually dry
First venture into outdoor water sports – swimming and surfing in Achill and I’m.not in first flush of youth! Water cold so glad I had this. Good fit and comfortable
Firstly have to say the customer service is fantastic from Board Masters.
I did use the sizing chart, I’m 6’1, 42 chest & 36 waste so went for XL, it was a snug fit but unfortunately the height was the main issue.
The returns process was easy and customer service emailed to keep me updated.
I re ordered XXL to be on the safe side, very quick delivery and this one fits, little roomy round the waste but I’m happy.
The suit it’s self is very good for the price, the seems and zip look very good and sturdy.
Haven’t had a chance to use in the water yet but will update once I have, so far excellent and would recommend.
Have now used wetsuit in the sea and have to say it’s brilliant, was in the water for well over an hour and was kept very warm, really really impressive
Good value suit, will help me keep warm when swimming off the North Norfolk coast. Please check size before purchase. Based on Website info I thought I was a size L. I am 5′ 9″, 170lbs, 41″ chest and L was way too small. I sent back and ordered an XL, this fits perfect. The size chart tag they sent with wetsuit is 100% correct to base your purchase on. Included a screenshot to save others having to return and to save their 5 return postage.
Used for kayaking! As a man with wider shoulders, usually an xxl in shirts but had to go XXXL in this wetsuit. However outstanding value for money, comfortable, durable, flexible. Having worn this it feels like a 300 wetsuit, very highly recommended.
Very surprised by this wetsuit! Been surfing and swimming in 8 water and i’ve been absolutely fine, very good value for money. I’m 5″11 with a medium/muscular build and it fits me perfect.
Perhaps a little too tight around the crotch :/
This is a brilliant winter or cold weather wetsuit. Takes ages for the water to get through so be cautious peeing because it will take some time to wash through
NOTE: Review written after I actually used the wetsuit for sea swimming.
Picked this up as a second wetsuit to my more expensive Zone 3 wetsuit (which I wrecked before even using it by digging my nails in to it!).
This Osprey suit is superb. Materials are good, especially the knee protection and the front and rear windbreakers. At 5mm it is quite a heavy suit but the sizing appears to be fairly generous. The fit is naturally snug (as it should be) but offers a bit of play to adjust the fit once you are inside. I found that for me, I had room to adjust the fit on my arms and legs. The windbreakers make chest adjustment/wriggling very difficult though due to the material used.
I used this for an early morning sea swim in September 2020. With my hands and feet exposed I obviously could tell the water was cold on a near-biblical level!
Of course when entering the water a wetsuit won’t prevent you from feeling immersion shock, but once you get in and dip yourself in a few times to get some water inside the suit (which warms up, which is how wetsuits work) after 5 or so minutes you’re grand.
I completed a slow 1000m swim over a period of about 30 minutes in exceptionally calm sea water. I found the wetsuit to provide a LOT of buoyancy, so trying breast stroke to get bearings occasionally proved problematic. Once up and running though and swimming freestyle, I found the suit wasn’t overly restrictive and that was able to apply my strokes and also sight fairly comfortably.
The 5mm thickness proved to be just right for the water I was in, which was freezing! Extremities aside, I never once felt cold during my swim once I’d acclimatized. In fact I wanted to swim much longer and further. Safety first though, especially when trying out a new wetsuit for the first time. I didn’t experience significant after drop either once I was out of the water.
Post-swim I just used a big blue IKEA bag to stuff the wetsuit in to. Took it home, ran it under a cold shower and hung it up in the bathroom to dry. Easy peasey.
Overall this is a great, well-made wetsuit perfect for beginners and seasoned swimmers alike. I probably wouldn’t recommend it for racing or anything more serious. You’d be wanting a proper tri suit or race suit for that.
However for everyday open water swimming or training I think this suit fits the bill perfectly. That applies to beginners, open water veterans and hardened triathletes and super swimmers alike. This is a great wetsuit anyone. Buy with confidence.
This wetsuit fits a treat I’m 5’7″ 42″ chest, 12.5 stone, Not tried it in the water yet otherwise 5 stars
So happy with this wetsuit. Bought for my 14 year old son and was worried buying it online and not trying it on. The measurement guide on here was very accurate as it fits him perfectly!! Great quality and price.
I’m 5ft10 and 85kg ordered the L and it fit great. Wee bit snug before hitting the water but once in it was perfect.
First use I spent about 8 hours in the water between paddle boarding kayaking and swimming, never had any issues and had enough flexibility to do what I wanted and barley felt the cold. Happy with the purchase
I bought this replacement wetsuit for my recent trips to the lake District and loch Lomond. I do mainly kayaking and SUP (paddle boarding).
I’m a stocky 5ft 11, 74kg, 40 chest, 32 waist and I ordered a Large and X-Large. The Large was a bit tight around the chest, thighs and crotch but fitted the best overall. The XL was really loose around my arms but otherwise fitted well in the other areas. I decided to keep the Large as you do want a good fit i.e. second skin. The zippers and seams are good. The velcro around the neck could be better. It worked very well in the water. Mobility was good and being 5mm, it kept me warm. To be fair, the water hasn’t been too cold recently. All in all, I’m pleased with this. It a great recreational wet suit and good value for money.
Update 1: uses these multiple times over the autumn with no issues. However a New Years Day paddle at 1c was surely going to be a challenge. Pleased to say this 5mm suit did very well and really kept me warm especially with my buoyancy aid on.
I used this lake swimming in winter and I didn’t get hypothermia.
I did get cold hands and feet but I got some socks and gloves and I’m now toasty warm. I can’t really fault the thing if I’m honest.
I read mixed reviews. My experience has been great. Did order some wetsuit glue at the same time and after 10 swims still haven had to repair anything. Well worth the money for my first suit. Warm.
Here’s me:
Height 5′ 11″
Weight 11.0 stone
Chest 39 inch
Waist 33 inch
Shoulders 44.5 inch
Biceps 12.5 inch
Thighs 19.5 inch
Calves 13 inch
The large tall fitted perfectly.
The XL also fitted, but the thigh area was a bit baggy.
I have been in river with this on, it is Dec 2019, I was fine and dandy.
I bought this to use for Worlds Toughest Mudder in Atlanta 2019 and this served me very well indeed.
The thickness kept me warm all night and the extra elbow/knee padding made it perfect for some of the more physical obstacles.
I read the reviews of this suit and ordered an XL as everyone said go a size up. XL was too big so I reordered a L. I’m 5’11 and 80 odd kg. Fits perfectly. Super value for money. The thickness is perfect for winter surfing. So far so good.
I got it home and it fit me really well, I tried it out for the first time when I went pier jumping. It was surprisingly warm and had fun for hours. I live up in Scotland so it’s always very cold and I tried it out in winter and it still felt warm. I greatly recommend you get this product.
The Question just asked was WHAT DID I USE THIS ITEM FOR ,, WELL let me have a think about that ?? There really must be many uses, BUT I WEAR IT IN MY POWERBOAT .. sorry if that disappointed
For less than 60 quid I am more than happy, with this.
I am 5’10” 38 waist, and 44 chest, so went for the 3xl, I may have fitted into the 2xl, but this is a good enough fit for me, although a bit long in the legs.
I am a powerboat racing rescue diver, so my needs are different to a lot of wetsuit users. I need one that will be warm enough to sit on the boat for a few hours, after going in, not too buoyant, as I don’t use weights for the rescue work, but need to be able to stay under, and reasonably priced, broken fiberglass, carbon fibre, wood, and fuel will seriously shorten the life of a wetsuit, so a budget wetsuit is a wise investment.
I did a pool dive to test it to see how it was, and it certainly didn’t disappoint, comfortable, warm, not at all restrictive, and didn’t look to bad on either.
Overall I can safely say, when I need to replace this one, I would not hesitate to get another one.
First time use suit was fantastic. Very comfortable and warm. Used for swimming in the sea during January – suit did not restrict movement when swimming. Second use was for sea kayaking and was again well suited to this task. Unfortunately on the third use the zip broke. For a suit costing this much I wouldn’t have expected the zip to break so soon, especially considering how it has been cared for and the fact it was only worn and used twice. Will contact their support team and attempt to get a replacement zip.
This wetsuit may be a 3xl but fat lads like to play in the water too. Thanks to Osprey my next holiday is going to be great. Fits really well comfortable and what a great price. I’ll use Osprey again. Oh and my wife likes my bum in it too. So that’s a bonus.
Brilliant and a bargin..little tip.if your usually medium get large..
Large get… x large
Small get medium.
As it is a snug fit.. lovely quality
Updated.. 30th March.. small problem resolved instantly
And brilliant customer services..5 *****
Top notch company and trusted
Arrived very fast, fit well sturdy construction. brought it along on a long weekend camping trip where it got plenty of heavy use swimming, paddle boarding and snorkelling. Early days but still in one piece. Received care instructions a couple weeks later the vender went out of their way to make sure I was satisfied with my purchase.
he xxxl is a snug fit for me @ 6’2″ and 18 stone, weather it stays that way after it has been used a few times is yet to be seen. This is Of reasonable quality as far as I can tell and comfortable to wear. I will need to extend the zip pull string on the back to ease donning the wet suit. I can’t point out any negativity about this suit othe than the zip pull which I just managed to reach. So if your looking for a wet suit the your won’t go far wrong this.
Good value item. Has lasted so far (a month of moderately heavy use), so have had no immediate problems, but can’t speak to its longevity over a prolonged period.
As other commenters have noted, it’s probably best to go for a size up if you are unsure. I ordered what I thought was a medium, received a medium-tall (I am 5′ 10″ so a medium seemed a much better fit) but in actual fact the medium-tall came out quite tight on me, despite the fact that I’m quite slim.
My main criticism so far is that the choice of logistics partner, DX Delivery, were really really bad. No tracking, and the parcel simply didn’t turn up for a week, forcing me to rebook delivery every day and wait around at home all day! Frequent calls to customer service finally got it resolved after a lot of unnecessary stress. I’d strongly recommend that the seller considers a chance of delivery service if they can find one that is economical.
