This is my fifth pair, they get a hard life, but have never let me down. I have tried other brands – but they don’t come close. Well worth it.
These shoes seem very comfortable although I usually wear a size 9 & needed a size 10 in this particular model!
Just started going to a gym again, and walking more.
Very good shoes. The old ones still keep the water out but having served me for two years are now used for gardening and car wash.
Very comfortable and great out on walks whilst keeping your feet dry without noticeable weight.
I have found that I need half a size up from my usual shoe size
Speedy delivery, well packed, I am very pleased with it.
They have not been warm yet, but they look well made and stylish
Very good quality. This model should be sized up in half and it will be perfect! For example: If you have salamon size 9.5, then take 10.0, etc.
I’ve been buying XA Pros for more than 15 years and, whilst the form and quality has changed at times over the years, they are still the best fitting, most comfortable and waterproof hiking shoes for my money.
I’ve used them on everything from the South West Coast Path to the GR11 trans-pyreneean and I’ll keep buying them as long as Salomon keep making them.
This is the second model I’ve had, although previous one wasn’t the waterproof one. I think for the extra it’s definitely worth getting the gore tex as really keeps your feet dry during wet days.
Nothing to dislike all good for them would buy agai
I really love these shoes, this must be my 7 pair, and I always buy size 12.5uk, but this pair is just too small and makes my toe sore, but I had already used them before really noticing, so too late to send back.
Beautiful looking shoes and good quality but they are too tight at the toes for my husband.
Love these shoes . These are my 10th pair . I have a balance issues , these shoes really help.
Make sure You order the Gortex model as the ones without have a seam which irritates my feet.
These model of trainers are very sturdy and good to fit as expected. They are my second pair becouse first pair I am wear about 4years in any weather condition.
I have been wearing Solomon walking boots for some time, the quality is always good.
Beware that the sizes are smaller than expected, I take a size 6 shoe, but always order size 7.5 Solomon boots.
Really comfy with great support. I was buying to replace the same shoe bought a few years ago. The fit is half a size up from your regular shoe size
Had these a month now and put a few hundred miles on them. They were comfy straight out the box and no issues with blisters or hot spots. After a few longer walks my feet were a bit achy so I have upgraded the insoles (Sorbothane Double Strike) and that’s made a massive difference — both to my feet and my knees. First time I’ve bought this model after 2 pairs of XA Pro 3Ds – last pair the sole came away from the upper after about 700 miles, which is fair enough for a shoe like this. Just lurrrrve the speedy laces and wouldn’t go back to normal laces now. Ace!
Opened the box, I was immediately impressed by the shoes, my size 10 fitted perfectly, with the dog in tow I went off to road test them and they did not let me down if I was picky the surplus self-tightening lace which tucks behind
the shoe tongue can become free and go underfoot which in turn could cause damage to the lacing system.
So these just landed. I’m 60 and walk a lot. I live in the UK and have been a size 8 since forever. Read all the reviews and since these things are particularly expensive I also watched a few YouTube vids on these too. Just about everybody saying to go a size or at least half a size up. What I was worried about though is that the length would then be longer than my foot so in the end pressed the button on my regular size. Soooooo! Do they fit? After almost surgically (I’ve never had to do this my entire life) inserting my feet like a transplant into these shoes they are……errrr……..snug! I feel they will loosen up a bit when I get going with them on. The length is unsurprisingly spot on but these things are narrow and I DO NOT have broad feet. You get the feeling there’s some wee Vietnamese guy in Ho Chi Min City who has a job as a foot model where everybody gets their measurements from and I just hope that when after a decent walk: I take them off; my feet don’t remain inside the shoe.
A solid shoe, with good support across the foot and good grip up and down slopes. Roomy toe box so good wriggle room. A bit hard underfoot but they are still new , so may well adjust or I can use a different insole. Lacing system a bit wayward at times.
I buy Salomon because the fit is consistent across the range. So there is minimal risk when buying from the internet. I took these shoes on a 10 day vacation – the only pair of shoes I took and the only pair I needed. I’ve stepped in puddles where the water comes over the whole upper – no leaks. With the non-Gortex models, you can feel the wind blowing through the uppers. These GTX models can be worn in very cold weather and you don’t get cold feet even though they are not specifically insulated.
I find these shoes comfortable but water resistance is limited, the first real use of mine was an all day tramp around Ullswater in the lake district in the UK. It rained all day – of course – after an hour of walking my feet were soggy which wasn’t great. Other than this as a gripe I’m quite happy with them. Especially like the drawstring laces for easy on and off.
This is my third pair of this shoe design – the Salomon XA Pro 3D GTX. The shoe is very comfortable from the outset and has a wide fitting. The Gortex keeps you dry and the sole is long lasting and has very good grip on all surfaces. Always buy a half size larger than the shoe size you would normally buy to ensure a comfotable fit under all conditions. Yes, they are expensive but you get what you pay for – a quality product.
I bought these for disc golf, used for four months. They are holding up well and provide some resistance against morning dew. I like the quick lace mechanism, although many do not. Some seams are starting to show signs of the glue coming off, so looks like durability could be better. On the other hand, this seems to be the usual performance in this price category.
Got my first pair in Spain if I remember. A pair of these and the mesh summer ones as well. This is my 4th pair. 3 of which had heavy use. Walking all day everyday in my old job. And on the occasions I stood in a puddle I was glad I spent the money. My old pair which I am now using for odd jobs still keep out the water. Use them for jobs and last week stood in 2 big puddles and went *****. Was sure I would be soaked but no. I did step in a bigger puddle later and the water came over the tops so I had a bad day there but I know what my next pair will be.
Did an amount of training with the she’s on prior to taking part in the Round Island Walk in Jersey (48 miles). The shoes are sturdy, waterproof and really comfortable. The only one dissatisfaction was the toe caps. When walking down slopes and steps, I could feel the front of the shoe lifting my toe nails, I didn’t think this was going to be too much of a problem, just uncomfortable, silly me. At 25 miles, my toe nails were lifted and there were blisters underneath, very uncomfortable but I managed to strap up and complete the walk.
I’m not throwing them away, just strapping my toes together each time I go out for a walk as they are an expensive shoe.
The shoe fits well. I bought 1 size bigger than for normal shoes (I bought size 11, my normal shoe fit is size 10). It has been comfortable from the off, no blisters or other discomfort despite walking for 2 hours on first day of wearing.
I have given it a 4 rating as I do not know the longevity of the shoe. If the lace system breaks, it looks difficult to repair.
I think I would like to give it 4.5 stars. The size is rather narrow for my foot and it is a tight fit, but maybe it is just more accurate than the other shoes and tried. I love the rugged, booty feel of them which maybe why they take a while to wear in. I be interested in trying a pari a half a size larger than what I normally get to compare. Side issues aside, they are truly a wicked shoe, I use it for jogging on concrete and sprinting on wet grass. On concrete they feel solid and bouncy, got a nice feel to them. On grass they keep my feet dry and work well on difficult terrain. I love the lacing system and there are loads of nice features, worth the price.
First of all, as most reviewers have pointed out, get a half or full size larger than you need. I’m normally a size10 and ordered the 10.5 and they’re perfect.
I’ve had a couple of different Salomon shoes up to getting these. I’ve had the Salomon Men’s X Ultra 2 GTX Low Rise Hiking Shoes as well as the high rise version. They were both excellent, one replacing the other as they wore out. My biggest and only complaint being I was less than impressed with the tread grip. They were pretty aweful in my opinion compared to others I’ve used.
The good news is these shoes don’t suffer from poor tread grip. They’re much better by a long way. They’re very comfortable, as all Salomon’s are needing no break-in at all. They’re (so far) water-proof, and have the same lace-up system I really like and works well. I think Salomon have learnt a lot over the years and continuously put effort into developing better shoes whereas other makes seem not to care and make the same mistakes and don’t appear to listen to customers.
A nice trail running shoe. The fit was OK for my size 9 medium feet but it did feel a little tight when I first put them on – However I have now done three 8km runs in them with varying thickness socks and had now issues.
The grip is good but (thankfully) I have not had to test the water resistance yet – lol
I read all the reviews across the various sellers of the XA Pro 3D’s and saw a lot of reviewers experienced ‘sizing issues’.
I went on the Salomon website and used their size guide to see what size I should buy. I usually get shoes in a UK size 8, my feet measure 25cm which according to Salomon is a UK size 7, having taken into consideration the other reviews, suggesting to buy a size larger, I purchased my usual UK size 8 and I’m glad to say the fit is spot on, so it’s worth measuring your feet and going from there.
I work in concert touring and television so I’m constantly on and off my feet throughout my working day, regularly over 14 hours, these shoes, so far, have been very comfortable. I think the lace system is great and holds throughout. The tongue has a ‘pouch’ for the lace clip to be stored in so isn’t left flapping around. The inner sole is very comfortable, they didn’t need much “breaking in” which surprised me, and the added benefit of these having goretex meant my feet stayed dry whilst working outside in the wet weather recently.
