Bought this to replace a 20 year old trimmer and I am amazed how much better it is than my old one. It’s quiet, smooth and the blades cut beautifully. I immediately regretted not upgrading the trimmer much sooner.
Having a beard for a few years now I have tried a lot of shavers.
To be honest this one is just the one I have been looking for. Easy to use cuts clean. Does not pull the hairs.
Buy one you won’t be disappointed
Excellent, I’ve used ‘clippers’ for about 2 decades now & never been 100% happy with any – mains or battery & several brands.
These were – exactly – what I wanted after their first charge: beard, neck & head full #1. Power didn’t wane at the end – still going strong – & cut the hair well on 1st pass (no endless mowing over the same spot)
Width of the blade head is ideal, again no endless mowing – a broad blade head & cuts the hair on first pass.
Trimmer is a good size, sits well in the hand & I don’t feel i’m about to drop it. The cut length roller is easy to adjust – max cut #1 – for me, the guard is easy to fit & glides smoothly without any snagging or blades biting into my skin on bony curved bits: chin or side to top of head.
Hopefully many years of good use ahead.
Recommended.
After using a wahl razor which was dreadful, this beard trimmer is absolutely incredible. Seriously happy with this after my poor experience with a similarly priced wahl razor. Couldn’t ask for something better, would strongly recommend to anyone with thick facial hair. It will cut through anything no matter the length with ease and comfort.
Best in the biz
This trimmer is of very very good quality and battery lasts a lifetime, however when compared with my previous trimmer which had its comb lengths set out in millimetres, this trimmer didn’t match even though it’s also set out in millimetres. For example, 12mm on this trimmer is 8mm on my previous trimmer, 16mm new is 12mm old, and so on.
No complaints at all but just thought this may be valuable info for some! Still a fantastic trimmer.
Thanks!
I bought these as my old trimmers were starting to show their age and I needed a replacement.
Immediately, these were better than my old trimmers. Super easy charging with a battery that has lasted at least ten shaves before starting to lose power.
The design is sleek and easy to use, changing the attachments is super easy, with obvious guides/grooves on the trimmer to follow.
The only downside is it’s hard to know what the number means in relation to length as this is not clearly described in the manual.
However, after a few months of owning this I’m overall incredibly satisfied with my purchase and would not replace these even if offered a more expensive brand.
Fully charged in a hour. Great hair cutting hight settings.Detailed trimmer attached is a real bonus. Easy to use.
Solidly made. Good powerful shaver. The gaurd can be tricky to get on.
Use both for beard trimming and head shaving, and works well for both.
Battery longevity is great and quick to recharge.
Good combs for beard and the bare trimmer gets very close for head shave
A significant step up in quality from my previous cheaper trimmer. Not a chance of the length slipping with this design.
This could be the brains compared to my previous braun.
This product it good but it was for a Christmas present and the address sticker was on the box and took ages to get off . The box doesn’t look new now . When delivered everyone knows wot it is and could easily go missing . Not happy
Bought it when it was on offer.
Exceeded my expectations. Very easy to use and plenty of accessories
Ive used it a few times and seems to be pulling hairs. Especially when you flick the smaller shaver out. Maybe I’m not using it right. The last shavers I’ve had have been good. Braun and Philips. I thought I’d give these a go. A good make and good reviews. They’re weren’t to expensive either. Only time will tell.
For 40, getting this will pay for itself within 2 or 3 cuts (if you have cheap local barbers), or just 1 cut if you have a more expensive barber.
Easy to use, good battery life, doesn’t tear the skin. Does what I need it to do and gives me a buzz cut at the hair length I want (the adjustable dial on the clipper).
The plastic clip-on guide cutter looks easily breakable (looks very brittle) but a lot of these types of products have exactly this because you will have to replace it when it breaks (not if, because it will definitely break at some point). Hopefully later rather than sooner and it will justify the cost of the product versus just going to the barber.
Very nice trimmer, is a little heavier than I’m used to, but nothing inconvenient. I’ve used it a few times and haven’t had to charge it yet, so the battery is good so far. The attachments are nice, the adjusting is easy and well done. The mini “precision” trimmer doesn’t cut so great and I do have to constantly take the attachment off to clear the trimmer of hair before I can continue, so that brings it down to 4 stars. Reasonably priced, so it’s a good purchase overall.
My only issue is the blade is quite wide for trimming my goatee but it doesn’t nick or cut and is a real step up from my old shaver.
Battery seems to go on forever.
I’ve waited to review this trimmer until I tested it in every way this is supposed to be used for.
It is a good beard trimmer, does the job nicely, but I had better beard trimmers in the past.
As Body hair trimmer it’s good, but due to it’s “chunkier” size it can prove to be rather tricky to get where you need to especially in “sensitive” places. Not suitable for ladies use according to my partner due to it’s size.
As Hair trimmer this is rather poor. I would called this an “emergency hair trimmer” as it clogged up constantly and I have rather thin and very short hair. If I tried to cut my sons hair with this, it would probably burn out! If you intend to use it mainly as Hair trimmer, I would not bother and get a proper one…
Also, the instruction manual suggests to oil (oil supplied) the blades before and after every use! I mean seriously?! Who in their right mind does that?
Overall I give this 4*, as I bought it at reduced price and it does the job as beard and body hair trimmer for me.
Have I bought this at full price, it would have been returned as there are far better trimmers out there…
I expect anyone reading this is similarly bewildered by the wide range of products out there even, as in the case of Philip, within a manufacturer’s own range. Reviews also vary wildly. I can’t fully comment on battery life but I’ve had the unit for a few weeks with light use and haven’t had to charge it.
I am very happy with my choice. Within the Panasonic range there was one with a 30mm comb (this one goes up to 20mm) but it doesn’t have the pop up trimmer. I am now quite content with 20mm maximum (my Philips One Blade only had a comb to 5mm) and really pleased that I went with the pop up trimmer for more control in prominant areas like the top lip.
I was initially surprised at the light weight but the construction quality and fit of combs and blade unit are first rate. Only negative is the case. It offers little protection and you can’t fit the unit with the 20mm comb extended. Otherwise I’m really happy.
I’ve struggled to find a decent set of clippers for a long time. This set is the best I e had for a long time.
It comes with a number of interchangeable heads depending on what type of cutting you’re doing (hair, beard, body). Changing the heads is nice and easy but I only use the beard trimmer and then an unguarded clip for my hair.
I clip my hair down as low as I can and this set takes it down nice and low without hurting the scalp. The blades seem like great quality and don’t trap hair and pull it out. They cut it nicely. It’s also easy to take it all apart to clean it out and put it back together again.
There are two spinning dials to change the height of heads. I must admit I am not sure what one of them does, but it works well for me anyway.
The only issue with these is it is hard to clip my moustache with the guard on as the head is so big, but I was after a slightly bigger clipper head for when I was cutting my hair. Cutting with a smaller head would take too long.
But all in all, I’m happy with this and I would recommend it.
In lockdown I took out my old clippers I was cutting my hair every month or so. Taking the plastic heads of the clipper on and off to get down from about a grade 6 down to a grade 1. Bit tedious. And as I’m not a hairdresser it took me quite some time to cut my own hair. The results were okay. Not great. But passable for a haircut . However the adjustable blade on my clippers broke. So I need a replacement. I searched online pretty much like you’ve done now. Read a hell of a lot of reviews. And settled on these. I’m seriously impressed. Can do my hair so much easier as these are so much lighter and without accord you are completely unrestricted in ways that I didn’t realise I was until I started using these. The dial in the middle of the body is the length setting so so much faster than clipping Combs on and off the head of the blade like my old clippers. The actual cutting blade seem really really smooth. And give a very even cut. All the way round my hair. I can’t really fault these at all in fact I’ll have to give it for five stars as I actually think they’re perfect. Maybe a professional hairdresser would look at them and say nah cheap rubbish, But I’m not using them to make money and do professional haircuts I’m just using them to cut my hair and make myself look Vaguely presentable each day. These do the trick perfectly. I’d love to say that I’ve tried several different brands analyse them all but I haven’t. I chose from reviewing what other People said had worked for them so I bought them. I love them.
Having used a cheaper Wahl trimmer for a few years and being less than 100% happy about it I though I would buy something better. Also having grown a ‘lock down’ beard I needed something with an adjustable trimmer depth. The Wahl just uses fixed length comb guards. Having made the change to Panasonic with my shaver choice brand a few years ago I researched what trimmers they have on offer. A surprising number it turns out! I chose this one – ER-GB80 – because it had what I needed and not much that I didn’t need. So having used it for trimming (back of neck etc – to minimum length) and beard trimming to 4mm the results are excellent. It was like changing from a Ford Fiesta to a Ferrari! It is so well made and cuts so easily. No pulling and great result. Even the supplied oil bottle is good quality. The cut height adjustment system is great and goes in 0.5mm steps. The comb guards are easily fitted or removed and feel like good quality. The Wahl ones could have come from a cheap Xmas cracker! Yes! it cost more than the Wahl but it is in a different league. No regrets al all.
