Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIt was very easy to install. Make sure you read the instructions fully. I was a bit worried about the ethernet cable diameter as I didn’t want to have to drill a large hole. The solution was simple, I added a junction box up under the soffit and jointed the power cable and the unused ethernet cable end in it. Job done.
I also downloaded the software to my PC so I can view the camera from my phone, tablet and PC. Picture quality is very good as is the wifi connection. It has been up now 4 weeks and seems to be working well. Considering the price I am very satisfied with its performance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to install

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersBought camera as a deterrent & piece of mind after car was vandalised over night.
Had to drill quite a large hole through the wall in order to fit the Ethernet & plug cable through. Really quite impressed with this camera after installation. Linked up to phones, laptop & computer.
It was reassuring that the front of the house & car on the drive were safe whilst away on holiday.
Still getting to grips with sensitivity as was too sensitive when we had heavy wind & rain. Fascinated to see so much wildlife running through – badger, foxes, deer etc, . So far so good.

Very good camera , have tried a few that claim they are great quality and this actually is for once!
Very Easy to set up and to use – end result is more cinematic in my mind and makes great footage – I’m using indoor rather than out and no issues – buying a second one shortly 🙂

Since writing the above I’ve bought 5 more as they are perfect for the house and all work easy on the app!
    Highly recommend buying!!

The camera was easy to install and set up, but the focus slider is just wrong in the design, way to sensitive, for shooting outdoors it’s going to be on the side of long focus but a hair’s breadth adjustment and it’s completely out of focus. Other than that great camera

A great addition to my home security, can see all of street in both directions, nice colours in day light and night time views are really clear and bright. download onto the iPhone is a real bonus. going to purchase a indoor cam from the same make next .5 stars.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersEasy to use, good app. Found it took a couple of days to tune the settings in, at first getting incorrect detection from the wind in causing tree movement etc
This is the first time I’ve used a camera system, looking back it would be useful to have multiples of cameras to cover all angles.
Having said that with this camera once motion has been detected, it fallows the movement of either the person or the vehicle very well, and the picture quality is very good.
Only been installed for a week.

Great little camera, easy quick set up. Fantastic coverage in the dry. Really wet yesterday, camera became very slow & virtually unresponsive. Video kept breaking up even though i had a cover over it.

    Fantastic in the dry.

The comments are for the specific model reolink E1 Outdoor with firmware version v3.1.0.804_22011506
After some rather extensive testing I notice the following:
When tracking the camera just pan but not tilt so if the target moves above or below the horizontal plain the camera stops tracking and is the same either if the target is approaching or moving away.
During night and night mode coma, only with V infrared light on the infrared lights on though the camera detects and a motion is triggered the camera doesn’t track the target, even if it clearly is within the area covered by the infrared light.
When manually triggered or self-calibrating the camera rotates to the far right and tries to extend the rotation beyond the termination point, you can hear the motor and gears keep on running long after the turn has terminated and when it returns to the left it doesn’t exceed the about 140 degrees from the far right (that is not even in the middle of the nominated pan range) when it starts tilting before moving back to the pre-set monitoring position with a difference of 5 to 10 degrees.
As the camera / software supports pre-set points I would expect that the camera would support patrol mode. But I can do without.
I want to believe that some of the points above are either defects of the camera or glitches in the firmware / software of the camera.
    And now the positive things:
I considered the camera to be a good value for money. Easy to install and setup. Has a very sensitive mic which is very good if you are monitoring an area remotely. Zoom is quite good and auto focus works like a charm.
Though I haven’t contact them at this occasion, reolink seem to be very good in supporting their products and from my experience they are very quick in their responses.
If I would recommend this product? It depends on what you’re looking for. Overall, it is not a bad choice.

I bought this camera to replace a rubbish purchase I made earlier and I couldn’t be happier with its performance. OK, the tracking movement has a bit of a lag, but it’s no big deal and it does everything else really well. The picture quality is brilliant and it is easy to capture bits of the video if necessary. I am using a 32GB SD card and it records 5 days of video before re-writing over it.

I bought this camera as a replacement to one that kept failing. Physical installation was very easy, much easier than it’s predecessor. Two simple screws to mount the support arm, and the camera just clips in place, making it easy to remove, or adjust its angle without need of a screwdriver. Box came with an extension lead for the mains adapter which was a pleasant freebie as I’ve always had to buy these at extra expense as the camera is rarely close enough to a power socket.
Excellent app which linked to camera with ease.
Camera has an optical zoom which is really just wide angle to std. lens controlled by a slider in the app which is nice to have distance control without pixelation. It is possible to zoom in further by pinch zooming the app image, which is only digital and suffers the obvious pixel issues.
Picture quality good, and a nice improvement over the camera’s predecessor. Good automatic focus. A slider allows for manual focus via the app, but this has proved unnecessary so far.
Night usage a little disappointing as the infra red and lights both inferior to the old camera; not giving the range that I have become accustomed to. Having said that, it’s ok, just not as good as the last camera.
I was a bit concerned at the lack of external antenna, but this was unfounded as the internal antenna coped brilliantly connecting to my WiFi router about 25m away.
People tracking works well (one review implied camera did not have this facility, but it is available via the app). Email alerts available and FTP which is pretty standard for most cameras.
Camera app allows for preset locations to be programmed to quickly reposition camera, but these are not good. Camera gets confused and ends up pointing at a different view to the one saved. Either the app is not recording the settings accurately, or the cameras physical gears are not accurate enough to always return to the correct place.
Overall a good quality camera for its price.

Brilliant camera that also doubles up as a door entry light.

I’ve put a 256G microSD memory card in the device and have to set to record on any motion but when it detects a person only to send a message to my phone, it also takes and photo and sends the video to a USB portable hard drive attached to my home router. All this works really well, the person is tracked and the spotlight only turns on when a person is detected which makes it better than a normal sensor light and less annoying to the neighbours.

The picture quality is really good and you can move the camera manually or let it track on its own.

You can control it via the web interface or app and the app also works even if your not on the Wi-Fi of the device.

I did contact support to ask about some setting they were really good and answered my question within a couple of hours.

    Very happy.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is a lot smaller than I expected but quite a powerful camera with a lot of options all the same. I do like it so far and am thinking of purchasing another 2 to replace my older system.
It’s fun using the time-lapse function, I’ve recorded some great cloud movement and the sun from rising to setting.
One thing I found that is annoying, to get a useful response when using PTZ is to toggle from high picture quality to fluent. If I don’t the response from the camera is beyond just sluggish, more utterly useless.

his is Reolink so you get the quality and features you expect, audio (2 way) great 2560×1440 resolution, fully water proof, active tracking for animals, people and vehicles

this camera is feature rich and there are some stand out features you don’t get without PTZ capabilities:

1st the flood lights at night, these mean night recording isn’t done with night vision colour and quality but in full resolution colour, when the lights activate you know you are being watched so a great camera for watching the front of your house/path and door plus works as a deterrent

2nd is the active tracking where the camera actually follows the subject being recorded, in day or night once it picks up movement it records and tracks the subject and does this really well, at night having the lights following you like a spot light makes people who visit the front of the house know this is not a mere flood light.

3rd feature is ability to set roam points so you can set predefined focal locations and then hitting a button will move the camera to display that location, you can also set auto return times so the camera returns to original position at a certain time after following a subject

works well with Synology Surveillance station AND as a supported camera you can also control the pan, tilt and zoom via Synology’s app not just the Reolink one

if you are looking for a camera so you can view more of your property Vs a static/bullet camera then you cannot go wrong with this great little camera which is much cheaper than its big brother PTZ camera

The fact there is no instruction manual (so far I know) of setting up the functions of this camera is a downside. I was glad I persisted. The decider is usability of FTP. How it works is acceptable to what I want. It allows me to specify my own FTP server and delay prior to upload. Take note that you can apply a delay to the motion detection recording itself. That means the FTP upload delay should wait till the motion detection recording has finished. But note that recording will not work in the first place if SD Card is not inserted. Also, you can set it to upload video, image or both types of file.

Having set up FTP to work, I set up email notification. The prompt suggested use of app password and that went without any problem, and I got the notification, in fact, to two email addresses.

Be default, the motion detection alarm will sound the in-built audio siren. In my case, I don’t want that by muting the sound. PTZ works. I have no additional requirement on this.

Using the Reolink app was fine; I wished there was more information and guidance available on setting up the kit. All in all, I am confident the basic ways of working of this will be acceptable for my use, which is to install to capture motion of the front door. Once there’s a capture, I get app and email notifications, and the recording is then on my FTP server (also on SD card). Once the kit is installed it will help ease worry about intruders.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersArrived next day. I’m new to FTP and having configured an FTP server on a Raspberry Pi, I couldn’t find the FTP configuration on the web interface. I assumed it would be under Network, but it was under Surveillance as Olivia at support informed me by return of email. Also had a problem with the camera email reporting via Gmail. Again, she was able to solve it and point me to the on-line instructions. On Gmail you need to configure two factor authentication and then get an app password for the camera. Read my headline again.

I purchase 1 Reolink 5MP PTZ WiFi Security Camera and then another. The first was to replace an existing camera (home security) which had failed. The setup was extremely simple using the QR code and mobile app. Once done I was then able to adjust IP and configuration to suit my needs. I use both cameras mounted inside looking out of a double glazed window. I switch off IR & Led light and was amazed at the clarity in the night time images! Quality and resolution are fantastic. They were slightly on the pricier side but given the 5M pixel resolution and higher quality definitely worth it for me. Note: Had to switch off mobile phone VPN when connecting the camera up on a second phone; once off both camera were selectable in the app. Running now for just over 1 month (May 2022) without any issues.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersEasy installation, a little fiddly installing the SD card as I have big hands. The camera worked ok to start but I have had issues where the camera either rotates around to the maximum stop and then freezes. I also had issues when using the PTZ controls as the camera would not rotate in the horizontal axis but would in the vertical axis. I have had to reboot the device several times. Almost took it off the wall and sent it back. It seems to be working ok at present. The picture quality is good both in the day and at night.

Good quality for a reasonable price. Optics good quality and a clear picture in daylight. The optical zoom is good but struggles to focus properly at maximum zoom in low light. I also tried every setting on camera and mobile phone to remotely operate over 4g network and gave up. 4 days later it started working on its own? Overall though excellent value for sub 100
