I have always wanted an external drive to replace and back up my three internal drives, but I was waiting for the price to come down which they have, I was gonna go for a 8TB but decided to to go with this one for more space Drive has been working for a few weeks now with no issues. I was able to transfer all my files from existing Drive without any problems. I still have a lot of space left to add more content to.
One day I’ll have a full raid set up, but until then, I’ll buy 2 of these a year for file backups. They’re completely fine, not the fastest thing, but ideal as a low cost archival solution.
I got this drive and discovered it only has a USB-C to C cable with it. I dont have this on my desktop at all. No biggie i have plenty of those cables, but then found it performed at a meagre peak of 40MBs a second and video playback would constantly freeze.
Thought it was a faulty drive till i tried it on my tablet with the original cable and got 130MBs no freezes etc. Ended up buying one of these to pair with my desktop and now all is well;

I had some pretty decent cables and even tried a USB-C adapter, but only the above worked out in the end.
I have a Mac with M1 chip so to save money, I bought a couple of SSD drives to go with it. I like them as they are silent as well as fast.
This is a normal HDD so isn’t fast and in theory will hum as it has a motor. I can’t hear it at all when at my desk, so keep it plugged in rather than plug it in when I need it.
It does my Time Machine backups and does them fast. I love it.
This external hard drive is proving to be an invaluable asset to me for storing backup copies of my most valuable files.
It was advertised as a “mechanical” hard drive, yet it’s physically so much smaller than my previous one (which failed and I lost everything on it!), while having twice the storage capacity and only requiring one USB connecting lead, and no power lead, which makes me wonder whether it might be an SSD?
I may be wrong about that, but it’s still a huge safety-zone to ensure I never lose important files again! And it’s working really well!
I was shocked when the portable drive was simply pushed through my letterbox. It could well have been badly damaged. I was in so why could the courier not have knocked???
Luckily, when I tested the product it appears not to have suffered any damage and works well. However, there may well be damage which isn’t apparant to a non-technical person, so I would suggest that such items are marked “handle with care” in future.
The read and write speeds are great, around 150 MB/s. I transferred a large dataset of 2 TB, and the drive handled it without any issues. When compared in size to my ADATA and APACER 2TB drives, the Seagate One Touch is almost the same size as the APACER. However, the APACER feels more solid and reliable in hand, unlike the Seagate, which feels more toy-like.
Overall, it’s a good drive that performs its functions well.

The build quality feels solid and durable, giving me confidence that my data is safe. The drive is also surprisingly quiet, even during heavy use.
Overall, I am extremely pleased with this Seagate Portable Drive. It’s a reliable, easy-to-use, and high-capacity external drive that I highly recommend to anyone in need of additional storage.
I’ve regularly copied various documents, videos, photos onto it since with no issues, (approx’ 2TB worth), ensuring I always clicked on `Remove External USB Drive` before disconnecting.
The drive stopped working, even though the small white powerlight was on, and I could hear the internal of the portable hard-drive spinning confirming it had power ok, but my laptop was displaying a warning that `Windows cannot recognise this device…`.
I replaced the USB-3 cable with a new one, but still no joy. I tried all the Device Manager options, `Uninstall USB Driver`, Restart laptop, and other potential options, even following many steps from YouTube videos, but everything was confirming it’s a faulty hard-drive.
I contacted Seagate online and they were very helpful, prompt and confirmed my hard-drive was still under the `Recover date warranty`. After various tests on the device they took me through (in case it was a problem with my Windows Drivers, or other), it was then established that it was a problem with the hard-drive.
Seagate provided me with a Returns Label (to post the drive to their Data Recovery Department, which I did. I was kept informed throughout and a few days later got confirmation that all my data had been successfully recovered, which was then soon sent to me on a new hard-drive. Brilliant news!!
I really can’t thank Seagate enough for their AMAZING customer service, smooth and prompt data recovery, and for the new hard-drive. Highly recommended and I will certainly stick to the Seagate brand.
Got this to store games on, good storage size although closer to 3.5TB usable space than 4TB. The device itself is a decent size and fairly quiet, can’t go wrong with it for the price
Great drive, worked right out of the box. The problem I found was with the power lead which had to be pressed up or down to make contact and keep drive running. Only found this was the fault when I bought a new USB C lead via Amazon, who had already agreed a free exchange of the drive. I cancelled the exchange. Full marks to Amazon, and to Seagate for their portable disk drive; no marks for the faulty USB C cable!!
a very large drive so needs its own power supply, download my stem games after firing a new hard drive. all loaded no problem but it does take some time. once loaded they all work.
This external hard drive is great value for money I used it to backup all my files Files transferred easily and quickly No problems with it Would recommend it to anyone who needs a portable backup
I’m currenty capturing old DV tapes onto hard drive prior to editing and thence to flash drive. This drive seems to fulfil all my needs and provides plent of storage at modest case. Small size makes it very portable. Seems robust as it survived a drop from my letter box to a hard floor.

My fault not the products I brought this drive before realising it has fairly low transfer speeds – capacity is good though for the price and it’s got quite a small fan rm factor for the capacity
Got it to backup and archive my videos and editing projects from various SSD’s. Tried using the software provided by Seagate to copy all the files and it was horribly slow and failed mid copying from an SSD so had to format and do everything all over again. Later tried just drag and dropping to copy the files and managed to copy 1TB in about 2 hours. Obviously slower than modern SSD’s which I’ve gotten used to but for the price am very happy with the amount of storage and speed. Hopefully lasts long enough, will edit review if any issues occur.
I recently acquired the Seagate Portable Drive, and it has exceeded my expectations in more ways than one. This 1TB external hard drive not only offers ample storage but also comes with a valuable added feature — 2-year Rescue Services.
The first thing that caught my eye was the sleek and modern dark grey design of the drive. It blends seamlessly with my PC and Mac, making it a versatile choice for cross-platform users. Setting it up was a breeze; it was practically plug-and-play, requiring minimal effort on my part.
The real standout feature here is the 2-year Rescue Services. This added peace of mind is invaluable. In the digital age, we store so much important data on our devices, and the fear of losing it is always there. With Seagate’s Rescue Services, I know that if anything goes wrong, my data is in safe hands. It’s a comforting thought that not all external drives offer.
Performance-wise, this Seagate drive has been flawless. It’s fast and responsive, allowing for quick data transfers. Whether I’m backing up important files, storing my multimedia collection, or simply expanding my device’s storage, it handles it all without a hiccup.
Portability is another strong point. It’s incredibly lightweight and compact, easily fitting into my bag or pocket. This makes it perfect for on-the-go professionals like me who need access to their data wherever they are.
The 1TB capacity provides ample space for my needs, and should I ever need more, I can easily purchase additional Seagate drives or upgrade to a larger model.
Overall, the Seagate Portable Drive is a reliable, sleek, and efficient storage solution with the added benefit of Rescue Services. If you’re looking for a portable hard drive that offers both performance and peace of mind, this is an excellent choice.
So I stumped up with a much more considerable amount to purchase this External drive and it does what it should. It hasn’t let me down and is easy to use. Would recommend
No issues at all, it’s a little bulky but to be expected with the size of capacity. I run all my games through it and have 0 problems. Overall good product but I think it could be abit cheaper.
Got this for X box X as I have done with my other console,s , so easy to format to the console , and good price for the size of hard drive . Will always stick to seagate very happy customer, also very quick del and very easy pick up from Coll poi
Simple to create luks encrypted backup partition for linux (Fedora). Backup speed over usb3 seems as good as I’d expect for an mechanical hdd. Solid unit with good no slip feet, ideal for desktop which is my use case, but too bulky and heavy to carry around regularly in a laptop bag.
My ps4 ran out of storage and this was the perfect solutions after previously buying an extension which was of different brand and failed I decided to buy this one and this one is amazing and value for money.
It’s a hard drive. What can i say, especially as i am using it on a Linux system and for some insane reason that’s not what it’s for.
It works.
It’s pretty quick (untested).
Price was right.
Ditto capacity for what i wanted it for (backup).
5TB SEAGATE EXTERNAL STORAGE , Bought for PS5 ,
Does not work in FRONT USB , PLAYSTATION Says to Use Rear USB and then Format , After Formating LOADED From PS5 SSD To SEAGATE External Storage, Game CALL OF DUTY: Modern Warfare II , 110.6GB Took about 21 Minutes.
Happy Now I Can Free Up and Store LARGE PS5 GB’s Files
I bought this as I was fed up with lousy backup options, tried another make – got one DOA.
The software seems open but is designed for this brand – download in advance see if it works for you BEFORE buying the drive.
My computer has a 500GB drive so I went for the 6TB as a decent ratio – so far fine.
Basically – USB plugged into a USB hub, Power adapter into UPS – runs fine.
Nice thing it goes into standby when the computer does.
Not a lot else to say other than the brand is one of the oldest and most reliable.
Read and write times easily matched (or probably surpassed) what I was moving on or off it via a network. I had it connected via USB3. The whole process was very simple and this device toiled away flawlessly.
It arrived with some sort of software on it, but I didn’t even look at that and wiped it during the re-formatting.
The next NAS I have to re-build, I will definitely be using this device again. Thanks Seagate for producing a simple, straightforward, reliable and trustworthy product.
The size of this drive also means I can use it for storage of photos and video, along with a document repository for all my scanned personal documents. The One Touch Hub comes in a variety of drive sizes.
It is password protected (although you can set it to recognise the main laptop / PC / Mac you are using it with (connected to via the USB lead) so that you don’t have to enter the password every time you switch it on). Obviously if you disconnect the drive or use it with another laptop / PC / Mac it will need the user set password to operate it – so it’s secure, protecting your data if stolen.
I’ve only had the drive a few weeks so can’t comment on longevity and not had to contact Tech Support , so I can’t rate that either. However I have used Seagate drives in the past and found them to be ultra reliable.
In a nutshell, if you want an easy to use back up solution for your Windows or Mac computer this is well worth considering. Set up and leave and it does the rest.
The quality is high, but I purchased a 2TB only to discover it is actually only 1.81 TB the actual size, that is not really fair.
So I originally bought a WD elements but it got lost in the amazon Post, when I went to reorder the WD elements I saw some reviews which put me off it and I began my search all over again which is when I ran into this one
It had better reviews and Google said seagate was my reliable so I decided to give this one a go. Glad the other one didn’t make it me as it made me look again for one and I love this and suits my needs to store my go pro footage. I also got an amazon hard drive case to go with it which it fits nicely into
Just what I needed. Good storage capacity. Also use as a backup as I have two.
Put 16 flash drives of data on it and it’s so much easier for work
Again value for money.
Product was used to download my computer data as backup.
I bought two of these and they are working well.
This drive is the first of this size I’ve used, previously WDs. So far I’ve had no difficulties with Seagate and they were well recommended. 5TB is generally the largest in this size and portability, so are pocketable and recommended.
All my previous seagate external hardrives have solid plastic cover this one have brushed metal one feel kinda empty inside, can’t say nothing about durability haven’t drop it as yet. Old seagate drives I still use after 10 years. Hopefully with this will be same
It would appear that I was lucky and got the 4TB version on offer for just under 90 which was great value. Bought it to use as a dedicated drive for Windows backups and seems fast enough. Seagate as a manufacturer in this market need little introduction as a quality supplier. Product very compact and runs silently.
When I bought my new Macbook I need a new portable disk drive for Time Machine backups. I thought one of the small portable SSD drives would be ideal, but the first didn’t work at all and the second took an eternity to do the initail back up and although files seemed to have been created Time Machine didnot recognise them and proceeded to start another full backup. At this point a decided to use a conventional drive. The backup was around 6 times faster with the Seagate and it has worked fie ever since.
Seagate drives, as all drives, can fail. But, if drive failure causes a significant problem, your strategy need’s reviewing. These drives are low cost and there’s no excuse to be too frugal.
I use SDDs (Samsung T5/T7 at the moment) for working – Seagate HDDs for backup and archiving.
Some have said the drive is noisy – i haven’t found that to be the case at all.
I’ll update this review after the weekend regarding true storage capacity for this unit.
If using for PS4 or anything similar, I would advice getting some sticky feet to attach it to your console so it doesn’t get knocked off
Regardless of whether you are using as intended, or harvesting for another purpose, I have been running an HTPC for twelve years and have found the Seagate Barracudas to be incredibly reliable. Even the drives running almost 24/7 have lasted for a minimum of 8 years. I have also found that Barracudas never just work one day and not the next, they seem to gently remind you that they are starting to reach end-of-life. I ripple the older drives through the house network storage unit, which runs in RAID1. You will walk down the hallway and notice one day that the array is rebuilding. That is the indication that one of the Barracudas has done all it can and it is time to order a new drive. But even then, the Seagate drives usually hang on in for another two months, giving you plenty of time to order a shiny new one from Amazon. So, as long as Seagate keep making them, I’ll keep buying them.
For the first few hours of using the product, I kept thinking my phones was receiving a notification to finally realise that it was the hard drive making so much noise and the disk inside moving so much that it was causing the vibration.
Apart from that… It does what it’s meant to
First off, the Seagate Portable Drive looks good and feels sturdy. Its sleek black and silver design suits any desktop setup and its compact size makes it easy to take with you on the go. The drive also has a USB 3.0 interface, which allows for faster data transfer speeds and better power efficiency. This makes it perfect for backing up large files and transferring them quickly.
The Seagate Portable Drive also has an impressive 2TB storage capacity. This is enough to store up to 500,000 songs, 1.5 million photos, or 250 hours of HD video. It also comes with a two-year warranty, so you can be sure that your hard drive is protected from any potential issues.
In terms of performance, the Seagate Portable Drive is no slouch. It’s fast and reliable, with read and write speeds of up to 120MB/s. This makes it great for backing up large files and transferring them quickly. It also has a built-in shock absorber, which helps protect your data from being damaged by accidental drops or bumps.
The Seagate Portable Drive also comes with a variety of useful features. It supports PC, Mac, and Android devices and is Microsoft Windows and Mac compatible. It also comes with the Seagate Dashboard software, which makes it easy to back up your data, manage your files, and monitor your drive’s health.
Overall, the Seagate Portable Drive 2TB External Hard Drive is a great choice for anyone who needs a large, reliable storage solution. It’s fast, reliable, and comes with useful features like a built-in shock absorber and Seagate Dashboard software. It also looks good and is cost-effective, making it a great choice for anyone who needs a quality external hard drive.
