I have used this in an internal box on my Mac mini 2020. It works well and was instantly recognisable by the computer. Has been in service several months without a hitch. Quiet in operation and very very quick!
This is probably one of the best/fastest sata ssd’s you could buy at the moment; Very fast e reliable; I have been using it for many months and never had a problem, actually, I have sold several of these to clients and NEVER had 1 failed. I’d definitely give it a BIG 5.
Bit of a panic initially as I plugged straight in and went to options to find it wasn’t recognised!
Plugged into my pc to format then reinserted and bingo all working!
Transferred around 500gb of music, photos etc which was done a lot quicker than transferring to an older style hd.
Brilliant will stick with SSD drives when needing storage in the future
Marked down on ease of installation as obviously it had to be formatted first (though this may be down to the TV box?)
Also marked down on gaming as I haven’t used it for this (but judging on the speed it reads music files etc I’d imagine it would work perfectly)
Highly recommended
Purchased 8 October 2020 and dead 12 April 2021. Windows can’t boot from in and no matter what safe mode, command line, restore backup from Elsewhere it won’t work.
No problems call Amazon and get it sorted. Amazon answered but when it came to Sandisk it was mess around not answer the phone for over 50 minutes so it seems others also having lots of problems too.
Finally get through, well urrr, ummm, arrr.
So 1 hour and 30 minutes wasted we will send you an email. So maybe I get an email, maybe I get a UPS label, maybe I get a refurbished one? (How do you undo all previous read and write cycles on the chips and operation of the TOC). So I am expected to settle for some dodgy, partially used maybe ok SSD disk.
The last purchase of any Sandisk ever.
You have been warned!
“UGREEN USB C Hard Drive Enclosure 2.5″ External Disk Caddy Reader UASP USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type C Case”
specifically because both mentioned the fast USB protocol UASP. I checked that my laptop supports UASP before purchase.
At first I was disappointed; the claimed 500MB/s fell far short at around 230MB/s. However, after switching off the USB write caching on the drive (which means I have to use the Windows USB safe eject function before disconnecting the drive – no big deal, as I always do that anyway) the speeds shot up to close that the claimed speed. Maybe a coincidence – I haven’t switched it on again to check. Not entirely the full claimed speed, as there are apparently transfer overheads, but a 1.8GB file transfers in 4 – 5 seconds, which I find unbelievable, and a 250MB file transfers so fast that the Windows progress graph doesn’t even have time to appear.
Both products are well recommended.
I bout this 2 days ago ish and it came next day, great.. I went to install it and oh no, i had lost my extra data cables, so because of the great size of the SSD I just replaced my HDD and used it’s sata cable but sadly I handnt got the screws to hand luckily no moving parts so no problem if it’s a bit loose, it’s fair to say from a 5 min boot up, now when I turn my pc on, it’s up and discord and steam is all loaded up within a minute, absolutely great and my loading times for games. Even better, for the price this is a great SSD and is good for work and gaming
I was in the process of cloning my Dell Dimension 9200 and I already purchased a Kingston KC600 SSD SKC600/1024G but none of my computers would recognise it so I have now bought the SanDisk equivalent and returned the Kingston to Amazon.
Compare this to a HDD; I previously had a Toshiba HDD installed by default, and not only are the startup speeds and times considerably different but also overall performance of the computer. The computer I got it for is five years old and I figured it was getting slow and needed replacing… until I bought this device!
It now starts up in mere seconds as appose to max 30 seconds.
Unless you know how to replace a hard drive by coping the OS, personal info, DLL files etc, I would get a professional to take care of the transition.
Literally never really knew the significance in terms of speed when it comes to SSD’s. Definitely worth the 80!!
As this PC is not the fastest anyway I have not placed it under any stress, beyond some light video editing, but it works well for everything I have so far tried.
This disk plus a RAM expansion made it run almost like a new machine.
Sadly the last supported OS is High Sierra but she’s still happy with the new lease of life.
The upgrade was pretty easy, take a backup with time machine to an external drive.
Remove a few screws and you’re in to swap the drives over.
Reboot from the external drive with the time machine backup and do a restore… job done.
No issues with fan control etc.
Using some specific software it was very easy to duplicate the old HDD onto the new SSD, once complete it was just a case of swapping the existing HDD out and replacing it with the new one.
The laptop is now ultra fast and boots up in seconds, it’s also lighter, quieter and doesn’t get as hot so it’s a win win win doing this upgrade and she couldn’t be happier.
My son loves playing Fortnite but complains that it takes too long to load (I timed it and it is nearly 2 minutes…..He should have been around when the Comodor 64 was around as you would need 40 minutes and a screwdriver before you could play a game).
Since installing this little beauty (with a separately purchased 2.5inch case) it has knocked off over 30 seconds from the loading time and have to say it also helps the game play a little smoother (not as glitchy). Also the updates are quicker.
This item seems well built, was well packaged, super fast delivery and and absolute steel at the price.
I intend getting another one for my desktop PC and one for my laptop.
It is true what they say…..once you try an SSD there is no going back
Fantastic piece of kit, highly recommmended!
The price was good and delivery speedy.
One star down as the casing is plastic and it gets quite hot, so a metal case as a heat sink might have been a sensible choice but I guess that adds cost.
UPDATE: This has been used nearly every day since purchased in 2019 so still going strong 2 years later as I would expect.

I had a hard drive in my PC for a long time and decided it was time to upgrade. Searching for an SSD brought me to this one which has a good capacity for the price.
Once I installed it, I fresh installed windows onto my SSD but that was because I wanted a fresh start for my PC. I’m honestly not sure if there is an easier way to transfer from the hard drive to the SSD (there probably is) but that is the method I chose. Installation is easy but make sure to choose the right drive (i.e. if you have a 1tb hard drive and a 480gb ssd, choose the drive which has the 480gb capacity).
Using the SSD on a day to day basis has been an enjoyable experience especially after having a hard disk drive. It may not be the fastest SSD, but it does the job. Loading time for windows and for games have significantly lowered (make sure to actually install the game onto the SSD and not just steam for example otherwise the loading times will stay the same).
All in all, it has been one of my best purchases. No problem with delivery and product was easy to use.
[Any questions, message me. Happy to help :)]
Older laptops typically had small and slow mechanical internal hard drives, one of the best upgrades you can do to speed such a machine up is to change that for an SSD (solid state drive) such as this. Is such a task difficult ? No there are plenty of instructional videos on YouTube to show you how. This is not the fastest SSD available but for most people, the difference between the quickest and the slowest in this type of hardware is not noticeable, it is a vast improvement over mechanical drives. If upgrading an old laptop one final tip, make sure you check that you have the right amount of RAM (memory) installed in your machine for the operating system you are running, RAM and mass storage devices such as SSDs go hand in glove when maximizing performance upgrades.
For some reason the disk didn’t have any included cloning software and the packaging didn’t indicate where it could be downloaded, I haven’t seen anyone else mention this in the reviews so perhaps I was unlucky (or just incompetent and missed something), however I had some other free disk cloning software lying around which worked fine.
Plugged the SSD into a spare external disk caddy and the cloning software took about 5 hours to clone the original laptop. Another 5 minutes to swap the disks around and the laptop booted up and worked perfectly.
Boot time from cold is now down to about 40 seconds and waking from hibernation closer to 20 seconds so all in all a very successful and affordable upgrade with minimum fuss and bother.
Just make sure that if you are upgrading an existing machine you might need to source some cloning software and a USB to SATA adapter as well.
Money well spent on making my wife happy.
If you’re moving over from a HDD (normal hard drive) to an SSD you may think this is overpriced for the storage space. But you’d be wrong. Due to an SSD having no moving parts, If for instance you installed your operating system (windows) on this thing it would dramatically decrease your boot up times and basically speed up every process that your computer does. If you install games on one of these it will decrease load time by a lot ! I’ve had a few of these things in my PC for 4 years and not one has died yet, and I edit and render through gb of video footage everday. Yeah there are even faster ones out there but for the price this is a solid buy. Real world scenario – If I’m playing multiplayer with friends who have a HDD and we load a game at the same time, I’m already picking up loot while they are still staring at the load icon.

Summary – Awesome and easy to install. Tiny so it’ll squeeze in anywhere. Smaller than a mobile phone
24/10/2019 – Purchased a 1TB SanDisk Plus for my very slow laptop. The positives first. Once fitted to my laptop it is now superfast, no need to be thinking about a new laptop. The Acronis WD free software cloned my original hard drive with no issues, it took about 1.5 hours to clone my drive with the new SSD disk connected via one of the laptop USB ports.
The negatives – Support from SanDisk is not very good, contacted them a few times with various things to try when the SanDisk dashboard and the Acronis WD software wouldn’t detect the SanDisk SSD drive when connected to any of my USB ports. After a bit of experimenting with different USB to SATA cables/cradles I finally managed to get the dashboard and Acronis to detect the SSD drive.
Having read feedback from several Amazon customers and also on-line forums about the issues with using Acronis WD cloning software I’m really disappointed and surprised that the manufacturer hasn’t addressed these issues.
Anyway, once installed, well just wow describes my laptop performance boot up and shutdown times are amazing, all the Microsoft office software that once took ten’s of seconds to open now opens in a blink.
The migration software that comes with the Sandisk migration kit (cable plus S/W download) failed to recognise the drive attached to the USB/SATA cable. The Sandisk Dashboard software*was* able to recognize the drive and report on its satus while the migration software baulked. Fortunately I own a license of Acronis True Image Pro 2016 and used that instead.
I purchased two of these drives for two laptops and the install went very well, both laptops are now very quick rather than sluggish.
I purchased drives that were much larger than the used GB on the old drives, yielding 75% free space. Lots of spare space is clearly good for future growth but also provides a much longer lifespan. If you buy a drive just big enough it will soon degrade and even fail sooner rather than later.
If, as often happens, the SSD is not visible in File Explorer (or whatever system you are using), then you must use your system’s utility to initialise it. When that is done it will then appear as just an empty disk.
The next job is to clone the current hard-drive to it. If the SSD is smaller than the HDD, then you will probably need to re-partition the HDD to shrink the partition first. This will result in empty space which you never, and will never, use, so it doesn’t matter. Once the HDD partition you want to clone will fit onto the new SSD you can use a free program such as Macrium Reflect to do the cloning. Re-partitioning and cloning can take up to 4 hours, so be prepared.
When the clone has finished, you can simply replace the HDD with the SSD (with the computer switched off, of course, and reboot to experience the amazing reduction in boot time.
If your computer can accept 2 disks, then you can replace the HDD with the SSD, and plug the HDD into the other cable which is usually available. You then use the SSD as the main system disk and your old HDD as additional storage.
This SanDisk SSD is very much a budget item. You won’t get the blistering speeds of more expensive SSDs, but it’s still much better than a hard drive. It represents fantastic value for money.
I’m using the 120GB model, which is plenty of storage space for a laptop which is mainly used for Internet and email. Windows plus a few applications is still less than 20GB.
Thankfully, with Windows 10, after the laptop has been online at least once with its original hard drive, it registers itself with Microsoft so Windows is activated and licensed. Therefore you don’t need to type in a license key to reinstall Windows on your new SSD – your license is tied to the laptop’s hardware. I used a Windows 10 ISO image downloaded from Microsoft and saved it to a USB drive. Then I used the USB drive to install Windows on the laptop with this SSD installed. Worked perfectly first time and the speed boost was immediately obvious.
Windows boots in a few seconds and everything (as expected) flies along in a snappy fashion. Have been used to SSD technology in my Macbook(s) for a while, now so felt the need to get my i7 Lenovo up to speed. At around 40 the 120GB variant was an absolute bargain.
Prices are so low nowadays I probably should’ve got the 240GB as I might run out of space relatively quickly if I’m not careful with my file management.
Definitely worth the upgrade, no problems with installing the drive or re-installing a fresh version of Windows 10 at all. Some of the Sandisk reviews sound a bit negative when it comes to reliability , but if you register the product you get 3 years manufacturer warranty.
At these prices there’s really no excuse to be running a mechanical hard drive in a laptop in 2018.
My Home PC was a 750 gb ssd that I have owned over a year and no problems.
Pros of using this SSD:
-way better than any HD, even if you receive less storage space, it is definitely worth for the speed.
-REALLY LIGHT this will reduce the weight of any laptop – made of plastic and as light as paper on its own.
-Lasts longer than a mechanical hard drive as there no moving parts and doesnt need defragmenting ever for windows
-as the life of most consumer ssd's have a longer life, I seem to see less corruption errors, though this is subjective of course.
The build quality is nice, even though the SSD feels a bit too light and flimsy – still not too cheap. It has 4 mounting holes on the bottom but it does not come with any mounting brackets or screws so you might have to get extra ones if you need to mount it.
For me a major drawback is the fact that SanDisk’s logo is actually a part of the casing – so you cannot remove it (could be quite important for people doing PC builds with a side window panel.
Performance wise – I was able to achieve 319.8MB/s Read Speeds and 248.2 MB/s of Write speeds. I expected it would have been faster since it had an advertised speed of 535MB/s, but it’s still a really good performance for budget SSD drive.
To summarise – if you are on the market for a cheap, relatively fast SSD, and you do not care how it looks – this one is a perfect choice.
