Really pleased with the box so fartook a while to get it sync’d with the home-theatre system but, when I pressed the right button on the system handset, it worked perfectly.
It’s opened up my life having this. So much possibility.
Plays all types of Blu-Ray discs including BD-RW. Needs more smart features.
This was bought as an update to a model we had been using for nearly 10 years.
Very easy to connect and tune, as instructions come up on the TV screen. The NETFLIX and YOUTUBE are an added feature and one of the reasons for buying.
Very Easy to Use
Would highly recommend .
No problems with this bit of kit. It was very easy to set up and the picture & sound quality are both good. Only issue is it comes with HDMI cable.
I was surprised at how small this unit is (smaller than a Sky Q box) – but it delivers everything. Set up was simple and in a matter of minutes I had BBC i-Player, Netflix, Amazon Prime and YouTube all working. The handset is quite light and the buttons don’t feel that good but it still works. DVD playback is absolutely fine – I would say for 59 you can’t go far wrong.
I got this as a replacement to the one I purchased about 7 years ago. This is nothing spectacular to look at but it is the best DVD player I have owned. Simple. User friendly. It has played every CD/DVD I have thrown at it. It gives a very clear internet picture and I cannot praise it more. I wanted something easy to operate that I could just use without having to set up a whole slew of options.
It came quickly and undamaged. It was not hard to set it all up. easy to use . I always worry when you read multi region and it turns out not to be the case. The Panasonic is great it has played all of my dvds that I have not been able to watch (multi region it is ) I have been using the dvd constantly and I have not had a problem with the picture quality or sound. The remote is easy to use and has completed all the tasks I have pressed the buttons. I am so pleased with my purchase
Sorry this item has been purchased as a Boxing Day birthday present sorry unable to help on this item but other Panasonic items have always been easy to use and excellent quality and I have no reason to doubt that this will be the same this I think would merit a five but as I have mentioned this hasn’t been gifted as yet gave score because I was unable to send review with the stars.
Don’t be put off by the fact the blu Ray player is not wireless. For anyone who does not have their router in the same room this player works perfectly with a TP link device and I have been able to access all features such as Amazon video and Netflix. The cost of the player and link device to enable internet connection still works out cheaper than a blu Ray player with built in wireless (opposed to Ethernet connection).
Quality of build is good.
My 2 gripes are these. Somewhere in paperwork, order or on the website it mentioned that it is “sold by Amazon.com” (rather than. co.uk) but it never crossed my mind that it would come set up for the American Market.
I always trawl through all the settings before using an item and I did notice that the default system is NTSC rather than the European Pal – easily changed.
On trying the player Blu ray was fine but DVD was frankly noticeably worse than my old Samsung Blu ray player. I thought of returning it. On this score I confess to being a bit picky as I have worked throughout my life I medical imaging.
However, another trawl through the settings revealed that Picture quality, when Auto is selected defaults to playing the media at “native quality” ie no upscaling. On changing this to 1080p progressive it is absolutely GREAT. It seems like very odd marketing to provide equipment that does not default its basic settings to best quality
Cannot comment on the network side of things as I didn’t really need that functionality and had no Ethernet socket downstairs stairs.
As such, we decided to get a basic Blu-Ray player to match the one in the lounge – and we can now watch discs from our Blu-Ray collection in bed.
Installation was extremely easy and painless. The unit is very quiet and picture and sound quality are excellent – every bit as good as the much more expensive player in out lounge. We don’t use the limited ‘Smart’ capability as, when necessary, we use the more abundant APPs on out Smart TV. We did connect the LAN cable in case a software update was pending – it wasn’t.
If I have a niggle its the menu system and the remote control – all a tad slow and not in the least intuitive!
On the other hand, this device is unobtrusive and appears well made. It does lack some of the more exotic features of more expensive units but, for our basic needs, it is more than adequate.
It is a very competitively priced and IMHO, represents very good value for money – especially given the build quality and excellent picture and sound.
So, no complaints. Indeed, one day I hope I will have worked out and remembered the function of each of the buttons on the remote control!
This product was ideal for my needs and was somewhat smaller than earlier models. The only problem I had was that it initially failed to work on my current TV. I tried my other DVD Players and they failed to work as well. I therefore deduced that there may be an issue concerning the HDMI Ports on the TV. I contacted the manufacturer (not Panasonic) and they talked me through the set up process on the TV. this solved the problem. It seems that the HDMI Port has to be configured to accept outside devices. Once this was done the Player worked perfectly.
Did not know it needed a wire to connect to the internet. I was expecting wireless – it IS the future after all.
I did NOT like the remote. Below is me talking about the remote.
Remote control does not feel natural – try finding the right button in the dark and you can accidentally go back to the main menu.
Play, pause, and Stop all feel the same. Fast forward and skip are also grotty.
They figured out remote controls in the 80’s. What’s the problem here??
The big NETFLIX button (fine – I have Netflix…) can also be mistaken for the arrow button.
The only issue is with the remote – the Netflix button is much too close to the other buttons which are needed to control the player and if one doesn’;t look at the remote while pressing the buttons it’s very easy to press it by mistake. This links to the second (admittedly minor) issue: the false impression the instructions give about the player receiving wireless signals from WiFi. This is not the case, but it shares a manyual with a similar model and the instructions do not indicate that this model only has a wired connection.
The supplier’s sales invoice lists the price of the actual blu-ray player as 69, and an additional 100 for the “MultiRegion ICOS Digital Universal Modification”, so this special multi-region feature is predominantly what you’re paying for.
Swapping between blu-ray regions is easy: just make sure no disk is in the machine, then press a button on the remote and any disk formatted for the newly selected region will play when inserted. There is no limit to the number of times you can swap between regions. The machine automatically swaps between DVD regions so no operation is necessary to specify changes.
The set-up menu also allows wireless connection and streaming directly from the web, plus a number of other arcane functions.
All in all, this is a great little player with its multi-region blu-ray USP the star of the show. Recommended.
