A key is not needed for a TSA combi lock
What is a TSA (Transport Security Administration) Lock?
TSA locks are required for all customers travelling to the USA. The TSA screens every passenger’s luggage and at their discretion they may open a passenger’s luggage for closer inspection. TSA locks have a universal master key that will open the locks. Only the TSA have a copy of this master key.

Miss a side open zip compartment on this case
Colour of it is even nicer then I thought it would be
Lovely and light and great quality as expected from Samsonite
Great case to withstand the rigours of airline handlers
Especially like the zipped off sections inside
Have used it for two return trips through Birmingham International Airport. Two minor observations. The castors are slightly less free wheeling than they were at first (but not enough to stop it trying to run away on an incline!). The upsliding handle doesn’t feel quite as sturdy as it might – it needs frequent sliding up and down to negotiate stairs, security, etc.
Overall, it’s brilliant and I’d buy the same again next time.
Very light, sturdy suitcase – easy to manoeuvre – great for short trips away
My last two Samsonite bags fell apart on their second trip! I’ve used this once and it seems sturdy enough. It’s heavier than I thought it would be.
I would be wary of paying anywhere near full price, and while they do indeed scratch easily the medium sized case was easily enough for a week away, including two sets of shoes and jackets. Very easy to pull etc and in my view the metallic finish is a touch of class. Great product but you’ll have to take care with it to protect the finish.
Used for 2 long haul trips now, second time I overloaded it sooo much, can’t believe I got it shut with no damage. It even survived being thrown about at several airports and a cruise terminal with only the most minor of superficial scratches that you can’t see unless under bright light, they would polish out anyway no doubt. Loved the 2 zipped areas inside, loved everything about this case and it’s the most lightweight one that I could get for the size. Highly recommend so far.
Great case. Sturdy and flexible with amazing wheels to take it over uneven sufaces.
Very smooth.
I ordered a medium to replace a similar suitcase which died after 8 years of abuse. The first case that arrived came in a plastic bag with the tag ripped off, the inner zipper broken, a scratch on the side, and dirt in the interior. I was appalled and returned it but quickly received a “new-in-box” case which is much better. If your case arrives in a plastic bag, check it carefully. Look for 1. outer samsonite tag, 2. inner “inspected by” card, 3. warranty and ID label cards attached, 4. outer white cover bag.
The interior rooms are thoughtfully designed, and I like the lock mechanism. The plastic seems very very light for something that will definitely receive impact at some point. With normal suitcase use I can see it lasting a while (maybe), but the lightness of the wheel material seems suspect. It will obviously scratch very easily so don’t get too attached to the metallic color. If you intend to pack heavy and wheel it through cobblestone or street, I would go with something heavier duty. Time will tell and I will update after it goes on its first trip. At this price point, I will be very annoyed if it does not stand up to travel like my previous samsonites.
Good quality and overall happy with the product. Some discoloration after multiple use/scratches during travels but over all happy and no issues with handles or wheels.
Love this case, easy enough to lift on to train luggage racks in Japan, runs smoothly in any direction even at 21kg when full, great colour and nice interior with zipped sections and straps for keeping clothing straight.
Lock is a little fiddly but other than that a great product from a very reputable brand. Better for a 2 week holiday or more. Might be a bit big for a shorter break.
been travelling long haul flights since I got this bag for the past year (Europe to Asia, vice versa), and it’s been quite good so far. Just a few scratches here and there but it’s really held up well so I’m pretty pleased with the purchase.
Already have the larger hold version, decided to add a cabin carry-on too. Build quality and weight are excellent. Well worth spending that little bit more to get a top quality case.
Great for effortless wheeling upright shaking 4 wheels on smooth airport floors. Sometimes hotel carpets offer too much resistance and you have to tip back onto two wheels (but that’s not the bags fault).
I’ve always been a Samsonite fan and this one doesn’t disappoint. This suitcase is light (this is where Samsonite always wins in my opinion) but at the same time it offers all the space you need from a cabin bag. It also has a TSA lock in case you ever need to check it in and it has zipped fabric covers on both sides, which means your stuff won’t fly around the bag whilst you’re using it – this is especially useful when you need to take liquids in and out of it at airports. You won’t have to show everyone around you what is in your bag. All in all – great value for money and quality.
I’ve been using this bag for two years and traveled to Japan twice, Australia, USA 3 times (Road Trip etc).. The bag looks as good as new without any defect or whatsoever, (Zips are in perfect condition and there are only cosmetic scratches on the outside). I really recommend it.
After reading some of the negative reviews against this item I was apprehensive. However; upon receipt my initial fears receeded. Flimsy ? Not really when you consider overall weight is 3kg. There is more than ample room in 75cm for a fortnights clothing. The spinner wheels mean effortless manouverability. Truly satisfied
Very good for business travel. Finally found a case (after 2 decades) which doesn’t make my work shirts look like they’ve been through some form of battle while in airplane storage. Great for legging it through airport with laptop on top too (without constantly stopping to adjust its position)
I even like the colour…
he bag is nice and light, flows freely and is a beauty to look at however the space is small – it looks bigger than it actually is. probably cant pack for more than a day or 2.
Really good suitcase. It is expensive, but what really strikes you is that you can tell that you’re paying for the R&D behind the case. It works perfectly as a carry on case, giving you fantastic capacity for the space allowed (obviously airlines vary). Only negative is that the connection between the pull handle and case can feel a little flimsy – but this is because the case has been engineered to be so light (which is another of its positives). Make the handle slightly sturdier and include an external document wallet/pouch and you have a perfect suitcase, but this really is excellent.
This survived an epic 5-week world tour trip with many flights and transfers and putting a good couple of kilometres on the wheels I am sure.
Plenty of space inside and having the contents of both sides be held in by full zip-cover flaps makes it easier to pack and not have stuff fall everywhere when you open it. The “back” side’s compartment (side with the extending handle) has a regular elastic strap to hold stuff down/flat. The main top and side handles are fairly comfortable and feel super sturdy, the top extending handle will latch at quite a few different height settings (rather than just “all the way down or all the way up”).
The wheels are very nice – super easy going on smooth floors, more work on carpet if you’ve packed it really heavy. This is my first 4-wheel suitcase and I am TOTALLY sold – it’s so much easier to just guide it along with the top handle when you don’t have to keep it “turned the right way”. My old 2-wheel suitcase often felt like it was trying to break my wrist when it hit a bump and twisted sideways!
The white finish will pick up grubby marks from airline baggage handling – I found most of these were easily removed with an old toothbrush and some toothpaste. It will also get scratched and scuffed, but the matte finish makes these far less obvious.
It’s a zip-closure around the outside, but with the zip pulls locking in to the built-in 3 digit combination lock (with the normal TSA bypass thing). This should stop the normal attack against zipped suitcases (where the zip is forced open with a biro and then the locked-together zip pulls run back and forth to re-close and hide the interference) – and the internal zip flaps would be very hard to open while the zip-pulls are still trapped by the combination lock. Wouldn’t stop a really determined badguy with more time and privacy, but should put off the opportunistic thieving baggage-handlers.
There are cheaper suitcases around but after taking this one around the world, I’m glad I picked this one.
BEST
CASE
EVER
Weighs as much as a floaty ghost, which means more stuff inside for your flight allowance,
Indestructable and secure.
Don’t be put off by the price. This case will last you for your life time.
I bought two!
This is an excellent suitcase. The best one I’ve ever owned. A dream to manoeuvre, you hardly know you’re pulling/pushing it. I find the best way to move it is just to push it like a shopping trolley. I could push it with my little finger in the airport it’s that smooth. Very easy to steer as well. The two compartment layout inside is also very useful. You don’t have to rummage too deep to get something from the bottom of your case because it’s in two halves. You can also sandwich your footwear between the two layers to keep them off your clothes. So far so good. I just hope it lasts me for many years. I’ve only used it for one flight up to now.
Worth paying that little bit more for as a carry on as it will pay for itself with saved baggage fees. Quality is spot on, it’s lightweight and a breeze to use and wheel about, good quality and features and survived the baggage handlers.
Minor scuffs after one trip in the hold with Ryanair but the abuse that luggage takes it’s not surprising it’s picked up a few little trip tells on the finish.
There is a nice ‘flat’ area on the rear which you can put a sticker on to ‘make it your own’ aswell to make it easy to spot on the belt but these aren’t super common or generic so easy to spot, also has a name tag pull out. Lock system works well.
Great case. Very light. One small point. Measures under 40cms depth. Emirates insist on 55x38x20, so measured the case and was delighted that it was under 40cms depth. Please Samsonite put the correct measurement, as thought I would have to return it. Am sure some customers will have bought an alternative case due to Airline restrictions.
Fantastic and very light suitcase. Arrived well packaged and just survived its first hand luggage flight with scuff or incident. Very roomy too.
I was a little cautious after reading a few reviews but I checked out samsonite website and having used many of their cases I decided to purchase. So pleased I did and saved myself money in the process.
An excellent 69cm case and at 133 about 75 cheaper than the same case at John Lewis! This is a 4 wheel case and is incredibly light. each compartment has a zip closed portion effectively dividing the case into 2 compartments. One compartment has the elastic cross steps as well.
There is a top handle and a side handle as well as the extendable handle. There is a 3 number TSA combination lock as well so suitable for travel to the USA. Some nice colours means that the case will be easily identified on the luggage carousel. This one is the “medium size there is a smaller 55cm one suitable for cabin baggage. There is a larger one also.
Gorgeous looking suitcase, smooth rolling, and very spacious. My only concern is how easily it scratches, thankfully this is mostly used as cabin baggage so I won’t have to check it often, but even simple knocks and scrapes leave a noticeable mark.
Awesome case loses one star as the beautiful Matt finish, which I had to pay more for, does mark easily. The red accents do make it look nice though.
Very light and rolls very well. Highly recommend but maybe in a different finish.
Extremely lightweight and plenty of room inside. Perfect size for the majority of European airlines and their size limits. Stood up to the punishment of a two-hop return flight from UK to Japan and back. Very easy to roll around, this is bliss in comparison to any other suitcase I’ve used in the past.
Looks good. well made and durable. the reason it got 4 stars instead of five is the price. honestly even though it is a solid wheel chair you can get the same quality for cheaper. you’re paying extra for the samsonite brand.
can fit a surprising amount in this. Not quite as indestructible as it seems got scratched when I put it in an overhead luggage rack and label got moved in airctaft hold but pretty durable nonetheless, and very light and manoueverable
Been in use for months now for flights every week.
Normally fully loaded.
Works well, is holding up to getting knocked about.
4 wheels, I wouldn’t go back to 2.
Heavy laptop bag sits on top and its fine.
So seems so far strong and robust.
It weighs nearly nothing and is ideal for most volume per allowed dimensions.
Good use of space inside and the zipped enclosures keep things neat, while allowing liquids in bgs to be placed in between them, so I just open it up enough to take the liquid bag out at security without needing to open everything up. And then fast to tuck it back in afterwards.
The lock will lock without needing to be on the open code, so fast to secure it without holding people up behind you.
Handles well placed, the pull up handle will take its weight.
Minimal things on the edges to catch on stuff, so slides in and out of over head lockers with ease.
Its had enough wear to take the “new bag steal me” shine off it and now is more subtle and understated.
All in, its a great bag after 3 months of abuse and holding up well
Its a Samsonite suitcase, so you get what you pay for. Haven’t used it on a trip yet, so I don’t know whether it scuffs easily, but it looks robust. I suspect being a matt finish it will show scratches less than a shiny finish
Very nice suitcase, and the weight of only 3k for the size is excelliant, the colour is lovely, dont know yet if it will look as good once it has been through the Airport traffic! Im hoping the wheels stay on as i am rather worried they are not going to last long once in transit with the bag holders. But so far, it is a nice item, i hope i can say that once its been used.
It looks nice, just like the images shown. It’s very light. However, it is a little bit soft and easy to be scratched. But it is strong enough to avoid the impact with the materaial of PC. Generally speaking, very good product with this price.
I bought one of these and shortly after bought another one for my boyfriend. The suitcase is extremely light weight. I almost went for a different Samsonite model simply because of the colours available but this suitcase was 1.5kg lighter meaning you can bring more cool things back while on your holiday! This suitcase has so far been on one two week holiday and has lasted very well. The only weird thing is that mine now has a ‘bulge’ which happened half way through the trip, almost as if something inside was pressed against the case. Apart from that both cases are still in perfect condition. The zipper is stury, the built-in lock works well and the suitcase has fabric with zippers on the inside which helps you to seperate and organise your luggage. Because of the 4 wheels it’s easy to walk around with, even in a busy city. Even when the suitcase is full. I’m used to fabric suitcases and not really folding my clothes but just stuffing it all in. That’s not really possible with this type of suitcase, so I used some vacuum bags to make it all a bit more compact. Overall, super super happy with this suitcase. If you have a two wheel suitcase or one of those ones where you pull a plastic handle, stop that nonsense and get something like this, it will make travelling a lot more comfortable! 🙂
One major problem, however. There is no information about how to operate the lock! I had to look on youtube for a demonstration. Why can’t Samsonite or Amazon send information about how to open the suitcase?!
ice design and very lightweight. a much better price than found in local retail and delivered quickly. the silver is darker than pictured (it’s actually more gunmetal), and the finish scratches very easily, so it looks quite worn after just one vacation through a few baggage carousels.
