Very good stair gate. It is sturdy and safe. The design is well thought out, it is tall enough for the hinges of the door and is very easy to open and close with one hand.

Instal is a little fiddly and can take some time to get spot on, but when put on, it is sturdy and feel safe that it will do the job.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBough from amazon warehouse and in perfect condition other than an open box and the zipties cut (did not affect how easy it was to install).

I think a lot of people return these thinking they are bent out of the box – they are meant to be to ensure a tight fit! When you install them and screw them tight, the bent post then goes straight which is explained in the instructions, but perhaps not in the clearest way.

Works fine as a stairgate but if it is even slightly out of level (which can be a bit tricky to get perfect) the gate will swing open/closed if unlocked. A bit more resistance on the gate hinge would be nice so it was less likely to swing about if not level but its a very minor issue especially as its sold as a basic stair gate.

Bought this to keep dogs from leaving our kitchen when wet. Fitted perfectly and easily. Not too awkward to open, unlike some. Been using it for a year and it still works perfectly.

Very impressed with build quality and fixings. Have used similar gates previously to restrict our dog from going into our kitchen when we need to temporarily keep her out! This is by far the best quality and secure “baby gate” we have bought to date.

HAS to be fitted between two walls or a door fame.
Mine was to be fitted between stair newel post and a wall.
Due to it being a pressure fit gate it ended up moving the newel post instead!
Could not get it to a closed position so it was unusable for me.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersOn the positive side, it does the job it’s designed to do, and is a fair price, compared to may others on the market. I watched the youtube instructions video to help me assemble and install it, as I found the instruction leafet that came with it, difficult to understand, and I have a degree in engineering. The lock system can be used with one hand which is a huge bonus. Unfortunately, there was a small, sharp metal cut on the frame, which could catch a small childs fingers, so I returned it but unfortunately, the second one I ordered had unfinished plastic on the lock assembly, meaning, another jagged edge for little hands to find sharp. So overall, the quality was poor finish. I’ve had to stick with the second one and file down the jagged to avoid hand cuts.

This safety gate is ideal on the flat, but not at the top of stairs because the bottom rail is a trip hazard.
The lock release is fine if you have a strong grip but impossible for my wife to work as she has a weak grip.

I thought overall it was a good gate but found the unlocking a little difficult. Make sure you tighten it up really well though as it will just push open otherwise

I bought it for top of flight of stairs and I think it will take quite some time to get used to not catching the bottom bar with one’s toe. Decision will have to be made on safety grounds and I might need to consider the roller blind version as doesn’t have a bottom bar. Very important. Thanks. DJ

I bought this stair gate a fews days ago and arrived relatively fast. The only reason it doesn’t have 5 stars is because the product arrived partially damaged, but still fully functional. Mostly easy to install, works well for what it needs. The lock feature requires more attention to operate than other stair gates as you have to have it unlocked to close the door, to then have it closed safely. The gate also doesn’t close and stays open which I find handy for when baby is in bed, but that means you have to give it your full attention to close, rather than quickly shut close.

It a baby gate the look is quite simple, the extension are easy to install onto it.
There is a double lock bit so you have to slide the top while holding the under part. I like the safety of having this as my toddlers are getting good at probleming solving this helps to know that can’t work it out, where as other ones they have worked out how to open them.
I can tell the gate takes a lot of bangs from toddler toys and it still stands.
Also when locked it will show green when not locked it will remain red.
If you want something that going to last I would say get this.

Lightweight and well finished item. Very easy to install and use. Had it fitted in no time at all. Instructions are very clear and explain safety features very well. Highly recommend this item.

The instructions with this gate are dreadful and I was despairing of ever getting it installed till I found much clearer instructions inline. Using these the installation is relatively easy and the gate is overall very good though the lock-release mechanism is a bit fiddly.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersReally good safety gate but I was caught out by the size, thinking that it would be the same size as my last one I ordered it and when delivered it was too small and had to order the extra part to make it fit, don’t get caught and measure the space before ordering..

Just what we needed, fits perfect with the extension. Sticky tabs feel secure. Now we don’t have to worry so much when baby crawls in hallway. Easily adjustable to width needed, can be fitted by 1 person but easy when there’s 2 of you fitting it. Secure opening n closing.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersVery impressed with this stair gate. Quite easy to fit as ling as you don’t cut the cable tie. The instruction booklet is ok but the Amazon video explaining fitter is far more helpful. This comes with adhesive catches to aid it slip prevention but can also be screwed into the wall also. The bath is easy to use for us but not for a child as it is a two button catch and there is also a stop you can drop at the bottom for extra security.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersPurchased this stair gate, as we knew it would be a safe barrier and deterrent for our new puppy labrador, it is of excellent quality, and really easy to fit, no screwing required, so that’s an added bonus if you don’t want to mess your walls up with screw marks! Very good value for money and would definately recommend one if you have young puppies or children, Excellent service and very satisfied with item. Many Thanks!

    Perfect for Puppies !

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe found it straightforward to install. For those complaining that it does not close due to a large gap in the mechanism, this is normal and is the same with any stair gate. The gap closes once the gate has been installed and tightened.

We have some other stair gates that were more expensive and they are easier to open due to having a simpler mechanism, but this one is good for the price.

Having used the Flat Step model for years, gave this a try as it was a bit cheaper. Wish I had put up the extra cash for the Flat Step, as the lock on this is fiddlier and noisier. I also tripped over this initially, whilst getting used to it. Overall this is still a decent gate, with easy and secure installation, but Flat Step is on another level, especially if you need to go through it often.

It opens both ways and can be set for just either one; so quite versatile.
It look a bit of time to get it fitted securely with Wall Nanny extenders instead of the provided cups fixed (self adhesive pads or plug & screw). Our walls aren’t parallel so this added o the interest and I rested it on a couple of bottle corks to keep it above the carpet.
Once installed and set up, there is some ‘spring’ to be taken up, it worked faultlessly.
The lock is todler proof and also proof against some adults!
Next time it set up it wont take quite as long as the experimentation has been done.
All in all a good buy, but wouldn’t use without the Wall Nanny feet.

We use the stairgate for a visiting springer spaniel, so it’s gone up and down several times. We also took it away with us to a family air bnb. It’s been easy to put in place and dismantle every time. There’s a very helpful youtube video in the first instance. You do need to check the dimensions they give. There are discs supplied that you can stick to the wall; they act as a sort of socket for the frame. I haven’t found it necessary to use them; the pressure of the gate against the wall and stair post has provided a very solid framework.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersEasy enough to install if you follow the instructions. We used this for our twins’ bedroom door; however, the sides of the door frame were a bit thinner than normal, so the side circles were a bit too big to stick on properly which was frustrating. This wasn’t a product fault, though, and we made it work. Just something to consider before purchasing – check the space where you plan to install the gate first.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersOriginally bought one gate to stop my new puppy Chester from entering the kitchen from the back garden. Because the entrance gap was between the 73cm to 80cm. I was satisfied that it should fit the kitchen entrance. Bought for 24.99 at the time I found this great value.

As Chester has grown and is now house trained, he is allowed from the back yard through the kitchen to the lounge. I therefore decided to purchase a second gate which again fitted the second doorway leading from the kitchen to the rest of the house.

The gates can be opened by pushing in a button at the top and then squeezing the handle at the same time, this can be done easily with one hand. Make sure that when fitting the gate that the green line is correctly aligned or the gate may not open/close correctly.

It is possible to swing the gate closed, however there is a strong spring which you can hear when swung shut. It seems to be a secure gate when fitted correctly and I had no problems in setting the gate up after reading the instructions supplied.

The gate also has the option to open towards or away from you, by selecting the correct settings on the grey toggle on the bottom rung of the gate, or allow the gate to swing both ways.

The only issues I had was that I initially tripped over the lowest bar of the original gate, but soon got used to picking up my feet and that at night it is not quiet when locking the gate as the spring in the lock is strong. This initially disturbed my dog who sleeps in a room adjoining the gate, but has got used to the sound now and therefore might disturb a baby.
