I didn’t have huge expectations going in with this but as I got it on a sale I took the plunge.

    Really pleasantly surprised.

Well built. Very compact. Substantial weight. Easy to operate. Ran my PC, consoles, fire stick and Pi through both optical and hdmi with zero fuss and no faffing around. Tried the bluetooth to make sure it worked and it did so I left it at that as I won’t be using the feature.

Nice sound with decent volume for the size of the speakers and a good range of EQ options. Hard to believe that something so small can put out sound that’s so good. Bass isn’t God level but again when you consider the size of this thing its bloody impressive nonetheless. Loud enough for my living room and makes the downwards firing speakers on my tv sound like fisher price toys by comparison.

    Rubbish remote.

    Looks great under my tv.

And the best bit..Zero and I do mean zero lag/delay when gaming or watching vids. Fab.

I am usually what is technically referred to as a hard to please, miserable git but in this case I’m a thoroughly happy camper. Take that for what it’s worth.

Thumbs up for Panny on this one.

I use a monitor for my PS5 but the sound quality was awful. I wanted something with a good connection and easy set up.
The 4k pass through is ideal, I get great sound without compromising the video signal and it was super simple to set up too.
The bonus is the different game modes do make a difference.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe soundslayer is a pretty decent one box solution and has a lot going for it but expect too much and you’ll be disappointed, be aware that while having Bluetooth capability the unit is mains only.
It only has a couple of inputs also and I know some have remarked about issues with compatibility with their laptops running external monitors along with the soundslayer. I personally haven’t had any issues running the soundslayer with HDMI from my Legion 15 while running an external monitor through usb c to display port.
There are lots of sound options so you should be able to find one to suit your taste. Sound is good up to 2/3s volume then will start to strain. Bass has 3 settings and is weighty at low to mid levels just don’t expect to feel it. Treble is good without being too bright or muffled, Treble varies with sound settings and can be boosted using clear dialogue if preferred.
Music gaming and films all sound good for a single unit, there is a surround sound setting which widens the sound stage but can’t really replicate rear channels but what can you expect from a small box?
The unit is reasonably loud but can sound thin at high levels.
I can recommend this product if you have a large budget and want a small but feature full single unit, even better if discounted…

Bought it to link my sons LG OLED G2 65 inch tv with his Xbox series x. Sound is good when used in the 5x3mt garden room we had built for him. Building is built from Sips panels so almost soundproof, so even at just 80watts, ideal for the job.
200 is not too expensive compared to the 400 Lg Soundbar he has attached to his Oled Tv in his bedroom.
The built in various gaming systems are ideal as is the ability to connect everything via eARC HDMI 2 cables. Size is good and can easy fit on a small shelf under TV as it’s light and compact in size.

Remote is very cheap and flimsy with few worthwhile features and surprised that Pioneer built such a cheap and nasty remote, let alone sent it with this Soundbar.

This Soundbase is a huge improvement over my 43″ Sony TV.
Decent base and treble for a small room.

I’ve used both Optical and HDMI ARC, the so called Dolby Atmos only works with the HDMI connection, but I personally can’t hear the difference.

The surrounding sound option certainly does make a difference in sound for the better and does seem to give an all better delivery of action sequences when that’s selected.

Not bad for 179 when on an offer.

Definitely recommended but as said for ac small box room only in my opinion.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersExtremely solid / well built and fantastic sounding sound bar. Can go LOUD if you want it to. The “Clear Voice” mode, which boosts the volume of speech without boosting the volume of other sounds works perfectly and is not a gimmick. It makes it a pleasure to watch films without being deafened by explosions etc as you have to have the volume high enough to hear the speech at all.

    Some observations:
Negative comments about the remote control are a bit disingenous. It does exactly what it’s supposed to, perfectly well. Easy to operate – clearly labelled buttons – perhaps a bit dated in appearance compared to some of the “sexy” remote controls you get with some tech these days, for example the Apple TV. Basically I think there’s no actual cause for complaint as regards the remote.

    I had two issues with the sound bar (RESOLVED) that don’t spoil my enjoyment of it NOW but were a pain in the bum until I resolved them;

    1. Set up with a PC isn’t particularly well explained in the brief manual supplied. In a nut-shell it seemed like the logical thing to do would be to connect the sound bar via a HDMI lead to the motherboard’s own HDMI connector as the sound chipset is built into the motherboard. This approach doesn’t work. It’s not clear WHY it doesn’t work. The only way I could get sound output from the PC via HDMI was via connection to a HDMI socket on my graphics card. This was annoying as it meant I had to go without my second monitor for nearly a week while I waited for a displayport cable to arrive – second monitor originally used the only HDMI connector I had on the graphics card. If I daisy-chained the second monitor through the sound bar as the manual suggests then for some reason my primary monitor, connected via displayport, wouldn’t operate at it’s maximum refresh rate of 165 HZ – it capped at 60. Having both monitors connected via displayport cables and the sound bar connected via HDMI resolved this issue but then created issue #2.

    2. If connected via HDMI the soundbar causes an issue wherein any monitors connected to the PC periodically go blank for a few seconds (~5 seconds). All monitors will do this at the same time. Sound continues to output from the soundbar when this occurs. This can occur several times an hour, or not occur at all for several hours. It’s infuriating when you’re playing a competitive game and you lose / die / whatever because your screen went blank on you for several seconds.

So I eventually resolved both issues, permanently, by abandoning the idea of connecting to the PC via HDMI and purchasing an SPDIF Optical cable – This is obviously only a solution for YOU if your PC has an optical-out connector on the motherboard or soundcard. I suspect some budget motherboards may not have one. I have an Asus Prime Pro X470 and it does. The optical cable cost < 10 via Amazon. I can't comment if these issues affect other setups such as game consoles - while I do actually have a PS4, Switch and Xbox One X I have no intention of going to the effort of testing the soundbar with them. If hypothetically speaking I was going to use the soundbar with them I would just use the optical cable from the beginning and avoid the headaches. In conclusion - Would I recommend it? Wholeheartedly, YES, with the caveat that it can take some messing about to get it to do what it's supposed to do, properly. I feel like an optical cable could have been included in the box (and a HDMI cable as well for that matter - I ordered the initial HDMI cable at the same time as the soundbar). Once you have it actually working properly the sound quality is staggeringly good in comparison to typical PC / "Gaming" speakers. Could I get better sound quality from 2.0 speakers? Probably - If I was prepared to spend more money than this cost.

After checking out the sound slayer, over a few weeks: I found for the best sound settings, having the subwoofer on full, and using full gaming mode for all requirements including drama’s and movies. The standard and cinema settings hardly had any difference between them. I must say the tone is great. Easy to use. Fast response when switching on and finding input.

This one of the good choice I made for many sound bars.
Pro: good sound and very small for what it can give you. You does deal the surrounding sound come to you if use 3D sound on the the sound bar that is very important. Yes again sound is good.
Con: controller is so bed build and on the sound bar it self have very limited control so do not loss your controller. Bluetooth is ok but if you looking for great bass please stay away. This is not for you. It does have good bass but not good as if you are heavy on bass..
Overall it good and very good for desk use who play game on monitor.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersMost games today are played in really bad sound today – whether this be cheap stereo speaker sets that came with a PC, tiny laptop speakers or thin TV speakers, all of them drain the life from the audio of the game as well as any movies that are played on them. This is a crying shame – a lot of effort goes into the sound of modern games and movies, but most of it is lost to bad sound solutions that lose most of the detail in the soundtrack.

Panasonic’s Soundslayer/SC-HTB01 speaker is a great solution to that. They’ve produced a compact soundbar that manages to offer great sound that also supports the modern high-quality formats that modern games output, which is somewhat rare at this end of the market.

So first to the most important part, the sound. If you’re used to the lifeless sound from laptop or flat screen TV speakers, the Soundslayer will massively improve your experience. The Soundslayer supports the two main modern sound formats Dolby Atmos and DTS X, as well as the legacy Dolby Digital/DTS and standard uncompressed LPCM sound, and it uses all of these details to bring the sound of your game to life.

What I do need to say here is that while Atmos/DTS X are surround formats, I wouldn’t say that the Soundslayer is going to give you a world-beating performance with things coming from all around you – that is the preserve of ~1000 soundbars that often have dedicated rear speakers. What it will do is use the information in these to give you a much larger and detailed sound than crappy TV/laptop speakers will, and you’ll notice all of the sound the game has to offer being used in a wider soundscape. The bass is great too – although it doesn’t have a separate subwoofer the thump and crunch you’ll get from this is very noticeable.

There are moments in games where you’ll experience something sneaking up on you from the side and spin around to see it or duck out of the way from incoming fire from the other side, and in movies you’ll appreciate this too with the Atmos effects from things like Disney+ contributing to the involvement you feel in the movie with things like the Avengers charging Thanos in Endgame having much more life and detail to them than you could ever get from a small TV. The extra detail from an Atmos output is truly superior to the stereo downmix that you’ll usually get.

Speaking of small, that’s the other valuable thing about this. It really is the smallest soundbar ever, and so portable! When I hear “soundbar” I think of something that’s large and takes up most of an AV unit, but as you can see from the photo from my back bedroom, it fits on small TV stands too. If you want to move it somewhere else, you can just unplug it and stick it under your arm to carry elsewhere. Most soundbars are large and not that moveable, but this does offer that convenience.

If you’re going to be having friends over and want a great speaker to stream music from your phone, this is ideal – you can unplug it from your TV and then just bring it over to the table and match it to your phone on Bluetooth. Not many soundbars offer this!

Given that it supports and decodes all of the modern surround sound formats and uses them to give you upgraded sound, and that it’s one of the most portable soundbars around as well, this comes highly recommended. It’s a great deal!

A great solution to bad gaming sound

I bought this soundbar from somewhere else. I use this in my study room connected to an Apple TV and 4k monitor. The sound is amazing when I sit 1 metre away from it. I can’t understand how 2 channel speakers this size can produce these surround effects so realistically. I’m sure dedicated dolby atmos speakers would be much better but this soundbar is doing job extremely well.

    4.0 out of 5 stars I wasn't expecting this

Ok this is a really neat product if you want a sound bar for your desktop setup. The only problem with it is that it will enable only 60Hz refresh rate and no 2K on output to the monitor. (It uses HDMI passthrough)

I have searched and tried a few splitters and I am glad to say that I finally got a splitter that will enable 2K@120Hz (1440p@120Hz). ATEN VS82H True 4K Splitter. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B084WVNT9M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Make sure you first plugin the HDMI to the monitor into the splitter, and configure XBOX to 1440p/120Hz then save and turn the console off. When it is off connect the HDMI cable from splitter to the soundbar input port. And then start the console again. (Failure to do so might force XBOX to offer only 1080/720 resolutions.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFirst unit faulty, I got another gave it a other chance. Great soundbar I have to say. I use it with a 4K Sony TV and all the main consoles PS5 series X switch etc

it’s a good performing soundbar for the size, it does indeed throw bullets and any sounds all around you, halo infinite is quite special through this soundbar in Atmos. It can throw sounds behind you and over the top of you, really quite spectacular for its size.

I got this a Black Friday offer, but still cheaper than any other sound bar out there. Set up was a little tricky but I got there in the end, more to do with the tv than the bar. I am connected via a optic cable, the sound is very impressive for such a small bar. I can hear details I haven’t before. The video doesn’t do it enough justice at all. A very good buy, I would definitely buy again. Worth it for a decent price Dolby atmos bar.

I use it with my gaming PC via HDMI but also my work laptop via Bluetooth and honestly this thing is great. Admittedly I’m in a small double bed bedroom and have it set up on a desk, so not sure how it translates to a large living room. (Who wants to be that neighbor anyway?) But honestly this thing works wonders and I highly recommend. Also very sleek looking.

It has become hard to find an HDMI Through device – in my case to separate the audio from a Roku box HDMI Feed to my monitor (which has no speakers).
It works really well! The sound quality is great and barely distorts at maximum volume.
    I like the compact size.
It’s clearly aimed at Gamers – but it works well as a regular sound bar.
It is more expensive than many, but the sound quality justifies that.

My only complaint is the tiny remote control. It’s very small and easy to loose. Works fine though.

For a relatively small device compared to other sound systems, this device really hits with some fantastically clear sound! I usually have trouble hearing talking sections of films and such but this is so clear I’ve heard tiny things in the background of films, games and programs I’ve never noticed before!

If you connect it to a pc, don’t forget to download Dolby Access from Microsoft Store and to enable ”Dolby Atmos for home theatre”.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSo I planned to use this speaker for my PC by using just the hdmi port for audio (basically ARC). The problems began because the PC detects the speaker as a 1920 x 1080 60hz monitor so when playing games, my resolution and fps would now be limited to this even when my actual monitor was set as the main output. I struggled with this for ages until just recently I figured out how to fix it and wanted to share it in the review as I haven’t seen anyone else mention this. To fix it:

    – Go in to NVIDIA control panel

    – Select “Change resolution” on the left and then click on the Soundslayer on the right. You’ll see the max resolution is 1920 x 1080 but we can force it to use a resolution not listed

    – Click “Customise” and then create a resolution that matches your monitors output but make sure it’s only 60hz. If it’s a higher refresh rate than 60hz you’ll get no sound output. You will also need to check “Enable resolutions not exposed by the display”.

    – Select the new custom resolution from the list and apply. Now you should hopefully have no issues running your games with sound and at the resolution/fps your monitor supports.

I’m assuming the steps will be slightly different for Radeon cards but hopefully the above can help you figure that out.

Now the speaker itself is actually great. I wanted something with enough oomph but a small footprint on my desk and this perfectly matches that. One annoyance is the sound modes can only be controlled by the remote which is super ugly compared to the speaker. It just feels like a massive afterthought. You’ll probably want to disable the auto-off as well as that get’s really annoying. Otherwise though it does the job and looks great so would recommend.

Cracking wee speaker!! some level and quality of sound from such a little soundbar only issue is it doesn’t pass through anything higher than 4K 60Hz ie. 4K 120Hz and only has 1 x HDMI out. P.S. you need eARC HDMI (not just normal ARC) on your TV if you want full fat Dolby Atmos

Previous to this I had some Logitech speakers that died after 6 months and cost 50. I needed something new and decided to invest in some good speakers this time. I wanted something that: a) could give me better sound b) something that took up less space and was a lot let messy.

Day 1 of having these and I’m so impressed. Sound quality is amazing, that bass isn’t unbelievably powerful but it’s just as powerful as I need it to be. This thing is LOUD – but it’s also tiny. I’m fascinated. Ussually when something promises digital surround sound, it’s ussually BS but this really gives you a satisfying experience. Is it perfect surround sound? No of course not – but for a tiny little singly speaker it’s amazing. Connecting this thing was really easy, I ran a hdmi from my GPU to it and worked straight away. Some people have complained about the remote control but I don’t get it, it has volume up and down buttons, it allows you to change sound modes and it allows you to increase/decrease the bass – what more would you want a remote to do?

First impression, easily the best purchase I’ve made all year – completely revolutionised my set up and is a complete upgrade on anything I’ve had before. If anything changes I’ll be sure to update this review but for now I’m very satisfied.

Over priced for what it is great sound for a small sound bar.suppotrts just about every decoder there is ideal for PC speaker although having problems with AMD graphics card RX_580 Drivers as the sound is past through HDMI to the the speaker via RX 580. I would say films sound amazing with the dolby atmos App witch is avaliable through Microsoft store. Music is ok a little boomy games sound good as there are different settings however bluerays sound superior and really shine with powerDVD with the atmos app. Don’t have it connected to q TV can’t comment there on that. If ur looking for a small speaker solution this would be ideal don’t expect heavy bass as ur not going to get that with this. Bluetooth comes in handy as I have connected it on that rather than HDMI as there are problems there with my RX 580 and windows not recognised it but does on bluetooth.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersSo i originally used the Logitech THX setup with Sub, its sounds really good, but i wanted more space on my desk and also under it. This is small its smaller than a keyboard in Length, sound wise its good, BASS is nowhere near my Logitech system, but i had a dedicated sub, gaming is great it does give you a sense of distance and space much more than my Logitech. Connectivity wise Optical is there and works fine, but for Dolby Atmos you must use HDMI passtru, which is kinda the only annoying thing, because most of us have display ports now for FreeSync and G SYnc, using HDMI wont get you 144hz with this your locked at 60. But overall its very good, ticked most of my Boxes and im happy with 60HZ i can tell its not as sharp but nothing major.

Nice speaker and not hideously long too. A tad over priced maybe but certainly has made a great difference with the poor sound you get from those ultra poor downward firing speakers built into your thin tv’s. I had to put my xbox series x direct into the tv as the soundbar only allows 60hz, so 120hz isn’t available. So if this is what your planning to do, plug the lead to the soundbar on it’s own and all other audio from your other connected equipment (other consoles for example) will go through this soundbar just fine. One review here stated it was necessary to connect a digital lead to the soundbar for tv sound to go through. This is incorrect. All sound plugged into your tv’s other ports will be patched through to the soundbar as long as it’s connected to the ARC or eARC hmdi port. Only negative so far, is that it’s not quite as spacial sounding as I hoped, but the bass is nice and watching tv and movies really does a terrific upgrade to the sound. Games sound flippin’ fab too. Recommended!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersOnly been using the speakers for about a day, but I’ve hooked it up to both my laptop and tv and it’s pretty easy to use and set up with different devices (basically just a power plug and either HDMI or bluetooth to connect) which is a plus.

The sound quality is really good, with the bass in particular being strong (which I like). I’ve had speakers before that sound alright but had mediocre subwoofers, glad to see it’s not the case here. These are a bit pricey but worth it, to be honest, especially compared to other more expensive products that aren’t as good and way more complicated to set up.

Also, when you crank one of these, it gets LOUD.

Overall pretty happy with them, no glaring faults as of yet, good buy.
