Sono trentino, appassionato fin da piccolo alla montagna. Cercavo un paio di scarpe con cui affrontare i sentieri ed i trekking medio – lunghi. Inoltre dovevo intraprendere il cammino Inglese di Santiago (215km con prolungamento a Finisterre), avevo chiaramente bisogno di una scarpa comoda e resistente.
Che dire, Salomon ormai una marca fidata – non il primo paio che possiedo. Queste le ho da meno di due mesi ma 300km sicuramente li hanno fatti, di cui in piccola parte su asfalto, e non presentano il minimo segno di usura. A vederle, faranno senza problemi migliaia di kilometri. Il rivestimento molto ben impermeabile (penultima tappa del cammino, 8 ore sotto l’acqua costante: prima di bagnarsi i piedi sono passate diverse ore!); chiaramente una scarpa impermeabile far sempre sudare il piede, inevitabile, ma devo dire che queste fanno sudare addirittura meno delle mie sneakers che uso in citt, e ancora non mi spiego come. Zero vesciche durante il cammino… un record!
La suola d un buon ritorno elastico ed il battistrada fornisce uno dei grip sul terreno migliori che ho mai provato in vita mia. La taglia del mio piede 9 (USA), che corrisponde ad un 42 e 2/3 (difficile da trovare nei nostri negozi!) ed ho la pianta molto larga. Calzano perfettamente con calzini di medio spessore; l’imbottitura ai lati ottima e fornisce supporto senza punti deboli n pressioni strane che rischiano di causare dolori. Tra tutte le scarpe che ho provato, probabilmente Salomon sono le migliori per accomodare una pianta larga come la mia.
Assolutamente consigliate, le ricomprerei immediatamente. Solo note positive!
I usually buy half a size bigger (normally 10 purchased a 10.5) for my walking shoes/boots so was somewhat surprised that i found these tight in the ball of the foot area and were quite uncomfortable even with normal day to day socks.
Too late to send them back so i purchased a shoe stretcher from Amazon (Medipaq – Set of 2 Premium Gents Pine Shoe Stretchers – UK Size 7-12 Shoe Tree with Cedar Balls and Drawstring Bag – Shoe Stretchers Mens – Wooden Shoe Trees for Men). Genius, worked a treat after leaving them in for 48hrs.
They now fit, are extremely comfortable, lightweight, waterproof and look good… i wouldn’t wear them with a hiking sock but then that’s not an issue as i used them for walking the dog daily.
Next time (and there will be a next time as i now love them) i’ll order an 11.
Selon mes recherches ce modle correspond en fait aux anciennes Salomon X Ultra 3me gnration qui taient trs apprcies. Les X Ultra 4 sont moins bien notes que l’ancien modle notamment du fait que leur fabrication se fait dsormais en Inde et plus au Vietnam avec une perte de qualit au passage (qualit des collages notamment) et un peu moins confortable. Ces Pioneers sont nanmoins galement fabriqus en Inde mais je ne regrette pas mon achat. Pas de laage rapide ici mais l’ancienne ce qui me convient trs bien. A voir dans la dure.
Sono la riedizione delle X Ultra 3, apprezzate da tanti e con le quali mi ero trovato benissimo. A differenza delle Ultra 3 mi sembra abbiano una soletta interna leggermente differente. Inoltre utilizzano le stringhe tradizionali al posto del cavetto con il fermo in plastica. Quest’ultimo inizialmente mi aveva fatto venire qualche dubbio riguardo la possibilita’ di sostituirlo in caso di rottura (cosa comunque particolarmente difficile visto il materiale con cui e’ fatto il cavetto) ma con il tempo avevo avuto modo di apprezzarlo perche’ e’ piu’ facile regolare la chiusura e poi, al contrario delle stringhe, non si slaccia e non si allenta perdendo tensione. Il battistrada Contagrip mi sembra identico al vecchio modello e garantisce ottimo grip grazie anche alle tassellature un po’ morbide (che pero’ durano meno, le precedenti Ultra 3 le ho lisciate).
Beim ersten Eintauchen in ein schlammiges Pftzen-Abenteuer mit meinem vierbeinigen Freund war ich beeindruckt. Die Gore-Tex Technologie macht ihrem Ruf alle Ehre — meine Fe blieben trocken wie die Sahara, whrend die Umgebung einem Tropensturm glich. Ein Hochgenuss fr jeden Hundebesitzer, der wei, wie schnell ein Spaziergang zum matschigen Unterfangen werden kann.
In Sachen Robustheit tritt dieser Salomon Schuh ebenfalls souvern auf. Er trotzt jeglichem Gelnde und bietet dabei einen stabilen und gedmpften Schritt, als wrde man auf einer Wolke wandern.
Ein kleiner Tipp fr meine Mitstreiter mit breiterem Fu: Der Schuh kann anfangs etwas eng wirken. Aber seien Sie unbesorgt! Wie ein guter Wein, der mit der Zeit besser wird, passt sich der Schuh mit jedem Spaziergang mehr und mehr Ihrem Fu an.
Zusammenfassend berzeugt der Salomon X Ultra Pioneer durch seine wasserdichte Technologie, Robustheit und unbertroffene Dmpfung. Es ist, als htte jemand einen Panzer und einen Pantoffel gekreuzt und das Beste aus beiden Welten in einem Schuh vereint. Ein must-have fr jeden Hundebesitzer und Wanderbegeisterten. Von mir gibt es hierfr klare 5 von 5 Sternen. Packen Sie Ihre Ruckscke und lassen Sie sich von diesem Schuh in neue Abenteuer tragen!

I walk almost everyday and needed a new pair of gortex waterproof hiking shoes that were lightweight and waterproof. These fit the bill superbly well. Very pleased!
I ordered a size 10 but was sent a size 8. As the sizes are a little smaller, and you should order a size up. Luckily one of my sons normally takes a size 7 so he had these.
He says that these trainers are so very comfortable no matter how long he has walked in them. They are the most comfortable walking trainers he has ever used. The design is attractive and the trainers have good grip in bad weather.
These waterproof lace-up hiking shoes are from a very reputable brand – Saloman – and are obviously well-made and durable. They are ideal to wear as lightweight walking shoes in reasonably passable terrain which doesn’t demand full-on walking boots.
I thought I had ordered a size 9 but received a size 8 – perhaps my mistake, although other reviewers seem to have received a different size to the one ordered so I’m not sure what happened! I can usually just about squeeze into a size 8 with thin socks, but I couldn’t even get these on, so maybe they do come up a bit small.
I gave them to a friend locally who takes a size 8 to try out. They were very happy with them – good quality, comfortable, properly waterproof and ideal for everyday outdoor use with a good grip underfoot. We both live in the country, so shoes like this do get a lot of use, but these seem built to last.
We both thought that they are a tad expensive for what they are, though, certainly at the current price tag of 130 (they were previously available for about 100 which seems a fairer price.) For that kind of money I’d expect something more like a traditional walking boot rather than a heavy-duty trainer, which is really what these are.
I’m awfully confused about the size though: I’ve ordered size 8.5 but received 9 (at least that is what they are labelled as).
That being said: they are very comfy and I would buy again.

Comfortable mesh lining and high quality fabric. A very nice looking shoe — I especially love the blue colouring. Very stylish and pleasing to look at.
I had ordered a size 8.5 — but ended up getting a sized 9. Fortunately this worked in my favour as I found the shoes a little tighter than expected. They actually fit very well for a size 9 — probably even better than the 8.5. Worth noting that you might need the next size up due to the cut of the shoe, as it might be tighter than expected.
Now the price — at the time of writing a pair of these costs about 100 which is a lot of cash for shoes — especially shoes designed to be hiking in. They are branded which will push up the costs and are of very high quality.
The real question is are you okay with wearing expensive shoes for hiking as they’re likely to dirty very quickly. These are very comfortable to wear and if you want to go brand quality, they are an excellent product.
That said, you might be just as well off getting a 30-ish pair of shoes as they’re likely to last just as long wear and tear wise.
Getting anything by post is always a worry but in this case I shouldn’t have worried as a good make.

They are waterproof as well and this works as it should. We are told its a GoreTex lining and from what i know should
Be OK for a long time. They are not heavy or feel clumpy despite having a very ridged out door grippy sole.
Not bright in colour. The way I like them. Should last well as a good around shoe for most occasions.

I’ve never had a pair of Salomons before, and I’m very impressed. This is the type of shoe I wear either for all-day trips such as walking round London or for country walking, though for serious hillwalking I prefer boots, simply for the ankle support.
These shoes are tough enough for any outdoor wear, but also stylish enough for everyday wear, and very light in weight.
The quality of materials and manufacture feel excellent, with soles made of very tough rubber. The shoes are extremely comfortable, with well-moulded padding around the inside of the ankle to prevent chafing and Ortholite insoles for cushioning your feet (the insoles can be removed if you eventually need to replace them). The inside is lined with a mesh which I assume is breathable. The shoes flex enough for comfort, but still feel very secure. I haven’t tried them in mud yet, but I am confident that the dsign of the treads and the V-shaped pattern of the heel tread will provide plenty of grip. As usual these days, the outside of the tip of the toes is solid rubber to protect against impact.
I usually take size 8. I ordered 8.5 for review, and got size 9, but to my surprise they fitted almost perfectly, feeling like a slightly large 8 so with only a little spare. As it’s autumn, this means they should still fit OK in hot weather when feet swell a little, especially after a long walk. If buying these, you may want to go half a size above normal.
Not cheap, but about the right price for hiking shoes of this quality.
Should come number 9 uk and I got number 8 uk but after assuming I found that when I walk a bit, it breaks down and I will help them a little because I have machines to stretch shoes, of course you cannot overstretch with stretching because the shoes can tear in some place, but just right I trust these shoes because I have already one of this with similar and the same company. I know that, despite the fact that they come in a smaller size, I am very happy with them, because these shoes are very comfortable, especially when you like to walk on the mountains, they are made of a very good quality material, so I can recommend them to anyone who will need without hesitation just such shoes.
They are very expensive, but for this quality and brand I would have no hesitation in spending enough money to have them for many years of use.

Nice boots, fit as expected.
On putting them on I thought they felt quite cheap but in actual fact they aren’t, they are comfortable with a good sole which offers excellent grip. They look like they are made well but only time will tell to see how long they actually last.
Unfortunately I ordered a size ten pairs of shoes but a size 8 was delivered. Luckily for me I wanted size 8 for my father and couldn’t get those. When these turned up I was delighted, my Dad loves them, they fit him perfectly and he says they are very comfortable. He’s been out walking in the rain a few times in these and loves they have loads of grip and keep his feet dry. The shoes are good value and well worth it as well as looking really good. Very happy with these.

I really love the fit I ordered 8.5 as it said, narrow fit and got delivered size 9 and the fit is fantastic. I really like how easy it is to release the shoelaces. Can you can see the arch of the foot is a complete part of the shoe brilliant.
I really like the soft padding underneath my soul, with a nice arch where you need it, and the heel padding is soft, and very supportive, brilliant

I’m a size 9 but have very wide feet, similar to the dimensions of a ducks foot. I got the size 10s and first try on they feel pretty dang tight but I’m going to power through cause I think they will loosen up. They look alot better in real life than the photo does them justice. Feel super well stitched and held together. I’m looking forward to breaking them in and wearing them out.
I ordered this pair of walking boots for my husband. He is a true size 11 and this pair of shoes seem tight to put on at first however once they’re on, they are extremely comfortable and it feels like you can walk for miles in them. Waterproof shoes, good for walking in wet grass as well. Totally recommend!
I have tested these Salomon hiking shoes over a few days and found them to be very comfortable, they offer excellent grip and are light weight. Construction so far appears to be solid with excellent fit and finish, the sizing for me is correct. I feel like these shoes are good all-rounders, they are as at home on the trail as they are walking around town.
Waterproofing is great, no issues with mine.
Highly recommended if you can afford a pair.
