2500 READ and WRITE. Fluctuates a bit depending on the task but so do all drives. Super pleased!
I’d probably not buy another brand of SSD. The presentation of the drive is awesome in a small copper coloured metal tin.
The drive itself runs excellent, with no slowdowns on large file transfers
Does exactly what it says on the tin and it arrives securely in a tin.
This is my second M2 drive and stuck with Sabrent as I’ve had such good performance from my other one. The heat sink is great but a little fiddly to attach. Once in I just needed to assign a Drive ID and it worked like a charm. Highly recommend.
his m.2 is super quick Read/Write! games loads super quick, price point isnt overpriced. Perfect for adding extra room on my system for games!

Didn’t think i’d ever be this excited about a drive. It’s unbelievably good, was suffering from major stuttering problems on COD (MW2) and was running the game on a old mechanical HDD, had all settings turned down low just so the game would render without stuttering. It’s now running smooth 90-100 fps, zero stuttering with all graphics settings maxed out (on a RTX 3070, RYZEN 3600)
If you need a new SSD I highlyrecommendit!
Very quick and perfect for my new pc build, used as the main boot drive.
A fantastic SSD which is fast, durable and easy to install. M.2 is definitely the best SSD and this is a great M.2 variant. Whenever I’m upgrading for more storage I’ll most likely buy another one of these, if not a larger storage variant (Depends what’s on offer I suppose!)
Really doesn’t get much simpler to. Install. Instantly recognised and accepted by the pc.
Installed windows on it in a flash, and the pc starts in a instant.

May well get a 2tb one at some point for game installs… Still weighing up the cost on that vs necessity, but for your OS, it’s definitely the way to go.
Now the not so good news, and the reason for dropping one star. The device I received was a used item even though I ordered it new, from a seller fulfilled by Amazon. My suspicions were raised when I saw that it had a bit of finger grease on the heat spreader, as though someone had been at it already. Then, when installed, it was already formatted NTFS (not supposed to be formatted at all when new). So, I downloaded the Sabrent control panel app and had a look at the S.M.A.R.T data. It had over 700 hours on the clock with well over 200 terrabytes (yes, you read that right) written, and the percentage used (an estimate of the lifetime of the device based on data written) of 12%. So I have effectively an 88% new device for the full 100% new price. Not impressed with that al all.
In practical terms, I will not write anywhere near the previous user’s amount of data in such a time frame and so the lifetime of the device in that context will not reduce on anything like the same scale due to my use. Having said that, I battled for a day with the decision as to whether to go through the hassle of removing, then sending back and getting a replacement, or just leaving it installed and carry on using it. I ended up doing the latter, as it’s in, it works, and in practical terms a replacement won’t really gain anything for me. It still has 100% spare data area capacity (despite 12% lifetime reduction) and if this had been anything less that that I would have returned it.
In short: great device which is nice and fast but beware of returned items being sold as new!
You don’t actually need the heatsink that is sold alongside this item, unless you are going to be doing some crazy intense activities. Plus the motherboard that I installed it onto already had a built in heatsink for this. Just make sure to check if your motherboard already has an M.2 heatsink installed as standard and make sure you install it into the correct 4.0 slot (not the standard 3.0)!
It’s super easy to install, and comes with clear instructions for those who aren’t sure. Don’t be afraid of installing one yourself, you can always look up online video instructions before buying it if you want to know exactly what to do.
I was a little worried that the heatsink might not fit, or would catch against something but my fears were unfounded and it slotted in perfectly.
On the subject of the heatsink, it came nicely packaged with 5 screws and a small screwdriver – everything needed to fit the heatsink and drive to the motherboard. This was a nice touch and saved me searching for one.
Transferring the data was super easy using the freely downloadable Acronis cloning tool from the Sabrent website. A quick install and it was cloned in no time at all.
It even booted first time and I had no need to enter the bios to adjust boot settings. In fact this was one of the easiest upgrades I’ve done in a while.
Out of interest I did a benchmark and saw sequential reads at the advertised speeds – 6 times that of the previous Sata drive. Random reads and writes were much slower but still extremely quick.
However, I’ve personally not noticed a huge speed increase in real world usage as I’m not transferring files or other read/write activity but I am happy with the drive as it increased my storage space.
All in all, I could have paid less and gone for a Gen3 drive and have been happy, but this will last me a few years and I’m happy knowing the artificial benchmarks are much faster than what I previously had installed.
Biggest con is that storage size for money is high and had to completely re-install windows on it because I could not get windows to clone then build a working EFI boot shell. The EFI boot shell is required to run windows on a NVMe drive and during a clean install of Win 10 it will identify the drive and give you the option to install the EFI boot. Don’t forget you may need to fiddle with the settings in your MOBO’s boot shell to load windows on the EFI when using the 550 series boards!
With this installed PC start up is just a few seconds.
Editing 4k video is a breeze with no frames dropping.
Speeds of almost 5gb per second makes loading complex designs and video super quick.
The first one I ordered came with an empty box, perhaps pilfered at the warehouse but refunded quickly by Amazon and a replacement ordered.
To be fair this drive is probably overkill for what I need but it makes using the PC a delight.
Best to format it first before installing the OS that takes control of your PC and wipes games drives.
Thankfully, it wasn’t m’s in video or irreplacable photography shoots.
That said, it works and games load faster and a 2.8GB file from an SSD drive took seconds to copy. It’s so fast STEAM bootstraper fails often to restart TS2021 after a cache clearance.
Read Speed: quicker loading sim game
Write Speed: quicker editing sim game
Data Transfer: 2.8GB in a few seconds
Ease of installation: tiny screw is a faff
Windows OS Recognition: blind to it unallocated and will wipe next drive clean and install.
I’ll probably give it 5*’s when I get over losing my drive to Windows 10.
I will look to get another further down the line to run my OS on and keep this for Games.
Installed into my Gigabyte Aorus X570 Elite in PCI Gen 4.0 M.2 slot above the graphics card as the heatsink was too tall to go in the slot below the first x16 PCI-E slot.
Had all sorts of issues with Acronis True Image cloning but solved the issue after converting my EVO from MBR to GPT and then using EaseUS Partition Master to clone the Evo onto the Sabrent. I hadn’t realised that my Windows installation had kept the older MBR format probably from when it was on spinning rust… Maybe I should do a clean install one of these days but at the moment, if it ain’t broke…
Very quick to boot and will be faster still when I enable fast boot.
Cloning process was very easy, quick and worked seamlessly there after; just make sure you read the manual well before doing it.
The quality of the heat sink was good and I love the colour scheme!
I cannot comment on the speed but I notice a big improvement comparing to the 2.5 ssd.
Recommended this to all. It will be one of the best upgrades from the HDD and That big SSD for sure.
This is an amazing product tho windows boots instantly it’s insane
One other thing to note this 100% needs a heatsink! My mobo already has one for gen4 pcei m.2 but if yours doesn’t make sure you get a heatsink
And in general, the disk works fine. 1.8 TB out of 2
So don’t install it before making a note of said serial number as you need it to activate the extended warranty.
Especially don’t install it underneath a hard-to-remove graphics card ‘cos it’s a royal pain in the proverbial when you realise what you’ve done and have to shut down, remove graphics card, remove NVMe drive to look underneath with magnifying glasses to read the serial number (or take a photo as I did and zoom way in – the font size used is plainly not meant for humans to read).
The cynic in me says Sabrent don’t *want* people to activate their extended warranty. But it can’t be that can it? Hmm…
Was it easy to install? Yes
Was it easy to clone my old drive? Yes
Was there any issues cloning my old SSD to this new one? No
Was I happy with the results? Yes
As with most SSD’s nowadays you get a free copy of Acronis that allows you to clone your old drive. My OS drive was about 140GB of data, on an old EVO 830 SSD. It took less than 10 minutes to clone.
What else do you need to know? It comes in a really nice metal box. It’s much smaller than you think it is. It’s really fast. It needs an X570 motherboard to reach full speed.
If you’re worried that it isn’t Samsung or Western Digital or Crucial, don’t, just buy it. Sabrent make a quality product.
Did I say it’s fast?
this is dependant on a PCIE4.0 motherboard and if you put the disk onto a PCIE3.0 motherboard you’ll probably find you’ll cap out at about 3500-3800MB/s. Best results by installing on a PCIE4 motherboard. With the use of ASUS Ramcache you can increase the read write speeds. (by taking a chunck of ram for a cache to the drive). but to be honest I dont feel the need as its opening files and applications as fast as I can click them. Overall good product for the money and best installed on a PCIE4 motherboard.
I have a Ryzen 3600 with MSI MAG X570 Tomahawk mobo – so was capable of using Gen 4 NVME.
*Word of note* Check your MOBO slot as you may have 2, 1 will be a direct pipe to the CPU and 1 will be a MOBO line (chipset) – For best performance, use the CPU LINE – This will often be the M2 slot closest to the CPU.
**2nd word of note** Your MOBO heat spreader will be sufficient, you don’t need the ostensibly large spreader that Sabrent makes.
Now on to performance.
I ran this through Crystal Disk Mark several times consecutively and this was my result after 5 runs.
To say this is quick is an understatement.
Aside from the potentially artificial results here, real-world results were that the latest windows 10 installed off a USB2 memory stick (so not even a USB3 device) in less than 3 minutes. You cant even make a decent cup of tea in that time.
***3rd Word of note*** REMEMBER TO WRITE DOWN YOUR SERIAL BEFORE YOU INSTALL.
My NVME shipped with no serial sticker on the box or the tin. I was way too happy throwing it into my rig to even check and then went to register it and was thinking of tearing the rig down when I remembered! Crystal Disk Info! This will get your serial number from your NVME and you can simply copy and paste it into the registration document. VOILA. So in fact, throw this stick into that slot and get to enjoy the pleasure at the finish.
All in all, if your system is capable of using Gen4, the tech is now there and this is at the time of writing the review (168), cheaper than the Samsung 960 EVO plus which is Gen3 (180) and the Samsung 960 Pro Gen3 (299).
Heck, even if it isn’t Gen4 ready, buy it, and if? you upgrade later to a new MOBO etc, you won’t need a new NVME.
The included sticker is made of copper to help dissipate heat, but it doesn’t interfere with any of the SSD heat spreaders that modern motherboards are coming with.
A 5 year manufacturer warranty helps to give piece of mind, and unlike most SSDs solves the problem of god awfuly ugly software by just not needing any management tools. However, a copy of Acronis is available via download if you need to clone a drive onto it.
For me this is the current king of SSDs, at a great price even if it wasn’t one of the top performers in the market.
I think I was unlucky cause these M2 ssds are built to work at high Temp (70degrees in average on high load ), but they are so fast when coupled with MB + Proc PCie 4 capable as my Rig # Asus Strix X570 Gaming E + Ryzen 9 3900X + MSI Gtx 2070 Super + Vengeance Pro Corsair 32GB + 2 x M2 ssd Trancend Roquet 1TB +2TB, so if u go for it buy from 1TB and more in capacity , I think they’re more reliable as small capacity heat much faster and probably doesn’t handle it , and again it is my experience with one only , I can’t confirm that it’ll be the same with others, we will see if someone else has the same issue
I used Acronis from the Sabrent website to clone the OEM M.2 to a SSD and then to the new drive which worked perfectly.
Comes with a 5 year warranty when registering. I had issues with the UK site but the customer support team in the US sorted this out for me.
I would say that it’s better to get their normal Sabrent Rocket unless you’re looking to be writing on this SSD a lot. If you’ve got a motherboard that supports PCIE 4.0, why not make use of the feature?
Sabrent website for downloading and finding the correct software and manuals is a little bit confusing and could be made simpler. You dont get much with the drive just a fancy box and a tiny manual. As you can see on the speed test its blazing fast when everything is running as it should. Drive temp sits at 46C idle (on a fresh install) using the motherboard cooling plates (each motherboard will be different).
Overall very happy with my choice, time will tell how the drive holds up but i dont expect any issues. I will update if any issues occur.
Packaging is great – a small tin case with very secure padding so that the drive cannot move in transit.
Installed by removing motherboard heatsink for my particular board. This procedure took me about 5 minutes as I had to remove my gpu as well but it is super straightfoward.
Read speeds hit about 5000 with my mobo and r7 3700x setup and write is 2400ish as billed.
Very solid purchase.
As for the product, it is excellent, but only worth it if fitted to a motherboard that can make use of its speed. I fitted it into a Sabrent enclosure for use through Thunderbolt 3, but the enclosure is probably throttling it to the speed of the less fast memory card version, so I could have saved the extra cost and claimed VAT back on top.
Think the issue was that I had Windows Boot Manager on a different drive (i.e. not the original system drive). Managed to make the cloned drive bootable from the command line using diskpart (google “make drive bootable diskpart”). I then used a “bcdboot” command line to create a Windows Boot Manager entry on the nvme drive, but can’t remember exact details, and gave this first boot priority in BIOS (don’t think this step is strictly necessary, but ensures no issues if the drive with WBM is removed/reformatted).
The cloned drive is now running perfectly, with noticeable improvement in boot up compared to my older SATA SSD, so my only criticism would be that the instructions provided on Sabrent’s website don’t cover cloning in more complex setups, or otherwise warn that additional steps may be necessary to make cloned system drives bootable if the Windows Boot Manager isn’t on the drive being cloned.
Hard Drive speed speed test shows 4800 Mbs Read and pretty much the same Write speed! Windows boots from Post to fully open in just under 6 seconds! Semi concerned about using a Sabrent product as I had never heard of them, but about 50 cheaper than the same Samsung Evo plus drive, but so far, no concerns!
To sum this up – I highly recommend this drive, transfering data to and from the drive is a breeze and it has made everything I do on my computer lightening fast, games are more responsive, apps open faster than ever – and system responsiveness overall is noticeably improved.This gives you more or less the best read and writes for the price-and if there are better drives out there the difference should be negligible,at the time of writing this drive has the best specs available at a brilliant price – Buy it.
It’s not the easiest to fit, I had to slice a small amount off the foam “spring” in the M.2 slot due to the thicker than normal package created by the heatsink.
Price wise it wasn’t much more than a PCIe 3.0 drive of the same capacity.
I haven’t bothered running a speed test on it, but it is significantly more responsive than any previous NVMe drives I’ve used.

Installation was easy. – I already had a heatsink that came with the mobo and they do run hot.
The 500Gb is half size ( in length) and thus needed 2 mounting screws & spacers as the Heatsink I had is full size. ( I has a spare m2 slot thus used that ) .
I downloaded the cloning software from the Sabrent site ( limited to sabrent drives). Cloning was easy . Though a fresh win10 install would also have been just as simple.
I now have a considerably faster loading system drive.
I am happy with the purchase.
Honestly, it looked like a tin of altoids.
Crack the tin open and you get a small, but perfect M2 pci-gen4 drive.
At the time of purchase there weren’t many of these about, but I wanted to try out the capabilities on a new x570 motherboard.
It’s cheaper than other drives but doesn’t look it in the flesh, and general responsiveness during boot up and programme loading is good.
Pci4 doesn’t offer much improvement over gen3 with these tasks though. It’s file transfer that’s faster.
I haven’t benchmarked, I can only say that subjectively it feels so much slicker than my old sata SSD drives, to the point that I sometimes think the pc has stalled whenever I have to access data off one of these old SSDs.
I didn’t get the version with a heat sink – my motherboard has one built in, and I haven’t noticed any throttling.
I’m pleased with my purchase.
Just remember, unless you have the newest
generation of Ryzen CPU on a x570 motherboard, you are only getting gen3 speeds anyway, so save your cash and go for a gen3 drive.
